Fantastic experience: I visited Hobsons Bay Dental as a walk-in to ask about getting a custom sport mouthguard for Muay Thai. The reception team was very friendly and helpful, and they managed to find me a time slot quickly. The process was smooth and easy normally it takes about 2 weeks, but I received a call in just 5 - 7 days saying it was ready! Now I have my mouthguard, and I love it—it’s a nice design and very comfortable to wear. I would definitely recommend Hobsons Bay Dental to anyone looking for great service and quality results. Negative experience: Mandy the receptionist on the phone at Altona North was really rude and snappy. I called a second time to double check prices and she hung up on me saying “did you just call”. Very impatient receptionist on a Thursday morning.

Fantastic experience: Thank you to Justin and Gianni, they are both very professional and kind. My mum came here to removed all her bottom teeth and got the denture, we are very happy with their efficiency, professionalism and accountability, which we are really appreciated and feel that they are trustworthy. They are both very nice as well, while my mum doesn’t speak much English and I needed to interpret for her, Justin and Gianni were very patient. I will definitely recommend them to my friends!

Negative experience: I've used this clinic since coming to Au 10 years ago when I lived on this side of Melbourne. Was recommended by family. Always great people and care. Recently however it was a different experience. I need two crowns and some fillings and was going to use part of my 'Super' to pay for it as currently recovering from a medical issue. Booked an appointment and clearly stated my intention, paid over a hundred $ for the quote. Was told I had the wrong paperwork so left and brought back same paperwork ( after checking it was correct), driving from Sunshine. Was told they'd call when ready to pick up. After about a week called back and not ready yet. Days later I get message that owner needs to look at the paperwork first. One receptionist said the Dr. didn't want to sign it. No call back. I finally make the drive again and ask....this is days later, now about 2 weeks of waiting. Receptionist said I should have gotten a call that owner needed to look into it. It's now 18 days later and no call back. I have no idea what is going on. I've called other practices and they are familiar with this and no big deal. Can't believe the owner never called me back. Poorly run!!!! Now I have to pay for another quote and waste more time.

Fantastic experience: I had avoided the dentist for just shy of 25 years before making the necessary decision to book an appointment. Dr Andrew & his co-worker Kathy where extremely friendly and the service was exemplary. I will absolutely be booking here again.

Negative experience: Mandy - Incredibly rude receptionist. What was meant to be a 2 part appointment spanned over 2 weeks, has dragged on for over a month. 1st appointment (12th Oct) was meant to be xrays and a clean, but due to a technical issue, only the X-rays were performed. So, I was told the clean would be apart of the 2nd appointment. The 2nd appointment finishes (24th Oct) and I’m told I need to come back again, in another 2 weeks. Instead, it’s booked for 3 weeks away (16th Nov). Irritated, but I’ll live. I then receive a text that my appointment is for a different day (11th Nov), and with another dentist. I call.. In comes the rude receptionist, who answered the phone on behalf of the Williamstown clinic. I begin to explain the above scenario, in which she states “I don’t have time for you to give me dates, I have patients. There isn’t anything we can do. I’ll cancel your appointment.” I ask her to not cancel until a replacement appointment is booked, and that I would like an appointment with my original dentist at some point on the 16th. She states “WELL LIKE I SAID, there isn’t anything she can do, and that you were told you would be seeing a different dentist for a clean.” I express to her that, that never happened, and I purposefully booked another appointment for the same day, as I have moved out of town. She says she’ll need to speak to the business owner and will get back to me. She calls me back and says my original dentist can do the clean, but will need to be another date. Another two weeks later.. I say to the receptionist “That means I would have waited over a month from my last appointment” she replies “no.. it’s 2 weeks from now.. the 25th of Nov” I say in response “My last appointment was on the 24th of October.. that’s a month ago” she quickly says “I GOT TO PUT YOU ON HOLD” and does so, without me even able to register what she said. After waiting 10 minutes, I’m hung up on. I call back and say “Hi Mandy.. it’s Scarlett” and she says “Oh.. sorry.. I was speaking to the owner. We’re going to pass this on to your original dentist and see what she can do.” I say “Okay, no worries. The reason I’m frustrated is because my first appointment was..” again, I’m cut off and she says “I KNOW, IT’S IN YOUR NOTES” I then say “I’m sorry, but you’re not letting me explain myself and you’re being quite rude.” She then hangs up on me. My sister overheard the phone calls and was also shocked at how she handled his conversation. As a previous receptionist, I have never heard such a lack of professionalism. Additional training is needed for her conduct, and it appears she needs to learn how to prioritise her daily duties.

Fantastic experience: Waited a while to see Dan.. after seeing him for the first time it was clear as to why the wait was so long. Dan and Hobsons Bay Dental Altona North were highly recommend by a friend and I’m so glad I found them. Dan was extremely gentle, attentive, informative, knowledgeable and caring I felt so good leaving the clinic. 8 week wait to see him again next and I can’t wait from now! Thanks for looking after me Dan ❤️

Negative experience: Absolutely terrible, clearly over confident. The dental nurse even suggested stopping during the procedure. I ended up needing to attend the ED afterwards. On top of this ask me for extra payment weeks after the consultation for which I paid on the day. I would NEVER recommend attending this practice.

Something I never thought I’d do!! Let alone go willingly! Can’t recommend this place or the people that work here more!

Fantastic experience: Dr Cheng and the team were amazing. I had to get fillings and I hate needles and dentists, but they were so accommodating and lovely. They me as comfortable as they could and it felt like they were done in no time.

Fantastic experience: My son had an accident and clinic squeezed him in for an asessment on the same day. Dr. Swan and her staff were excellent and did everything they could to make my son comfortable and provide guidance to my wife and I on what to do. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: We went there for the first time today. The staff were very polite and the dentist took extra time to go over the x-rays and explain what was required and the options available. She was also working within the options available under our health insurance. I was very impressed and will continue to go there.

Negative experience: Please be careful here. I went to this dentist with moulds that were provided at the end of my Invisalign treatment from the US as a retainer. Over the phone the staff told me they would simply scan my moulds and provide a replacement. I handed over the moulds to the dentist (Jack) and shortly after he left the room with them he came back and said they have been broken, we need to do new moulds here. There was no conversation that the moulds breaking was a risk. It was clear then that this was the dentists intention all along, bill for an additional service. With my moulds now broken I had no option but to let new moulds be made, I was told they would be the same quality as my Invisalign retainer. Whilst jack was on his phone, deeply distracted by god knows a lovely, competent nurse did my impressions and led me to reception for payment. I paid the $800 I was charged for one new replacement retainer. I was phoned two days later to collect. The retainer was left at reception for me to collect and leave. I got home cleaned them and attempted to fit the retainer, the retainer cut my gums and was formed from an extremely thin plastic, nothing like my previous Invisalign retainer. I returned to the dentist to have the sharp Mal-formed edges shaved off the retainer so that it would no long cut my gums. Jack assisted reluctantly, clearly annoyed that this was not billable. I got home and placed the retainer in my mouth, the bottom one broke instantly I called the dentist back but Jack was not available. The following day the top plate broke. (See pictures). Obviously, this is only my experience, I’m sure there are probably amazing dentists at this clinic. I personally felt ignored and ripped off.

Fantastic experience: I cannot speak more highly of the amazing team at Hobson’s Bay Dental. I recently underwent root canal treatment with Dr Dan and beyond happy with the outcome - I truly value his knowledge, excellent bedside manner and attention to detail. 100% recommend this professional practice!

He is a true healthcare professional who actually really cares about the community and his patients. Fantastic experience: I have been seeing Dan since he first opened his practice. I dread going to the dentist but his dental work is excellent! He makes you feel comfortable with music and light humour. I now have my wife and parents seeing him. He also made an excellent mouth guard for my wife who practices martial arts. I have and will continue to recommend his practice to my family and friends in the West and inner West.

Negative experience: Yes, I rang to make an appointment to see Dr Andrews, first the options robot answers and asks which of two clinics. Press 1. Get through to Altona, it rings, then goes automatically to hold. 5 minutes on hold then it automatically goes to " call back ". You guys have got to be kidding ! Charge like wounded bulls and can't even have someone answering the phone, like a receptionist maybe. Last time I was there, got charged a non-attendance fee for being 20 minutes late because of an accident on the ring road, now no one answers the phone. NICE !!! Dr. Andrews is a good dentist, but the business itself is poor.

Fantastic experience: We went to Hobson Bay Dental - Altona North, last night with my 6 year old son, who is typically quite apprehensive about dentists/doctors. Dr Gianni was amazing; extracting my son's tooth whilst keeping him totally calm, reassured and distracted. I couldn't believe how well my son coped. High recommend!!!

Fantastic experience: I used to be a patient of Dr Andrews when he worked out in Sunbury. Nowadays I still travel from the other side of town to visit Dr Andrews at his Altona clinic because he's the only dentist I've ever visited that is actually PAIN FREE! you can't even tell you've been given an anaesthetic. My whole family now visits hobsons bay dental. I'm pretty sure these guys make mouth guards for the western bulldogs too. If they're good enough for the doggies than they're definitely good enough for me! :)
