Kids Dental and My Braces

Fantastic experience: My child has received extensive treatment from the team at Spring Hill led by the fabulous, highly skilled, Dr. PY Lai. A solid rapport was developed between patient and treating practitioners allowing my child to sit in chair for treatments now. Children with special needs are treated in a caring way facilitating trust between dental surgeon and patient. We had been to other dentists, only regret was not going to Dr.P.Y Lai and the team first.

Negative experience: My daughter experienced horrible care at this clinic. 4 teeth were removed during a surgery for an entirely different tooth. 5 tooth extractions in one go, when only 1 was to be performed and no dentist discussed removal of these teeth before or after my daughters surgery. No consent was given. After my daughters surgery she was left by herself (both the dentist and anaesthetist had left the building), with 1 nurse scrambling for help as my daughter was experiencing reactive airways. The nurse then sent us home saying I need to go and get my daughter a ventolin puffer (she actually required more drugs to help regulate her breathing), and was still bleeding profusely from her mouth. No qualified medical proffessional witnessed my daughter wake up after her surgery. No medical professional witnessed myself wake my daughter up. When questioned about removing 5 teeth instead of 1, the response was basically 'what's wrong with helping baby teeth out'. No other dentist had mentioned severe enough over crowding that 'NEEDED' 5 tooth extractions before, nor had my daughter ever complained of these teeth hurting. I was also called during surgery to be informed of 2 more $600 crowns that were 'needed', but still wasn't informed of the 4 extra teeth being removed. My daughters face is now completely swollen with signs of infection needing anti biotics, with 4 unnecessary extraction sites to try and recover from (5 in total) along with the plate that has been fitted is too 'tight'/not fitted corectly on a 6th tooth. My daughter has lost weight as she is unable to eat anything and is very sick/sore. Please be warned!!!!!!!!

Fantastic experience: We have had a really positive experience at Kids Dental this week. The team at Mt Gravatt are very professional, caring, supportive, patient and compassionate. As a mum of 3 little one, and the oldest receiving treatment, I felt very supported and reassured. My 4 year old daughter was at ease the entire time and received the best care. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: my 5 y/o son who have ASD and my daughter who is 3 have had their surgery done by Dr. PY Lai. Nurses and front desk are amazing very understanding and caring to my children's needs.

Fantastic experience: The staff here are amazing! I was in a panic as my child had a severe fall at daycare and no action was taken. I could see when I picked him up that at least three of his front teeth had been pushed back and one on a diagonal with severe swelling and bruising. I went to a local dentist who immediately referred me here. It was nearly closing time but they stayed to see me as they could tell how distraught I was. I need to take him back for further treatment but thank you for your kind attention.

Fantastic experience: Our experience at Kids Dental was AMAZING. My 5 year old daughter had a tooth abscess and the care we received was incredible. Every person I dealt with was friendly, professional and so helpful. She needed a general anaesthetic and every step was so thought out and child orientated. Negative experience: Rubbish service and management!!. sent us to the wrong clinic, and always change appointment time at the last minute. The appointment was scheduled at 10am and got a call from the reception at 8am asking: Can you come now? what a joke! Avoid it if you can

Negative experience: Called to make an appointment and the receptionist was not helpful. I felt like she was such in a hurry, stopped listening once I could not make an appointment, brushed me off and quickly put the phone down. I did not appreciate that at all. Seems all they want is your money without any good customer service.

Fantastic experience: Dr Lai is the best in the business

Fantastic experience: Dr Lai and his team did amazing with my energetic 3 yo son. The nurses Steph and Megan were super gentle and genuinely looked like they really cared for my boy. Thankyou to the receptionist who though I had already paid in full months prior, she was civil during the paperwork search on their end.

Fantastic experience: Dr PY and his staff are amazing. They took such great care of my daughter who had dental surgery at the Spring Hill practice. We were very impressed by the level of care taken by all staff. Dr Kate the anaesthetist who was onsite was also brilliant and it was very evident that she knows how to work with children and also put my mind at ease. I cannot fault Dr PY and his staff and we were very happy that we got a second opinion (initially were booked in with someone else). The whole process was surprisingly very fast from initial appointment, to the scan, through to surgery.

Negative experience: One star is generous at best, I would prefer a negative 100 on the scale of a rip off this joint tried on my daughter. Quoted $3,700!!!!!!! Children's dentist at Qld health $0!!!! No anaesthetic and associated risks of putting a kid under. Seriously! I am totally outraged at this level of audacity to attempt to rip off a family this way and endanger a child because a dentist wants them out cold. Total scam avoid avoid avoid!

Fantastic experience: Pete might need some braces after I'm done with him

Positive experience: Quite difficult to get appointments at. Our 3 year daughter went in to have a root canal on a chipped front tooth and 2 crowns fitted. All went well but 2 weeks later the root canal tooth abscessed so obviously the root canal failed or wasn't completed properly. After phoning I was met with quite an abrupt receptionist who informed us that there's no guarantees. Which is fair I guess, but being concerned and dissapointed (considering the amount we paid) I would have expected a bit more graciousness. We are now waiting for an appointment at the end of march to likely remove the tooth ...at cost again. Not a bad experience but certainly far more dissapointing than we expected.

Fantastic experience: I cannot express my gratitude enough for Dr P Y Lai and his staff... my daughter Rudi had to had a bit of work done and they were absolutely brilliant from first check up to surgery day ... totally went above and beyond I will never take my children to any other practice...There is not enough stars for these guys .. Thank you!!

Fantastic experience: What an amazing experience we had today with Dr Lai and his staff. Our daughter went in for 2 crowns which ended up being 3 but the only charged us for 2 as that was the original quote. Dr Lai's nurse stayed with our daughter until she awoke from anaesthetic and was completely coherent and comfortable. Dr Lai then came and spoke to us about everything that happened and stayed until we finished with all of our questions, there was no pressure to hurry up to get to his next patient. Our daughter, 4yr old, was hysterical when she came out of the GA however after another nap is back to her normal self. Could not have asked for a better practice, the reassurance, the professionalism and general care of both patients and parents is beyond. Incredibly thankful for everything you did for our daughter today.

Fantastic experience: Very much recommend this dentistry/orthodontics. My sun had got very horrible teeth looking - big teeth, basically all teeth were in wrong positions, twisted. Got to couple other orthodontists - they were saying 4 teeth removal were necessary. Then got to Dr P Y Lai - he was happy to start without any removals. And now after 4 years (only first year was "active", now we are doing check ups ) - my son has got beautiful teeth, all in places, no extraction needed. Staff is very friendly and good to kids. Not to say that this one was much cheaper than others.

Fantastic experience: My 7yo badly chipped both of his front teeth at 3pm on the Friday before Christmas. The fantastic lady on the phone queezed is in and he had two crowns and a root canal before the close of business. Fantastic service and a great price. Thanks you so much for saving our Christmas.

Fantastic experience: I took my autistic daughter, Shakira Hardgrave there a few years ago for a massive amount of dental work under a general. We were very happy. Shakira liked them and we will be back for further checkups between here and our local dentist in Beaudesert.

Fantastic experience: My six kids have been seeing Dr Lai for nearly 20 years. He has provided excellent care over that time and our family continue to see him

Positive experience: My daughter had crowns done, and overall he did a great job. The one thing that irritated me was that the dr waited until my daughter was put under general anesthesia before discussing with us using a different type of crown which was stronger but would cost us extra few hundred dollars. This should have been discussed in consultation rather than after putting my child under GA and we felt we had no option but to agree to handing over more money.

Fantastic experience: The best dental for our DD to get dental work done whilst she was put under. They really make an effort to win kids over and make them feel comfortable in their environment. Also we save $3000 plus by making the trip there instead of using our local provider.

Fantastic experience: My 3 year old son had some dental work done by PY, I am very happy with the outcome and the service we received, we saved nearly $3,000 on which another dentist had quoted for the same work! Very happy and would definitely go back :)
