Dental @ Our Medical Dee Why (Dentist - Dr. Kevin Wijaya)

Negative experience: Disorganised and disappointing Booked twice, and both times they got it wrong. The first time, I arrived on a Sunday only to be told that the dentist doesn’t work Sundays—despite the young receptionist scheduling me for that day. Decided to give them another chance and booked an appointment two weeks later. This time, I confirmed my appointment with the receptionist the day before. On the day, I get a call 10 minutes before my scheduled time, asking if I’m coming at a different time 30 minutes later. I explained I was on my way for the time I was given. When I arrived, I showed the receptionist two confirmation texts proving my appointment time, but the dentist didn’t care and I was told I’d have to wait. Their Google profile also shows incorrect operating hours, which adds to the mess. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place. Definitely not worth the hassle.

The clinic was very clean and hygienic. The location is very accessible too. I have had the pleasure of being a patient of Dr Cyril. He was genuinely gentle and kind. He thoroughly checked and cleaned my teeth. He goes above and beyond to ensure his patients are comfortable and at ease during their visit. Minda is a wonderful dental assistant who sets a welcoming experience. Minda and Cyril worked in sync A had a very good experience with them. Highly recommended!

Everything has gone very smoothly. Kevin is calm, takes the time to educate you on preventative measures and explains everything clearly. Negative experience: I wish I had read previous reviews more throughly before booking the $149 check up for new customers. I was told I needed nine fillings which after a second opinion does not seem to be the case. My gums were left so sore and sensitive (far more so than I’ve ever experienced before) and I also got an infection around my wisdom tooth following the deep clean. I would not recommend this dentist.

Negative experience: I had an appointment a few weeks ago for general check and cleanup. The process was well explained and at the end I was informed that I had to do nine replacement of my current fillings and one more new filling. At the beginning I thought it was what need it to be done but after talking to family and friends they find it strange and recommended to have a second opinion. I went to another dentist and it turned out that I only had to do one filling from the long list. I find this unethical and I wonder how many people end up expending a lot of money with unnecessary procedures.

What’s best is that he will explain things in layman’s terms so that I could actually understand what was needed to achieve and maintain good oral health. Negative experience: Be careful! This is an example of a dentist office that tries to hook you in with a cheap intro offer ($149 for a check up and clean for new patients), but then tries to push services like unnecessary sealing, unnecessary cavity filling, and unnecessary filling replacement, for thousands of dollars. Another example of a place that tries to overservice in order to make money is 99 dental in the city. I have had previous second opinions from a more experienced (and more expensive - $260) dentist who said that all of those recommended procedures are unnecessary for my teeth. Would highly recommend having a google search into dental scams and what they can look like.

For a long time eating particular foods for me is very hard and sometimes painful, however after Dr. Kevin's treatments, my teeth have never felt better and I can now eat everything properly again!
