We’re genuinely sorry to hear that you left our practice feeling unsure about your treatment recommendations and if there were any miscommunications that was never our intention. Patient care and professional integrity are of utmost importance to us and we take such concerns seriously. That said, posting a public review without attempting to resolve the issue privately leaves little room for meaningful discussion. Fortunately, our principal dentist has managed to have a phone conversation with you since your posting of this review which we appreciate your time taken to have a conversation. However, as mentioned over the phone it would have been more beneficial for both parties if you were able to come into the clinic to see images from the consultation visit as to why these fillings were recommended. Due to patient confidentiality, we cannot go into your treatment details here. We are committed to resolving patient concerns fairly and promptly and always welcome feedback, but we ask for the courtesy of a direct conversation before matters are escalated publicly. After clarifying over the phone with you, it was discovered that the injection was actually given during your filling appointment, not your clean. Generally, patients appreciate the provider being skilled in administering anaesthetic so that they don't even feel it. We are sorry that you did not enjoy this process. You are always entitled to seek a second opinion; however, it is not uncommon for providers to have slightly different approaches in dentistry (particularly with early or borderline decay) Treatment recommendations can vary based on clinical judgment, patient risk factors, and how proactive or preventative a provider’s approach may be. One dentist may suggest early intervention, while another may prefer to monitor a tooth. That doesn’t mean either approach is wrong — just that clinical opinions can vary. At Taigum Dental Team, our providers take great pride in providing conservative, ethical dental care based on thorough clinical evaluations and diagnostic tools. Any recommendations we make, including for fillings or other restorative work, is always based on our professional assessment of your oral health at the time of your visit. We stand by our findings and recommendations as in alignment with professional standards and in your best interests, based on what was observed during your appointment and with your long-term health in mind. That said, we want to be very clear: we do not recommend treatment unless we believe it is truly needed. Implying that our providers would recommend treatment that is not needed is a serious claim and one we do not take lightly. If you would like to revisit your images from the initial examination appointment and charting with us we would be more than happy to arrange that. We always strive to maintain open and respectful communication with our patients, and we regret that this situation could not be resolved more constructively. While we respect your right to seek care elsewhere, we want to be clear that our clinical recommendations were made in good faith and can be justified.
