Negative experience: ★☆☆☆☆ Avoid This Dental Clinic Unprofessional and Disrespectful All the 1-star reviews are absolutely accurate, I’ve experienced the same unacceptable treatment. I am still trying to figure out how this place is even operating. They do not answer their phones , I’ve called 6+ times a day, multiple days, and not once have I spoken to a human being. No callbacks. No responses. Their website booking system is completely broken, it doesn't allow you to make an appointment at all. How is a dental practice meant to function when clients can’t even contact them? What’s worse? I suspected this place blocks clients’ phone numbers. If this is how they treat people before they even step in the door, imagine the service once you're inside. If you value your time, money, and basic respect, stay away from this place. It is unprofessional, unresponsive, and clearly uninterested in providing even the most basic level of patient care. There receptionist that plays mind games,doesnt pick up the phone, makes lots of excuses and blocks your phone number is not how a healthcare provider or receptionist should behave. Do Not Recommend

Besides being an excellent surgeon, he took the time to explain his actions and plans, involving me in the process, with professionalism and kindness. Negative experience: A consultation on May 23rd went as follows Q Whereabout you want the implant A Here Q When did you have the extraction A six weeks ago Advice Implants should be started at least 4 months after extraction No X rays End of consultation The consultant was not smart enough to notice that l had 3 Implants All exactly six weeks after extraction and l never had any problems with them for ten years or so A few days after wasting my time with the affordable dentist , l checked with other clinics They took 3 D X rays and the dentists said All good to start immediately Stage one of my implant is now complete Remember As price goes lower , the service usually goes even lower and lower

Negative experience: I had a tooth removed $450. My son went, had xray and was told that the dentists would come up with a plan for his dental work. A month later, no plan, despite 3 phone calls. I then spoke to practice manager who said, we clearly didn't trust Affordable Dentists and therefore they would not treat us. I advised no problem, we just need the plan but he refused, blocked my number, refunded the $99. I have never been treated like this. I wonder if the practice manager was not well. He just refused to treat us even though i was half way through my treatment. In response to the response to my review. I had had a tooth removed, and had an appointment booked for June 2 to see Dr Michael and have xray to have implants. So what part of that is not approved? Affordable Dentists blocked my phone and clearly cancelled my appointment for ongoing treatment. This is terrible customer service when all I was asking for was for the plan for my son which was a month overdue. Since you told me on that call , half way through it, that it was being recorded, I suggest you review the call and see how inappropriate and unreasonable you were. A more appropriate approach would have been to apologise for having to wait so long for the plan of treatment and look into what the issue was. And the plan and then perform the treatment for my son and finish my treatment. 2nd reply: So as we are clear: My son never started treatment, he hadn't received the plan after a month so no treatment had been discussed or planned. I was having work done towards my implants. I saw the implant dentist Pueblo?? and he asked Michael to remove a tooth first, and then Michael was going to do XRays in June to see if I was ready for the implant to go ahead. But because I followed up on the plan for my son, you decided that neither of us should have treatment. Very unprofessional.

Negative experience: Dr. Pinho seems to be a pretty nice guy. The clinic appeared very modern and clean, and as somebody who was very nervous about approaching dentists, this facility helped me get my foot in the door to fixing my dental issues, and I appreciate that for what it was worth. There were some pretty big issues, which I can appreciate better now that I've been to another dentist. First, it was supposed to be a no-fee consultation for my wisdom teeth, and upon leaving my appointment I was sprung with the cost for a clean, which I was not informed would be the case prior. I was highly anxious about money at the time, which was the reason I chose this clinic, and it felt super inappropriate that costs were introduced without prior agreement. Even when I challenged these costs at the desk, I was apologetically told that I needed to pay up, so I paid, and I suffered a very hard week without any money because of it. This is in contrast to my dentist now who writes costs on a white board, asks for my consent and never deviates from it. When Dr. Pinho made a follow up call after having seen my scans, he wasn't so much informative as he was unsettling. I'm not sure if he does this on purpose, but his first words to me about my teeth were telling me how bad my situation was, "very bad", as he said, which gave our entire interaction a very anxious tone. This is in contrast to my current dentist who, although acknowledged my teeth were in poor condition, and it would be a slightly more difficult job, was full of confidence and reassurance and positivity, which is what I think the average person probably appreciates more when interacting with a dentist - especially someone who has clearly neglected their teeth and is looking for help. Finally, the "affordable" part comes heavily into question for me, due to Dr. Pinho insisting that I needed to be put to sleep, under general anaesthetic, for my wisdom teeth operation, and that I would need to pay a large cost to hire a hospital bed and an anaesthetist. This wasn't the case. I didn't need to be put to sleep at all. I saved money by going to another dentist who gave me the option to stay awake through the painless procedure under local anaesthetic. In summary, I feel that it was wrong to spring surprise costs on a free consultation, I think it was wrong to make somebody more anxious than they needed to be about a relatively straightforward procedure, and I think it was wrong to take that anxiety to make me feel like my only choice was to spend more money I actually needed to, when really he should have just told me to find somebody else to do the job. There wasn't a single moment in my experience where I felt like I sufficiently understood what was happening, felt 100% confident that I could be helped, or felt certain that the costs weren't going to go higher than what I was quoted. I was vulnerable, ignorant, broke and in a lot of pain. I was at the mercy of this clinic, and I'm sad, looking back on it, that I put so much faith in this clinic to take care of me and keep me informed. I imagine if your situation is different to mine, this clinic could probably take fine care of you, and I'm sorry to leave a bad review when I can see so many positive ones. I'm sure they provide a fine service for most people. Just not me.

Fantastic experience: I have visited The Affordable Dentist Sydney numerous times over the years for check up & clean, fillings and wisdom teeth extraction consultations. The practice is very clean and modern. Located in a very handy location 2 minute walk from Wynyard station and have always been greeted by friendly staff. I have seen several dentists and have always been satisfied by their care and professionalism. Most recently I had my first appointment with Dr Michelle Sawyer and she was outstanding! She was very throughout in explaining what she discovered during my check up & clean with honest recommendations to look after my teeth. I immediately booked on the spot for fillings which need to be replaced. Dr Michelle is very professional, caring and easy to talk to. Huge thank you to this clinic for offering excellent dental services at affordable prices! 5/5

Fantastic experience: Great experience here in Sydney. Lovely reception area, was greeted warmly, and went in on time. Dr Jenny Zhou was extremely welcoming, kind, caring, and thorough in her dental service. She went above and beyond, giving me dental care advice and answering related questions I had. The price of $99 for the clean and check-up was great. My only feedback would be that x-rays are an extra $99 approx. fee (which is fine), but x-rays are required for the dentist to do a fully comprehensive check-up. Common knowledge for some, but maybe an oversight for others:) I have just checked their online price list and there are other service bundles that include the x-rays. Thanks The Affordable Dentist!

Their prices are incredibly reasonable, and from the get go their site stood out out to me as highly transparent regarding the costs of their services, which is rare in the usual exploitative dental market in Sydney. The booking process was smooth and there was only a minor wait for the appointment upon arrival. The dentist was informative and professional, he clearly explained everything and provided me with very reasonable advice regarding my wisdom teeth growth without recommending me to remove them because it wasn't necessary. They also do not pressure you to have additional services like check-ups or cleaning, rather objectively let you know the general time frame between check ups that is recommended and leaving the decision to you as to whether you want to book again. Negative experience: I went to the clinic for a clear aligner consultation. The dentist was running over 25 minutes late and then we had a less than 5 minute conversation where he told me they were not specialists and could not help me. My teeth are mildly crowded and while I appreciate his honesty in telling me I was not a good candidate, I felt this could have easily been done if they asked my treatment goals through a form. The dentist did not examine my teeth and determined I was not a candidate as soon as I mentioned my treatment aims. Felt it was a complete waste of my time, and the dentists time too. Definitely seems like the clear aligners are a bit too good to be true sadly

Negative experience: I have booked an appointment for a teeth treatment and when I got to there I was told by the apprentice dentist (wasn’t a dentist yet from what SHE personally told me) that she couldn’t do my treatment because she was new and didn’t have experience to do it and I understand if she doesn’t feel comfortable she shouldn’t do at all and This is what I’ve been told by her and I totally understand her side, but what upset me the most is I had to travel 1:30 hours to get there and no one else was able to perform the treatment because they were fully booked, but then again, if they checked my file and knew she wouldn’t be able to do, why not to call me to say that? And save me from wasting my time. How come nobody gave me a call? (I was there 2 days ago and my files were there). I wasted 3 hours of my day to come to the appointment. EDIT: as I can not answer your reply I will write here. I understand she wasn’t the best fit to do the treatment and again, I booked with her because my previous dentist wasn’t available and if your dentists are as good as you said and trained and years of experience, than this shouldn’t be a problem (but it was). I told her I understand her position, but I simply don’t understand is why I wasn’t informed before me arrival? Someone could have simply call me to say that and I would have not wasted my time and money to go all the way to the clinic. Still do not recommend.

Fantastic experience: I love this dentist!!! The prices are amazing, but the service they give is the best! I am very happy that as an student visa now I can afford to go to the dentist in Australia. I just got my wisdom tooth removed yesterday and I am very satisfied with the whole process and the results. I didn’t feel any pain, i didn’t feel unsafe, i did everything what they told me to do after the surgery and I feel great today (a day after the surgery). They did a really great job! Fantastic experience: My experience with this practice so far has been nothing short of exceptional. I have seen Dr Paulo Pinho and Dr Michael Spiteri, both of whom took their time to explain everything in detail during free consultations. It’s the first time that I have felt any practitioner/s genuinely prioritise patient outcomes as opposed to business interests. This is reflected in the fact that they both comprehensively explained different treatment options including those outside of their remit for which they were happy to provide referrals and also took into account my financially constrained circumstances. The quotation was as advertised on the website with no hidden costs which is incredibly fair and one of the best around. The clinic is clean and cosy and the atmosphere is welcoming as all the dental specialists and receptionist have been nice and pleasant. Looking forward to undertaking my extraction and implant procedures here. I have always been hesitant to visit dental practices as it always meant spending a lot of money. However, this experience has changed my perception with Dr Michael Spiteri and Dr Paulo Pinho providing the best care for the best (and affordable) value.

Negative experience: Very horrible service/appointment handling. I had booked an appointment on 3rd Feb for wisdom tooth extraction consultation. But my appointment was cancelled by the clinic a day before the appointment. I was told that the Dr. has got some other work. I was not given another appointment as the Doctor was going to be occupied/out-of-town for 2 weeks. I was told to book another appointment online. And guess what, the online booking system no longer accepts booking. Over the last 3 months, I have tried to book online multiple times, but system does not accept booking. I called their phone many times, sent an email, but nobody helped. Never seen such a worse clinic/practice anywhere. Don't try them and waste your time, go somewhere better. Edit: Adding response to owner's reply. 1) Customer experience/service involves all the things involving booking process to actual procedure/follow-up. So your first argument that 'I cannot review your service' is invalid. 2) Your second point that I was rude to your staff is utter lie. All my conversations with staff were cordial. I challenge you to share the audio clip of the conversation or genuine transcript of it. You are not just providing horrible customer experience, but also lying blatantly and trying to tarnish customer's image. Good luck with that attitude. Stay away guys.

Fantastic experience: Compared to my previous dentist, Doctor Pinho is such a trustworthy and experienced dental professional. My previous dentist took my tooth out and told me a few times I really need a tooth implant. But my gut feeling told me different. I went to Dr. Pinho for second opinion at his free consultation. Dr. Pinho is so experienced and skilled that without Xray and other equipment, just by his professional checking, he can tell I don't have so many bones left so I need a bone restructure first. It will be a complicated procedure. At my age, it is my call to do the implant or not. He didn't push me to do the implant at all. I can feel his genuine care to the patient. He is so experienced and put patient's wellbeing first, which is very impressive. Highly recommend this trustworthy doctor.

Fantastic experience: I had been looking for a reasonably priced dentist for sometime mainly focused on regular cleaning. Coming from the UK i found the prices in Sydney so extreme (coupled with a lot of practices demanding you also had a check up before a clean resulting in sometimes $300+ charge), but this place has wonderful services, doesn't try to up sell unnecessary procedures like I experienced with a similar $99 dental company, and provided just what i needed without an excessive price tag. The treatment and clean is thorough, professional and I have now visited three times in the past year for quick check up and cleans. would highly recommend.

Negative experience: I have been an existing client of this clinic and was extremely disappointed when I tried to book an appointment with my dentist for teeth whitening. I called multiple times and was told by the receptionist that I had to pay a deposit, which I was happy to do, but that she could not take payment over the phone and that someone would call me to arrange the appointment and take the payment. This call never came despite calling back multiple times and complaining that this has been happening multiple times. I was promised that I would be taken care of and that someone would be in touch. This was an empty promise. I got really upset and emailed the company with my concern and sent a message through their website and never heard back from this company. Despite being an existing customer I felt ignored and badly treated. In my opinion this company does not value its customers. I would not go back to be ignored and devalued as a customer.

Fantastic experience: The place itself was well kept and receptionist was quite pleasant. Backstory: we ended up in the wrong branch (George Street) and good thing she called us to remind us for the appointment. We had a good transaction with Dr. Mark who was kind enough to walk us through our inquiries and lent us some gentle reminders pertaining to the maintenance of our teeth. He also had a good view in his clinic.

Positive experience: Timely service, very clean and uncluttered environment, courteous staff. The dentist was thorough and took the time to explain my situation and what my options were. Very satisfied!

If you cannot afford private health insurance, are unable to afford other dentists fees and/or are ineligible to be seen by NSW State government run dental clinics, then “The Affordable Dentist Sydney” would be your best option for most dental treatments. Fantastic experience: I am very happy and satisfied with the service that I received today. I book the appointments on the website for both me and my partner. Upon arrival, I was greet immediately by the friendly receptionist who requested us to fill in the form for our first visit. Both of us got the general check up and cleaning services done by Dr Douglas Bing Lo. He was friendly and knowledgeable about dental health which gave me great advices and recommendations for my overall dental health. The dental clinic itself is very clean and hygienic as well as has good COVID practices in place. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: Cheap prices but cheaper customer service! Had an appointment with Dr Douglas; Arrived and signed in.. Waiting for 25 minutes and then the doctor came to me to say that he was waiting for me the whole time and now it's another patient turn. The worst part that he was trying to make ot look like its my mistake The reception people were nice and friendly but the doctor was rude, VERY RUDE.. Unbelievable bad service. Not sure who's fault in the I immediately left the clinic and wished them a good day. I'm relieved now actually, I will only opt-in for premium service instead. Just wanted to share my experience so people know what to expect!

Negative experience: TLDR: poor service from front desk staff. This is my first negative google review. This clinic has great doctors, don't get me wrong, but they really need to invest in an answering machine. I had to call in repeatedly, only for the call to be dropped with no way of leaving a message. Furthermore, I even reached out via the email listed on their website, and there was no reply. When I finally got through via phone, the receptionist told me she would get back to me in 2-3 days. When I requested that she call me after 12pm on Friday as I had an exam before that, she refused to even consider my request and told me she can't promise me when I'd get the call. IE I could've missed the call and would have had to go through the entire process of calling again. However, I didn't even get the call back in the end. The worst part is that this happened AGAIN last week on Monday when she told me she'd call me back on Wednesday/Thursday, and I still haven't gotten a call back. I have even messaged them on FB, with no reply. I have tried my best, and I am frustrated. I understand that things are moving slowly due to the multiple lockdowns in Melbourne and Sydney. However, I think the onus is on the clinic to update their patients accordingly and reach out to them in a timely manner. Highly disappointed by the lack of professionalism. Please do better. I understand you have a 24/7 online booking system - yes that's great! However, I just wanted to enquire about the treatment plan that I paid $200 dollars for(the first phone call in May, before the lockdown) and since no action has been taken regarding the treatment plan, if I could get a full or partial refund (second phone call, 19th July). I fully understand your struggles with manpower issues, however it seems to me that there is a bigger issue in communication between staff. Even if there are multiple casual staff going in and out, this is a simple matter of setting up reminders for the staff on shift to tend to. As someone involved in the healthcare sector as well as the service industry, I sympathize with you. However, what I have highlighted are simple issues in communication that can easily be rectified. Update 2: thank you for your second reply. I have to admit your first reply was highly shocking and extremely defensive. Anyways, I understand my treatment isn’t essential and I get that. However, I am asking for a refund on a treatment plan I did not get… and have been chasing since before the lockdown. in any case I’ll be contacting you tmrw to sort this out, that is, if I can get thru to you. PS: it seems to me that I’m not the only one w issues reaching out to your clinic and the feedback goes as far back as two years.
