Fantastic experience: Excellent work and bedside manner from Dr Ryan who fixed an escaped crown with very little notice.

Negative experience: The dentist’s cleaning was extremely rushed and careless, and left visible spots of staining and plaque on my teeth, which I had to request to be removed at a subsequent appointment. I have never experienced this before in my life. The dental assistant was extremely rough at both appointments. She left bruises on my lip after the first appointment, and kept hitting my teeth and lip with the instruments every time she put them in my mouth because she was too busy rudely gossiping about her maternity leave plans with the dentist to do her job properly. The dentist applied numbing gel at a different site to where she injected, so the injection was extremely painful. I was already extremely anxious about the dentist, and their rough treatment and carelessness made it so much worse. By the time they were finished I was physically shaking, not that the dentist or assistant noticed while they were gossiping with each other. To top it all off, the practice’s payment system couldn’t process digital private healthcare cards without warning, and reception failed to respond to my email. Avoid at all costs.

Negative experience: It’s been over a month since I had a filling done in Camberwell Family Dental, and I honestly regret it every single day! My tooth had no pain or issues before, but after an X-ray, Dr. Ryan Chan pointed out a minor cavity and recommended a filling. I trusted his judgment, and that was a huge mistake! Ever since the procedure, the tooth has been extremely sensitive to anything cold, hot and pressure, even just breathing in cold air causes sharp pain . It’s made my eating, drinking, and daily life miserable. I suspect the filling was done too deeply and may have affected the nerve. When I went back, Dr. Ryan denied any issue with the treatment and instead recommended a root canal, which would cost me over $2,000 . This is completely outrageous, the tooth was perfectly fine before the filling. Now it’s damaged, and I’m the one left suffering with an expensive treatment as the only suggested fix. Also, the filling left a huge gap between my teeth where food constantly gets stuck. I have to clean it out after every meal. I’ve had fillings done elsewhere with no problems at all. This experience has shown me how important a dentist’s judgment, skill and care really are. What happened here feels careless at best — and I’m the one paying the price for it. This experience has been awful. Please think twice before letting anyone touch your teeth here.

Fantastic experience: My strong willed son was anxious seeing the dentist today but Dr Ryan and Natalie did a fabulous job. Dr Ryan built rapport with my son by explaining what he was doing and worked around my son’s fears. At the end of the appointment, my son said he wanted to come back here and that says a lot. Fantastic experience: I have done two Porcelain Crowns and some fillings with Dr. Ryan Chan recently, it was my first visit to CFD, the experience was great! Doctor Chan was friendly, professional and patient. My whole family became his clients. My only concern is that he only works one day a week in Camberwell Clinic that caused hardness of booking, hopefully he can work more days in future . Thank you Ryan!

Negative experience: Maybe I should have seen the sign not to come here when told the dentists I went with have moved on so was randomly assigned to one, but I went for clean and check up anyway. I felt that the cleaning was rough like some hard surface wiped onto my teeth.. and it was very quick cleaning, compared to another clinic I went to last year. Also was surprised how the receptionist was rude asking me to change appointment time. "Hi we called to ask if you can come at 2pm instead?" No explanation, and the tone was like she was very unhappy with me. Only after I asked why was told dentist running late due to emergency. Also at this clinic they take photos of your teeth and charge you for it, i think it should be optional service and keep patient informed of extra charge.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Ryan Chan is so patient, friendly and knowledgeable. My 4yrs old daughter had a good experience today. We are quite happy with their services in general. Staff are also friendly and helpful!

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend the dentist Ryan Chan. He was thorough with the cleaning of the teeth, patient and kind. They were accommodating in letting our young son watch on the sidelines while they checked our teeth.

She asked me whether I had any questions/concerns, pointed out things that my previous dentist never mentioned, and gave helpful advice. The technology at this clinic is advanced and impressive. All staff I encountered (including the nurse and receptionist) were very friendly. I will definitely be coming here from now on!
