Negative experience: Booked emergency appointment with boyfriends at 1:40pm not showing up. Pulled wisdom tooth out without stiches for someone who has avid reflex and blood running until 12h later. Cant eat for 42h and doctors missed appointment. I dont know if its normal or just incompetent. Counter lady cut off old lady talking. We are the patient not criminals?!!

Negative experience: Waited 30 minutes on a Friday afternoon to be seen by Dr Law and had to leave due to other commitments. No forewarning of the delay. Not professional. Not considerate for the patient. I don’t recommend this dentist based on this negative experience

Fantastic experience: Have had Dr. Jason Law for two appointments now, one checkup and one filling. The initial checkup was gap-free which was lovely. He's professional, knowledgeable and went back several times to try and get the filling as comfortable/natural as it could feel on my end. It'd been about 10 years since my previous dentist visit and the care I received at DB Dental was exactly as I hoped (but the parking lot is atrocious, would suggest arriving 5 minutes early to be able to park).

Fantastic experience: I recently had an annoying crown toothache, rang DB Dental in Applecross and was given an appointment within a few days with my regular dentist, Lori. Turns out that after an xray and to my huge relief, nothing showed up and no treatment was necessary and it has since settled down.....maybe I need to floss there less vigorously! I had an appointment coming up for my usual scale and clean, so Lori kindly did that while I was there and I must say, that scale and cleans are not torture like they used to be! I have been a patient of Lori's for many, many years and love her gentle and caring nature, every time I have visited! If it's possible, I don't mind a visit to my lovely dentist!

Positive experience: Due to trauma experienced as a child with a dentist or should I say butcher, Dentists really frighten me. But since going to DB Dental Applecross (as an adult), I have found the experience to be pleasant, I dont get nervous any more. The staff are great, they explain what they need to do before they do anything and put me at ease

Fantastic experience: I have been going to DB dental (Riseley st Applecross) for 15 years and my dentist for several years is Dr Priya who is the BEST dentist ever she is so professional, informative and explains all aspects of your treatment in a calm & caring manner. I just wish that I had found her before my bad experience of several other dentist which had left me extremely apprehensive and anxious. Highly recommend

Negative experience: Brought my daughter in for a scale and clean. She is 14. We had the first appointment of the morning. The dentist arrived 10 minutes late to the clinic, hair out, looking disheveled. She took my daughter in another 5 minutes later. My daughter said the dentist was extremely rough, and the nurse constantly hit her epiglottis with the suction pipe causing her to gag multiple times. At no time did the dentist explain to her what she was doing next, just rushed through the procedure. This is the first time using this clinic and we will never go back. Avoid being booked in with Lori!

I have been to see her twice and had a couple of different procedures done and I cannot praise Dr. Liao and her team enough for the care I received. If it wasn’t good I would say but it was exemplary and I am very happy that I found this practice and practitioner. I will be coming again for certain- straight forward advice, great care and efficient.

Fantastic experience: The smile makers. In an emergency you can come in without an appointment, but otherwise once you make an appointment and arrive, you won't wait long. You don't need to bring a wallet if you have phone apps for insurance and payment for any possible excess; the insurance and payment process is instant and there are also payment plans if you don't have insurance. I have been seeing Dr Lori Liao for nearly a decade now, she has a reputation of a miracle worker. No matter how difficult the job, e.g. fillings or tooth reconstruction, she does it really well. At first you may get the impression that she's unfriendly - her focus is on your teeth and mouth health first. In emergency situations she will calm you by explaining what needs to be done. In one case, I broke a tooth due to injury and while two other dentists wrote it off saying it needs to be extracted, I was told to see Dr Liao and she was able to perform a root canal and a complete rebuild - and almost 10 years later it still holds strong. I believe you get two free cleaning sessions per annum (check your insurance cover) so take advantage of that, it's great to have that smooth feel. I would definitely recommend Dr Liao to everyone, she's very good at her job and so are the technicians. There is no rush, they make you feel comfortable, make sure there's no pain (and I usually need three injections). The receptionists are delightful, they're great putting you at ease.

Negative experience: I was thoroughly disappointed with the examination and I received from this dentist. Dr Lori rushed whole procedure, skimming my teeth briefly with the polishing tool. My teeth did not feel clean at all, nor did I feel like my concerns for my teeth were heard as she didn't even say anything the whole time except recommend me a $500 mouthguard. low income but thought my dental health was worth investing in, only to be disgusted by the service I received, for the price I paid. This practise needs to reconsider the employment of this dentist, this is obviously not the first complaint against her

But Dr Jason Law was very professional, friendly and patient. He always welcome me and take time to explain what's going on, what can I do next. Feel secure as he always ask whether I am OK during the treatment. So lucky to meet a dentist like this.

He took the time to explain the procedures, to give pain free treatments, and answered all our boring questions. Unlike our previous experiences at other preferred provider dentists, I found Dr Michael to be professional and had genuine care about us. Negative experience: My mother has had a toothache for a while and unfortunately, her usual dentist is away and I decided to find a dentist (preferably female as mum requested) and the nearest one was DB Dental in Riseley Street. And mum was booked to see Dr Lori Liao. Little did I know that we would be in for the most traumatic experience. As we sat in the chair, no greeting or introduction for first time clients by Lori or the nurse. She just went straight in to discuss that the tooth needed extracting. I had sent mum's x-rays which were taken June 2017. Mum paused her and said "Hi what was your name, you didn't introduce yourself" and then she said her name. The atmosphere was cold. That was not an appointment there to build rapport and make my mum feel comfortable. We were just another appointment she needed to check off her list. And I stressed that mum was an anxious patient who had had a bad experience before. So she told mum it needed to be extracted she them put the numbing gel for 2 seconds and popped the anesthetic straight in and mum moaned a little. She then mentioned she had to top it up in the upper palate and that it would sting a bit more. I'm tearing up as I write this part because my mum screamed in agony, Lori saw my distress as I got up from my chair, when i saw my mums feet in the air and tears coming down the side of her face as I yelled "stop you're hurting her" but she continued. And I ran out the room, shaking, hyperventilating as the sight of my mum in severe pain, a nurse with just her one gloved hand on mum not uttering a word, and a dentist still administering the anaestetic as my mother howled in pain. I'm left traumatised because a practice with mottos such as: "We make sure you're comfortable and happy at all times" "Our practices are bright, cheerful places with friendly, efficient staff" "Our dentists are skilled, caring and passionate" failed to provide a service that my mum deserved. And to add insult to injury, she takes an x-ray after she put my mum through that agony and then says there's an abscess. Why was that not done before the anaesthetic?! Have you not encountered nervous patients before in the years of practicing? That appointment could have just been a consult where you FIRST took an x-ray and then said something like "I doubt the appointment would be comfortable for you because you have an infection so lets give you antibiotics first and let it reduce and come back another day for the extraction". But No= Lets create another traumatic memory for a nervous patient who is coming to the practice for the first time. If it wasn't for the receptionist "Lidia" (God Bless her) who comforted me, I would have never calmed down. But its almost 8 hours later and I still can't look at my mum without tears filling my eyes because it was "I" who booked the appointment. And therefore, it's "my" fault. A memory I'm struggling to erase. Dr Lori Liao, let this be a reminder that EVERY patient is different. I felt that you're DB dental is about conservation of time rather than care of patients and their emotions. So please revisit your mission statements otherwise this wont be your last bad review.

Negative experience: Went to see Lorrie (not sure on spelling) a few times, she is the female asian dentist there. She treats her clients like an atm machine,she doesn't want to talk to them or spend any time explaining what procedure you are about to or have just had. I have seen this lady multiple times and she has yet to say hello to me once, she has literally never said hello to me. The closest I got was yesterday when she pointed at the seat while looking at her computer and said sit down. The dentist work is fast which is a plus however no thought is put into the patients comfort while she works, she is trying to get you in and out as fast as she can. Cant say much about the quality of work, it is average not a huge problem. Receptionists are very well mannered and a delight to talk to. Im not sure about the other dentist that works there but if you dont want to be treated like dirt at the bottom of someones shoe then give Lorrie a miss
