Fantastic experience: I mostly see the hygienist Mursil. She’s efficient, thorough with cleanings and is always very pleasant to talk to. I highly recommend Leading Edge and seeing Mursil for cleaning.
Fantastic experience: I was recommended to see Dr. Brett Taylor at Leading Edge Dentistry about a month ago and I’m so glad I followed through. From the first appointment, Dr. Brett was warm, professional and genuinely caring. He doesn’t just focus on your teeth—he looks at the whole picture. He picked up signs of other health concerns and organised a sleep study for me, which revealed I have sleep apnea. His ongoing support, including follow-up calls and emails has been amazing. He really does CARE and puts you in touch with the right professionals. He also took the time to explain everything clearly, discussed my teeth and gum health and gave me practical ways to improve it ( I can already see the difference!) Dr. Brett is personable, funny and easy to talk to, and his clinic is fitted with the most state-of-the-art equipment I’ve seen. Without a doubt, he’s now my go-to dentist and will be getting my family to see him. Highly recommend!

Very sadly the norm in my profession, when seeing new patients, is a rushed 30 minute check, x-rays, clean and fluoride, How do you get to understand someone's situation while trying to do everything at once? How do you help people understand how easy it is to make healthy choices? You will live a longer life because you now know how to eliminate gum inflammation (a risk factor for heart attack, stroke and dementia). You will live a a longer life because we picked up your sleep apnoea and now it's getting treated. Sleep apnoea can cause increased blood pressure, depression, anxiety, metabolic syndrome, liver dysfunction, insulin resistance, among other problems. I'm glad we got to meet you when we did so we can make a difference. That's what makes my job so rewarding.

Fantastic experience: I'm at the beginning of my much needed dental journey. Brett and I are in it for the long haul. For someone who has a massive dental phobia (for good reason!!) I managed not to run away and actually committed to the process that will allow me to smile again. Brett gave me the confidence not to jump out the window like I normally would have considered. Fantastic experience: Loved how well Dr. took onboard, calmly and simply explained his findings after neglecting my mouth throughout my adult life. Reception was outgoing and friendly and unknowingly until advised credited to the balance of my consult for referencing the advertisement that got delivered into my letterbox. His equipment is incredibly advance & I was blown away with how simple a quote complex procedure was made.
Fantastic experience: I must accept the fact that the staff at Leading Edge Dental are both friendly, efficient and also forgiving if you forget an appointment. On top of this, they do a very thorough job when it comes to caring for your teeth. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a dentist who is courteous, understanding and efficient and who does a very good job.
"The dentist is courteous"? What have you been smoking Lionel? Are you starting to lose it? Should I call the kids and get them to hide all of the sharp objects at home :) I've known Lionel well north of 50 years. He knows I'm not courteous. He, however, is an absolute gentleman, a favourite with the team, and sharp as a tack at 90. And he does a much better job of looking after his teeth than his grandkids. Fantastic experience: I was skeptical about the painless injection, but it was the first time I’ve been to a dentist where the experience of getting a filling was truly painless. Offering headphones with calming music also made a big difference. It was the best experience I’ve ever had at a dentist.
Thanks Michael. It always makes me a little sad so many people have had bad dental experiences. As you now know, it's really not that hard to do things painlessly. It just takes a minute or two of extra time, and some very simple skills. I try to teach as many dentists as I can the technique. I don't know how many of them actually do it though. I hope I'll turn the tide some day :)

Oh Angela. While I appreciate the kind words, you have made my life very difficult. Every new patient who reads this review is going to be profoundly disappointed when they actually meet me. All my old patients are going to be wondering "where's the real Brett gone? Who is this imposter"?
I'm glad you've had a good experience so far. I'm very attuned to people who are scared of the dentist. I had very bad experiences as a child, and still remember the fear. That has shaped the way I treat people as I do try very hard to make everything as pleasant as possible. I can't make it fun (I pretend it's fun, but I know I'm kidding myself), but I can make it tolerable, and hopefully in time as trust builds take the fear away.
I have one nice man I treat who went 44 years without seeing a dentist because of fear. We had to sedate him to get his treatment done at first, but now he comes in every 6 months and doesn't blink an eye at whatever we do. Hopefully we'll get the thorn out of your paw Angela and turn you around too
Fantastic experience: Sue the receptionist was so accommodating & polite I call in for an emergency appointment she booked me in within a few hours. Got my wisdom tooth sorted out by the best dentist in town Brett & Margot. It took them less than 20 minutes to pull out my wisdom tooth without any issues or complications. He was thorough with his assessment & consultation. Chatting with you all the time to get you at ease before he does his magic. If you’re worried about parking heaps of free street parking or if you’re using public transport it’s right next to the Penshurst train station. Cute photo Doug. Glad you took it at the beginning of the appointment, not during the extraction. I need to correct some factual errors however in your review:
1. That wasn't Sue, that was Donna, my part-time emergency backup receptionist (AKA Mrs Brett the Dentist). She wasn't wearing her name tag yesterday and has been reprimanded as a result (I forgot to turn the jug on when I left this morning).
2. "No complications"? Where were you sitting when I was taking it out? Some happy place? The curly tip of the root broke off and I had to dig it out. I'm glad I made it look easy, but it wasn't.
3. I was chatting the the whole time because I was the one who was nervous (Doug towers over you like a Greek God and makes Adonis look out of condition. I needed this procedure to go well),
4. Margot is the best. You got that bit right,

Fantastic experience: I had an exceptional experience with Mursal, the dental hygienist from Leading Edge Dental from the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by the receptionist (Sue) and comfortable. Mursal was incredibly thorough and gentle during my cleaning, making sure to explain each step of the process. Her attention to detail was impressive, and she provided valuable advice on maintaining my oral health that I hadn't received from previous hygienists. The atmosphere in the clinic was friendly and professional, which made my visit enjoyable. I highly recommend Mursal to anyone looking for a skilled and compassionate dental hygienist. Fantastic experience: I have my teeth cleaned regularly at Leading Edge Dental and it is painless as Brett uses the latest equipment and is very thorough
Fantastic experience: Hygiene very good and thorough. The mouth-opening device caused some pain in pressing on my gums below my lower front teeth. Perhaps this is only because I may have extra-sensitive spots there, but perhaps it could be made softer.

Fantastic experience: Bret is very much patient oriented and very competent in the subject.He resolved an issue with one of my earlier root canal treatments that my previous dental groups in the US could not identify and treat.I am very glad that Bret sorted this out with the correct diagnosis and treatment.

Fantastic experience: The team here is great. They take extensive photos and x-rays and sit you down and explain and show you what needs to be done and how you can care better for your teeth and mouth. Always a pleasant chat and friendly atmosphere. No fuss dentistry.

Fantastic experience: I travel from Cronulla to Penshurst to go to the Dentist, that says something about Leading Edge, I once wouldn't cross the road! Systems service and skill second to none, get onto a 6 monthly checkup and eliminate any expensive surprises.

Thanks Lesley. I'm actually a bit need phobic (particularly into veins) which is why I try so hard to give painless, stress free injections. There's a trick to it, which I try to teach other dentists at every opportunity. Hopefully, in time, word will get out :)
Fantastic experience: My wife and I transferred from our previous dentist to Brett recently and having just completed a difficult route canal procedure, I can only praise Brett for his skill, and for the first time in at least 4 years, am confident , that the problem tooth is now fixed, which is quite a relief. I was impressed by the thoroughness of Brett's approach from the start and the whole process was painless throughout. The whole team are very experienced and friendly and made us feel comfortable immediately. We have no hesitation in recommending Brett and his team. I am updating my comments at 7th February 2024, to reaffirm my complete satisfaction with Brett and his team. Since my first contact , roughly 3 years ago, the health of my teeth generally, has improved significantly, and most importantly, the health of my gums is excellent. This has meant that I haven’t needed fillings or any other repair work since Brett carried out root canal work a few years ago. I have followed the advice to floss, use Piksters and brush my teeth twice every day as recommended by Brett and his team and the results speak for themselves. Fantastic experience: Very thorough examination, very happy that I can choose what I want done to my teeth. Very friendly staff, they made me feel comfortable.
Fantastic experience: I live overseas and was home visiting family and friends. I had an emergency root canal problem and Brett was able to fit me in to start the process. The work was complicated through an already existing crown. (I had never used this Dentist practice before). Brett followed up by sending my UK dentist a detailed report and copies of the X-Rays for them to complete the work. I also asked my UK Dentist about the quality of Brett's work and they were impressed by his work and communication. I found the whole experience of seeing Brett and his excellent staff Margot and Susan to be great. I'd recommend using them if looking for a new dentist.

My old receptionist (no inverted commas for her, she really is old) still gets dragged out of retirement to pitch in occasionally, a full 50+ years after she started work here. And Margot, my brilliant dental assistant, has only worked in two practices in 35 years. and has vowed to stay here until she dies. Or I've threatened to kill her if she leaves. I know death is involved somehow in her leaving. And my three hygienists, who you will meet soon, are all also great. Fantastic experience: I keep returning to Brett and his entire team are excellent! 2 of my adult children have returned to see him as their dentist (one of them has serious issues with their teeth - like mum!), and the other brings her partner along as well - and in the future there's a few kids to throw into the mix. I think he sees my eldest grandchild as well. Brett must feel as if he's being taken over. My wish is to have us all turn up, one after the other, some day......I think he'd retire shortly after.........when I started seeing Brett all those decades ago, I hadnt been to a dentist for over 12 years (explains how much I detested dentists!) And he's the only one I've ever went back to a second time - thats a hell of a lot of trips to the same dentist....... he must be alright........

Fantastic experience: HIGHLY RECOMMEND - I was recommended to see Dr Brett Taylor by my mother in Perth and as the old adage goes, Mothers really do know best! Susan at the front desk was kind and very personable and put me at ease before my procedure. Dr Brett talked me through my options and his years of experience and expertise shone. My procedure was completely painless, which for a tooth removal I was definitely not expecting. Dr Brett's technique for painless injection was fantastic (part of the reason I have put off going to the dentist was due to the needles, now I don't have to worry about that) After my painless procedure I was given a post treatment plan and Dr Brett personally followed up with a call the next day to check on his handiwork. Could not recommend this Dental Clinic enough!!!

Fantastic experience: As a person who has dental phobia, I can say that I was highly impressed with Dr.Brett Taylor skills-he was just great. He made the whole experience surprisingly bearable. He was very kind and gentle and talked through each step during the procedure of trying to save my tooth and finally to extract it. Everything was well explained. Fantastic experience: I saw Brett yesterday as a new patient with a toothache. After Brett had explained what had happened to my tooth, extremely good x-rays and what he thought should be done, he extracted the problem wisdom tooth. I actually didn’t feel a thing and today I’m pain free. Brett actually phoned me today to see how I was. That’s how you build a relationship with your patients. Thank you Brett. Highly recommend.
Negative experience: The dental hygienist was excellent, really warm, friendly energy and made me feel very comfortable while cleaning my very sensitive teeth and gums. The main dentist Dr Brett Taylor was very competent, he removed wire from my upper and lower teeth and cleaned the residual glue off. The price for the clean and wire removal ended up being $600. $245 for the top wire and $245 for the bottom wire, and then the excess for the clean. I was not informed that this was going to be the price, and only told at the end. Not everyone has $600 to spend on wire removal. If I knew this was the price in the beginning I would have gone elsewhere. I will not be going back here. Dr Brett did a good job on my teeth but I’m completely put off by the pricing and how it was handled.
Ah Maria. Thank you for the feedback and another learning opportunity. You make "wire removal" on someone with sensitive teeth seem a lot easier than it is. First you have to grind through the 6 fillings overlaying the wire. Then you have to lever the wire out. Then you have to carefully remove all of the bonded filling off the 6 teeth the wire was bonded to, being super careful to drill away only the filling and not the tooth (which is exactly the same colour). Of course this is a lot harder if the person who originally put the wire on was sloppy and let the filling flow under the gum. Did I mention it's even harder on people with sensitive teeth? And the fee for all of that ($245) was the same as the cost of the smallest filling we do (which would have been a lot easier). You can always find someone to do something cheaper. I don't think you would have found someone to do it better though. I take a lot of care with everything I do, and just because I make it look easy doesn't mean it is easy. I do apologise for not telling you the price beforehand though. When people who aren't regular patients ring up to have a specific optional procedure done I assume they've either done their own research on the price, or they are aware of my reputation and don't care that much about the price. Making that assumption in your case was obviously a mistake and I have learnt my lesson. Please make sure you find another dentist to take x-rays and do a checkup up. I'll do that for you for nothing as a sign of goodwill if you want and to reinforce the lesson you have taught me. You can leave the bad review up though. I get worried people think all the good ones are false because there are no bad ones. Everyone makes mistakes. The trick is to learn from them.
Fantastic experience: The entire team are amazing! After having a horrible experience at another dentist I decided to give Leading Edge a go. Best decision! Everyone was so lovely and happy to have a chat. Brett explained everything to me about my teeth, gums and even the reason for my tongue shape. I was also educated on how to fix issues in the future. It felt a lot more personal than the other clinics I've been to and you can tell Brett has a love and interest in his job. Jess was also amazing cleaning my teeth. Great dental hygenist. She explained each step to me and what she was doing. It was the most painless clean I've ever had.

Dentistry is scary enough for a lot of people without adding "scared of getting in trouble for not coming in sooner" to the equation. I'm glad you you feel you were educated without being scolded. Fantastic experience: Leading Edge Dental- I can't speak highly enough of Brett (Dentist) and his Team. Brett invests his time and money into the latest technologies to ensure his patients' get the best possible care. I had unsightly worn teeth, which affected my self esteem and ultimately the longevity of my teeth. I invested in a full "mouth makeover", crowns and bridges. Brett is a perfectionist, I absolutely love my new smile! I have much more confidence now. My new smile, is perfect and looks natural. I am a fussy person and I like "natural, bio-compatible products" and Brett had no hesitation considering and delivering on my many requests. Negative experience: Expected scale and clean by the dentist and follow up to procedure done. But he said the hygienist does it he doesn’t. I pay for a dentist not an apprentice or nurse.
I apologise for the misunderstanding Matthew. As I explained to you at the time, the "apprentice or nurse" is an Oral Health Therapist (often called a hygienist). She has a degree from the University of Sydney that takes 3 year full time to complete. Oral Health Therapists are highly trained, and specifically look after a patient's gums and preventive needs. I employ 3 Oral Health Therapists, and all of them are fabulous. I'm flattered you think I'd do a better job, but I'm the first to admit they're better at cleaning teeth than me.
Fantastic experience: The team here have always been fantastic! Brett always has some exciting new technology or information to share which shows a real dedication to his work. The lady who cleaned my teeth on my visit is and has always been highly professional and has a great attitude - exactly what you would want from a dentist.

The practice opened some time in the late 1800s, so I've got to say you're looking fabulous for your age :) The "practice's" most loyal patients go back to the 40s and 50s, however you're in the hall of fame as one of my most loyal patients, having started seeing me just a few months after I graduated in 1985. It's a miracle you've got any teeth left at all really given how little I knrw back then :)

Fantastic experience: I first saw the team at Leading Edge Dental around 15+ years ago as an extremely anxious patient. Dr Taylor was kind, friendly and had all sorts of tricks to make me less anxious. Fast forward several years (and no it didn't take 15!) and I am dental anxiety free and actually enjoy visiting.
