Negative experience: Terrible clinic – avoid at all costs! I went in with a very painful tooth that clearly needed a root canal, but they insisted on just filling it. Not surprisingly, less than a month later the pain came back. When I returned today, I only asked how much a root canal would cost. They didn’t examine my tooth or even look inside my mouth – they just checked my insurance. Then unbelievably, they tried to charge me $50 as a “consultation fee.” That is pure dishonesty – there was no consultation at all! When I refused to pay for something I never received, the staff were rude and unprofessional, and the dentist actually told me “I don’t want to see you anymore.” I even have my tooth X-ray as proof, which clearly shows that a root canal was needed from the beginning. Any qualified dentist can confirm this. They misdiagnosed, gave me the wrong treatment, and then tried to charge me unfairly. This place is money-driven, disrespectful, and provides poor treatment. Stay away from this clinic if you value your health and your money.

Fantastic experience: Dr NIDA Sdat is a very welcoming dentist whom has a very calm and polite persona about her. She made me at peace because I was on the verge of crying from the tooth and nerve pain that I was enduring. She took the time to thoroughly go through all the different tests with me to find out what really was going wrong and when we finally found out she numbed my tooth pain gave me the different options and gave me time to think about it when I finally decided she asked me is it OK for her to proceed she took the time to do an emergency procedure for me regardless of time Dr NIDA really took her time to make sure that I was ok both physically and mentally Unfortunately at the moment I now have to undergo root canal but I know that I will be in Safe hands Thank you dr NIDA

Fantastic experience: Great service and easily located in a shopping centre. The dentists there are very knowledgeable, and provide caring and personable service. Everything is always explained from the outset, so you know what to expect. This is also my health care's preferred dentist, so I don't have any out-of-pocket expenses for routine checkup and clean, which is a huge bonus!

Negative experience: Been using Pacific Smiles for years, no longer as I had the audacity of being 6 minutes late for an appointment. I've always had to wait for my appointments in the past and not had an issue. Staff very unhelpful and rude also

Negative experience: Very disappointed. I had the appointment booked for over three months and they canceled just few hours before. The explanation was that it wasn’t worth for the dentist to be there only for my appointment. I took time off, it’s not a free service and it is the worst excuse ever.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly and professional dental clinic with modern equipment and very structured approach. Have been there a number of times now and am very happy with Dr Aaron Manoharan, who is very skilled and professional. I had a procedures that required local anaesthetics, which all of them he placed skilfully. The clinic staff are also great. I had to cancel a number of times on short notice and they were very understanding and helpful in finding new appointments. Let's be real not every medical clinic is flexible like that. Booking reminders via phone and SMS are helpful and I can claim my health fund's rebate instantly through them, which is great. I forgot my health fund card the other day and even though I had to pay out of pocket, they issued me the invoice and showed me exactly the provider number and procedure number, which made it easy to claim back.

Fantastic experience: I’ve never enjoyed going to the dentist but Dr Manoharan is hands down the best dentist I’ve seen. He is super lovely and kind, has such a high level of care and his friendly nature makes me feel at ease!

Negative experience: I had a bad experience at both this clinic and the city location (they also run NIB Collins Street). I always leave feeling confused, and talked down to. Today, I felt manhandled by the dentist on duty. I would advise avoiding this place.

Fantastic experience: Having a fear of dentist I hadn't been in 16 years. Unfortunately due to a toothache I couldn't hold off and had to go. My fear slowly faded out throughout my appointment, my dentist was quite informative throughout the appointment and stopped when I needed a brake. Now I'll be more confident in going to the dentist in the near future.

Negative experience: I had a terrible experience at this dental clinic. The staff were extremely unprofessional and rushed through my cleaning with a rough approach that left me feeling uncomfortable. It felt like they were just going through the motions rather than providing genuine care. To top it off, the receptionist was impatient and unhelpful, adding unnecessary stress to the visit. I would not recommend this clinic—it was a complete waste of my time, and I expected much better service.

Negative experience: This is hands down the worst dentist experience I’ve ever had. It started with reception where I was made to feel small and less than and a burden simply because I didn’t have my healthcare card - but had the number and have never had any issues with this with other medical or well being practitioners. I then kept receiving weird looks from the receptionist and dental assistant that made me uncomfortable before I’d even gotten into the room. The dentist herself had no bedside manner, was quite rough and despite having many dentist experiences including a root canal, this was by far the most painful for a simple cleaning. The dentist let her exasperation show that my tongue kept getting in the way despite me not consciously even trying to do so. She then randomly left to go discuss further treatments with the receptionist and once again I was made to feel bad for not having my health care card on me despite being able to provide them with my coverage limits and inclusions. Then considering the website says it’s a fixed price place - $265 and X-rays that weren’t communicated the cost about later, I will not be returning here nor recommending it.

Fantastic experience: Among many things, the tooth extraction that was conducted on me was the most painless experience I had.

Negative experience: I’m very disappointed with my experience at Pacific Smiles Dental at Northland Shopping Centre. The day before my appointment, I specifically called to ask if they accept Medibank insurance and if my work insurance would cover the visit. They assured me that it would, so I booked an appointment for a teeth cleaning the next morning. When I arrived, the receptionist immediately took my insurance card and asked me to scan a QR code to fill out a form. Before I could even finish filling out the form, they told me I could go in for the cleaning. The whole process took about 15 to 20 minutes. However, I was extremely disgusted when the dentist made me swallow the dirty water left in my mouth instead of providing a basin to spit it out. I’ve never had this happen at any other dental clinic in Melbourne. Before I went in for the cleaning, the receptionist swiped my insurance card once. After the cleaning, they swiped my card two more times trying to process the payment, only to tell me that my insurance didn’t cover the service. I was speechless! When I arrived, you took my insurance card—weren’t you supposed to check if it was covered? And the receptionist looked so impatient! I had already called the day before to confirm everything before making the appointment. While it’s partly my fault for not realizing my insurance covers dental surgery and not dental care, this experience was incredibly frustrating. I won’t be coming back here again!

Positive experience: Although the dental service is good, having been here for the last 4 years, I have had to sign a nee patient form every single time and it’s getting a bit infuriating that they cannot have a working system that doesn’t make me repeatedly enter the same information.

Fantastic experience: Dr Phang is so great with my 6 year old! He actually looks forward to his appointments. She's also wonderful with nervous adults and gives you plenty of room to take breaks if you're struggling. Also saw Dr Manoharan for an emergency and he was great; very calming manner. Prices are affordable too.

Negative experience: DON’T DO IT! I regret ever going to this place, I’ve not chewed on the left side of my mouth for months now and have to decide before tomorrow to pull the tooth I paid $2500 for them to ‘fix’ with a crown or have a $3000 root canal. I’ve just finished my 3d round of antibiotics in 2-3 months, the final round to buy me a few days to get organised. I visited the place about 10 times, and not once did they have a qualified dental assistant, they didn’t know most of the tools or procedures and most visits were up to or over 2 hours. It all felt really rough, haphazard and unprofessional. I feel terrible writing such a bad review as they were really lovely, but at no point did I feel like I was in good hands. My first visit for the crown it took maybe 4-5 attempts to make a mould for my crown, over 2 hours. The assistant had never made the mould mix/used the machine before. An hour after I got home, it fell off and I had to go straight back, and they used a more permanent concrete to set. When I went back for the proper crown, it didn’t fit, so they had to reaffix the temporary crown. When I went for the resized one, I started the first round of antibiotics as it was infected. They told me to come back for a 5th visit (!!!) during which they said it looked fine but come back for a 6th visit in a month to check, when I said, ‘I’m sorry, I’m just returning to my regular dentist’. Which I’ve done now, and they’ve said its very infected and needs to be pulled or root canal. I’m aware there is always risk of needing a root canal after a crown, but I have no doubt (and 2 other dentists confirm), all of the pulling it in and out, definitely would have increased the likelihood of this occurring. I ended up working on weekends to make up for all of the time I wasted on these 5 visits. I understand people need to learn but if I’m spending this much money and after so many disasters, I just want qualified people doing the work. When I spoke to the assistant, she told me she was at uni studying a course completely unrelated to dentistry, so I have no clue what the qualifications they require staff to have. The woman on the reception came in to support twice and seemed to be way more competent so I have no idea why she's just doing customer service and why she couldn't have just done the work instead. The 2 other dentists I’ve seen elsewhere, use much newer technology and don’t even use these old school moulds and the uncomfortable plates they use for x-rays, which I had scores of. I really wish I’d just stayed with my regular dentist. I only changed as this was a ‘preferred’ provider for my health cover, but I’ve since changed that. I’m sorry but avoid this place. I’ve been in pain for months, I've missed so much work and I have no idea how I’m going to pay for the mess they made with just 1 day before the real pain really kicks back in. I still don’t know if I’ll pull the tooth or have a root canal and can’t really afford either and really don’t want a big gap in my mouth… they're really lovely people, but just don’t do it.

Fantastic experience: After an emergency phone call. Pacific Smiles Preston fit me in last minute. I was seen by Dr Urvashi Payal Devi who was very kind and clear about what needed to be done. She was very reassuring throughout the procedure and then was very clear with the aftercare instructions. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, when I was in quite a bit of pain.

Negative experience: I’ll never go back. They have always advertised no gap payment if you have health insurance. This visit they said the fund i was with they wont honour the no gap, I had to pay $84.50 extra. My partner was quoted $190 for a clean and checkup, but then they charged $212. They are there just to charge top dollar with no ethics. Don’t go there

Negative experience: After attending this dentist for 2 years I was given a dismissive consultation by Dr Yujin Park who then refused to perform the procedure half way through. I do not understand how a health professional who’s duty it is to help their patient would walk out on the procedure leaving their patient vulnerable and with no solution. I then had to look for another dentist elsewhere to complete the procedure while my face was half numb and I was refused help from Dr Yujin and was told that all other dentists were busy. Despite this clinic being close to my home I cannot bring myself to attend again after this horrible experience.

Our dentist - Dr Siddhika Sathyamoorthy took the time to explain everything in detail, and she was very kind and gentle with my 2 year old. Every visit to this dentist has been a great experience, highly recommend these guys!

Fantastic experience: Excellent Dentist right in Northland. The interior is modern and new and the staff were all helpful and friendly. I only went for a clean and checkup and it was all handled very professionally and they explain everything they do and why as they go along, which few other dentist's have done for me in the past. Overall very pleased with the service provided and for my health fund it was all covered with no gap.
