Fantastic experience: I saw Dr Charlie Kong and his hygienist-Ms Desiree (Desi) Bolado for check-up and cleaning. Both of them were great. I found that Charlie is an exceptional dentist, very professional, skilled, Knowledgeable, meticulous and caring. Charlie actually showed me the X-rays and took time to explain his diagnoses and treatment options clearly and answered all my questions patiently, making me feel like a partner in my own dental care. I trusted him completely. He only recommended the work that is absolutely necessary. His recommendations are definitely in my best long-term interest. Desiree, the dental hygienist, was steady-handed and had a truly gentle touch and constantly checked if I'm comfortable. She had an incredible eye for details and spotted some areas I was missing. Her cleaning was incredibly thorough but still gentle, in removing every bit of plaque and tartar. She also gave me some helpful flossing advice and showed me the techniques I never knew before. I left their office not only with a healthier mouth but also with more knowledge and less anxiety about my next visit. The front desk staff was very friendly and efficient and I felt so comfortable and welcomed. The entire clinic is spotless and well-organized. Its location is so convenient with ample parking spaces nearby. Altogether, the perfect dental care team made me feel cared for, respected and confident in the treatment I received. I would highly recommend the team to anyone who is looking for great dental services and practice.

Fantastic experience: Even though I recently moved to a suburb fairly distant from Zelman Lew (Dental Care Group) I haven't changed dentists, because Zelman is such a fine one: excellent at what he does, and also he makes sure I feel no or very little pain! Furthermore, he has a great dental hygienist, Desiree, who, like Zelman, never hurts me, and an extremely efficient, helpful receptionist, Sheree. I strongly recommend dentist Zelman Lew and the Dental Care Group.

Positive experience: Had my routine checkup and cleaning today with Dr Zelman and the hygienist Desiree. They are both professional and effective. Desiree and the other assistant helped me with the cleaning, Desiree is very clear about what she's going to do by explaining to me every step of the process. She emphasized the importance of flossing. The only thing that I wish they could improve is to explain to me a bit more in details about the total cost of the visit. As I didn't know that applying Floride costs $30 and the "Clinical periodontal analysis and recording" for any new patients (me) also cost $33. They could've told me during the cleaning process. These are the costs that I am not aware of until I made the final payment. Other than that, all is very professional service, and I am satisfied with the end result.

My previous dentist misdiagnosed me the day before my first appointment with Dental Care Group and I presented with a lot of pain and anxiety. From the moment I entered the clinic I noticed a remarkable difference in the experience and have not looked back. Dr Lew determined the appropriate course of treatment and to my relief I was able to keep my tooth with minimal discomfort. Staff are professional and friendly, always ensure you are comfortable. Negative experience: Just leaving another review as my previous one did not show up properly. Long story short Dr Lew was cold and often seemed agitated / impatient. Bedside manner ok, clinic clean enough but here’s the catch: he had made my fillings to high and in order to correct them, I was expected to take time out of my working day, travel to his clinic and then pay for the “consultation”, after which the fillings were still too high and I had to see another more capable dentist. Do yourself a favor and see someone else seriously

Fantastic experience: I recently visited the Dental Care Group after booking online. The dentist who I was treated by was Dr Zelman Lew. On arrival I was greeted in reception and asked to fill out all appropriate paperwork. My appointment was at 10.30 and to my surprise, unlike many medical and like practices I was not kept waiting. I was escorted to the treatment room by Dr Zelman Lew , which I did find quite nice as opposed to the dental nurse or just being directed where to go. Dr Zelman Lew then proceeded to examine my teeth in an extremely professional and caring manner; all the time explaining to me what he was doing and the rationale behind the examination. X rays were taken, as I had not seen a dentist for a number of years. Once the treatment was finished I was asked if I had any questions or concerns after which I was again escorted to reception by Dr Zelman Lew. I was then able to pay and claim my account electronically. Overall I had an extremely pleasant experience at The Dental Care Group; and would highly recommend them to both family and friends.

Negative experience: This is a review on how a phone call asking for a quote was handled by Dr. Lew. My queries were stopped short with his reply saying that there was no point for him giving a quote because their fees are more expensive than other dental practices. I tried to explain that I was not looking to compare his rates with others, but just wanting to know how much the fees were so I know the impact to my budget. (I am one of those who monitor personal finances closely.) Despite this, he just reiterated his message. I ended the call quickly because I didn't want my temper to take over and be rude. I felt utterly disrespected. I am deeply disappointed. He came highly recommended by a friend and I was aware of his pricing position in the market. I was prepared to book an appointment, the last step before that was simply updating my budget. I hope this feedback prevents a similar incident from happening to any of your prospective clients.

Fantastic experience: Zelman booked me in at 730pm for 840pm and discovered an abscess under a back tooth and started the root canal process and had me out of the practice by 930 without the severe toothache I had before. Incredible work. Dextrous, responsive and efficient. Exactly what was needed and did it all himself at such pace. Brilliant work.

Positive experience: I’m one of those people who hasn’t been to the dentist in 15 years and is more scared of this than surgery. Here they were very gentle and made sure it didn’t hurt. They also saw me at the last minute on Christmas Eve when I broke my tooth.

Fantastic experience: When I first saw Zelman, it had been years since I’d seen a dentist, even for a check-up. This is due, in my opinion, to early childhood trauma whereby at around the tender age of six, my mother took me to an evil dentist who took delight in drilling holes in my teeth and filling them with deadly metals – just for sport! All the while telling me it was my fault for eating lollies… If memory serves me right (which, for the purposes of this story, let’s just say it does), when I was six, I had about six fillings in the space of a week! Dr Zelman and his team are a far cry from those brutal days of torture – however, even though I was within the stylish walls of the Dental Care Group’s clinic in Armadale, and lying upon the extremely comfortable, electric, whizz-bang dental chair – alas, the memories of past horrors unfortunately still arose. During my appointment, I jumped and flinched at the approach of a tube, (let alone a needle) and I couldn’t stop the tears from coming. All the team at Dental Care Group were so understanding, kind, and encouraging, and I made another appointment, determined to follow through with their wise dental plan – and to not let that evil dentist from the past, ruin my future chances of great teeth. Which brings us to yesterday. At yesterday’s appointment, something amazing happened… Zelman introduced me to ‘happy gas’. For the first time, I was in a dental chair and smiling! I even chuckled while I was getting a needle. Hell, they could have pulled out a tooth for all I cared. Actually, I can’t quite remember what happened after that – but I do know I left feeling good and with a brand new smooth (not poisonous) filling to boot. I highly recommend Dr Zelman Lew and the team at The Dental Care Group in Armadale to any nervous or anxious dental patient – you know who you are. The Dental Care Group keeps families smiling – and, believe it or not, they’ll get you smiling again too. Thank you, Zelman, for restoring my faith in dentists.

Fantastic experience: Haven’t been to the dentist in a very very long time so I was bracing myself with both the anxiety of the amount of work I would need done on my teeth & the overall cost. Dr Lew and staff have been super helpful in easing my worries about both of these things. My first session (of four) to get both fillings & a clean was an absolute breeze. Fantastic experience: Whilst a visit to the dentist is not something I look forward to, Dr Zelman and his team made the experience as pleasant as possible. I am very happy with the work they performed to remove an old amalgam filling, and the dental hygienist was very thorough. I am happy to say I have found my new dentist!

Negative experience: After money. Work done on all 3 of my children without discussing fees. Today's check up for 3 young children cost our family $911. I made our appoitment for school holidays...last check up was in November..5 months ago... didn't advise us to wait 6 months due to health insurance claims. Extracted by son's tooth and 2 filings for my daughter without discussing cost. Malvern Family Dental extracted my daughter's tooth after hours one night and they put it through on our health insurance but didn't charge us... we'll be going back. Our previous dentists have always looked after us and talked us through about cost and timing. We have moved from Sydney and had a fabulous dentist who was honest and upfront.... would have been cheaper for us to fly our children to Sydney return and had the work done there!! They'll also try and sell you a tongue scraper for $6!!
