Bytes of Northcote - Eco Dentistry

Fantastic experience: I recently visited Bytes of Northcote for a routine clean of my teeth and was pleasantly surprised to discover they’re under new management. What truly stood out was my consultation with Dr Lincoln. He is incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to thoroughly explain my gum recession issue in a way that was easy to understand. His advice was practical, personalised and genuinely helpful, giving me clear steps to manage and prevent further problems with my gums. It’s rare to find a dentist who combines expertise with such a caring approach. I was also excited to hear that Dr Lincoln is offering dental implant services as an ongoing part of the clinics offerings - I have booked my mum in for an implant consultation with him. Overall, Bytes of Northcote exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend them - especially if you get to see Dr Lincoln!

Negative experience: I dont rate the new owner. Between him and the dentist that is still there Dr Nikhita? they both money hungry. Was better before. Staff has all changed it's not the same, dont recommend

Nikita, the dentist, was very thorough and gave excellent, informed advice. It was a nice surprise to feel so comfortable at the dentist !! Would recommend !!

Fantastic experience: Nice relaxing vibe, open spaces and easy to talk to staff and very welcoming. Not your typical dental room. Finally screens on the ceiling for you to zone away from all tools in your mouth. Will now be my regular dentist.

Fantastic experience: I chose Bytes of Northcote - Eco Dentistry after relocating to Melbourne/Naarm 2.5 years ago. The standard of care is phenomenal, all staff are caring and considerate. The practice is calming and comfortable. Their level of environmental responsibility is backed through evidence (both in the practice itself through low-toxicity paint on the walls, biodegradable and non-plastic products where practicable) to the broader environment, through treatment of waste for example. This practice sets a standard of quality and environmental responsibility. A great location and always glad to support a small business!

Negative experience: very eco with artificial turf inside, which contains pfas, for the kiddies to sit and play on. eco dentistry is a complete misnomer at this place.

Fantastic experience: I came in for a check up and and clean and had a really relaxed time. Dr Jane was very calm and gentle and had some good tips on flossing. I have had a couple of crowns done here too and Dr Nakita was very good at diagnosing the pain I was experiencing, it was a relief to find someone who could help me. All the staff are very friendly. My son recommended them and I would be happy to recommend them to others.

Fantastic experience: My family has been attending Bytes of Northcote for many years and have always had such a positive experience. We have seen a number of dentists over this time and they have all been kind, gentle and informative. We love that the environment doesn’t feel like a dental clinic which helps ease anxiety immediately. My neurodivergent teens are so comfortable attending and the dentists are always happy to take it slow and support them in any way to make the experience positive. I’ve had a lot of work on my teeth since childhood so I require crowns, maintenance fillings, and cleans regularly and after my first visit here I transferred permanently and even though we have since moved houses we won’t be moving dentists. Nikhita is our regular dentist and we adore her, however she is on family leave and today I had Jane who is just as lovely and super gentle. Highly recommend this clinic to anyone.

Negative experience: Very disappointing experience. Came in for what I thought would be a routine dental check-up and clean, but walked out feeling misled and taken advantage of. I was not informed beforehand about the full costs involved, and only after the appointment was I hit with a significantly inflated bill — far beyond what is standard for a check-up and clean. What’s worse, procedures and “extras” were added without proper explanation or consent. I was told things were “included” or “necessary,” only to find out later they carried additional fees. It felt like a bait-and-switch tactic. This kind of dishonesty is not just unprofessional — it’s unethical. I came in expecting standard care and left feeling like I’d been scammed. There are plenty of clinics out there that are upfront, respectful, and don’t treat patients like walking wallets. I won’t be returning, and I suggest you think twice before trusting them with your care or your money. Also worth noting: they promote themselves as an ‘eco’ clinic, but I didn’t see much that was environmentally conscious — just more marketing fluff.

Fantastic experience: I've already recommended this clinic to all my friends, and I honestly couldn't recommend them enough! The clinic has such a welcoming and calming vibe to it. People who work there are so nice, they like getting to know people and even remember you the next time you visit I've been traumatised by dentists before and even felt like I've annoyed them with questions, but Dr. Jane Tuohy was not like that at all. She was easygoing, light-hearted, answered my questions patiently, and gave me the most pleasant experience ✨️ Definitely changed my mind about dentist

Fantastic experience: i recently had an appointment at bytes and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. the staff was incredibly friendly and made me feel comfortable right from the start, which put my mind at ease because i’ve previously had bad experiences at dentists which gave me anxiety but i felt very comfortable at bytes. melissa was great and very knowledgeable, she took the time to explain every step of the procedure, and a clear outline of what appointments would be needed in the future. the clinic was clean and well-organized, and i appreciate the emphasis on patient care! highly recommended :)

Since coming to Bytes I have always felt welcome and looked after. If you are tossing up whether to come here or to another clinic I would be giving them a go. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: I wouldn't recommend this clinic at all.The Doctor that extracted one of my teeth was extremely rude and not friendly on any level and charged me $480 .They also also referred me to another specialist who basically told me they shouldn't have. Look elsewhere

Negative experience: Previously I was happy to travel 90 minutes each way to Bytes of Northcote. The clinic used to be genuinely friendly and sensitive to the needs of patients and I used to recommend them to everyone when I lived locally. I recently attempted to resolve issues with three fillings performed by Dr Nikhita Arora at the clinic, but the attitude of Dr Nikhita during my appointments and Melissa via email today led to my changing clinics and leaving this review. I am currently $177 out of pocket and counting for recontouring two of three fillings Dr Nikhita did, which includes the filling she did partially amend in a subsequent appointment (and in the process of doing so exposed dentin which requires additional work), and have been advised that the third filling - which was so extensive the tooth should have either had a root canal or been extracted - has caused irreparable nerve damage. I went from sometimes experiencing pain when trying to brush the upper right teeth, to it and constant pain on the left side of my mouth that leaves me struggling to eat and drink and needing pain medication. Whether it is - (a) rescheduling two out of the last three appointments (b) still running significantly late on those appointments without forewarning, acknowledgement or apology (C) hammering through procedures to try make up time rather than giving patients the option to defer some procedures to another appointment (d) being told just because your appointment was rushed it doesn't mean that the work wasn't done properly (E) failing to acknowledge that there are issues with the dental work performed whilst attempting to repair the dental work, or (F) responding to being told that you don't feel your concerns have been listened to with sorry *if* you don't feel listened to - It all points to a lack of respect for patients and refusal to take genuine accountability for poor dental work and poor customer service. Such a shame for a clinic that started out so great. While you've lost me as a patient I hope you can use this feedback to improve the way you interact with people in the future.

Fantastic experience: I saw Lawrence for an emergency to fix a broken filling. He was very thorough with giving me options to fix my tooth and was gentle in providing treatment. Fantastic experience: I can highly recommend Bytes of Northcote Eco Dentistry. I visited them for an emergency crown and was so impressed and grateful for the careful work and the service. The colour match was perfect and 2 years on still have had no trouble whatsoever. This practice is extremely professional and very responsive in an emergency.

Negative experience: I had been a patient of BYTES for many years however my last visit in 2022 was enough to make me switch clinics. I saw a new dentist and was told I needed several procedures/have several issues which came as a surprise considering I get my teeth checked regularly and had not been told anything like this during previous visits. The actual teeth clean was painful and my mouth hurt for a couple of days which I’d never experienced before. I have since switched to another clinic and the dentist said I only needed one of the multiple treatments I was told I needed by the dentist at BYTES.

Negative experience: I have been going to bytes for a number of years and have had really good experiences with the care there. But the last couple of times I have felt that I am being pressured to get work done that I am not interested in. I feel the focus has shifted from painless natural dental care to how we can extract more money from you painlessly. Not going back.

Negative experience: A friend had to have her filling re-done by another dentist in Brunswick after complaining that it didint feel right and fell on deaf ears at Bytes. I had a root canal where the Bytes dentists took off way too much tooth, which I only found out when I went to a different reputable dentist. I didn't want nor needed a root canal and was fooled into getting one!! They are not eco dentists - the only thing eco about them is the cup you get given to rinse your mouth with. Ask them they'll tell you, it's hilarious and exposes their marketing ploy. As usual they're tesponse will be of denial to my review. The staff are great and friendly but beware of the dentist you choose. Do you're homework, there are many dentists in the area with great exoerience and many more years in the industry.

Fantastic experience: I love coming to Bytes Of Northcote it's a natural Dentist who have a holistic approach and welcome children as they have a playroom they also specialise in amalgam filling removals and Nadia who owns the business is very lovely she supports a lot of charities to the Dentists here are very helpful and the pricing is quite good compared to others and seeing that they are using natural products which makes all the difference to me as they removed my amalgam fillings which I had allergies from Situated at West Garth Northcote 74 High St ,parking availability side system.

I recently visited Bytes of Northcote to address a tooth infection I'd been ignoring for far too long because of this anxiety. I can't thank Melissa and the team enough for being helpful, considerate and gentle during the whole experience. I had been in pain for a long time and I can't begin to describe how much better I feel just one week later. Thank you so much for being so caring. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: Have been coming here for a while but unfortunately that will be ending. Asmono was great and the previous dentist too. However, now you seem to get someone different every time and of varying quality. The last visit I had was completely substandard and the dentist did not seem confident in what he was doing, yet the prices were still high. Will be finding a new dentist now. Fantastic experience: I’m one of those people who struggles to make myself go to the dentist because my body tenses up with fear and my mind races with all horrible interactions ive had in the past. Finally broke through and went to Eco Dentisty and they were so kind, professional, compassionate. The facilities are warm and modern, the staff are lovely and they talk you through each step of the process. Faith has been restored and I’m really grateful to have finally found a dentist I can trust.

Negative experience: If I could give no stars I would. Connor was the worst dentist I have ever been to. Went for a tooth extraction and he chipped another tooth in the process, was in extreme pain for days after. Made two appointments after to get some help, after calling in agony I was assured they will have a good look at and help me by the customer service person Miles, to arrive and be told by the same dentist there was nothing they could do except prescribe pain medication and wait....before even looking in my mouth. I went somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: Also as "Eco Dentistry", Superb clinic with a relaxing atmosphere. I ended up having to get a root canal and multiple fillings over a period of about 3 months and the level of service, friendliness and support from the entire team (3 different dental surgeons) was fantastic. There was never any hesitation to bring me in for a quick check up for any of the follow up pain I experienced, I'm disappointed I had to change dentist after leaving the city but my new dentist has commented saying the level of quality on such a difficult root canal is the best he's seen, a real credit to Dr. Craig & the rest of the team.

Fantastic experience: I really dislike dentists, and will do anything I can to avoid going, but Bytes of Northcote completely changed my opinion. From the first visit, I was truly surprised at how enjoyable the whole experience was. My dentist Jasmine was delightful, and very clear and upfront about the time needed for my procedures and how much everything would cost. (And a point to add here - Bytes of Northcote are the most reasonably priced dentists I've been to in Melbourne). The actual procedures themselves were absolutely fine - two fillings, and one wisdom tooth extraction - only slight discomfort when administering the anaesthetic, but the procedures themselves were FAST, painless and left me feeling fine. (My wisdom tooth extraction took about five minutes - absolutely incredible). I will never go to another dental clinic again, and can't recommend Bytes of Northcote highly enough. They are fantastic.

Fantastic experience: Dentist Craig made a thorough investigation into my dental health. He has a personable approach and explains clearly how he thinks I could invest more into my dental hygiene, while leaving 'no stones unturned' in thoroughly and PAINLESSLY cleaning the nooks and cranies in and around my teeth. I have not had a dentist leave me without pain in 10 years. I will be back (every 6 months). Nadia at the front desk makes you feel at home like you are walking into her lounge. The atmosphere is warm and cosy. My son really wanted to go back just to play. Figure that. Also there is a strong awareness about avoiding toxins in their dental procedures. This is their expertise and forte. Big thumbs up for Bytes of Northcote.

Fantastic experience: Went here after trying a few places up the road and in the city and will never go anywhere else again. The doctors and staff here are genuinely caring, don't rip you off and give you healthy alternative ways to achieve what you are after. They don't make you feel bad about your beliefs and provide an all round holistic approach. I'm so happy to be a patient here and this is coming from someone who has been scared of the dentist for over 15 years! They really do care and give you a little show bag full of goodies on your way out. 10/10 from me.
