My Local Dentists Northmead

Negative experience: I’ve been a patient of Northmead Smiles first / my local dental for about 5 years. I was very happy and was regularly treated by a female dentist for my routine check ups and cleans. Additionally in 2021 I had 2 composite veneer tips extensions placed on my teeth to improve the appearance of my smile by the same female dentist and I was once again very happy. Last year in 2025, one of my composite veneer tips chipped due my teeth grinding / normal wear and tear and I went back to get it redone. This time I had male dentist. Firstly, the colour choice and type of veneer doesn’t match my natural teeth - the dentist chose an opaque veneer in the whitest shade possible. My natural teeth are almost translucent - when you place a finger behind my teeth you can almost see-through, therefore this thick and bright white veneer stands out from the rest of my teeth. Additionally, the length of the tooth this dentist created is longer and doesn’t match the other tooth that has the composite veneer tip. At the time when this dentist was completing this work, I was very uncertain and unhappy with the look of my tooth. The dentist made a comment that perhaps it appeared too masculine, and he filed it down a bit more. I made a comment about the shade of the veneer and noted that it appeared a lot whiter and brighter than my other teeth. The dentist replied and said that he felt it was the correct colour choice and matched my teeth. He also said that it would take time to get used to this new tooth and if I had any concerns about it that I could come back. Respectfully, I don’t feel comfortable coming back to a dentist is who unable to see a colour/density and length discrepancy of a veneer vs my natural teeth. This veneer also sits forward whereas my natural teeth sit back more so sometimes when I smile on the side this tooth is slightly sticking out which is quiet odd. I’ve now had a consultation elsewhere and as soon as I opened my mouth this other dentist immediately noticed this tooth and addressed all of my concerns. It’s extremely disappointing to have spent hundreds of dollars for something that’s meant to be such a minor elective cosmetic treatment - after all, it’s only a tip extension - not a whole veneer. FYI I have plenty of photos to verify all of the above should anyone care to question this.

All the dentists are great, Dr Nicolas has been excellent, especially with our children, and Dr Thomas's advice and treatment has been invaluable. The whole team is welcoming and friendly, and the kids actually enjoy going.

Fantastic experience: Went for extraction of a wisdom tooth. Thomas took the x-ray and explained my condition thoroughly prior to the extraction. The procedure went smoothly. Also, the receptionist Karen was nice to talk to. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Thomas and his staff are terrific! Very efficient and conscious of your time and very caring. It is very impressive to have a local dentist you can trust and does what is required in a timely manner. I can not recommend this clinic highly enough.

Negative experience: Not comfortable with Dr Chou’s approaching.

Positive experience: Dentist Rebecca and Sarah were such nice friendly dentist and they made our experiences an unforgettable one, this 2 dentist in my opinion naturally posses impeccable customer service however I found Thomas Choi a bit strange and rough, a bit heavy handed if I may say, my entire head was vibrating when he was grinding my teeth thank goodness I had anesthesia, he seemed to be rushing a bit and I do not think he did a good job when I saw him and not to mention he also rob me with a substantial amount of gap to pay for just a filling considering I got corporate cover for our private insurance. I just hope they; with his dental assistant, have told me upfront that I have to pay for the shockingly expensive gap, so I had the option of proceeding to the service or not. Anyone planning on going to this dental clinic I strongly suggest to go with Rebecca or Sarah. They are very good.

Negative experience: The lights above the patient are dirty, full of finger prints and saliva, the dentist touches the lights, puts his fingers in your mouth, they are clearly not cleaned up from the patients before. Other dentists cover those with disposable material

I had pain in my wisdom tooth and I went there today to get a solution. He said getting an extraction would be the best way and handled my case with much care as I was very scared. He is an asset to the company!
