Fantastic experience: I was happy to have a very gentle handed dentist, Christie who did my cleaning and scaling. Her assistant young man was also very patient. I am usually very hesitant to go to dentists so this made my experience very good. I will be going back there.

Fantastic experience: Last Tuesday, one end of my lingual retainer snapped after eating nougat. I was tense, worried, and uneasy. I called several dental clinics, but most quoted around $85 just for the consultation plus another $150–$200 for the repair — far too much for simply gluing it back. Then I came across Belmont Dental Surgery. Would you believe they don’t charge for consultation at all — literally free — and even better, the repair service was only $110 as quoted? I called around 10 AM and, to my surprise, got an appointment by lunchtime. So quick and hassle-free! I was attended by Dr. Minkyu Kim, who was quick, skilled, and straightforward. He explained the possible risks, checked the condition thoroughly, and had it fixed in under 30 minutes. I was back to my daily errands in no time. And here’s the cherry on top — although I was quoted $110, Dr. Kim kindly gave me an unexpected discount, so I only paid $100. Such professionalism, honesty, and kindness are rare these days. Negative experience: This was my second visit to the clinic. My experience five months ago with a different dentist was excellent—very professional and reassuring. However, my recent appointment was disappointing. The dentist recommended a referral to a periodontist, which I felt was unnecessary. What concerned me more was that he only provided a referral to a specialist over 30 km away up North (which I later discovered by emailing their receptionist), without offering closer alternatives. I found out by google search that there are several periodontists located in East Perth, West Perth, and the CBD. I declined the referral by writen email on the next day after my dental appointment, but they still sent my referral to that up North specialist, I consider this as breach of patient's confidentiality! While I understand the clinic is busy, patients should be given basic information and referral options during the consultation. Transparency, clear communication & respect of patient's confidentiality are essential in healthcare!

Negative experience: I moved to the area recently and came to this place for a check up and clean as a new patient. Appointment was almost 30 minutes late - but I understand that happens, not an issue. However, after establishing that I had an X-ray done only 6 months ago at a different dentist, and that the X-ray could be sent over and an X-ray was not required immediately - the dentist took some time to explain that I could avoid paying a gap fee if I got an X-ray at that appointment, and that if I didn’t I might have to pay a gap fee. After telling the dentist I did not want an X-ray due to radiation concerns, he showed a jovial disappointment that that was my choice. He then said something about figuring out some codes so I wouldn’t have to pay a gap fee. If all it took was some codes, why try to get me to do an X-ray given it is best they not be done too frequently? Because the dentist could make money from it. Also, my insurance cover meant that I wouldn’t have to pay a gap fee, regardless of having an X-ray or not. I was also suspicious that the receptionists are in on it as well, as the dentist then went on to tell them some codes, which I suspect was just following through with the con. I do not trust this place and these dentists at all - will not be coming back.

Fantastic experience: Cute "family vibes" practice, dental assistants are professional and polite but still have a laugh, the dentists are down to earth and happy to provide you with real information to help instead of upselling. Most services are available, please don't book an emergency at 4pm on a Friday the nurse will cry. Dr Kent Tan at My Implant Dentist provides services here occasionally for dental implants.

Negative experience: When I scheduled an appointment for my wife, I provided specific instructions to the reception, booking her for two tooth fillings and an investigation into the potential need for a root canal following a prior appointment with HBF Dental. On the scheduled date, December 30, 2023, our appointment was set for 10:00 am, and we arrived approximately at 09:40 am. Upon meeting with Dr. Minkyu Kim approximately at 09:45 am, we explained the purpose of our visit. Dr. Kim mentioned that he hadn't received any previous reports from HBF Dental, necessitating an initial investigation. Until 10:30 am, Dr. Minkyu Kim conducted examinations and took X-rays, which were not optimal for identifying gum issues related to potential root canal problems. Then he took one X ray again which shows Gums properly. Subsequently, he informed us that he couldn't proceed with the fillings that day, necessitating additional appointments. Contrary to our expectations, he also contradicted a prior diagnosis from a dentist at HBF Dental regarding the need for a root canal. During the appointment, it was overheard that Dr. Minkyu Kim initially declined the dental assistant's inquiry about performing the fillings before the investigation. When questioned about the change in plans, Dr. Minkyu Kim stated that he had four fillings to address but lacked the time that day even for one filling. Frustrated, we proceeded to the reception to settle the payment and requested the cancellation of any future appointments for our family. However, Dr. Minkyu Kim came to the reception and stated that he would conduct the four fillings immediately. Upon entering the surgery room, he backtracked, claiming a lack of time and accusing us of wasting his time. This inconsistency and unprofessional behavior led us to express our frustration to the reception, informing them that we would seek legal advice before paying the invoice for Dr. Minkyu Kim's services due to his unprofessional and unethical conduct.

Fantastic experience: 6 Stars !!! Service: Fantastic, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Reception are very good and interested. Price: Very fair, much lower than other quotes etc. Allowed me to get some implants as well. Doctors / Dentists / Nurses: Fantastic, Dr Kent and team Inc. denture guy are right on it. I had about 14 teeth (all) out plus implants intalled and 24 hours later, there is little pain and no swelling or bleading. Just taking the odd Nurofen now. Have had more trauma after just one tooth out elsewhere. Thankyou Very Much BDS for streamlining a stressfull leadup to making the decision and for a great result so far. Cheers, Mike Nyman

Fantastic experience: I hadn't been to the dentist since the old dental van came to primary school 20 years ago. After many years of neglecting myself I finally bit the bullet and came in. I received no judgement or negativity from staff and they did a great job cleaning me up and giving me advice and showing me how to improve my oral hygiene.
