Fantastic experience: I just had my first crown fitted after a check up at Southlands Dental with Dr. Emma Finnegan and was super impressed! A lot of care and time was taken to ensure the fit was correct. In fact the first crown received by the lab was rejected by Emma because the fit was not perfect! All the extra work was completed without any additional cost to me, in fact the final price was under what was originally quoted. I would not hesitate to recommend this practice and Dr. Finnegan in particular :)

From the moment you walk in, the space feels more like a day spa than a dental clinic – calm, modern, and beautifully designed to put patients at ease. Emma and the team are incredibly knowledgeable, transparent, and always take the time to explain everything clearly. The staff are genuinely warm and friendly, which makes every visit a positive experience. For anyone looking for a dentist who combines professionalism with true care, this practice is absolutely outstanding.

Negative experience: I came in for a check-up and cleaning, but unfortunately, the service has declined significantly since Dr. Darryl Watkins retired. I used to be a regular patient at this clinic and always trusted the care I received, especially from Dr. Darryl Watkins and hygienist Caroline. This time, however, I was quite disappointed. The new dentist, Dr. T. Seetharam barely examined my teeth — it felt like just a few seconds and very rushed. The hygienist Ah tha Soe did not seem professional; water was dripping all over my face and neck throughout the procedure. It left me questioning the quality of the work done. It’s unfortunate to see a clinic I once trusted so much change like this. I hope they take feedback seriously and work on improving the patient experience.

Fantastic experience: Mark is gentle, friendly, thorough, informative, and considerate of financial situations and patients’ comfort. He even looked up the website of the specialist he recommended, to show me how it looked and how to book online. I happily drive 3 hours for our family to see him.

Fantastic experience: Mark is very genuine. He has a respectful manner in providing ongoing care and treatment options for his patients. He is informative during his consultations ensuring patients understand any procedures that may be necessary (even if anticipated in the future), and bases these on individual's assessments and tailored needs (assisting to consider and balance between treatment timeframes and financial perspectives). He is not one to upsell or recommend any additional or unnecessary treatments, and is very honest regarding his opinion. He will happily refer on to specialists when necessary and keep in touch with them regarding your progress. In my treatment in seeing him over the years, he goes above and beyond, is very understanding of people’s emotions, and in my opinion goes above and beyond through provision of his care as a dental practitioner. He ensures his patients are comfortable, informed of any treatment plans proposed, and are in a financial position to proceed, being transparent regarding what to expect. He will also occasionally tell ‘dad jokes’ he thinks are funny … On a serious note, Thanks Mark! You’re a legend and take the stress away from “going to the dentist”! ☺️

That said, the dental examination kit is state-of-the-art - hassle free - and time saving. Fantastic experience: HIGHLY recommend this dentist. I'm terrified of the dentist, but when you got to go, you got to go. So made an appointment got in that same week. First impression was VERY CLEAN dentist well organised, friendly staff. Met Sue the hygienist who took xrays and cleaned my teeth. She was fantastic! I think she has to be the nicest person on the planet. Just made me so comfortable. Explained everything thoroughly so I knew exactly what to expect. Dr Darryl Watkins did the consult was kind and professional too. Need to go back for more work done, but not anxious about going back at all. If you hate going to the dentist go to THIS PLACE, they'll take care of you.

Fantastic experience: Mark has been my go to dentist for over 20 years. He is very experienced and is quick and efficient. I am one of those who always hated trips to the dentist but he is very friendly and good at providing pain free and stress free dental work. I highly recommend him.

Negative experience: Inexperienced dental hygienist. My wife had been coming here for 10 years and will never come back again after her last appointment back in December 2022. After getting off her braces she went for her first clean and they’ve now exacerbated her black triangles from cleaning too hard during the six monthly checkup. The hygienist had no idea what she was doing and focused too much on the front part of her teeth, and made it bleed considerably. After the appointment the black triangles on the right side of her bottom teeth had increased severely to the point that she is distraught every day she has to look at her teeth. My wife cries every night after brushing her teeth, and is inconsolable because of how it looks. She doesn't want to look at herself in the mirror anymore. And doesn't want to go back to any clinics for any cleaning anymore. It also means each time she eats more food it gets caught in the triangles, meaning she needs to avoid certain foods (e.g. like nuts) that get stuck and make it worse. She spent tens of thousands of dollars to get pretty teeth (from braces) and within six months she is very disappointed in her teeth’s look due to one trip to Southlands Dental. My wife is in the first trimester of pregnancy, it was not until after the appointment that the dental hygienist mentioned that she should not have come for the appointment because the gums get puffy during this time. She should have stopped when my wife told her she was pregnant during the appointment and not continue. She didn’t put my wife’s health and safety first, and continued so the clinic doesn’t lose one appointment. This was incredibly unprofessional, and against the purpose of the services provided. She was a loyal customer to Southlands Dental, and should not have been given someone new to her and with little experience immediately after getting her braces off. We now need to pay for extensive treatment to fix the issues caused by this clinic, as the gum that was removed cannot grow back naturally, which will cost thousands of more dollars to attempt to fix something that does not have many solutions. You either add dental bonding (e.g. bioclear composite) or shaving with further braces work. There is also gum grafting (and pinhole surgery) which is much less effective, very invasive, and painful. What should have been a routine appointment has irrevocably ruined her gum’s look. I wouldn’t recommend going here to anyone that’s recently had braces or is pregnant. She was satisfied with her regular dentist which is why she came for ten years, but this particularly terrible hygienist has made this clinic lose a loyal customer.

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend this clinic to everyone. I came here after a very bad experience at another dental clinic. The dentist Dr. Darryl Watkins was highly efficient in diagnosing my molar tooth issue without even getting an x-ray. He didn't recommend root canal or a crown as my molar was cracked and unrepairable. The charges were reasonable compared to many other dental clinics in Willetton. Both my appointments were urgent and the staff accommodated me to solve my agony at the earliest. Henceforth they will be my preferred dental practice.

Negative experience: went in with a toothache that turned out to be sinusitis and although i was in and out within 10 min, the bill was 199 dollars, fair enough fo the consult and an x ray but they added a scale and clean that i stopped 3 min in as i did not need it and was in pain.. total rippoff
