Negative experience: I would not recommend this practice. I got my 3 wisdom teeth removed and paid a very large amount for it. The dentist known as Mr Pathak met with me prior to my procedure and I asked if I could have more pain relief if needed, during the procedure (such as gas). He said yes this was a possibility but that he didn't like doing it as much, as it relaxes the mouth and makes it harder to open. I insisted that I would still like the option on the day, should the procedure become too painful. So, I paid the full deposit the day before, including the pain relief gas. The next day when I came in for the procedure, there was no debrief, no time to make me feel safe, aware of the procedure and comfortable, (except his wonderful dental assistants oh my gosh, who were so lovely, literally wiping my tears and rubbing my back while I cried.) I was very anxious after receiving the codine, crying and hyperventilating. So, when the procedure began I asked for the gas after they had given me about three needles of codine as I was still feeling the pain of the implements. Dr Pathak said, 'I didn't need it and it makes the mouth harder to open during the procedure'. I continued asking about three times, literally begging, after I realised it was never going to happen, I had to give up and just went through a horrible experience. I felt like I was in a torture chair. I was rushed out afterwards so they could see another patient. Luckily the receptionist was lovely and they handed me a pamphlet about after care. I was so sick that night with a fever, vomiting and severe stomach pains (which I'm told could be just after-effects of the codine). But honestly, it was just such a traumatic experience. I felt so silenced, so alone and anxious. Dr Pathak absolutely provides no care for his patients and did not provide me with a post extraction consultation. I did however, see a female dentist at the Smile Sensations in Gungahlin for the post extraction consultation and she was wonderful. Made me feel so comfortable, safe and heard. Asking permission to touch people, do simple tasks in their mouth, explaining the processes you're doing and why and asking if they need breaks goes A LONG WAY! I have never and will never be returning to Smile Sensations in Manuka.

Had been putting off my checkup & clean for years as dentists I have seen elsewhere weren’t very understanding of my sensory issues surrounding dental work. Past providers I have seen throughout my life made it difficult to stay on top of my dental maintenance because I would leave appointments feeling judged and chastised for not having perfect teeth. Inés took very good care of me, is incredibly thorough and has excellent bedside manner. It’s a relief to finally find a caring dental provider that makes me feel comfortable. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Dr Hamid Kangarshahy. I’ve had some bad experiences with dentist previously and I was nervous about needing a crown due to damage from clenching my teeth. He was so kind in explaining the procedure and risks when I got anxious with the consent form. He frequently checked in during the two appointments needed and made sure I felt okay. He made sure the crown fit perfectly and ensured I knew to contact him if any issues after. Fabulous dentist 10/10

Negative experience: I would not recommend this practice I got my 3 wisdom teeth removed and paid a hefty amount for it. The dentist known as Mr Pathak spent no time in discussing any options with me to make me feel comfortable during the procedure or provide with pain relief such as gas during the procedure. The dentist was quickly done with my procedure and jumped on to the next one and provided no information for further care or didnt check with me during the procedure if I was doing ok it felt like I was on a torture chair. When I was leaving the receptionist provided me with a paper that had few dot points for “in home care”. After few weeks when I went for follow up the Mr Pathak never saw me to see how the healing process was going another dentist/ dental nurse examined me and said everything is fine despite me complaining about pain on one side. After another week in excruciating pain I went back to them and this time some other dentist examined me and said you have infection in one of the stitches which didn’t dissolved so we will have to remove it without any pain relief it was extremely uncomfortable and painful. I decided to never go back to them even though I was a regular patient. Dr Pathak absolutely provides no care for his patients and never provides post extraction consultation. There are definitely better Dentists in Canberra than him and this clinic.

Fantastic experience: They are a fantastic professional team that get the job done correctly at a reasonable price. The process and equipment they have for preparing a tooth for a crown, manufacturing the crown and fitting it all in one visit is great.

Fantastic experience: My daughter had a dental emergency on Christmas eve and the office had closed, but I was able to call the emergency number provided. Sally was extremely understanding and helpful in organising an appointment at the Calwell surgery for 5pm the same afternoon. The restorative dental work performed was great and very much appreciated by my daughter. I cannot thank Smile Sensations, Sally and the treating dentist at Calwell, enough for their kindness and professionalism in responding to my daughter's dental emergency.

Positive experience: I just finished my brace with them for the last 2 years. Initially it was supposed to take 1 year. However with the first dentist there, she didn’t really listen to my feedback and took things for granted, so after a few sets of trays, my teeth were still not completely aligned even she said okay. Innes picked up things from there. She is so professional and courteous, making me feel much better in the last half year. More amazingly, she made my teeth finally straighten and gave a thorough clean afterwards. At the end, as their promotion at the beginning of my treatment, I would receive a teeth whitening kit worth hundreds of dollars. But I didn’t get the dedicated bleaching trays. The first dentist wanted to save cost and asked me to use my retainer to do that. Overall, the experience was okay. Many staff there are friendly and professional especially Innes, I highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: Came in for a clean today, it was my first time ant this practice and I generally dislike the dentist because of my sensitive teeth but the oral health therapist Ines was so comforting accomodating and gentle throughout the whole appointment. The team on reception Simi and Ben were both very welcoming and informative before and after my appointment. The clinic interior is what I liked most. I was very over due however she made me feel at ease and checked in on how I was going offering breaks throughout the cleaning process. She was also able to make me a treatment plan to get everything back on track explaining all options. Negative experience: I would not recommend going here unless you have no choice. These dentists try to rip you off. First make you remove your retainer, then ‘recommend’ you to get a new one and also an invisible one for which you have to pay out of pocket. Then a few months later your teeth starting moving again and you’ll end up with a gap between your teeth

Negative experience: I went there to get my braces done, they told me it’ll take 6months because my teeth were already straight and have a small gap. It took 2 years for them to take the braces out and they did not clean my teeth. They just placed the metal behind my teeth so they don’t move after braces. Within a week the metal fell off. I went there 4 times to get a retainer. Bad!!!!! Teeth were bleeding and was very uncomfortable My gap is back, my back tooth has been push too far that it’s turning on the side - very painful experience. I called to ask for help, I was told it’s my fault etc … it’s frustrating because I paid so much money for nothing!!! I still have some of the glue from braces on my teeth. I don’t know what to do!!! Please guys if you value your money and time just DONT GO THERE!!!!! Careless!! Braces cost a lot and to get this kind of treatment is sad. Starting from zero!

Fantastic experience: After embarrassingly admitting I hadn’t been to the dentist in 6 years, I knew I would need some work. I was nervous but was put at ease by the friendly demeanour by all the staff. Zoe did my check up and clean and was very knowledgeable, gentle (as possible) and friendly. I had 2 appointments with Dr Basoeki for 3 fillings, including one that was very close to needing a root canal. Dr Basoeki was quick, professional, kind and very good. The dental assistants I had were all very kind and calming. I didn’t feel the injections at all, and the only thing that hurt the most was keeping my mouth open for so long. Also, covering the gap fee for my check up and clean after my private health was an amazing bonus! I could go on and on, I even recommend my friends and family there. The staff are always prompt and on time every time I have been. I’m actually looking forward to my routine check & clean in the new year as I know my experience will always be good & looking forward to work on my smile aesthetics in the future. The team should be congratulated!
