Negative experience: Went in for severe nerve pain and all this dentist cared about was money. He wanted $350 just to look at me, $350 for an x ray, $700 to remove the tooth and then pushed a $9,000 treatment plan. On top of that, he even bragged, in a rude dismissive way, that he’d given me a lot of his time. No care, no respect, just business. Wouldn’t recommend.

Fantastic experience: Dr Al truly is the most caring doctor I know. He works so hard and really puts his patients first. He did a great job on my veneers and other orthodontics. He fits me in on such short notice and always does an excellent job! Thank you Dr Al!

He showed great knowledge, experience, and patience, always taking the time to explain all my questions and concerns. Before treatment, I felt very insecure about my poor teeth, but Dr. Al made me feel confident and supported throughout the journey. He was not only professional but also very kind and understanding. Negative experience: I initially hesitated to post this negative review, but given the nature of healthcare I feel an obligation to share my experience for future patients. I would not recommend Dr Al Yousef. After a filling and OPG X-ray, I was referred to an oral surgeon, for reasons that are still not clear to me. When my surgeon’s office requested the scans, he refused to cooperate and I had to return in person. I was required to purchase a new USB (he would not allow me to use my own) and then waited 40 minutes for the files, which ultimately were corrupted and unusable. His communication is very harsh and I was deeply disappointed in the way he conducted himself (very rude and dismissive). Overall, this was an unprofessional and costly experience.

Fantastic experience: I recently had a dental implant done with Dr Al and I can honestly say it was the best dental experience I’ve ever had. From the very first consultation, Dr Al showed such kindness, empathy, and professionalism. He explained everything clearly, answered all my questions with patience, and really made me feel comfortable and confident about the whole process. His level of experience is obvious, and I felt I was truly in safe hands. The clinic itself is modern, clean, and welcoming, which immediately puts you at ease when you walk in. The staff were just as impressive – everyone I dealt with was friendly, supportive, and highly experienced. They went out of their way to make sure I felt cared for at every step, and that personal touch really makes a big difference. The implant procedure itself was smooth and painless, and I was amazed at how easy Dr Al made the entire process feel. His attention to detail and gentle approach really stood out. Recovery was quicker than I expected, and I’m so happy with the results – my smile looks and feels amazing. I couldn’t recommend Dr Al and his wonderful team enough. If you are thinking about getting a dental implant or any dental work done, this is the place to go. You’ll be looked after not just as a patient, but as a person.

Negative experience: PLEASE AVOID. DR AL YOUSEF IS DISHONEST AND A FRADULANT DENTIST. ASK YOURSELF IS IT WORTH THE RISK? SO MANY one-star reviews! DO NOT RISK IT. He charged for services never completed, claiming on my health fund for my son who has dental records with a different dentist. We are PURSUING LEGAL help now. If you have a complaint about him, please report to: Australian Dental Association and seek legal support - DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME TALKING WITH HIM. HE IS A LIER. HE IS INCOMPETENT.

Negative experience: Do NOT go to Dr Al for a dental implant. He kept rescheduling my appointments and damaged my other teeth during the process. He doesn’t have the right experience!! My implant failed. He didn’t take accountability and lacked honesty in resolving the issue over several months. I put complaint with Fair Trade and completed the works with a PROPER dentist with no issue. I should have listened to his patients who were complaining about his lack of professionalism in the waiting room. Find another dentist.

Negative experience: Has taken my money and refusing to return the rest of my money for work that they haven’t done. They owe me over $12,000. Have been waited for over 12 months now for them to complete my all on 6. They are refusing to pass my medical records to the new dentist so he can correct their mistakes and complete the job. Also found recently they have charged my whole family on my health fund when most of my family haven’t even been to their surgery. I am in the process of reporting them to the authority for fraud and proceeding with legal action. I have (proof) messages in writing going back to day 1 which I have passed onto the authorities. Avoid at all costs. I would have given them 0 stars if I could. The worst trauma I have gone through ever at a dentist. The lie, cheat and will do anything to get your money and then leave you stranded. All the 5 star ratings you see here are by force when you’re there. The dentist makes you scan and give them a 5 star rating and makes you feel very uncomfortable if you don’t. Every temporary figure he gives you is the wrong size and I usually find myself using superglue to keep my implants in place, unless they fall out completely when you’re eating food.

Fantastic experience: An excellent Dr with world class customer service. I had severe pain during a Sunday evening. I first called the Hornsby Hospital helpline thinking that would be best, but after running through their checklist of questions, they advised they couldn’t help me. So I called the shop number, and there was no answer, but immediately after Dr Yousef called me back, asked to try Panadol/Nurofen and then call back again in 90min if the pain was still there. Called back and he said he can meet me at the clinic. This was 10:30pm. On a Sunday. I’ve seen him a few times since, my daughter will be getting braces done and I’ll be recommending his services to all my friends and family.

Negative experience: Don't go to this dentist. I am not a stranger to dental work, having had a root canal and several fillings in the past and aware of the process and rough costs normally. Dr Al quoted me way over (said stage one of root canal would cost me $1500 when it only cost me $306 at a well known dentist the next day). He took advantage of the fact I was crying in pain, in the middle of the night and tried to barter the price with me. Even calling my mobile after I left to offer me "another $500 off" after I refused his initial ludicrous price. He still made me pay $280 just for the x-ray. I would hate for some innocent person who isn't familiar with dental work to be taken advantage of. DONT go here!! Edit: I'm adding an edit to this review because I cannot reply to your comments, but you have written and rewritten your reply, changing your story every time over the last 7 months. This is the 4th time you've changed your story. And yet mine stays the same. Someone should hold you accountable for the fact you are taking advantage of people who are in pain or in need.

Fantastic experience: Long review- apologies in advance. I have never had a pleasant dentist experience even as a child. Lots of torn lips, tooth + jaw pain, badly placed fillings, teeth became more sensitive. When I finally started looking at good dental health 5 years ago, it was a difficult journey and my teeth were pretty bad- lots of fillings etc (did not floss as a kid), and had sensitive teeth. I have a phobia of needles, as well as a generally adverse reaction to things touching my teeth. While I was initially a bit intimidated because Dr Al was very passionate about dentistry and it was a lot of work to consider- I'm still in the last stage of the process, he is the best dentist I have had the fortune to meet. He does his best to relax you, and while I'm kind of dramatic (sorry Al) with the needles, he is very patient, and will adapt to you. He has also been very upfront with costs, and has quoted more than reasonable prices (at the very least in Australia). He has even answered my panicked call at 12am kindly when my temporary fell out and reassured me things were ok. He will be frank with you, and give you the best option he can. This is the first time in about 5 years that I am comfortable- no pain, reduced anxiety around teeth overall. I still find it stressful to go to the dentist, but I honestly still commit and go because of Al (and the other dental techs as well). If anyone asks, this clinic would be my recommendation.

Fantastic experience: I had my upper jaw teeth implant done by Dr AL from Beecroft even though I had to travel about 100km from the Central Coast (where I lived) each time I had an appointment to see him. In my lifetime, I had seen many dentists, but Dr AL is different and special. When I first met Dr AL, he generously spent more than an hour thoroughly examining my teeth, had given me clear information about the procedure and subsequently discussed on the pricing. All these were done in a friendly and relaxed environment. My initial main reason for deciding on Dr AL to perform the implant surgery was because I found his price / fees quotation to be very reasonable and competitive, in fact comparatively lower than what other dental surgeons (that I had enquired) would charge. Over a period of several months and dental appointments, my personal experiences with Dr AL were that he is a very responsible, friendly and professionally competent dental surgeon. Dr Al (and dental staff) is meticulous yet patient in his performance. Job done was painless. You can tell that Dr AL really enjoys doing every dental task with care as if he treats his profession as a hobby. I am indeed fortunate to have found Dr AL. Thank you, Dr Al, for giving me the necessary close attention on every dental job you perform and for being such a wonderful person. I will certainly recommend Dr AL to anyone who wants to do implant surgery.

Negative experience: Made appointment from Bali & travelled early the next morning to get to the appointment after a long international flight. Cancelled us when we were on the way to the appointment. Very unprofessional. Said they sent a sms confirmation but knew we were in Bali & travelling home. SMS message never received.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful dentist, as someone petrified of dental work..I went in for an emergency within the hour as I had extreme tooth pain. I figured it was an infection and it would need to be pulled as it was breaking away anyways, it ended up being the biggest worst abscess I’ve had. I thought I could toughen it out a day or two to decide what to do as I was thankfully educated about the negatives of pulling a tooth and not having some form of replacement which no other dentist has told me in the past when removing a couple of teeth, the pain got worse even endone didn’t help, he was beyond helpful and fitted me asap once again. 6 months later I have a lovely new personalised tooth, that will save my other teeth from moving further. I will be doing further work here in future, as a good dentist who cares about his patients and is passionate about his job is a hard to find. I don’t find him anymore expensive than other dentist I’ve been too, I’ve never had to wait long and without his knowledge I would have caused further damage to my existing teeth and bone structure.

Fantastic experience: My husband had a complicated tooth extraction at midday by a different dentist. Later that night the extraction site began bleeding excessively and the stitches came out. I called around many different dental practices none of which answered. Al answered and said we could come into the practice. We arrived after 10:30pm and were there until 12:00pm midnight. Al stopped the bleeding, put new dressing and did new stitches. Al also prescribed anti biotics and provided post treatment advice to help the healing. My husband has since made a full recovery. I am incredibly grateful for Al's assistance that night and for his expertise. I feel lucky we were able to see Al at that time in the night and that he was able to fix the problem, otherwise we would have had to go to hospital. Thank you Al!

Negative experience: I was ever so great full that I could get in to see a dentist as an emergency, as my regular dentist was away on holidays and I was in pain, I was directed towards a fancy opg machine for an X-ray, the dentist looked at the X-ray and told me it was a abscess, and then immediately told me it would be $2000.00 plus a crown. Luckily I couldn’t afford such treatment straight away, so I was charged $200 for an X-ray and that was cheap according to the dentist if I wanted a copy for my dentist it would be a further $150. I went to my dentist a week later. One small X-ray of the tooth in question and a full mouth clean, no abscess I’ve just been grinding. Total cost $180. , I highly recommend thinking twice about visiting this dentist the only thing you’ll be left with is an empty wallet. Please note this dentist didn’t even look into my mouth. & told me it would be about $5000.00. Absolutely disgusted that this goes on. I left it 3 weeks before posting my review as I wanted to make sure my dentist was right and didn’t make a mistake so this is an honest review.I’m not one for leaving reviews but I would hate my fellow neighbors to be treated by this dentist.

Fantastic experience: We ended up consulting with Dr. Ameen (Al) Youssef for my wife’s treatment in a crucial juncture where majority of the dentists in Sydney are hesitant to take up such a complicated root canal and Implant/crown case. I used to be someone who was incredibly fearful of going to the dentist but since I have started working with Dr Al I now look forward to going attending my appointments and finally fixing up my dental issues which I was putting off for years. He saw me for an emergency appointment late at night on a public holiday and was very calm, helpful and friendly - made me feel like I was in good hands during a stressful time. The clinic had a massage chair in the waiting room and also a machine to make crowns on the spot so you don’t have to wear a temporary tooth. Will definitely go back for any future major dental work.

Fantastic experience: I found Dr Al on Xmas day when my tooth broke in half. He saw me immediately and the experience was so great that he is now my regular dentist, and my mum travels half way across sydney to see him too. His work on my extraction, bone graft, implant, crown, and fixed wire retainers has been of very high quality, and he also keeps wonderful emergency hours. Elegant Dental is honestly the best place to come when you're distressed with any dental emergency. As someone living with a severe anxiety disorder I find Dr Al's bedside manner wonderful, calming and friendly. The practice is also very well equipt. The massage chair in the waiting room is my favourite, Al's team have made me lovely cappuccino's while I wait, and his advanced 3d imaging machines even easily found the source of my mums chronic pain- abscesses missed by other dentists. My family and I highly recommend Dr Al and his practice.

Fantastic experience: I first met Dr Al on boxing day I woke up in terrible pain and he was the only dentist I could find open. I ended up spending 9 months going to Dr Al to get on top of my dental issues. I ended up having 2 implants, 3 teeth capped and I had bridge work instead of my plate. Dr Al would have to be the best dentist I have ever seen. He gave me options I didn't even know about and one I didn't think I could have. Fantastic experience: I became a client here because I had a very painful dental problem just before New Year, when no dentist in Sydney was working except Dr Al, who saw me next day and the day after that, and fixed the problem at regular fee when emergency dentists were quoting me $900 minimum. He and his team are very friendly, he's an excellent dentist, and his surgery has excellent technology. He goes to great lengths to explain your situation and propose a future strategy for care, but doesn't insist, or hard sell. I have four dentists within 200 metres of my front door and I drive halfway across Sydney to see him, which I think is a good indication of how highly I recommend the Clinic.

Dr. Ameen is so accomodating and professional, always making sure he informs you completely of all of your options so that you can make an informed decision. I also love the ambiance of the waiting room, it makes me feel like I've come to a day spa! I would definitely recommend Elegant Dental to my friends and family!
