Southside Dental Options

Negative experience: I attended this dental practice for approximately 2–3 years. Interacted with the front desk staff, hygienists, and dentists. Unfortunately, I would not recommend their services. At nearly every appointment, the dentist repeatedly questioned me about drug use, including whether I smoked or used substances. ( Just heaps of Soft Drink & Lollies ) During cleanings, the hygienist frequently positioned the suction tube poorly, pushing it against my tongue or too far back, which made the experience unnecessarily uncomfortable. One point nearly vomiting. Pain management was also an ongoing issue. I regularly had to request additional numbing injections, as the initial amount provided was consistently insufficient. Additionally, I was repeatedly encouraged to have X-rays taken at almost every visit, even when previous X-rays had been done only 1–2 weeks earlier. I eventually declined, as I was uncomfortable with the repeated radiation exposure and the added cost of $50 per side. Once I brought this up I didn't need anymore X-rays after that..... Also the front desk staff....... ill just leave it at that. Since switching to a new dentist, the difference has been clear. Numbing cream and adequate anesthesia are standard, my teeth are in the best condition they have been in, and I have not been charged for unnecessary X-rays. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: My whole family attends Southside Dental. We have had nothing but a positive experience. My daughter had her braces from here and now has that perfect smile. We love Tanja, who is very friendly and explains what needs to be done. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: Unfortunate my experience with Southside dental Options, which I have been attending for many years have disappointed me..I have seen so many dentist's & hygienists in this practice which have left and moved on, I have been thrown round like a ping pong ball. Today was the last straw for me to be humiliated in front of other staff for a dentist i have never seen! once again refused me treatment due to incompetent lack of communication all round..The front reception staff have always been of a good standard..dr villa, Dr Tanya kind & show compassion, I am disappointed with dr Sharma he showed me nothing but disrespect in the little times I have seen him, the hygienist Belinda, her mannerisms towards my dental care is poor & rough, she needs to look at her notes before using instruments that I strictly don't like & she has been told this each and every time that she consults with me..I was left stressed again today & i endeavour to move to another dental practice asap, upon waiting for further confirmation on dental procedure.

Fantastic experience: I honestly look forward to going to the dentist because of how excellent the service at Southside Dental is. Belinda is an absolute star with such a warm manner, and so helpful with all my questions about navigating dental health with a chronic illness. Dr Vilia did an unbelievable job on my front crown - making my smile truly symmetrical for the first time in my life! I changed health providers to one that best aligns with Southside Dental & haven’t looked back.

Fantastic experience: I am absolutely terrified of dentists. Haven’t been for probably 12 years. Had my front tooth break off on the weekend and was recommended to see Dr John. He was absolutely amazing as was the dentist nurse. Both very caring, kind and patient. Office staff were lovely as well. Yes, I’m still terrified about going again, but feel more at peace now. Highly recommend this clinic and Dr John.

Fantastic experience: Dr Jhalla, was so accomodating, made me feel at ease and was patient. She took on board what I wanted and didn’t pressure me to do anything out of my budget. I won’t go anywhere else anymore.

Negative experience: Very disappointed and unprofessional. I received a text reminder about my appointment but couldn’t respond straight away due to work. I still showed up on time, only to be told my appointment had been cancelled — with no notice. If you can send a message to confirm an appointment, surely you can send one to notify of a cancellation. There was no effort to explain or accommodate, just a dismissive attitude. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere. A basic level of courtesy and communication shouldn’t be too much to ask. I also agree with others regarding the reception staff — consistently rude and unwelcoming. They rarely manage a smile, which is a basic expectation for a front desk. This has been a long-standing issue at this practice, and while the hygienists and dentists are great, the front-of-house experience lets the whole place down.

Fantastic experience: After a couple of upsetting visits to another hygienist, I was very excited to see Kate today. Kate's level of care and empathy far outweighs the care I have received recently. She instantly relieves my anxiety and is happy to discuss my dental care in depth. And with support from Dr John, I know that my dental needs are in the right hands!

Positive experience: The dentist is lovely, the reception staff are standoffish & unfriendly, not approachable at all, wondering if it is because my client was on the government dental scheme?!

Fantastic experience: I have been seeing Kosha for around 15 years now, I have never met a dentist who shows such kindness and passion in her work. As someone who has severe anxiety with the dentist, she always makes sure I am comfortable and at ease. Procedures are always explained to me and there are never any hidden costs. The reception staff are also incredible - always very friendly and interesting to talk to.

Fantastic experience: As someone who hasn't been to the dentist in 10 years due to high dental anxiety, walked in having a panic attack and dr John was absolutely amazing!! Best anxiety dentist I've ever been to and I can not recommend him enough. Even when leaving he came out to give me a form for cheaper dental options for when I go back

Fantastic experience: After many years of neglecting the warning signs with my teeth I booked in to Southside Dental Options to get a full diagnosis and immediate treatment on a highly sensitive tooth. I was immediately at ease upon meeting Tanja and her wonderful and knowledgeable team. I received treatment for the sensitive tooth, a solid clean and also a comprehensive treatment plan going forward. Would recommend if you want very capable and very helpful and friendly dental services. Thumbs up! See you next time!

Negative experience: My daughter has very chalky teeth and with pregnancy they became very weak, single mum working and has a Health care card, she had a bad tooth ache and Noarlunga Dental approved her to go to a private dentist, she chose Southside Dental. The young male dentist made her feel awful about her teeth and said there was not enough funding from Noarlunga Dental to fix it all, he offered her a clean and she said no she wanted the aching tooth seen to, she left in tears, she contacted Nourlunga dental and said she still had tooth ache and needed it fixed they told her because Southside dental had already done treatment she would have to wait, my daughter told them what happened and didn't receive treatment...but Southside Dental billed for teeth cleaning that she said no to and did not receive , this looks like a deliberate attempt to take funding allocated to people with a low income. Luckily Noarlunga Dental believed what she had told them and can get her in to fix the tooth. Not very honest on Southside Dentals part! Well I thought this would have been sorted by me calling back, denied everything and said they did do a clean, and that I wasn't in there so I wouldn't no, practice manager wasn't in the room either but off course they are right, my daughter is not one to be untruthful, and you will stand by your business.

Fantastic experience: Broke a front tooth and next day had post and crown in, fabulous service, friendly staff, gentle Dentist for a nervous patient, can't recommend more highly .

Fantastic experience: Couldn't be happier with the care I was provided with by Dr Sharma and Ashleigh. I'm the first to admit that I'm generally terrified by dentists, but when I visited with pain and the eventual need for an extraction, I felt completely at ease with the professionalism shown over the entire "ordeal". They showed great understanding and genuinely seemed to care and as much as possible talked me through the procedure and enquired often about my comfort levels. I felt in safe hands and will absolutely be returning to ensure I stay on top of any dental issues. Compliments also to the caring reception staff.. in particular Nicole who explained all charges / rebates etc. Thanks gang!

Fantastic experience: I have just finished my orthodontics with both Villia and Alex. Every visit I was met by the amazing staff at the front counter who were always so happy and friendly and professional. The whole treatment process with Villia and Alex was super easy and I was kept up to date on everything that was happening. The results are amazing!!!!! I really wish I had done this years ago now. I love everything about this place, the decor and technology is state of the art, the space is welcoming and calming, and the reception staff and doctors and all so friendly and helpful. Negative experience: Listened and viewed a Very rude receptionist, speaking down to patients. She spoke rudely to me and my daughter as well. Shame you are entrusting this lady to engage with your clientele. She whispered to the other lady at desk and then pointed to an old lady at water fountain.. VERY RUDE RECEPTIONIST

Fantastic experience: I Could not be more thrilled with the experience at southside dental. This was my 3rd time having braces put on due to myself not wearing retainers in adolescence ( previously braces done by different dentist) and I was very nervous and embarrassed about having to have adult braces. But I was made to feel comfortable and I never felt judged by Tanja which I really appreciated. All the staff are so lovely & kind , I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this clinic to anyone. I’m so happy with my new smile and I have to admit I feel my teeth have never looked better and more perfect!

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to Southside Dental Options for years now, the staff here are so friendly and helpful that even after moving a fair way away I still travel to come to this dentist. I required braces and pretty significant double jaw surgery. Tanja and her staff were just amazing throughout the whole process. Would highly recommend coming here, and would do the braces and surgery all over again if I had to, but due to the great outcome I don’t need to!

Negative experience: Myobrace does not work!!! do not trust this, dentist should not tap into orthodontics. not worth $6000 for less crooked teeth. braces would have been a much better result for the same price

Negative experience: DENTISTS SHOULD NOT PERFORM ORTHODONTICS!!! terrible! my daughter was told to wait as her baby teeth will fall out by themselves and she would not need braces...3 years later we left that place and went to a real orthodontist and they removed the teeth for her. her teeth were now growing in the wrong spot because it was left too long and now she had to get braces at 17 because her teeth were going to cause too many issue...she is not happy

Negative experience: Never ever will I go here again. Went with bad tooth ache. I told then which tooth but didn't seem to care what I said. They drilled the wrong tooth. I kept calling saying it was still bad and just kept saying it will settle down. 3 days later told me to go to doctor to get antibiotics after id asked for them the day before and was told dont need them. I went to another dentist yesterday. Finally one listened and yep wrong tooth was done. So the new dentist fixed the right one. Guess what no more pain. I kept telling them it was wrong tooth but just never listened. So $200 for nothing. I should get a refund for this.

Fantastic experience: When i went today Declan was great, told me everything he was doing BEFORE he did it. Great for someone nervous at dentists! Professional, friendly staff. Lisa at the desk always welcoming with a smile and a chat :)

Negative experience: The staff were rude and inconsiderate. Went to get my permanent retainer wire reglued in one spot and had to hold the equipment while hygentist worked on my mouth then got charged $200 only for it to come lose again 5months later. Now they want to charge $200 again for it to be fixed. Do not reccomend going there at all.

Fantastic experience: Driving from Victoria to a funeral in Adelaide a front tooth veneer broke off. On an extremely tight time frame South Side Dental professionally repaired the tooth and the staff were so friendly and helpful. To say I was impressed would be an understatement, what a great group of delightful professionals. Thank you so much.
