Fantastic experience: I just had a molar extracted, although I would not have known it. I, myself have been a dental assistant for over 20years and have worked along side some of the best dentists and specialists in a few different states. My lovely compassionate dentist has the most gentle hands and best technique I've seen. I was so nervous and was immediately put at ease by their dental assistant. I honestly didn't feel a thing. BEST DENTIST EVER!

Negative experience: Had been to this dentist a few times and every time was a different person. I made an appointment as I had pain in my mouth. When they inspected I was told it was gum disease and I needed a deep clean. I then find out that this clean was to be done over 2 visits at a cost of over $1200 after rebate from health fund. I paid over $600 that day, for just a clean of half my teeth. The next day I looked into this further and spoke with another dentist who said it should never cost that much. I called Varsity Smiles to discuss the price and when I said I was not prepared to pay that and why, they said that’s fine we will just cancel your next appointment. Obviously don’t care about their patients. Had all files sent to other dental practice. They completed a whole mouth deep clean (not half) for $100 after rebates. Would not ever recommend this place.

The procedure was quick and painless compared to other dentist visits I've had. Their chairs are super comfy and it's great to have a huge tv above you during the treatment as a distraction. Negative experience: Chose this clinic to utilise my dental voucher from QLD Health. Treated like a 2nd class citizen by reception as a result. Receptionist refused to follow-up on my subsequent voucher, and I was informed they "just help out Community Dental" and as such I am not really their client so they refused to even call them and told me I had to do it. Community Dental was stunned when I called them. As a result, I missed the small window during covid when the voucher would have been approved. Waiting since March 2020, now August 2020. Will be requesting a transfer to another dental surgery that treats all clients with respect. Response: Unfortunately, when you claim that the staff went above and beyond, that is not true. When I called, I was informed that Varsity Smiles do not follow-up or call Communinty Dental as Varsity Smiles is only "helping out" and I must wait until they hear from them. The receptionist also stated that she wasn't even sure if QLD Dental was open due to covid and told me to call myself. I did so. I spoke to ****** at Community Dental, who was quite surprised when I explained that I was told to call myself. ****** directed me to call Varsity Smiles back and tell them that they need to call Community Dental, not me. Only then, did the receptionist call Community Dental. Yet when she called to update me, her main goal was to assure I understood that they are simply helping out (yes, repeated again) and that they do not follow up these type of referrals/requests. Later that day, Community Dental called me back and explained that my file had actually been mishandled and was not in the correct place. As such, if I had not followed up myself, my file would have been overlooked for who knows how long. In fact, according to them I could have had my dental work approved prior to July 15th, but since I had called on 20th July, they would not approve it. So in fact, I have missed out on the approval because Varsity Smiles has no system in place to follow up Community Dental requests/approvals. Hope that clarifies the facts. This response has also been sent directly through your website.

Fantastic experience: Visited Dr Mina Khela today to have a full exam and planning. He took the time to listen to my concerns, examined me tooth by tooth and then created a plan to suit my goals. He explained to me about all my options and outcomes after taking extensive photos, charting and planning. I now have confidence in the plan Dr Mina has created for me to reach my dental goals. Highly recommend if you want a dentist who takes genuine care and interest in your health and concerns. Also the team and the vibe at varsity smiles was simply amazing

Dr Khela is an excellent dentist. He took the time to explain every procedure he was doing. For example, when I was getting my splint, Dr. Khela was very supportive, and thorough when explaining the process. He is a professional and has a naturally lovely personality. Fantastic experience: I have had a phobia from Dentists since I was 12. When I mean phobia I mean phobia Hence have never seen a dentist for the last 21 years. Dr Mina Khela and his staff were incredible, very professional and patient he explained everything thoroughly. I had severe pain in one of my tooth, he analysed the issue and gave me the options and explained the best outcome if he was in my position. To show how switched on he is, my phobia was to the noise of the drill as he was working on my teeth. So he got his headphones out and passed them to me and played music so I couldn’t hear anything. Superb would highly recommend him to all my family and friends.

Fantastic experience: I took my children to have their six monthly clean & check up yesterday afternoon. Dr Mina Khela was so amazing with the kids, his gentle & kind way really gels with the kids and he turned what could have been a daunting time for them into a fun and lighthearted experience. Dr Mina noticed that one of my son’s baby teeth had a hole and he could potentially get dental pain in the coming weeks / months during this lock down when you can only go to the Dentist in emergencies. Dr Mina kindly offered to stay late at his practice and remove his tooth, do a filling & clean & fluoride his teeth. All done & I’m so relieved that this dental work is all fixed & my son won’t have any issues while we are unable to access a Dentist during these uncertain times. My teeth and my daughters are all good too now thanks to Dr Mina

Fantastic experience: I had complex crown work done recently. I can’t express how amazing they look and feel. It wasn’t your typical dentist where I sat down and just told what I needed, Dr. Mina done the most comprehensive exam I have ever had. He then went through all the photos and xrays and explained everything. From there he presented me with different options and levels of dentistry, we came up with a plan that worked for me, rather than him just deciding, and he walked me through the plan. He explained everything to me throughout the whole process and always made me feel comfortable, beyond that he is very down to earth and talks and laughs with me. Thank you so much and to your lovely team, the whole vibe of the place was awesome. My perception of dentists has forever changed :)

I have been going to Varsity Smiles for several years and have always been happy with the service - but Dr Mina & Co really take it to a new level. Fantastic experience: Typically I don't care for my teeth and would rather ignore the pain. I've seen a few dentists over the years but wasn't content with the work and service I received. Negative experience: Be prepared to pay for their mistakes! Unfortunately my experience ended badly. I went in without pain for a routine check up and was told I required a filling. After the filling I had continued severe pain and multiple (free) return visits over months in which I was told nothing was wrong. Eventually I was advised that they had damaged the nerve and I would require a root canal costing me $2k+. I could not believe I was expected to pay for damage they had done. All I received was "I'm sorry you weren't advised of the risks." I was devestated.

Fantastic experience: The team here at Varsity Smiles are nothing but professional in every aspect. For someone that didn't like going to the dentist I now no longer have the fear of sitting in that chair. I had to have quite a big procedure done and I felt no pain or discomfort, everything was explained to me before the procedure was done so I was not left in the dark as to what was happening. I will now be using this practice as my new dentist and recommending when I can.

Fantastic experience: Can't speak highly enough of them, was very nervous at my first appointment a couple of months ago, nothing to worry about, dentists & staff made it easy, very friendly and always smiling and positive.

Negative experience: First appointment went fine then was booked in the following week at 9am got here at 8:45 waited till 9:45 no one has shown up opening time is 8am no one has called or returned messages and no refund or apology wouldn’t recommend to anyone
