Negative experience: The dentist we used (Linda) no longer works at this clinic. Our sons care was transferred and he was seen by Karen Kan. This business and the people are good for emergency situations when paying thousands of dollars under anesthesia but not to expect an ongoing amicable relationship for the best care of a child.

Negative experience: Wanted to make an apt as my daughters tooth (which we know needs a filling) and has become sore, I called to see if I can get her in to try the chair and was told that I was advised a general anaesthetic. I said yes and I was also told she could also attempt the chair and was advised it would be several visits and could I make an appointment to try. First i was told, she was only in 2 weeks ago (which i know but her tooth was not playing up then), then when i asked would it be possible to make an appointment to try? I was told ‘nope, GA!’ I said ok then (a bit taken a back), and just as I was about to ask if I could talk to the dentist about the treatment plan I was hung up on! I would like to add that last time I felt pushed Into the hospital treatment which was going to cost around $6,000. I called and emailed the private hospital to get an estimate and no one responded. I was quite upset as when I was hung up on as then I knew it’s just about the money which is disappointing as the dentists were all lovely and my daughter liked them. Will need to seek another dentist as i would not feel comfortable calling again.

Fantastic experience: My daughter has received excellent care from Dr Karen Kan, Emma, and Margaret, who have all shown remarkable patience and friendliness in her treatment plans, and their follow-up services have been incredibly thoughtful. Fantastic experience: Dr Karen Kan and the whole team are wonderful. My daughter suffers severe dental anxiety and she was looked after with care and patience. Fantastic experience: We had a fantastic experience with Dr Karen Kan. We got an appointment within 4-5 weeks of the initial referral and my daughter had her extractions carried out by Dr Kan in hospital 4 weeks after the first appointment. All organised very quickly and lots of follow up from the clinic. A great experience all round.

Fantastic experience: My son had intensive dental treatment procedure done at the hospital by Dr Karen Kan recently. We are absolutely very please to see the treatment and recovery went very well. My son has no complaints about feeling pain or sore gums (Panadol or nurofen is unnecessary), bleeding ceased after a few hours. Dr Karen Kan is a very skilful doctor. A very solid team running, planning the schedules and maintaining good communication throughout the process. Straight off the bat, we are very well informed with all the steps required, providing consistent reminders along the way, making sure everything is running smoothly. I appreciate the care and concern from Dr Karen Kan and her team. They called in to check on my son a day after the procedure to make sure my son is healing well and everything is good, and assuring us that we are always welcome to reach out for any queries. I appreciate them for being responsible, caring, professional, and skilful in their own areas of expertise. A big thank you to Dr Karen and her team.

Negative experience: Margaret the receptionist who answered the phone was rude, unhelpful and asked completely irrelevant and intrusive questions. Then suggested since they didn't have any vacancies for the recommended dentist I wished my disabled grandson to see, that I get a referral to the Royal Children's Hospital where he could be seen without private fees.She interrupted me several times as I tried to explain that since Dr Kan had been recommended as having successfully treated another similarly disabled child I was happy to pay and that it was more important that he had a calm experience and saw someone knowledgeable on his disability and how to manage treatment. Margaret s irrelevant and intrusive questions about where I had previously been in regard to advocacy for my grandson left me distressed and shaking. When I advised her that my personal life had no relevance to making a dental appointment she neither apologised nor acknowledged that her questioning had upset me. I then terminated the call. The next day I felt so upset about the way I had been treated, I emailed the practice to complain.I received a reply apologising for my 'encounter ' and asking me to call the clinic where they could offer me some dental management strategies. They did not at any point advise that more client service training would be offered to Margaret. Looking through prior complaints it appears I'm not the first to find this receptionist completely unfit to hold the position. As the face of the company she failed to present the clinic in a positive way. Avoid this group if they cannot maintain and train good staff. I am writing this 3 months after the initial call due to being so traumatised by the call. On a side note my grandson was successfully treated using happy gas by a great practice and l'll be recommending them on their website and on our FB website for ASD aware practitioners.

Fantastic experience: My daughter had extensive decay on a few teeth and required deep filling and root canal. Referred to Kew Paediatric Dental and we had great help from Margaret and Dr. Karen Kan. Staff were all caring and considerate which helped removing anxiety for my 6 years old girl. We were able to secure an appointment and hospital spot all within 2 weeks, and the whole operation was smooth and experience was positive. Dr. Kan was gentle and professional to my girl. My girl didn’t need to take further Panadol 1 day after the operation, and feeling no pain since then. Definitely recommended for kids who are anxious for dental treatment. Negative experience: Took my daughter to here and got advised a general anesthetization is 100% required to remove/fill for one big tooth decay, and filling for another two minor tooth decay. Consultation plus Xray costed me $400+, planned surgery would be around $7k-8k. I have strong objection for having my young daughter(4.5 years old) having the full general anesthetization so I took her to another normal dentist for a different opinion, where my daughter ended up having all 3 decayed tooth filled without any anesthetization within an hour, and less than $400. I am not a professional in dentistry, only judging from the outcome, I would not return or recommend Kew Paedistric to anyone who is reviewing this.

We are sorry that we did not meet your expectations. The majority of parents who are referred to us for specialist treatment are seeking the best quality care for their child. At your daughter's consultation you were provided with treatment options based on international paediatric guidelines which are the standard of care in the management of dental disease.

The treatment estimate proposed to you was for comprehensive dental care for five teeth; the three larger cavities as well as two smaller cavities which you were given the option of having treated at the same time. The quote was not just for the dental treatment alone but also inclusive of hospital fees and specialist paediatric anaesthetic fees for an uninsured patient. You were under no compulsion to follow our recommendations and we provided you with your child’s radiographs so that you could investigate other opinions and treatment costs. You were given the opportunity to contact us if you decided to proceed with comprehensive care under general anaesthesia.

Thank you for informing us that you have accepted alternative treatment for your daughter’s three large cavities. We hope she has optimal dental health and we thank you for the opportunity to respond to your review.

Fantastic experience: I can’t rate Dr Karen Kan highly enough! She was wonderful with my 5yo son. His anxiety was reduced with her friendly and efficient nature and the GA procedure couldn’t have gone more smoothly. Dr Kan was extremely thorough and there were no surprises with the outcome. Her extended team with Margaret and Vanessa have been fantastic throughout and with following up post operation. Definitely recommend Dr Kan!

Fantastic experience: We've had a fantastic experience with Dr Karen and her team. Every single person on staff knew exactly what they were doing and clearly they run a very tight ship in terms of professionalism. Pricing was very fair considering it's a specialist and they demonstrated integrity by reducing the scope of the work done when we'd already approved a more expensive procedure. Our son is a bit sensitive to new environments but never had a single complaint their "bedside manner" with kids is excellent. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Negative experience: Disappointing service from the receptionist who considered her role as gatekeeper. Practice is unable to accomodate emergency/acute appointments and appears to be focused on profits rather than patients.

Fantastic experience: My 10yo son was referred to Karen as he needed a difficult extraction done and had multiple issues to attend to due to a combination of (covid) missed early treatment, and long term enamel issues. Karen has a wonderfully kind personality, very thorough and every detail explained for both myself and son. Our hospital experience was faultless, anethetist thorough and personable. The work done was efficient, and my son has recovered much quicker than I expected. Margaret (reception) made all "admin" stuff quick and easy for me to complete. I would highly recommend for complex/extensive needs or for anxious children. Having completed orthodontics with elder children, the surgical fees were also very reasonable.

Negative experience: This "less than one star" goes to the customer service. The lady has been nasty to customers over the phone and in the clinic. Never feeling of accusing someone with racist, and this is first time I feel been discriminated and coming from same Asian background is disappointing and unacceptable. The doctors there were great and professionl. However, we ended up not coming back again because of this bad customer service, of the front desk lady.

Fantastic experience: My 5-year old daughter was referred to Dr Linda following discovery of three spots of decay between teeth (which had not been picked up during routine inspections with our usual dentist), requiring multiple fillings. Dr Linda was wonderful in her manner with my daughter and talked through the two main options for treatment with me. Given the extent of work required, I considered having all work done at once under general anaesthetic was the best option for my daughter. We were very happy with the procedure - both Dr Linda and the paediatric anaesthetist recommended by her were fantastic, and made both me and feel daughter feel very much at ease. Follow up after the procedure and experiences with other staff at the clinic have also been excellent.

Fantastic experience: My son has been a patient with Kew Paediatric Group for 4 years. Dr Karen and her team have always shown the utmost care for my son during his dental treatment. Fantastic experience: I would like to thank doctor Karen and her team for the great care they have taken of my 8 year old son. My sons general dentist diagnosed my son as suffering from hypomineralization and severe tooth decay as a result we were referred to Dr Karen who is known for her expertise in treating hypomineralization. Dr Karen was thorough both in her treatment and explanation. My apprehensive son was immediately comfortable and receptive of treatment. In total he needed to have 5 teeth removed, 3 fillings and other treatments, these were done under general anaesthetic. My son can now eat pain free and looks after his teeth thanks to Dr Karen's advice.

Negative experience: We had the same experience as the other guy who reviewed 10 mth ago. We were given the advice that our child could not handle local anaesthesia in the clinic, we could only do it in the hospital which is going to be super expensive and she also wanted us to treat other teeth problems altogether in the hospital in one go, because she wanted no more disease after her treatment, regardless of the unnecessary cost for us. She made me feel horrible after the consultation. Anyway, we sought for second opinion from a local family dentist, who then solved our problem easily. Our child had been treated with care and left the clinic happily. We saved thousands of bucks and one month waiting time. Thank goodness we didn’t listen to this “specialist”. Will never go back there again.

Fantastic experience: My daughter needed 2 teeth removed and she was very scared and nervous so we were referred to Dr Karen by our dentist. The staff were very friendly and the hospital procedure went really well. Everyone was very helpful and we were given lots of information before everything. My daughter recovered really well and wanted to thank everyone who helped her as this was the best outcome for her. There was one lady on reception who was a bit short with us but feel she could have been in a rush but overall everything went smoothly.

Negative experience: We were given an ultimatum that the only solution for our child was an expensive hospital visit. No other options were provided. We were told our child could not handle a local anaesthetic in the chair and that a general anaesthetic in a hospital was unavoidable. The list of recommended treatments was long and unnecessary. I sought a second opinion with a local male dentist - not a child specialist. No fluffy toys but a much better client experience overall. He had a much better chair side manner and built rapport and trust with my child. This culminated in the required work being done in the chair under local anaesthetic (gas, numbing cream, injection). Hospital was avoided and much less work than previously recommended was required. The approach at the Kew Clinic was rushed, patronising and I felt like I was being spoken down to. It was made clear that getting a second opinion was not welcome and I was discouraged from doing so. This whole approach to medicine is outdated and unhelpful.

Fantastic experience: Karyn and her team were very professional before and after our dental visit to hospital. Our son is very anxious about needles etc and had to have a general to have two fused baby teeth taken out plus roots protruding from gum area ( a messy job really). We were advised to give him a pre medication to relax him by the anaesthetist and from start to finish my son was cared for and the whole procedure was painless, he couldn’t remember a thing and asked for his IPad the min he woke up not one tear. One dose of Panadol the next day and it was like it never happened. I’m super impressed with the results of how the front of his mouth looks! Well done, couldn’t be happier!

Negative experience: Appalling customer service!!! No empathy for any issues, No 'sorry'. for the massive inconvenience you have caused time and time again. I will never EVER set foot inside this dentistry again. You have to lift your game. Oh and just so you know an email is all the authority you need! you DO NOT need a signature!

Negative experience: Very bad customer service. I agree. They do not accept Amex, which is fine. They also do not accept bank transfer or BPAY. I asked to come back and pay on the second day, they said there will be a $20 surcharge..... Who set up the ridiculous rules? I hope this kind of out-of-date clinic no longer exists.... The examination process was very quick and finished in 2 minutes. I am very disappointed...

Positive experience: Dr. Karen Kan has been our family's paediatric dentist for more than a decade. Karen and the KPG Team have done an amazing job educating my three children on dental hygiene and supporting them through dental procedures, both simple and complex. Fantastic experience: Dr Karen and Dr Jamie are the most thorough and caring dentists I have met. They take their time, and make sure your child is at the centre of their attention. Having a 1yo experience trauma is one of the most stressful things a parent can go through, but having Dr Karen calmly explain what to look for and how treat it, is very reassuring. I highly recommend children visiting Kew Paediatric Group even for regular checkups.

Negative experience: I'm actually putting a star because I can't put less! Very bad costumer service, horrible information and dramatic staff! When I asked about the manager she said I am the manager and there's nothing we can do to assist you on this stage. She even hung up the phone on us!! Gave us wrong information about Medicare and wrong information about our daughters dental health, which left us out of pocket! They urged for a $6000 operation while she did not need that as advised by another dental practitioner.
