Negative experience: I’m really disappointed with my experience today. My daughter’s appointment was scheduled for 12pm, and we were not seen until 1:12pm. over an hour later. Their standard appointment time is 15 minutes, yet we were kept waiting far beyond that with no communication or updates. I never saw the doctor come out to call any patients, so I’m not sure if Doctor (Mashal J) was on a break, but making patients wait this long for a private-billing appointment is completely unacceptable. Proper time allocation and communication should be a basic standard. When I politely asked the receptionist for an estimated wait time, her response was rude and dismissive. She said they “don’t know why the doctor is running behind”, and that it “depends on the patients too,” all delivered in a very unprofessional tone. For a private practice that charges patients, long waiting periods without transparency or courtesy are not acceptable. This experience has made me seriously reconsider returning.

Fantastic experience: I visited Dr Darwish on a Saturday with toothache as my regular dentist was closed. Not only was he extremely gentle, kind and thorough he knew that I may not return as I would return to my regular dentist for further care. Dr Darwish was incredibly polite and helpful in every manner possible. I regret not asking for the receptionist’s name along with the DA’s name as all were so lovely and welcoming. I am so very grateful.

Negative experience: Dr Dhanushka Algama, provides a poor experience which lacks compassion, kindness and does not instil a patient with confidence in their medical practitioner. Dr Algama became frustrated at a fairly routine question from a patient, being I am not sure what that means can you please explain. He then proceeds to give a blunt explanation, writes a prescription for antibiotics without saying a word, hands it to me and says thats all. He left me feeling uncared for and worried I had been prescribed the wrong medication. Honestly shocked he has made past medical school without picking up any bedside manner at all. Avoid Dr Dhanushka Algama.

Negative experience: I attended MedicalOne Waurn Ponds on 3 September 2025. I wasn’t informed of out-of-pocket fees despite being asked for my Medicare and Health Care Card, and assumed it was bulk billed. After a 20-minute consultation where I was only given a blood test request and a prescription for an over-the-counter medicine, I was later charged $135. I received a phone call asking for my bank card details before even explaining the amount, which felt unprofessional and accusatory. The invoice was then emailed and I paid promptly. The lack of transparency and the way the payment was handled were very disappointing. Patients should be clearly told about fees before seeing the doctor.

Negative experience: Been here a few times but never felt satisfied. Misdiagnosed more than once, once I had jaw pain and was told it was nerve-related, but it turned out to be a tooth issue. Last week, I booked a 1:10pm appointment and wasn’t seen until 2pm. Plus: It’s mixed billing, but the private fee is way too much for such poor service. So here's the warning: avoid this place at all costs.What on earth are they doing? Consistently disappointing.

Negative experience: I had bad response yesterday 1st of may when I had go to see a doctor for my result, I was told that they didn’t have them when they already there, they cancel my appointment when I ask who the new doctor gonna see, the receptionist LINDA was rude to me,hung up when I called back I said what happened she said it was me hung up because she didn’t like my voice and my career with me said that she shouldn’t be so rude to me.
Negative experience: We understand there had been a medical emergency this morning. My wife had an phone appointment booked in at 9am still has not received a call from Dr Ahmed. She spoke to the reception at 9.10am and was told she would be called. Has been trying to call the centre but no one is answering the phone.
Negative experience: There were some good doctors but they have all left. The remaining ones are not good if you have chronic conditions. They don’t update your medication properly in your referral, they always have meds I took years ago! Good luck trying to get a doctor to correct your medical certificate if they listed the wrong dates. They claim your symptoms are unusual as if you’re lying and I’ve had one doctor tell me in order to also discuss my other health conditions that will charge extra, which is fine, but comes across as very transactional. I would go elsewhere, after going to this clinic for 15 years.

Positive experience: Dr Monique Couch is absolutely amazing, however, whenever you call, you are put on hold for at least 5 minutes, my most recent call, I was put on hold for 8 minutes.

Fantastic experience: Dr Monique Couch was incredible, I was super nervous for my appointment, her absolute warming, patient self really helped me when I was feeling overwhelmed, her energy was super vibrant, and her ability to comfort me, ask if I was okay and show endless levels of compassion really made a difference, would definitely recommend her!

Negative experience: One of the worst clinics I've ever attended! Currently filling complaints to the governing bodies and I already know several doctors are being investigated. I'm not sure why some of these doctors are working there when all they do is make your life harder and more stressful, You do the right things and follow the rules of the law, but their judgement and discrimination is second to none, Disgusting, Some of us are doing the right thing!
Fantastic experience: I came here feeling a bit sorry for myself (*whispers*: manflu) and a tad sheepish because it was Sunday and my regular doctor's was closed. It was 1130AM and I could have gone to one of the few bulk billers roundabouts but, ehhhrr, I did not feel like driving far or waiting long. I was hesitant at the fee. I overcame that through need. The receptionist, Anabell, and the doctor (DR ANUSHIA VIJAYADASS) were just lovely. Actually, Dr Vijayadass was beyond lovely: calming, assuring, informative; she gave me typical advice and prescription but other, very helpful advice I had not had before. I followed both typical and first-time advices and now, a day and a bit later and Im feeling much better. Decor is lovely. Clean. Nice place indeed. Edit (3.11.23): Dr George Joseph is incredible, so caring, exacting and helpful. Edit (2.12.24): Don't call to make a booking, use the website's form. You can Continue As Guest. Chances are if you call, reception will abruptly put you on hold because they seem to priotise desk-front customers even tho that person just arrived. Nothing personal, lotta businesses do this, it's a garbage system anywhere I experience it. Website is ace.

Fantastic experience: Since having a baby and moving to Geelong we needed a new family doctor/medical centre. I was given several names of local doctors but chose Medical One for the location and number of doctors. We have needed to see the doctors and nurses recently. Since our first appointment in 2023 I couldn't be more impressed with the level of care our family has received. The staff are exceptionally friendly and efficient. I feel welcome and at ease from the moment I walked in. Wait times vary but I found this at other doctors. Their professionalism and competence were evident in every interaction from receptionists, to the doctors to the nurses. Special mention to Fiona at reception, she is so professional and friendly even though they are so busy. We feel well taken care of throughout my visit regardless of the issue. The doctors and nurses were thorough, attentive, and took the time to address all our concerns. I highly recommend Medical One for anyone seeking top-notch medical care in a warm and friendly environment.

Fantastic experience: I came in for a routine man flu check up a couple of days ago & upon entering I saw the beaming smile of Fiona on the front desk. She was so personable and ready to help. She was warm, friendly and made me feel extremely welcome. The Dr I saw (Monique) was just as good! Great bedside manner, willing and prepared to help the best she can! Positive experience: I've been happy with my experience at MedicalOne. Myself and my family have had our needs cared for. Edit to add: the one thing I was not impressed by was when I received a call from the doctor out of the blue to discuss information the received from the hospital ED. I was later called by reception to pay for my "phone consultation." If a doctor chooses to call me I should not be charged for answering and having a conversation.

Fantastic experience: I would like to take a moment to express our gratitude to Dr. George Joseph of Waurn Ponds Medical One. We have been visiting doctors for several months to help figure out why my daughter has been limping. I heard Dr. Joseph had extensive background experience in bones and orthopaedics so we visited him. The moment he met my daughter he knew something was up with her limp and did not waste time in asking us for an xray. The xray showed she needed surgery. It just all happened so fast, we had no time to process or fully understand the severity of her condition or what recovery looks like. We have been visiting Dr. Joseph almost on a weekly basis since the surgery as there are so many unknowns with her condition, such as what happens if she has a fall? Dr. Joseph has been a really good doctor at explaining what has been happening in the bones at different stages, what type of surgery she had, and what to expect. With Dr. Joseph down the road , we have peace of mind that our daughter can fully recover and that we are not left in the dark.

Negative experience: I have been attending this clinic for about 4 years. I never experienced any problems until my doctor left. As I am on a pension my old doctor used to bulk bill but recently i have had to pay. There is no problem with that as I understand why some doctors don’t. The problem started when I left an appointment and couldn’t pay on the day as I was getting paid the next day. I received a phone call from them telling me I had to pay then and there. After much discussion they let me pay the next day. I tried to make an appointment today and was told I had to prepay before I could do so. I desperately needed a script for tablets I can’t just stop taking. I was told that I had to see a doctor to get the script. But I can’t do that because I needed the money up front which I didn’t have on me till payday. My point is there is no concession for people who need to see a doctor then and there. It seems that they care more about the money than their patients. I was told that I should go elsewhere. Where is the compassion for people in need? What happened to doctors ethics? I will never be attending there again.

Negative experience: Response: thank you for your reply in an attempt to save face. This review was posted now as I had the decency to give you the opportunity to rectify the issues and this is how long it has taken. Which is disgusting. You missed the parts about the doctors charging adult costs, the 10+ emails and calls it took to have anything done or processed and that the doctor didn’t even send through the test results for the things she sent off. We have had nothing but bad experiences with medical one this year. Since having a baby we have been overcharged for appointments by a certain doctor and told at reception that she charges the same as an adult even when we were not informed this when booking. (And their signage did not indicate this either) It then took us weeks if not over a month to have this resolved. We have then had her next vaccinations done elsewhere to be told that Medical One had not uploaded her vaccines - which is a legal requirement to be done. Unfortunately since having a child the money grabbing tactics of Medical One have become extremely evident and they will quickly overcharge for appointments. For example when having her six week check up we were charged for a double appointment - even though for more than half that time she was receiving her injections by the nurse. Which is supposed to be bulk billed. All issues were brought to the attention of management who took incredibly lengthy periods to follow anything up as they do not even have a full time manager on site which shows. If you have children and babies to be seen, definitely avoid it and spend your very hard earned money at another medical professional.

From looking at your appointments, a consult fee was charged for the baby's 6-week check (this is standard practice in most clinics as it is a full consult). There was another consult in March. Billing for this consult was at the discretion of the GP. Regarding the 6-week immunisations, these were not uploaded to AIR due to there being no Medicare card at the time immunisations. There was also a referral for pathology and the pathology company charge a separate fee as well instead of bulk billing. Our understanding is that this was sorted, and bulk billed by the pathology company. There is also a full-time practice manager on site looking after all of our staff and patients. Negative experience: I had an appointment booked for 8.30 on a Saturday morning, I attend and the clinic appears to be shut. My next appointment I attend is for my 4 month olds needles, my husband has taken the morning off to attend with me. I waited half an hour only to be told the needles aren’t in stock. My doctor is amazing but there is a clear lack of practice management.

Fantastic experience: The best Doctor’s practice I have found in Geelong. Dr Ajith Mahavithana is great with my baby. He makes the visit such a smooth process, plus he’s always running on time! We have been in week after week due to daycare illnesses and Dr Mahavithana always ensures a follow up visit is booked after each appointment to see how my little one is. I can’t thank him enough for the patience and support he provides. The reception staff are lovely, polite and always have a smile on their faces even when they are super busy. Definitely recommend Dr Mahavithana if you are looking for a fantastic family doctor.

Negative experience: My daughter had an appointment with the doctor at 3pm. The doctor never called, waited an hour nothing. Called the clinic on hold for 20 minutes, they then said that doctor is with someone and would call back. 7:30 pm still nothing. So disappointed in this,very bad service. She has now called nurse on call Shame on you Medical one Waurn Ponds.

Negative experience: I wish I didn’t have to do this but I’ve been left with no choice. This practise need to fix their phone management and etiquette, on multiple occasions now I’ve been immediately placed on hold and forgotten about - had to hang up and call again. I’ve called, had them answer (I could hear the receptionists talking in the background) before being hung up on. I had a phone consult booked tonight for 4:15, they let me know the doctor was running behind but when I called at 6pm to follow up, an IVR said the practise was closed. No compassion for people dealing with health issues, no empathy, terrible service. Wish I went elsewhere for the referral for tests. Edit: worth mentioning that the website and google say they’re open until 8pm. Not great
Fantastic experience: My 5 stars goes to doctor Dr Ajith Mahavithana, he has been an angel to our family. He helped us after visiting 5 doctor in relation to our toddler with tonsillitis and recently he helped me with my L4-L5 back issues. He was prompted to help me to find a specialist and here I’m in my first week recovering from surgery. Thank you for your attention and for listening us during our hard days. I wish you all success.

Fantastic experience: 5 stars due to Dr Monique Couch. She is an amazing GP. If I am having even small concerns, she will always take them seriously, be honest about the possibilities and let me know the options in terms of tests etc if it will ease my mind. Positive experience: New online booking system is cooked and doesn't work. Dr Monique Couch is a legend, but Dr George Joseph should not be having direct contact with patients due to his dismissive demeanor and lack of empathy. I understand that compassion fatigue is real, but it's not fair on the doctors who do act with integrity like Dr Couch, for others like Dr Joseph to undo our faith in the medical system.

Positive experience: The staff are friendly and it's generally pretty easy to get an appointment. Most doctors are great, however they only bulk bill for kids.

Negative experience: Waited half an hour after my appointment time (super reasonable it’s a doctors), but when it was my appointment time I felt like I was rushed out of the room and then got charged $100 for it. I didn’t get the support I needed and I was super upset because it took a lot for me to ask for help and I wasn’t listened to. Not the place to go if you need anything beyond a script. (This is just my experience I’m sure there are lots of time pressures they’re under but it just felt terrible)

Negative experience: I would rate zero if I could. Dr. George Joseph is a complete hack. My partner went in for care concerning Adenomyosis which is being managed via birth control methods that she waited TWO YEARS for. Children are not on the cards for us, by decision. His solution? Have some kids. When my partner objected, he asked her "what are you here on this planet for if not to care for others and your children." This is a wildly inappropriate comment stemming from an outdated personal view of women. A formal complaint will be submitted to AHPRA. This Doctor should NOT be practising.

Fantastic experience: After months of trying to get my daughter's asthma under control at another clinic, Dr George Joseph had her all sorted out in a matter of days. I cannot thank him enough. I now have a much better understanding of the condition as well. The difference in her between before and after is remarkable and I will always be thankful. He really knows his stuff.

Fantastic experience: Our family has always had a good experience with Medical One. My kids have always been bulk billed and I have been bulk billed a for follow ups/results etc. Dr.Algama diagnosed my daughter with a kidney issue in a timely manner and helped us to see the specialist urgently without wasting time. Thankfully to him my daughter didn't develop any permanent kidney damage and even the specialist was happy about his duty. Although my kids have been getting sick frequently this year, he has explained us the importance of avoiding antibiotics for viral infections. Guess the few parents who have written bad reviews here are preoccupied with the idea of needing anti biotics every time a kid gets unwell. They should be at least appreciative of the bulkbilling service Medical One provides for kids. Unfortunately those kids will only realize that they are resistant to many antibiotics when they are grown up.
Negative experience: I have been a patient here for 6 years. I’m diagnosed with a chronic illness and was completely gas lighted today from Dr Algama. I have a stage 4 disease and was told “it’s not to bad”. I have NEVER asked for anything apart from scripts or referrals from this man. He assumed my illness is minimal, try say that to the ED visits, specialists, surgeons, and pictures proving my pain. I left with $90 less and tears. You should be disappointed in yourself. I’m not someone who cries, but I haven’t stopped since our 2.30 appointment time.
Negative experience: I am less than impressed, I had a consultation in which Dr Dally admitted she didn’t know what the issue was, she called in another dr who was also unable to identify the issue. They told me to try a podiatrist but that they might not be able to help, they were unsure what advice to provide. I wasn’t provided with advice, a script, a treatment plan…. Nothing. Yet I was still charged. I have a concession card. I complained and the practice manager makes it clear that all consults have a fee, I made clear that I understand this but in this case they told me they didn’t know what to do. And I was still charged. I am less than impressed and won’t be back, not to mention they were running 45 minutes late. I can recommend Grove family health on the surf coast highway they are my normal doctor but we’re booked out. Try them before this clinic.
Fantastic experience: So thankful for Mary and Dr Anushia who squeezed my daughter in last minute today, on a Sunday. Dr Anushia was thorough, caring and kind to our 15 month old. Truly grateful for all their help to getting our bub better and cared for.
Negative experience: Would never go back here again got wrongfully prescribed antibiotics that ended up sending me to the ER while the doctors where dumbfounded why I would have been prescribed those antibiotics in the first place given my symptoms. Which all could have been avoided easily is they would have done blood tests but where too lazy or thought they where too smart but clearly not absolutely terrible.
Negative experience: This is not a bulk billing clinic. Reception are not trained, medical staff. Management does not listen to concerns when issues arise. I have not had many good experiences with this clinic over many years going here and have been a witness of the "money over people" rule displayed here. If there is any chance to bill you more, they will without disclosure. Expect morning debt collector calls from reception. I cannot recommend it.

Negative experience: The receptionist (who was onto the left), (customer standing facing the reception) who was there today (24th of June 2022 at 8:00 - 8:30 A.M) showed a behavior of racial microaggressions inferring disrespect to the person who was a first-timer to this clinic and inquire about insurance coverage and appointment booking details. Unbelievable and disappointed.
Negative experience: Pathetic. No empathy. I will never attend this doctors office again. Saw dr Vijay Ng. You should not be a doctor anymore. Your care factor for your patients is ZERO. shame on you.
Negative experience: Answered my partners phone due to him being unavailable at 7:30 at night; after finding out it was a call from Medical One for payment for a phone consultation (which my partner believed was bulk billed) I tried to inform them that he was currently indisposed and unable to speak at the time and would call them back tomorrow I actually was faced with aggression and refusal and gave him the phone due to severe discomfort, making him have to stop an important online meeting. Apparently they’d called him for the invoice prior and it was a late payment, however, no effort was made to email him the invoice in spite of them having that information and moreover, he had no missed calls from their number or was informed of required payment during his phone appointment. Seemingly not the only bad experience had in this regard and would discourage anyone wasting their money, please go to a service that will actually bulk bill you for the call.
Negative experience: Probably not going back. The doctors that I've seen here are good, but I can't get past 2 things. 1) never on time, unless it's a phone consult. Face to face appointments are usually 30 minutes behind in my experience. 2) it's completely unnecessary to charge $70 for a 90 second phone call, but they continue to do it every time. They have the discretion to bulk bill, but they never do it. At almost $50 a minute, I feel like I am owed an hour of free phone consults.

Negative experience: I was booked in for an appointment with one of your doctors today at 2:15pm, The doctor was Dr Vijay Ng. I was told to wait outside until i got called into the appointment which i was completely fine with given the COVID protocol. I went into the appointment and was surprised by the lack of respect that I received. I told my medical history and she labeled me as having depression cause of the tablets that i have been on. I told her that i was concerned about all the headaches and fainting that i have been experiencing but she rode it off as stress and that I should just get a relaxing message and that would fix everything. She basically told me i was fine and said see ya and just waited till i left the room. I was so disgusted with this interaction and had to pay for that! are you kidding me! Im sure there is nothing seriously wrong with me but to not even check to see what they options are as to what it could be. My husband was so annoyed at this encounter and has been stressing about my fainting episodes and constant headaches which leave me bed bound. I would like to hear from you ASAP and hope that this gets resolved and not pushed to one side cause you guys dont like hearing complaints. But i have to say that from searching up your reviews you guys arent liked very much and I will not be recommending your clinic to anyone. I dont want this experience to happen to anyone else and to be labeled for something just because, and to question that what iam saying is true!

Fantastic experience: Got the booster shot in here, the clinic is nice, tidy and clean and very well organised too, the waiting time was in minimum assists and also got friendly staff
Positive experience: The waiting area is large, bright, modern looking and always clean. The reception staff are fab and always helpful. The doctors I have seen have always been professional and understanding. There is a fab pharmacist on site as well as a skin care practice, a dentist, a chiropractor / chiropodist, as well as the facility for blood samples to be taken. Health hubs don't get much better than this.
Negative experience: I took my elderly mother for her gp appt and as she has a heart condition her gp had advised she did not need to wear a mask. Mum is 82yrs old and fully vaccinated but was told by staff to sit outside whilst waiting for the doctor. It was a hot day so she would have struggled to do this. I explained the gp at this clinic told her not wear one but the practice manager insisted. I was disappointed that she was treated so poorly.

Fantastic experience: Was helped by a receptionist called Riley - he was helpful, empathetic and very likeable. I felt listened to, which is a great quality to have over the phone.
