Fantastic experience: I attended the Ferntree Gully practice and Joel was fantastic. Suffering from chronic pain he knew the exact balance of relaxation and treatment for my condition. Highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: I saw Joel for the first time a few weeks ago - back hips and quads needed serious attention after a long flight, followed by days lying around. I asked for firm pressure and he sorted me out in one visit. Amazing!
Fantastic experience: I had a fantastic hot stone massage in this salon. It is located in Mountain Gate in Ferntree Gully with lots of car parks available so you don’t need to be worried about finding a spot to park your car. Joel and the team are very welcoming and friendly and I had one of the best massage ever had. Strongly recommended

Negative experience: RICHMOND! Google changed the location! My review is about Richmond!! How does this place have a 5 star rating?? I paid for a 90-minute remedial massage from Joel Phillips. It cost $170. I got, at best, a body rub. To add insult to injury, I paid for 90 minutes, and Joel finished early. I took a photo of the clock when I got up off the masage table some minutes after he left. I was due to finish at 4.30pm. It was a 38c day. I had to ask Joel to put the air conditioning on as I was perspiring. The air conditioning was put on full blast, and it got really cold! I thought if I asked him to turn it down, he'd turn it off again. This bloke can not massage. I said that my neck was sore. I walked out with a really sore neck!! I felt no improvement. Joel massaged the side of my torso only!! On both sides. It felt like he was pinching my sides. This was weird. He then massaged the side of my thighs for long periods. Pinching the side of my thighs? It was very uncomfortable. Joel used so little massage oil on my calf muscles that I felt that he was trying to wax them. Literally!! I couldn't relax as he was constantly talking, and when I mentioned my garden and that I was growing, eggplants for the first time that were in fruit, I had to listen to a very inappropriate discussion about what he and his brother did with eggplants as boys with his mother's eggplants in her vegetable garden. I have had hundreds of remedial massages in my lifetime, and this was not a remedial massage. Joel was happy to tell me that he was travelling to Auckland to do a massage course over there as he started working. OMG!! I should have left then. When paying at the end, their HICAPS machine only works for medibank and 1 other provider. I could not claim on the spot. Joel told me in front of another woman that this happens all the time. Yet this place still has a 5 star rating?? No, I don't believe that. There were so many things wrong on so many levels with this place. With several reputable remedial massage companies in Richmond... I definitely can not suggest that anyone should go there. My personal experience was woeful, and Joel was indifferent. BTW, I waited some weeks before writing this to ensure that my post was fair and reasonable. 10/03/2023. This place was so overpriced, the service very average, and the massage itself was awful. I actually walked out of there, really distressed, and definitely not relaxed. I'll be keen to see if this post is taken down to maintain their alleged star rating. I took a photo of the front of the building, but I deleted it.

Fantastic experience: I saw Joel for lymphatic draining following surgery and some lingering swelling. I didn’t think it made a massive difference at first but after I got home (20 mins later) the difference in swelling was really noticeable. Fantastic experience: Have been looking for a remedial massage place close by and hadn't been super happy with any of them, but just had my first visit with Joel today and even though I came in with chronic hip/glute/quad tightness that I have had for years - I floated out of there! Joel did such a good job of loosening up areas very few people have been able to, and really pinpointed the areas that needed to be worked on (which weren't necessarily the ones giving me grief!) Was able to go home and stretch properly for the first time in ages - it really feels like a step towards getting my lower back/hip/glute/pelvic tilt issues sorted long term... Can't recommend him enough!
