Fantastic experience: My partner and I came in for a check up/clean. Admittedly, I have not been to the dentist in a while and was quite nervous. However, Dr.Samantha was so nice and patient, I had a great time. She was also quite informative and answered all my questions/concerns. Can't recommend her enough.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service ️️
Negative experience: I had an examination and clean up at this dental center, and unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the experience. It felt like the dentist did something, but in reality, she didn't address any of the issues with my teeth. Instead of pointing out problems, she simply referred me to a specialist. Afterward, I went to another local dentist for a second opinion, and that's when I realized that even the clean up was poorly done—there were noticeable calculus between my teeth. To make matters worse, one of my teeth had a cavity, which I could clearly see in the mirror, but the dentist didn't mention it at all. I would not recommend this practice and will not be returning.

Fantastic experience: Isabel did an incredible job rebuilding two of my teeth! She went above and beyond in terms of making me comfortable and making sure every part of the process was easy. Anaesthetics were done perfectly! And honestly my teeth look better than before I originally broke them. For someone who is anxious, reacts to anaesthetics weirdly, and generally isn’t a fan of having peoples hands inside their mouth, I cannot recommend a better dentist!

Negative experience: My partner and I went to this dental clinic for few times. The receptionist is very friendly and kind, but we won’t go again for any further service. I have a gum issue, I had consultation with one male Dr. I am hoping to have a plan for this issue; however he didn’t give me any advice about it and just did general cleaning. I was wondering if I need to do a deep cleaning to control it and he told me I have to book with someone else to do this. For the general cleaning, it only took 10-15mins. I have a sensitive tooth. He didn’t figure it out why it is sour, he just skipped clean that tooth. Once we did cleaning, he won’t tell you when you should come back as other clinics do. The place is very clean. But I did not feel the professional service. I saw some 5 stars, so I gave it a try, but it is very disappointing. Maybe it was a just bad luck.

At McKinnon Dental Care, we aim for the best possible standard of care and the highest levels of patient satisfaction. While we cannot discuss any matter pertaining to patient care on a public platform, we do encourage those with questions or concerns to contact us directly. Nevertheless, we would like to publicly state the following generalities:
1.It is routine in our practice to take comprehensive records for every patient in order to conduct a thorough examination and deliver comprehensive advice. The advice also extends to any reasons for treatment or non-treatment in reference to any clinical issues that are identified. However, we understand that going to the dentist is a daunting experience and there is indeed a lot of information to grasp during a 30–45-minue appointment.
2.With regard to the internal referral to another dentist in our clinic for any proposed treatment, we pride ourselves on the fact that our dentists have areas of interest and strength that enable them to deliver the best treatment for patients. For example, other dentists always refer wisdom teeth surgery to a particular dentist in our clinic as he has worked at the Royal Dental Hospital oral surgery department and is very experienced in complicated surgeries.
3.With regard any assertion made by any patient of ‘not tell you when you come back’, we firmly adhere to the standard of care that for every patient the dentist presents their recommendations in the patient’s best interest, but ultimately it is the patient’s responsibility to book subsequent appointments as any medical treatment in Australia requires the patient’s full consent (Rogers v Whitaker (1992) 175 CLR 479). Pressuring a patient into any treatment would breach the issue of consent and it would be a violation of patient autonomy (The Principles of Biomedical Ethics by Beauchamp and Childress). Nevertheless, we always welcome any feedback from patients as a positive reminder for our front desk and dentists to constantly improve our services.
4.Although we are always trying our best to improve our services, we also acknowledge the fact that it is not possible to satisfy every patient. However, we always strive to fulfill the duty of nonmaleficence (The Principles of Biomedical Ethics by Beauchamp and Childress) which is the duty to do no harm to the patient clinically and emotionally. We go beyond this duty by not harming the patient financially.
5.If a patient has valid reasons to believe that our behaviour was unethical or unprofessional, we encourage the patient to report us to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA).

Fantastic experience: I had my wisdom tooth removed recently and I was so very worried before. Dr. Wendy Yu is the best dentist I have ever had. She is not only professional, knowledgeable and skillful, but she also takes care of your psychological health. Seeing a dentist to me is very stressful, but Dr. Wendy looked after me in every possible way. It made the process with no fear and stressless! Fantastic experience: I saw Isabel a few weeks ago for my first appointment for my TMJ issues and ultimately muscle relaxer injections. Not only is the team is friendly and welcoming the whole clinic is immaculate. Isabel was gentle and comforting, talking me through the whole treatment. Fantastic experience: The experience was so good. And the doctors are so kind recommend it to everyone old and young. I am 11 and got my tooth pulled out out I was very nervous but they were so kind and did in less than 30 seconds.

Fantastic experience: I was nervous about my long overdue check-up, but staff at this wonderful clinic made it a pleasant experience. All staff were very friendly, professional and put me right at ease the whole way through. I was honest about how long it had been (and my only recent floss routine) but there was no judgement, just encouragement. Fantastic experience: Recently had my wisdom teeth out with Dr Joe. The whole process was very calming and Dr Joe explained the procedure very clearly. The nurse also worked well with the dentist as a team. As a dental student, I had a few questions and Dr Joe also took time to answer everything, sharing his expertise and experience with me. Fantastic experience: During a regular check-up Wendy identified a few issues with my teeth. I was worried. Wendy put me at ease and mapped out a plan forward. I was referred to an endodontist initially to examine the health of each tooth. I then had one root canal redone, a few crowns installed and one wisdom tooth extraction. Wendy paid great attention to details in each step of the way and kept me informed. The selection of crown and installation was perfect. She does not hesitate to say no if it is not perfect. She stopped and assessed the situation if in doubt. I can't recommend highly enough of Wendy’s professional and patient-centered approach. McKinnon dental works as a team and other dentists will step in for patients’ urgent need. Grace is great in greeting and connecting patients. Highly recommended.
