Negative experience: Long, frustrating experience — poor communication and outdated dental work. Mel is a lovely man personally, but unfortunately, my experience at Sparkle Dental has been marked by repeated complications, poor communication, and a lack of accountability — especially from staff, particularly Natasha. Years ago, Mel placed a crown that later fell out during the Invisalign treatment I was also undergoing with Sparkle. Mel re-did the crown, but it became highly sensitive. Mel then performed a root canal on the same tooth, which began a long series of issues. I experienced repeated infections, facial swelling, and was placed on antibiotics multiple times over more than a year. I eventually had to see a specialist to have the site cleaned out, and in 2022 another specialist placed a zirconia implant where the root canal had been. That specialist advised the ongoing problems were likely due to an outdated technique a metal rod had been driven through the tooth and into the gum, causing chronic inflammation and infection. Overall, this one tooth has cost me approximately $15,000 in treatment, repeated payments for Invisalign (without ever being able to start), and travel expenses. Despite prepaying for Invisalign years ago, I was never able to complete treatment due to constant interruptions, either from the complications with the tooth or because the clinic was unexpectedly closed when I travelled from Byron Bay. On two occasions, I arrived to find the surgery shut without warning, with Natasha later claiming she had left a voicemail although I had no missed calls or messages. There was never any follow-up or apology. Most recently, I had a final appointment booked for my Invisalign moulds and clearly explained at the time of booking that I was in the middle of moving and may need to reschedule. I called ahead, left a voicemail, I called in total 3 times and sent an email but received no response. That evening, I was labelled a no-show via text. I responded politely with screenshots of my calls and emails, and took responsibility for any miscommunication. Still, Natasha ignored all the evidence and insisted I hadn’t contacted them. This kind of gaslighting has unfortunately been a recurring pattern in my dealings with Natasha. I stayed in regular contact throughout the entire process, including when I was overseas and when I returned, trying to coordinate a simple solution. I even offered to pay for postage and receive an invoice via email so I could have the Invisalign moulds sent to me but this was never followed up. The clinic rarely answers phone calls or emails, which is unacceptable for any modern practice. After years of pain, travel, financial strain, and unresolved treatment, I can honestly say I would not recommend Sparkle Dental for anything beyond a basic clean. I hope this review helps others make a more informed decision.

As a first time client, I came in with excruciating pain after a disaster appointment with another dentist who left me with a broken tooth advising it would need be remove and replaced with a fake tooth. Dr Mel performed a root canal seamlessly and without hesitation. He saved my tooth, didn’t even discuss removing it. He clearly has a wealth of experience and knowledge in what he does. It was a completely painless procedure and It’s not often you say visiting the dentist is an enjoyable experience but I was. It felt warm not clinical. I actually was quite enjoying watching the cooking shows and the natural banter during procedure and not thinking of the time. Amelia please know also you are a gem. Put my nerves to rest with your warm energy. The world need more people like you. Another happy client!

After returning to Sparkle, I found that the pain I was experiencing was avoidable with Mil's care and experience. Dr Mil is one of the best dentists in Brisbane, and you never feel any pain when he’s doing a general clean. The large TV above the chair also serves as a useful distraction throughout any procedure. Dr Mill also transformed my teeth using Invisalign to a point where I enjoy smiling, and I’m not ashamed of my smile. Everyone at Sparkle deserves six stars, and I cannot recommend them more highly!

My partner hasn’t seen a dentist in 15 years and I finally dragged him along and he’s really happy with how comfortable the team made him feel because it can be daunting. Would highly recommend Mil has done my Invisalign and porcelain veneers over the years and honestly I couldn’t trust anyone else with my teeth.

Negative experience: I used to be a loyal customer however have moved on. A crown I had done has fallen off 3 times since, plus fillings had to be redone. At the time I was very happy with the quick service however the results don’t seem to last. I have since paid thousands elsewhere to fix work previously done.

Negative experience: I had a few appointments here during 2018. One of them involved putting a simple porcelain veneer onto one of my two front teeth. The first veneer the dentist put on was a bad colour match so it needed to be re-done. The second veneer he put on doesn't fully cover the entire front tooth, so there is now a perceptible vertical line along the tooth which is gradually becoming discoloured. I also had a number of fillings done, two of which have already needed to be replaced. On one visit, the dentist left me to walk out with cotton padding in my mouth (which was numb) having forgotten to remove them.

Negative experience: Unreliable and misleading.
