Fantastic experience: I have just finished having extensive dental work following up implants & bridges with Dr Tanya Gershenzon at Lucas Dental Care in Glen Iris , I would 100% recommend Tanya as a very professional & gentle dentist to young & old I loved the cute cartoons for little one’s on the tv screen overhead , a good distraction from mouth open chair time Tanya is a very easy going & friendly person and she did a wonderful aesthetic job on my new teeth

Fantastic experience: Lucas Dental Care have been fabulous with my son's varied dental issues over many years. A special shout out today to Hillary who squeezed us in at very short notice after my son damaged a tooth on a Friday afternoon. She was fabulous with my 11yo and really put him at ease. I highly recommend Lucas Dental Care, especially for children.

Fantastic experience: I having been taking my two children to see Dr. Sara for some years and she has been excellent with them both, identifying potential issues with their teeth and development early and being so kind and fun for the kids in appointments. Fantastic experience: All the staff here are very warm and accommodating. Our paed dentist Janita was immediately engaging and patient with my 4yo girl, persisting until she could make an accurate assessment of her teeth, then offered me different options to find the right solution for my daughter. Her never-give-up approach was refreshing and the warmth she showed my daughter was greatly appreciated, especially as I had visited another dentist just the week prior and was unable to get a resolution. I also dealt with Megan (practice manager) and she assured me they would all work together to have us covered and cared for. What a lovely group of experienced professionals. Thank you.

My daughter is too young to know this now but her first experience of going under GA and a hospital couldn’t have been better than the one she experienced. Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Dr. Lucas most particularly to parents who are very anxious like myself. My 3 year old son needed a specialist as he have to go under for the dental procedure and the moment we saw Dr. Lucas we already felt that we are in good hands. He’s calm, gentle, professional and very reassuring. I already feel terrible for months for what happened to my son’s teeth and been to few other practices but its only Dr. Lucas who made me feel that “its an easy fix”. I will never ever forget those words as I was reassured that no one else did when I needed it most. Most of all, Mari, the anaesthetist was very delightful. She is great with kids and anxious parents, gentle and very very competent. The wait for the surgery was quite long but it was worth it. Everything went smoothly and the nurses and staff in Cabrini was fantastic. Sandra, the receptionist, was also pleasant, friendly and very helpful from booking us in for appointment to follow up. I couldn’t thank you all enough for the exceptional care and expertise.

Fantastic experience: Sara was amazing with my son really patient with him and myself after we had experienced a really negative experience with the dentist at another practice.

Fantastic experience: VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND. The care and treatment at Lucas dental care is always the best. From the friendly and helpful reception staff, dental technicians and the most wonderful dentist Dr Tanya - who has assisted my children in all areas of dentistry and if needed referred our family to other extremely capable professionals. We are fortunate to have such an excellent service available to us.

Negative experience: The reception staff answering the phone was impatient and discourteous. I am relieved to have avoided this experience and saved my money.

Fantastic experience: An exceptional dental practice. I required an urgent assessment and had been recommended by a friend. Compared to other practices my contact with Lucas Dental Care through Sandra was the best I have ever experienced and I am in my 70s. The dentist provided a service that was informative, professional and caring as were her dental assistants. The whole clinic radiates prefessionalism and welcoming. I was given a priortiy booking and the whole process was not rushed.

Fantastic experience: The team at lucus dental were extremely helpful when i snapped my tooth. They managed to fit me in with short notice and Dr Tanya had my tooth fixed up and feeling good as new.

Fantastic experience: The team at Lucas Dental have been so amazing today. They stayed back over an hour late on a Friday to see our son after he had an accident. Dr. Sara was so incredible with him, our boy responded so well to her and let her examine him easily due to her gorgeous nature. Fantastic experience: Our 4 year old started out here with Dr Sara and we couldn't be happier! For a child who sometimes struggles with different sensations or experiences they are excited to go to see the dentist! Dr Sara and the staff have been wonderful and supportive. Fantastic experience: My son went to Lucas Dental Care in Glen Iris for some teeth removal and crowns. They were amazing, my 8 year old was so at ease that he was actually excited for his dental Surgery. Dr Shangeetha Gunasekaran was lovely and very knowledgeable and was fantastic with my son. The practice Manager, Megan, showed genuine care and her communication was above and beyond. We felt at ease through the entire process and I can't recommend them highly enough!!!

Fantastic experience: As a parent of a young adult with Autism, I couldn’t have been happier with the treatment my child received at Lucas dental, specifically with Dr Nikki. From the initial introductory questionnaire to the way Dr Nikki communicated throughout our appointment - my daughter was able to see a dentist and have the most comfortable experience possible. Very happy with our experience and will be back again.

Fantastic experience: I could not be more thrilled with my daughters experience at Lucas Dental. From the first appointment we were given options without judgement from wonderful Denist Sara. Megan was so accommodating with our challenging private health fund and helped explain to me exactly what we needed to do to book in surgery and how much it would cost. I was overwhelmed and she never once made me feel silly or judged. When we had to cancel the surgery at the last minute due our whole family testing positive for Covid, again the whole team couldn't have been more friendly and kind. There was no annoyance just kind words and rescheduled date. They also quickly refunded our payment no questions asked! When my daughters symptoms progressively got worse, the team again moved mountains to get us a surgery date very quickly and swiftly had us sorted. The day of the surgery James Lucas was so kind and thorough. He was gentle and took his time. We never felt rushed or overwhelmed, I truly felt very comfortable leaving my beautiful girl in his hands. Post surgery she was basically pain free and returned to herself within 48 hours. Dr James must have been so gentle and thorough with her! I couldn't be happier with our choice to go with Lucas Dental. Megan, Sara and Dr James were incredible to deal with! Thanks to all the team for your kindness, patience and level of professionalism with my daughters case!

Negative experience: My sister went there couple of weeks ago and had an unpleasant experience. The care that they offered was extremely expensive. Seems like the clinic cares more about money than anything else.

Negative experience: Didn’t like the experience! Were offered an expensive procedure in hospital to fix my son’s cavities, ended up fixing cavities in a different place

Fantastic experience: Dr Nikki Liew is a gem…as she has such a calm and pleasant manner and approach with our Janette who is now an adult with a severe intellectual Disability. Each visit has been like magic with Dr Nikki as Janette has been an angel patient while having the dental procedure..I have every confidence in her professional advice..The whole team: Assistant Nurse and reception Staff and Management have been truly helpful…heartfelt Thankyou…..

Fantastic experience: Dr Sara Shayegan at Lucas Dental Care made our child’s first dentist experience a joy! I honestly could not imagine it having gone better. It was an appointment filled with smiles and laughter. I was apprehensive, as our child can struggle to stay still & focus, and they were a bit nervous about the appointment. However, Dr Sara Shayegan was brilliant! She truly made it a joyful experience. What a wonderful way to set up a positive association with going to the dentist! Thank you!

Negative experience: Disappointing experience here. They started well, attentive, quick to see us but no follow up or responses to email, calls and voicemail. After telling me my 6 year old needed surgery they never got back to me with a date, not even an email to say sorry we are trying to find one for you. This left her in pain and us scrambling to find someone else to do the surgery.

Positive experience: Dr Tanya and her staff are exceptional. Encounters with (most) receptionists are probably the rudest I’ve ever come across. My rating is based on the fact that they’re the face and voice of the business.

Fantastic experience: Lucas Dental Clinic is not new to me as such. We got my elder daughter surgery in 2017 here and the experience was very good then. Recently visited the clinic for my younger daughter and seems that we have to get her operated as well to fix some dental issues. While we wait for the surgery date to come - a quick mention of Annie Arora @ reception of Glen Iris who was very helpful to provide all the relevant quotes and also provide guidance on the current process and procedures to be followed. Her guidance has helped us to decided sooner than later on the approach we need to go for our daughter's dental treatment. Thanks Annie for your help. Also Megan has been good to go ahead and book us in for the surgery. Thanks.

Fantastic experience: Lucas Dental Care has been amazing. My daughter needed major dental surgery and LDC has been nothing but caring. The customer service and communication were fantastic. Looking after my daughter who has numerous disabilities. Financially, Megan has been so accommodating and helpful, putting to place a plan, so the financial burden wasn't as hard. Thank you LDC for looking after my family and my daughter!

Fantastic experience: We had the best experience at Lucas Dental care today. Dr Lucas, Ashlee and Sarah showed so much kindness and care to my 7 year old who was very anxious about having her tooth extracted. After the procedure my daughter was so happy about how painless it was and is now no longer afraid of dental visits. Lucas Dental is easily the best dental group we have been to and could not recommend them enough!

Fantastic experience: Hillary and Dr Lucas saw my almost 3 year old today. I was a bit worried about how he would go as it was his first time at the dentist and they made the process so easy! He loved riding in the chair and the strawberry toothpaste, he hasn’t stopped telling me about it all morning. The reception staff and nurses were all lovely. I would recommend this practice to anyone!

Negative experience: The most dreadful experience my family had involved encountering a receptionist who displayed a complete lack of customer service skills and didn't even greet me, as if they despised my presence as a customer. Similarly, the dentist showed no greetings or willingness to engage in a discussion before immediately commencing the treatment. There was no consideration given to the fact that it's important for an 11-year-old to understand the nature of the treatment she will receive. It was undeniably the most terrible experience I've ever had. Doctors are expected to exhibit empathy and kindness, as they have the privilege of providing care. However, the staff I encountered during this visit were incredibly arrogant and neglectful. The service was absolutely horrendous.

Fantastic experience: We have had a terrific experience with Lucas Dental. Megan was an absolute pleasure to deal with in arranging my daughters surgery, checking in post op and taking time and care in answering my questions. Both Dr Sara & Juanita were also a pleasure to deal with- professional, caring and great with children. Thanks for your wonderful care.

Negative experience: Waited for a treatment in a hospital for a child, and we were forewarned that due to Covid it takes time to get it booked. Called a few years later, it turns out someone called me several months ago, I didn't pick up so receptionist 'assumed' we are not interested. I would prefer less assumptions taking place, there are several ways to contact people and check. PS. Re healthcare facility reply. I'll stand by my review and I don't agree with it being misleading. I do understand waiting time during pandemic, hence I called 3 years later, and I was not far off the mark as I was told facility tried to contact me last September. The explanation I have got - we tried to contact you, but you didn't pick up the phone, so we assumed you were not interested any more', easily dropping of 2,5 year wait - is absolutely unacceptable, particularly for health care facility, caring for children.

Fantastic experience: Thank you to Ashlee and Jean who both looked after my grandchildren in a fun and professional manner. We have only seen Caroline at the clinic and was nicely surprised at how comfortable the kids felt during there cleans.

Fantastic experience: I have always been so frightened to see dentist..but Hillary from Lucas dental Care is definitely the absolute best dental staff member. She was so gentle with my teeth, walked me through step by step of the process. Can't recommend this place enough.

Negative experience: Since Narisha has departed, we considered taking our children elsewhere but decided to remain loyal to the practice. Recently, however, we experienced both a shambolic and poor admin experience, followed by a poor dental experience. Administratively, we were placed in very lengthy on hold queues, something you'd expect when calling a government call centre, not a private dental practice. Our appointments were - as we were told - changed unexpectedly by 'the system' making it particularly difficult for us, followed by nothing short of abrupt and passive-aggressive service - in particular one of the receptionists, Eleni (I don't like to call out names specifically, but without specific feedback, this review may lack information for Lucas Dental to act upon). Once attending the appointment, a new random hygienist who failed to introduce herself, did the most basic job and then quickly moved on. You could tell she was both rushed and stressed. Profit over patients as someone had mentioned in another review. 7 years of loyalty lost. I hope you read this review and act upon it for the future of your own practice if not your patients.

Fantastic experience: Narisha and Lisa are an absolute dream team!! My youngest daughter has had 3 visits now; assessment and 2 x in chair treatment sessions. Nothing like dentists when I was a kid. Explained everything to me and my daughter calmly, made her feel so comfortable with praise and getting down on her level to talk and just all round beautiful personalities. I can see why all the parents I know say you can't go past Lucas Dental!! I 100% agree

Fantastic experience: Very good with children. I took my children to Lucas after trying 2 other dental clinics. I get gap free for children at lucas with BUPA health insurance extras, dental procedures such as fillings and tooth extraction are less painful as they gave my children gas so it wouldn't hurt

Fantastic experience: Dr Caroline was magic with my 6 year old son. He’s generally a nervous nilly about anyone working in his mouth. Dr Carloine seemed to garner his trust from the word go. Everything she did, and said, put both he and I at ease. Megan also deserves a five star review (she works behind the scenes to coordinate All The Things). She works tirelessly, seamlessly, honestly, and patiently to ensure we’re all headed in the right direction. Kudos to the entire team at Lucas. Will and I are incredibly grateful for your hard work.

All the staff were friendly and caring throughout. They also had appropriate protocols in place to make it a safe working environment.

Fantastic experience: Today I took our 27 year old special needs young man to see Dr. J. Lucas for his six month check up. The compassion and understanding of my sons needs were exceptional both from the dentist and his staff. We were able to be in the surgery to comfort and support our son, and the session went so smoothly . What a success and what a relief to have that special dentist .

Positive experience: I nearly avoided Lucas Dental based on a couple reviews here which left me quite uneasy but we had no other place to go. After a very relieving experience feel I have to leave a review. My son was extremely anxious about an extraction and fillings but in the first visit saw Dr Amy at Bundoora and was put instantly at ease (starting with the receptionist who saw his scared face in the waiting room and was really kind) and then reassured again by both Dr Amy and her assistant. Dr Amy had a fantastic manner, explained everything really well, having done the xrays and exam. The second visit was the extraction/filings, at Malvern, the receptionist here was also friendly and reassuring. Dr Amy was patient with my son's anxiety yet extremely efficient, couldn't have asked for a better bedside manner. I thoroughly recommend these guys (although I hope we won't need to return!!). They are much more expensive compared to our usual dentist, but to be fair they also have sedation and I don't know the standard rates at other dentists who have the facilities for more complex care like Lucas dental. Also, we were given a full write-up of what we'd be charged depending upon the treatment options we chose so they were really transparent and I really appreciate that. I would have loved to have done both the initial assessment and the treatment in the same visit to keep costs down, particularly as we were referred by another dentist who had already done an x-ray so we knew what the situation was, although I understand time is an issue (they are usually fully booked) and besides, they prefer their own assessment/x-rays which is just basic good practice. But most important for us was a good bedside manner and competent dentistry and we really couldn't have asked for better in that respect! I only give 4 stars rather than 5 because they don't automatically claim Medicare through their system when every other medical or dental place these days seems to do.

Fantastic experience: Really happy with my experience at Lucas Dental Care! I saw one of the general dentists - Dr Rachel - for a check up and consultation re: orthodontics. She along with her lovely nurse - Corinne - instantly made me feel comfortable and were able to answer all of my trillions of questions as well as provide thorough exceptional care and advice! I left with a lot of peace of mind about continuing my treatment there. Alicia on front desk was lovely and professional also! Looking forward to my next visit!

Fantastic experience: We saw Dr Narisha recently for my son's first dental check up. My friend Megan has worked at this practice for a long time and recommended that Dr Narisha would be a good fit for my him. Well, it was a great recommendation and perfect "first dentist" experience.!My son can get quite nervous about appointments, but Dr Narisha was so calm and child focused. She took the appointment at the pace that my son needed whilst getting done what she needed to do too. We will be back to continue seeing Dr Narisha for sure.

Fantastic experience: My daughter required an extraction and it was too hard for a suburban dentist...off to Lucas Dental. We were treated by Dr Narisha Chawla....who was fantastic, caring and calmed my daughter. The tooth was extracted and I was very impressed with the whole process.....many thanks

Negative experience: More focused on revenue than customer service. All about squeezing in check ups and other chargeable items - then telling you afterwards and demanding payment. Sneaky. Then they insist they are correct when pulled up on the practice. Avoid. Go to Mint Dental instead - they are excellent, are upfront and put the customer first.

Fantastic experience: Although this dentist is a bit too far for us but I would still recommend this practice for kids :-) My son had his four front tooth extracted and had his regular check ups every six months with Dr Daniel, he is very good and very patient! Made my 3 year old sons dentist experience a happy one :-)

Fantastic experience: My daughter was very anxious about the dentist. When we found out she required 3 fillings we thought she was going to have to be heavily sedated. We were recommended Lucas Dental from another dentist who said they were great with kids. From the get go they were amazing. The dentist was so reassuring and in tune with kids that after the first appointment we didn't even require gas. Couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Negative experience: Very poor phone manner when booking the appointment. Arrived and gave the middle-aged receptionist a friendly good morning and was told “take a seat” without her smiling or even looking up at me from her screen. Went in to see dentist who spent the entire examination gossiping with her assistant. Had a small filling and she did a pretty rough job patching it up with filler - was very rough and is likely to need filing down. On leaving, despite trying to be friendly I found the second mid-20’s receptionist who had appeared on the front deck took my payment without a smile while staring at her screen blankly and looking bored out of her mind. Would not return here if you paid me. Terrible service experience.
