Sorry to hear about your bad experience. Due to patient confidentiality laws and your privacy I can't discuss specifics with you on here. However, talking generally (as you mentioned night-time grinding), it isn't unusual for teeth to be quite sore from tooth grinding and clenching. It is very difficult to control what we do in our sleep, and as such, sometimes a splint (night-time mouthguard) helps. We usually recommend one of these when things don't settle by themselves, or there are signs of excessive wear or cracking of teeth. The body does have a great potential to heal, and we make sure that we don't provide intervention (with it's associated costs) when we think that you are better off without it. I'm sure this is what Dr Sully has considered for you.
