McCloy Dental (Caboolture)

Negative experience: two splints that didn't fit, one that broke in a couple of months and another one that created bad tmj issues (the likes of which I've not had before).

Fantastic experience: Karen McCloy is an amazingly talented dentist. I discovered Karen when searching for a dentist following the retirement of my dentist at Toowong 5 years ago. He diagnosed my TMJ and cared for my special needs over many years. His efforts in making splints meant that I could continue working as an educational administrator and enjoying a busy life with my family. Karen specialises in addressing the difficult issues of TMJ and Sleep Apnoea. As I have both conditions, I was prepared to travel from Ipswich to Caboolture to attend her practice. It was certainly the right choice. It was at that time my splints were worn and needed replacing. My health was suffering with increased facial pain, headaches, neck and joint pain. My bite was also out of alignment and needed to be corrected. As a result I was not doing well. Karen referred me to the Headache, Neck and Jaw Clinic at Nundah in Brisbane to realign my bite, meaning that the TMJ issues could then be addressed successfully. Once my bite was remedied, Karen was able to build diagnostic splints and begin the process of designing new top and bottom splints which also incorporated false teeth. This process took over a year. Karen also made a night splint which fits over my top plate and is worn nightly to maintain correct alignment. Once the above had been achieved, apart from 6 monthly checks, only the night splint needs to be adjusted from time to time and replaced as needed due to wear. I have found the McCloy Dental Practice to be excellent. The staff are all very professional and welcoming. After each appointment, contact is made the next day to ensure that I am fine. Appointment reminders are sent prior to attendance. I can wholeheartedly recommend McCloy Dental. The 5 star rating is well deserved.

He explains everything from start to finish, very positive experience. Reception ladies FANTASTIC. Dental assistants FANTASTIC. Will be the only dentist i will go to from now on.

Fantastic experience: Not so long ago (2024) I had two very sensitive teeth on both sides which made me very, very, uncomfortable – In fact when eating meat the biting and chewing that goes with steak caused real discomfort so much so that midway through my meal, I would have to stop and take a break ---- it seemed all too much of a burden rather than pleasure and so I stopped having steak. I made an appointment with Dr. James Clish at McCloy Dentist in Caboolture. James did a thorough check and gave me a sensitivity management plan – he did not just suggest costly treatment, but his advice was that I should use de-sensitizing paste and manage with the two sensitive teeth as long as I could. Wonderful advice. After some time one of my sensitive teeth started hurting me so much that I just wanted to visit Dr. James and get the tooth extracted – which I suggested to James. He was alarmed and told me that it does not seem right that I should be in such pain – he did not consent to the extraction but investigated further and found a very small hairline crack in an adjacent tooth, the crack had gone down to the root and made the surrounding teeth hypersensitive. The cracked tooth could not be fixed and had to be extracted, once done my sensitivity issues were gone. I am thankful to Dr. James for the thorough and proper root cause analysis he carried out that saved my tooth and gave me many more years of it’s use! Just recently I went in for a check and clean – again, I found Dr. James Clish so gentle and careful that it made what usually for me is an unpleasant experience a pleasant one. Fantastic experience: My dental journey started in April 2024 with Dr Russell McCloy Dental Surgery Caboolture . My surgical procedure was the placing of implants into my bottom jaw. Prior to procedure all the information and consultation and X rays were attended by DrRussell McCloy . All the follow up appointments were made efficiently and effectively by the receptionists at the McCloy Dental Surgery .

A recent move to McCloy Dental has proved a great choice and I rate their practice very highly. Dr James and his assistant were professional in all aspects of my treatment. I found James's procedural commentary particularly reassuring. The administrative staff were great too.

Fantastic experience: I was in a lot of pain and had previously been to two dentists elsewhere within the last fortnight with no luck and still in pain. I heard about McCloy Dentist in Caboolture and in one visit they had solved the problem. Russell was the dentist who saw me and the nurses were Kerri and Imogen. They were all amazing. Negative experience: It's my opinion after having a reoccurring abscess where back in 2021 I was prescribed antibiotics for it.. Now 2023 I go in for some antibiotics and tell him it's the exact same problem. I said I can't afford any work as I've been off work with a broken collar and ribs I just want antibiotics. I didn't get a say once I layed in the chair he just started drilling the tooth next th the inflamed tooth and proceeded with out my consent. I now have a bit of cloth tucked into a hole where he just drilled the hole.. no new X-rays. To me he basically forced me to get two teeth fixed as soon as possible because apparently the cloth is just temporarily there for Max 3 months which cost me 3 hundred instead of just antibiotics. Money hungry butcher with no morals and now the tooth he drilled won't settle down but the tooth I went in for is healing with the antibiotics. Your a Butcher

But the dentist was calm, professional and made my experience pain free and relaxing.
