Positive experience: Mike O’Reilly is a great dentist, he provides exceptional care and never once made me feel judged for all the fillings I need to have done. However, the customer service people on the front counter and phones have made comments that made me feel overwhelmed and worried about the amount of fillings I have to get done. I am aware of this and sometimes it makes me even more anxious to attend my appointments.

Positive experience: Nice facilities. Nice dentist who communicated well about what was happening etc. Was not expecting it to cost as much as it did, however it was the equivalent of 2 fillings, so in the end it was a reasonable price.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been seeing Dr. Rana since I was a child, 20+ years now, and have only ever had the best experiences with him. He’s friendly, incredibly reassuring and talks me through every process. He’s a fantastic dentist, would highly recommend. Also the new location is great, excellent for parking and easy to get to.

Fantastic experience: About my dentist - Dr Trushar Patel is a fantastic dentist and is very caring towards his patients. He always explains the dental plan and what to expect at each appointment. I feel very comfortable and at ease when attending my appointments, which is great as attending the dentist is not always people’s favourite thing to do. He also loves to run on time so you know you won’t be waiting, as long as you are on time as well. Dr Patel’s assistants are always really friendly and caring as well. About the practice - I really like how the centre has relocated to the Coles side of Marketown, as it’s much better for parking! The staff are really efficient and I’ve always found the practice really well run in terms of appointment management. Pricing is great too, especially if you’re an NIB member as they include check ups and cleans. Definitely recommend NIB Dental Newcastle!

Fantastic experience: The New NIB dental care centre is easy to find now at the market town shopping centre with loads of parking. I had a great experience with all the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Not long of a wait and my teeth were getting the treatment they needed, Dr. Faisal Rana and his assistant very professional and caring. The band new facility with very modern equipment and facilities, super clean and tidy made my visit easy in and out. Great service, great team and excellent centre.

Negative experience: Didnt care for the nurses whinging behind the desk so we could all hear them. Definately looking for another dental surgery.

Negative experience: The worst service I have ever had or witnessed. Younger reception staff are so far beyond rude I have no words to describe them. You wait months for an appointment, just to have it cancelled on the day and then need to wait another month. When you finally get there they tell there is a mix up and they given someone else your appointment. Even though you confirmed only the day before. Then pretend they are doing you the a favour by giving you an appointment in 2 weeks time. A couple of great dentists but you can never get in to see them. After many years, the service has never improved. Worse service than a public dentist and at premium price. Don’t bother pretending with some fake answer about contacting NIB to resolve. You do nothing, and in a shocking turn of events, don’t call at the booked in time. The health services and the fund of NIB are incompetent across the board. Don’t waste your time or money! You will need dentures before you can see a dentist.

Negative experience: NIB Dental is the WORST dental service you could ever choose. I made the mistake of going to the Glendale location after my husband recommended it soon after we moved to Newcastle. They have dentists that are straight out of school or from foreign countries with very little experience. I had one female dentist who did not know what she was doing - she needed to fill a cavity and it took her twice as long as it would an experienced dentist. The next day the filling POPPED OUT of my tooth!!! I had to go back into the centre and explain what happened. The staff didn't want to believe me until I showed them the part of my tooth that had popped out!!! They wanted her to redo my tooth for free - however, why would I want to go to the same dentist? They gave me a different dentist at my request. Again, it was another inexperienced dentist. He did a bit of a better job - or so I thought...however ,after leaving NIB and going to a highly skilled dentist in Honeysuckle who took xrays, my new dentist informed me that the tooth that was redone has a large air bubble/pocket where the filling should have been and now he will have to redo the tooth at my expense! NIB is the most unprofessional business employing only very green dentists who do not know what the hell they are doing. If they do have any dentists that are decent then they do not stay long - they get out of there as soon as possible. Their turnover rate is crazy. If you want to be a guinea pig and only see novice dentists, then go ahead, but for those of us who want our teeth to last then I would not advise that you use them. They are cheap and get cheap dentists for a reason!!! You'll actually end up paying double in the long-run to fix their mistakes. I will never go back there and tell everyone to stay clear.
