Fantastic experience: I had my tooth filling done yesterday with Dr. Yu, and the kids had their cleanings. He took his time and did it professionally & carefully, and he was very gentle with the kids as well.

Fantastic experience: Our family has been with Dr Jake Yu over the years. He actually does a very good job cleaning and filling teeth. We are pretty happy with his service. We come to see him every 6 months for dental.

Negative experience: Seems they do not care about their clients after they paid money for services. Requested 2 times information about last visit to find out what has been done but both times they have ignored my emails. In addition, for the money you're paying I was expecting better service as they do not let the client to spit. That thing to suck extra saliva did not work well or was not set up properly. When I brought my mother to fix the tooth there she has told she was not given a chance to spit for a long time. She then visited another dentist and said the have give her chance to spit and experience was much better than in the Downtown Dental clinic.

Negative experience: I showed up today at 2, and no one was there. Sign says closed. Online hours say it’s open. Bizarre.

Negative experience: Went in with a severe toothache. He found the problem, and started working on it. Halfway through the pain medication wore off and I was in severe pain with a nerve showing. Instead of taking the time to re-numb me, he continued. I’ve never experienced pain like this at a dentist before, and burst into tears after. Just spoke to another dental clinic who asked me who did the previous work. When I told them, they said they’ve seen over 20 patients who have been to him and then come to them to fix it. I don’t usually write negative reviews, but feel it may help someone to avoid the pain. Choose somewhere else.

Negative experience: I visited this clinic for the first time in May last year for a routine check-up and teeth cleaning with Dr Jake Yu. Unfortunately, it was the most painful cleaning experience I've ever had, leaving my mouth bleeding heavily and even spitting out blood clots. I was told that excessive power from the ultrasonic scaler could cause bleeding, so I didn’t think much of it and followed Dr Jake's advice to schedule tooth filling. After the filling, one of my baby teeth (which lacks an adult tooth) became extremely sensitive. Even the slightest exposure to hot or cold would cause excruciating pain that lingered for a long time. Prior to this, I had never experienced tooth sensitivity in my life. Desperate for relief, I booked another appointment to address the issue. However, Dr Jake insisted that primary teeth shouldn’t have nerves and therefore couldn’t be causing the pain. He suggested other possible reasons, but I experienced the sensitivity immediately after the filling, making other causes unlikely. He eventually added more filling material, hoping it would resolve the issue. Unfortunately, the pain persisted and even spread to my cheek, forcing me to seek help from another clinic. The dentist there explained that baby teeth can have nerves and provided detailed treatment, including adjusting the misaligned filling from the previous treatment. After that, the unbearable pain subsided. However, due to the earlier improper treatment, the affected tooth couldn’t fully recover. The excessive stimulation of the nerve led to recurring inflammation, and the new dentist concluded that the tooth can barely be preserved longer. Now, my only option is to extract the tooth I had carefully protected for nearly 30 years and replace it with an implant. I also have other baby teeth without adult teeth, and they function perfectly fine. This one only deteriorated due to the filling procedure. While Dr Jake and his assistants were friendly and polite, I found the level of expertise and technical skills lacking. If your oral health is already in good condition, you may not notice significant issues right away, but over time, it might still become a concern. For anyone who might be more susceptible to the effects of less-than-optimal dental care, I recommend considering your options carefully before visiting this clinic.

Fantastic experience: Dr Jake was so kind & caring to my 9 year old son. He took the time to explain what was happening in age-appropriate terminology & did not rush us at all. His dental assistant was so sweet, ensuring my son had a toy to cuddle & spoiling him with reward stickers. The surgery was spotlessly clean & the booking process was a breeze. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Emergency after hours. Dr Jake answered the phone and sorted out my 9 year old after he broke a tooth off. He was there till nearly midnight !, saved the day !!

Negative experience: My appointment was cancelled because sms was not responded to in sufficient time. No call or message to advise it was cancelled. Not a very good booking system. Called to reschedule overheard talking about other patients conditions while 'on hold'. 2 strikes without even sitting in the seat, don't bother.

Fantastic experience: Had a broken tooth which was causing me great discomfort, managed to get an appointment at downtown dental on the weekend. I was given my options and decided to go for an extraction. It was very difficult to get out and took about an hour. Dr Tran and his assistant were excellent . Best patient manner . Highly recommend

Fantastic experience: I came here for an emergency appointment for a broken front tooth. I was nervous but the friendly calm nature of Dr Tran immediately put me at ease. He explained the treatment and (very reasonable) cost before he started. The treatment was quick, and painless and I was blown away by the result. My tooth looks exactly the way it did before the break!! So so pleased!! Will definitely be back!!!

Fantastic experience: My kid is at the age now when his teeth are changing. He has been struggling with his upper tooth for a while. It moved and hurt but was still strongly attached and gave my kid lots of grief since the area got inflamed. Over the long weekend he couldn't take it anymore and was asking to go and see a dentist. For a young kid to ask to see a dentist it was a huge sign for me that I would better act fast. I searched the Health Engine and found a couple of clinics, which we could visit. I called Dr Tran's office and had a talk and was given an advice on all the potential costs and possibly required procedures. Dr Tran and his assistant were wonderful. Dr Tran assessed my child's situation and suggested to remove two teeth since the second one would have been ready to go soon as well. Even if Dr Tran made clear what's his professional opinion was, we were given a choice with no pressure. The patient made a decision to remove both teeth. The procedure was quick and without complications. I am very happy with the care provided.

Fantastic experience: I had a general cleanup, teeth whitening and three fillings done by Dr Vincent Tran. Having just moved from Melbourne, Dr Vincent and his assistant were very welcoming. Dr Vincent was very thorough in his checkup and explanation of what I needed done. He was very gentle and ensured that I was comfortable throughout my appointment. Fantastic experience: I booked with Dr Tran at Downtown Dental the night prior to my appointment. Having not been to the dentist in 14 years, I was putting it off because I was terrified. Not only did Dr Tran explain everything very carefully to me, he and his assistant Mr Nguyen were able to perform 3 fillings in that initial appointment. I have always heard such terrible stories about fillings but I experienced no pain. Downtown Dental is very fairly priced for the location and the professional service offered. Fantastic experience: Doctor Vincent Tran has provided dental care for me and my wife for years and we are always very happy with his work. Dr Tran is a great dentist, very thorough, gentle and professional. He takes time to explain and give valuable advice that you can trust. This week, we just had an appointment with Dr Tran at Downtown Dental. This clinic is conveniently located, new and nice with new equipment (including Ipads in waiting room for patients to use :). We are again very impressed with Dr Tran and Hoa ( the dental assistance) for their excellent customer service, politeness and professional. Fantastic experience: I was really impressed by Dr Vincent and his team at Downtown Dental. The clinic is equipped with the latest technology and Dr Vincent was very friendly, skilled and thorough. Using x-rays he had taken, Dr Vincent carefully explained the problem, provided treatment options (including happily referring me for a second opinion) and carrying out the treatment with great skill and care, and all at a very reasonable price. Fantastic experience: I cant recommend this place enough. If you have a phobia of needles, this is the place to go. I had to ask if they had done it, because there was zero pain! I was super happy with their work and they are very caring and explain everything. No out of pocket expenses for my xrays and scale and clean and the filling was so cheap I couldnt pay fast enough.
