Negative experience: They said I needed a pinhole filling. I was in pain immediately and they said it would go down. Got worse. Went back after being in pain and extreme sensitivity and then they said I needed a root canal and crown. Then they said it was a big filling. Yeah right. Don't go here, you get what you pay for. I think they drilled too deep and struck the nerve and then they blamed me LOL

Negative experience: Two years ago, I visited Dental 99 and saw Dr. Daryl McCarthy, who told me I had gum disease apparently due to smoking. At the time, I took his diagnosis seriously and left feeling deeply concerned about my health. However, since then, I’ve seen dentists in three different countries, and not a single one has mentioned any issue with my gums not even a reminder to floss. This has led me to seriously question the accuracy of Dr. McCarthy’s diagnosis and whether personal bias, particularly against smoking, may have influenced what he told me. For two years, I lived with the fear of having gum disease based solely on his advice, something that has now been completely refuted by multiple professionals. Dentists have a responsibility to offer objective, evidence-based care, not judgments or assumptions. Unfortunately, in my experience, Dr. McCarthy’s approach caused unnecessary distress and left me with doubts about the integrity of that consultation. I hope this review encourages greater care and accuracy in patient communication at Dental 99. Patients deserve clarity and respect, not fear and confusion.

Fantastic experience: Ms.Knight is what all dentist should be. Great at what she does and kind. Vibes were great. All the assistants were great too. Dental 99 is the best for price, dental work and for feeling so welcomed.

Fantastic experience: I had a check up and clean this morning and Dr. Sin was excellent. I tend to get a bit nervous due to a bad experience elsewhere but Dr. Sin has a very calming manner and I felt completely at ease. I’ll definitely be back.

Positive experience: UPDATED from 1 to 3 stars: – The business eventually responded to resolve the issues. – On another note, I love that intraoral images are provided via the app. My prior 1-star review: We have been trying to reach out for a month regarding an issue from a family member’s last visit on 23/9. Despite multiple attempts via email and chat, we have received no response. This is a breach of Australian consumer law. If we do not hear back by week's end, we will have to file complaints with ADA, AHPRA, and the Health Ombudsman. Please provide a direct contact for immediate resolution.

Fantastic experience: My husband got his tooth removed through Dr Don Sin with the help of his assistant (don't remember her name). Don did a fantastic job, the most pain free extraction my hubby has ever had. It has healed nicely aswell. Don and his assistant had great customer service, well both very gentle and compassionate. They kept him calm throughout the entire procedure and although the extraction was more than $99, it was much cheaper than other dentists. I highly recommend 99 dental to anyone needing a cheaper, pain free and sympathy dental procedure.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Sin is genuinely the best dentist I’ve ever had. I had sensitivity in one tooth that no other dentists would give much attention to. Dr Sin explored every option possible and even checked back with me after my appointment to see how it was. I was really anxious about getting my teeth cleaned with the hypersensitive tooth and Dr. Sin totally put me at ease, he offered local anaesthetic which made the procedure totally comfortable. The appointments never feel rushed and Dr Sin gives great advice for in between appointments

Fantastic experience: I had cleaning done today and the result was great. I normally have so much anxiety while having teeth cleaning done, but today I had a great experience and it was so much better than I was expecting, based on how anxious I usually feel on a dentist chair. Thanks guys

Negative experience: Terrible Job, went for filling and on the spot he asked me for extraction and then change it to surgery which cost me $400. It was too late to say no he did the extraction and only half a tooth. I still got the root of my tooth which was very painful until I went to other dentist for a proper extraction for $200. Not recommended at all.

Fantastic experience: As someone who has had huge teeth troubles from a very young age I was raised hating dentists. But Dr Don and his team are absolute gems, making sure I am comfortable and communicating with me every step of the way. Another huge thank you to the lovely Richelle as well! She has been a god send for helping me with all of my bookings and financials with a bright and bubbly personality (that truly makes me WANT to go to the dentist). My whole life I havent seen dental customer service quite like these guys!

Negative experience: I saw a Dental 99 dentist at Brisbane CBD in August 2022. Xrays were taken. I had decay starting in a tooth but the dentist failed to recognise it. I saw the same dentist again in March 2023. He again failed to see the decay. In November 2023 I saw a different Dental 99 dentist at Mango Hill who looked at my August 22 x-rays and showed me the clearly visible decay that the previous dentist failed to see. this dentist gave me a treatment plan for over $5000 worth of work including an extraction and implant for the decayed tooth. I was told someone would call me to discuss the treatment plan. No-one did but they did email me to ask if I was going to book in for the over-prescribed treatments. I responded querying their failure to detect the decay which now meant I needed an extraction and implant and also questioned how I needed no treatment as at March 2023 but by November 2023 I apparently needed over $5000 worth of treatment including multiple crowns. NO REPLY. There followed months of Dental 99 mostly refusing to communicate but they did admit the dentist missed the decay in August 2022. I saw another dentist for a second opinion. They said the treatment plan was most definitely an extreme case of over-prescribing and that the decayed tooth could probably be saved with a root canal (ie no extraction and implant). This cost me over $1500 where a filling would have been $99 if it had been diagnosed 15 months earlier. Dental 99 took one month to respond to a request from the new dentist for my dental records by which time it was too late and I had already had to pay for more xrays at the new dentist. Of course, Dental 99 has ignored my emails requesting they reimburse me for the root canal. They do not have a shred of integrity and have been completely unaccountable. they care only about dollar signs and not about taking responsibility for their professional failings. Further, despite my asking a number of times, as well as the Office of the Health Ombudsman also asking, Dental 99 has refused to answer the questions about the mis-use of my Medicare number to make claims for x-rays by a practitioner in NSW who is not professionally affiliated with Dental 99 and is not a dentist. This is fraud and I will be reporting it to Medicare. The contempt this company has shown to both me and to the OHO is breathtakingly arrogant. Check their 5 star reviews and decide for yourself if they're all genuine.

Fantastic experience: Dr Sin was so helpful and gentle. He even helped me get my wisdom tooth out despite only booking for a check up and clean. The process for paying for my wisdom tooth extraction in app in the middle of the appointment was also really easy. I would highly recommend, especially if talking to a receptionist stresses you out haha.

Negative experience: I got cleaning and check up.My last appointment they didn’t clean perfectly.They said I need details cleaning.it’s mean more money.I went to other dentist.They clean perfectly.Even I didn’t get x-ray machine cause was broken.I have been waiting 2 months for them fix the machine.Just money trap

Fantastic experience: Went there today to get some much needed fillings done, and Malcolm and Keryn were so lovely to me! I am not an easy dental patient to handle due to panic attacks and a hair-trigger gag reflex. Malcolm took his time while numbing my mouth and left plenty of time for it to take hold before starting the fillings. I really appreciate that you can pay for appointments through the app and that any x-rays taken or additional treatments you may need are lodged through the app as well. I can not recommend Malcolm and Dental 99 enough. His bedside manner is impeccable, and Keryn really helped to calm me down in between the fillings. I gotta get a tooth pulled next, and I'll be going back to them for that, too.

Fantastic experience: I have gone here three times now, once with Darryl McCarthy and twice with Malcolm! Every time I go here everyone is super lovely - the service itself is quick and thorough. After the dentists cleaned my teeth I could immediately feel the difference, it was amazing! I also got a tooth filling here, it took only 20 mins with no pain at all! They took before and after photos which showed me what they had done! I have complete trust in the service and the dentists’ skills - I won’t go anywhere else because why would you want to pay triple the cost for a worse job! Thank you Dental99

Negative experience: I attended Dental99 in Q4 2022 for a check up and clean. I was told that I needed a large number of fillings and that my teeth would progress to needing root canal if I didn't get these done quickly. I was called and emailed numerous times by the treatment coordinator for weeks after my appointment, pressuring me to make an appointment as soon as possible or risk paying thousands of dollars per tooth. I had a feeling something wasn't quite right as the service felt way too 'fast'. As soon as I opened my mouth the dentist started shouting out tooth numbers and calling out cavities whilst barely touching anything. My 'cleaning' was less than 10 minutes, other dentists spend 45 minutes to an hour for a clean. I purchased private health cover in anticipation of serious work being required, and had to serve a waiting period. I've recently seen a different dentist (more than 6 months later) and I have been told my teeth are in good shape and that I only require two very small fillings, and they are not at all urgent. In my opinion, Dental 99 are fraudulent. I asked my new dentist about all these supposed urgently required fillings and she said there is no way that I would have needed that amount of work. I would encourage anyone thinking of going here to go elsewhere. I am now considering a complaint to the regulator. UPDATE: a few weeks after leaving this review, a bunch of brand new Google accounts with 1 or 2 reviews have posted lots of generic 5 star reviews. These guys are obviously paying bots to try and drown out the real reviews - how dodgy can you guys get??

Negative experience: I believe this idea or service is very good and needed, except that the choice of employees in brisbane CBD branch was very bad. the doctor, Darryl McCarthy, was arrogant and asked to go back to my home country to get a simple clean up. that was unacceptable. however, I'm happy here. well he could be right that he definitely doesn't have a british fellowship like my dentist in my home country. the manager was even more arrogant when she tried to play down everything as if I would believe her. well you should show some responsibility towards this fraudulent and arrogant actions. the head office in Sydney must also show them some consequences for this absolute lack of decency. the A tripple C and police must also know. I also reported all what the doctor said and all what the manager said to the Australian federal police. very sad and disappointing.

Fantastic experience: I have had Darryl McCarthy twice now, first for my 2 wisdom extractions and last time was for my fillings. He was great, in and out with no hassle or pain. It is great to have found an affordable way to look after my oral health after putting it off for so long due to cost.

Negative experience: Don't go there! Poor treatment, want more money than agreed upon. When canceled appointment money was gone and they won't do refund.

Fantastic experience: Got some fillings done. Dr. Desmond and the staff were great . They were fast and very efficient. Also helped me with some aftercare treatments without charging. The place is also clean and easy to find. Prices are great. No hidden charges. Definitely going back here. Recommend this place to everyone !

Fantastic experience: Got my teeth extracted here. Very quick and efficient. No additional charge just pay in the app. I entered the room, got my teeth x rayed, saw a doctor, then got my teeth extracted. All of this is in less than 10 minutes. Dentists and assistants are also very nice. The app is easy to use.

Negative experience: twice now, not convinced a 10 minute clean is worth the $100. Breath still smells.makes me cautious about other procedures here.

Fantastic experience: A Monopoly Changer By chance I came across this service and being the sceptic I'am, I questioned how Dental treatment could be so cheap, especially given the "outrageous" costs of Dental care/treatment. No wonder dental hygiene is so poor because people just can't afford it, resulting in a significant societal problem. My message to Dental99.... thankyou so very much for offering people the opportunity to have dental work done for a reasonably price, what a great "paying it forward" to society. The gift of giving people "affordable" and top class dental facilities to get dental treatment done, is a true gift. If only, if only, this service could have been available years ago, I would have a lot more teeth to clean. Value for Money
