Fantastic experience: I booked my 4 year old son in for his first Dentist appt at Shire Smiles and the team were so lovely. I had tried to prep him to make the experience exciting and they completely made him feel at ease and excited too. They welcomed the whole family (including my 2 year old) and were so kind and patient. Explained things in a way my son could understand but didn't rush him or overwhelm him. They went at his speed and even played Paw Patrol for him whilst sitting in the chair. The dentist and receptionist took the time to get to know our family and we genuinely enjoyed our visit. It didn't feel clinical or sterile, had a super nice warm vibe. Will definitely be back and booking in the whole family.

Fantastic experience: I’ve had a custom mouthguard fitted through the team at shire smiles that I was very happy with when living in the Sutherland shire. after relocating to Queensland and misplacing I contacted the team to see if it was possible to have a replacement made. Raquel organised for a replacement to be made swiftly and organised for it to be delivered via auspost to my new address. They went above and beyond to accomodate this for me and I highly value their customer service.

Fantastic experience: At 81 I am naturally concerned about keeping my teeth and gums healthy, always attending various dentists every 6 months as I moved locations. A few months ago, on Saturday, a bank holiday week end, I woke up with a raging tooth ache. I contacted my regular dentist who could not fit me in, in desperation I remembered when parking my car at Westfield Miranda that I had noticed a dentist, Shire Smiles, in the adjacent street. I phoned Shire Smiles explaining my pain to the receptionist who, after taking advice, told me that though the practice was fully booked I should come in as Dr Michael had agreed to help me. Dr Michael’s treatment numbed my pain, including root canal preparation. I was amazed when he said if you experience any more pain during the bank holiday contact me immediately. With that kind of service, I returned to Shire Smiles to continue treatment which included my 6 months check-up. Frankly I have never had such a thorough whole mouth, teeth and gum analysis and evaluation, leading to an advisory, staged and costed treatment plan. This has been successfully completed with Dr Michael’s ‘pain free’ expertise. Apart from the clinical excellence of Dr Michael and his dental nurses, Shire Smiles exudes a tranquil ‘Spa like’ reception area where you can be assured of a supportive welcome. Needless to say, my family now have decided to become patients and like me have experienced Shire Smiles excellent service.

Negative experience: I initially chose Shire Smiles due to needing a new dentist & practice and was hopeful after my first visit. However, my experience quickly deteriorated due to several incidents that left me feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable which ultimately leads to my decision not to return. During one visit, I arrived late due to exhaustion and parking difficulties. While I understand the importance of punctuality, I felt the response from the practice was overly critical and lacked empathy, despite my sincere apology. The situation was handled unprofessionally and made me feel judged rather than supported. Another time, I encountered an issue with my payment processing. While I was actively trying to resolve the matter, the dental assistant became visibly rude, annoyed and impatient, which made the situation unnecessarily stressful. Although an apology was later given, the initial interaction felt unprofessional and disrespectful. These experiences made it clear to me that the practice lacked the level of understanding and professionalism in a healthcare environment. I hope Shire Smiles takes this feedback to heart and works on improving how they handle challenging situations to create a more welcoming and supportive experience for their patients and potential future clients...

For a relatively 'young' dentist, he has the experience of a longer experienced dentist but with the knowledge of modern techniques. Michael assisted a dentist previously at Burwood who had 40 years experience. Michael learned from that dentist. It is that reason I changed dentists once Michael started his practice that was closer to my home. In addition, his dental practice has all new equipment, about 3 years old. The staff are friendly and helpful. The practice is located across the road from Westfields Miranda or parking is generally not a problem.. I'm 70 years old and I totally recommend Shire Smiles.
