Positive experience: The students were friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, they did a good job. Fees were more or less the same as any other dentist.

Positive experience: only giving 3 stars because both the times I've seen the students here they've been amazing! I'm always happy to be a guinea pig to help them learn and their services have been great (as a student RN I completely get it) my last appointment though was an absolute mess. I made an appointment with one of the students, I got there eager for my appointment and it seemed that the receptionists completely forgot that I had checked in with them upon arrival. I waited like 30 mins past my appointment time to see what was happening, to be told that they forgot i was there??? the receptionist was very rude about it, wouldn't take accountability etc. major shoutout to the other receptionist who interrupted to offer me a heavily discounted appointment the following day, you're a saint I came back the next day, the receptionists were much more friendly and I was seen straight away by one of the students, the students were fantastic and ruled out what was causing my tooth pain straight away (which I've never had answers for in the past), they were very gentle and non-judgemental which was fantastic I will say though, I'm not a huge fan of the older gentleman who seems to be the preceptor for students. I'm not sure of his name but he came in a few times during this appointment to criticise the students, and tried quizzing ME on a bunch of things despite having tubes and the xray thingy in my mouth??? I felt like I was in trouble for not knowing very detailed things lmao. 0/10 for him not maintaing my dignity but 10/10 for the students and their amazing work

Fantastic experience: Best dentist ever. I've been literally to dozens of dentists. Some really good, others not so much. But the level of professionalism and expertise of dr Andrew is just unmatched. I'm defo recommending him to everybody

Negative experience: Do not ever think to come to this place for any dental work. It's cheap for a reason. Pay a real dentist and get it done in a timely manner with much better results. What should take 3 visits drags out to 7 or more.

Negative experience: Today I was attended by students in practice where I let them know that I was going to see my problem with a crown, they did a review of the rest of the mouth and x-rays of it, but they did not take X-rays or review of what I had requested, at the end of the atencion they tell me that they do not do that procedure there that they were not going to check the crown. Unfortunately Dental health is expensive, I feel like I throw away my money that I need to fix my problem, I feel disappointed. I am also an international student.

The booking and wait times are managed easily and the two visits I’ve had so far with Nikhil Mongia have been painless in all senses. I’m told up front about each procedure, the price and any alternative options available to me. It’s a highly personalised and professional service.

Fantastic experience: It was the best experience I have ever had in my life. (I will turn 60 in December). If the students will apply what they learnt here they will be fabulous dentists. Thank you to you teachers for your dedication to teach them the rights attitude not only how to fix our mouth issues but also how to approach the clients, I mean the communication, how to feel them more comfortable, less anxious and although to give them explanations how to improve the way we take care of our teeth. All the best to all the students in their future dentistry adventures. And see other ones in 1 year.

Negative experience: Absolutely disgusting experience at Melbourne Dental Clinic. The front desk Asian lady was extremely rude — instead of helping us or even showing basic respect, she actually told us to “get lost” because we didn’t have a booking. The way she spoke to us felt targeted, and I can’t help but feel it was because we are Muslim. That kind of discriminatory and unprofessional behavior has no place in any workplace, let alone a dental clinic. If this is how they treat people before they even become patients, it speaks volumes about the values of this clinic. Shameful and unacceptable — we will be reporting this behavior formally. Avoid this place at all costs!

Positive experience: Highly rate this place. Yes the majority of care (mainstream and basic) is done by final dental students - who are amazing by the way. They are shadowed by high qualified dentists. The clinic also offers dentist-only provided services. The fees are a good 30% cheaper given students are involved and procedures take longer given it’s a teaching opportunity - however I really like it. The students are professional and love having a chat with them. Will continue to support and attend this service - very under-rated. The only reason is doesn’t get five stars is because the administration staff (despite being friendly) do not understand what services are provided and what days they need to be booked. It’s actually annoying. I would recommend using HotDoc or an alternative electronic service

Fantastic experience: Had such a great experience with the student dentists Jeremy and Kai. Both super friendly, knowledgeable, and skilled. They really took the time to listen to my concerns, asked lots of thoughtful questions, and then double-checked everything with their senior mentor before explaining things back to me so patiently. Their mentor, Dr. Kevin, was amazing too — not only experienced, but also has this calm, reassuring presence that makes you feel you’re in good hands. Plus, he’s genuinely kind and kept encouraging me throughout the tooth extraction. And bonus point — all three of them are good-looking in a professional way and have such a warm vibe! I really love this setup of student dentists working closely with a mentor dentist. It made me feel super cared for throughout the whole experience .

Negative experience: Students were great but the mouthguard I got was way too small and doesn’t even stay on my teeth. An issue with the lab they use to make the mouth guards. Then I had an appointment with the dentist to get it fixed/made better, instead he just made me another appointment. I don’t recommend getting a mouth guard done here.

Fantastic experience: Had my first appointment here and can only say good things. Not sure about these other reviews but the person at reception was extremely nice and the team were even ready early for me. Thank you to Dr Chetty, they explained everything they were going to do and the prices before doing anything. Very professional, kind, and efficient. The student (I assume!) assistant was also lovely and helpful.

Fantastic experience: Very experienced handle serious dental case , I was 3 night fight with myself from my teeth painful. And I decided to do extraction with other clinic and the Dr can’t do extraction for me . Asking me go home with the painful tooth and refer me to other dental clinic. Aslo the clinic them refer is super expensive $1400 just for 1 extraction upper molar tooth . That so crazy. And I found Melbourne dental clinics with dr Kartik kalambi, he was very done the jobs without any painfu the dr cutting my tooth by 3 pic to take them out . I will recommend this clinic to Melbourne people . The price aslo cheap . Why u need to pay more if you can pay less ? They do more excellent jobs than private clinics to suck your money . Same service different name of companies Trust me .

Fantastic experience: Today, I visited the Melbourne Dental Clinic after my family dentist retired, leaving a few issues with my teeth unresolved. Since I live alone in the CBD, I needed to find a new dentist independently. Melbourne Dental Clinic popped up in my Red App feed, and I thought I’d give it a try while also helping out a student dentist in their practice. I arrived a little early but was called in right away by Zunaira Baig, who greeted me with a warm greeting. Her friendliness instantly put me at ease. Zunaira took the time to understand my needs and patiently offered me various treatment options. I decided to have a filling done, even though it was my first time, and she thoroughly explained the procedure and quoted the price upfront before proceeding. The procedure itself was completely pain-free thanks to Zunaira’s gentle touch and attentiveness throughout. In between the treatment, resident dentist Dr. Muzahim Kobat checked in to ensure everything was being done correctly, which added an extra layer of reassurance and made me feel well cared for. What truly stood out was how Zunaira went above and beyond by teaching me the correct way to floss—turns out, I had been doing it wrong all these years! I really appreciated her taking the time to educate me. The payment process was smooth and transparent, hence I felt so comfortable with the experience that I booked a full check-up and cleaning appointment for next week. I wanted to leave this review because this clinic deserves more recognition—not only for delivering excellent dental care but also for educating and nurturing the next generation of dentists, which benefits all of us in the long run. I’m very grateful for the care and service I received and highly recommend Melbourne Dental Clinic for anyone looking for quality dental care with a personal touch.

Fantastic experience: Fabulous service. Yes it takes a little longer but the students and supervising dentists are great. I had been to my private dentist and was quoted thousands. I found the dentists at melb dental to be knowledgeable, practical, thorough and thoughtful. It was AFFORDABLE and they give you a range of honest choices to keep your teeth looking great without trying to price gouge you for pointless extras. Can’t recommend them enough!

Negative experience: New update: The clinic was not opened during June and didn’t let me know while I was waiting to have my crown done. As a result, I lost my chance to use my $500 insurance claims for the last financial year. And tbh, it’s not cheap as it claims. UPDATE: The clinic responded quickly regarding my issue posted below. So I updated my rating. I’m happy things have been resolved in a timely manner. —————————————————————— I was shocked to receive a bill for additional services that I did not agree to. When I questioned the front desk staff about the charges, they were unable to provide any clear information. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of transparency and professionalism displayed by this clinic. Not only was I subjected to unexpected charges, but the staff were unable to provide a satisfactory justification for them. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone due to their questionable billing practices and lack of transparency. It is unacceptable for a healthcare provider to take advantage of their patients in this way.

Negative experience: Would have expected this place to be more afforable

Negative experience: Took a day off work for a filling. I was seen 10 min late from my appointment time, which i was 15 min early for. Appointment ended up being very rushed because apparently they didn't book a long enough appointment. I was advised to come again another day for the filling, but I insisted that it be done that day because I took a day off and made it clear beforehand when I made the appointment online that it was for a filling. Taking leave to come another day wasnt possible for me this time, so I had to insist that the filling be done that day. The dentist was just doing his best so the next patient didn't wait too long for their appointment. Dentist was polite about it and put in a situation due to incorrect time allotment by either reception or their online booking system. Basic check up, xray on the left side and filling was $320 + sore cheek from the rushed job. The haste to finish the appointment so the next patient wpildnt wait to long had me facing a lot of pulling, pinching of the cheek to reach the inner tooth. To be fair, the dentist did warn me it would have to be a rushed job. My advise to anyone reading this, book online and follow up with a call on what you are seeing the doctor for, just to make sure they allocate enough time for the appointment. Ask for a student/trainee instead of a full time dentist. The student/trainee I saw on a previous visit took his time and was supervised well. Me personally, I won't be going back.

Negative experience: Dentist and assistant were very good but receptionist was a bit rude and impatient for me when I told her that they had asked me to send the proof of my child dental benefit through email before an appointment but I still paid over $200 for it and she didn’t show interest to explain me how to claim it. I’ve asked if I can use my health insurance for it she said they didn’t except it so I was a bit confuse with the prices and the way receptionist treated me

Fantastic experience: I had student dentist Mia who was absolutely lovely! I was super anxious as I hadn’t been to the dentist in a few years but she was so kind throughout the whole process it made me feel so much better. Especially during some of the work (which was quite painful) she always checked in with me and never pressured me to continue (always telling me if I needed a break it was ok). She also answered any of my questions and was just overall a joy :)

Fantastic experience: i had a check up and clean with student clinic in MDC April and everything went well until now. the UniMelb student clinician Jade Yuan was very gentle and nice. Her examination and explanation were thorough and patient, also i really appreciate that they have Mandarin’s speaking student dentist. And i really enjoyed the way that she checked with supervisor and the chilling environment that they have. i would recommend to come to MDC and book with student dentist.

Fantastic experience: Everyone has their own opinion but I have had such an amazing and professional experience with this clinic for my daughters braces and now plate/retainer. We travel an hour from home to go here and from the initial consultation to now, everything has been explained in detail and my daughter who is a bit socially awkward feels very comfortable each visit. We plan , when the time is right for our other child to go here for braces. Dr Sophie is beautiful, caring and just so genuine.

Negative experience: I am NOT happy with this business, charged $110 for an x-ray and they wanted 400 for a root canal which I thought was way to expensive. Would give no stars

Positive experience: This is a very good facility and part of the Melb uni teaching program. The business is based on a cost recovery model so you save money. The dentists are all qualified and are supervised by some of the best orthodontists in the country. braces are a big investment and we have been happy so far. No swish interiors and no upselling. Wait times can blow out so be prepared. Just the latest tech and young professionals. Can’t comment on general dental but ortho was fine.

Negative experience: This crazy dental hospital refused treatment for a broken painful back tooth !! Was told it’s not keeping you awake go elsewhere !! Appointment before that I wanted another troublesome tooth removed!! Got excuses why it shouldn’t!! Then when the filling was replaced again !! Was told oh if it still was lays up there won’t be any problem removing the tooth !! Well it’s still playing up !! I wouldn’t recommend this hospital to anyone !! Was told it was a bad place to get teeth fixed !! I should’ve listened !! Been left now with a sore refilled tooth and a broken painful back tooth apparently unimportant and not emergency!! People don’t go there !! And don’t bother ringing about broken teeth if painful you get told go elsewhere !! Disgusting!! Unprofessional!!

Negative experience: Poor experience. First time consulting with general practice for wisdom tooth extraction and introduced me to specialist for surgery after 1 months, then call me to reschedule my surgery time and when I arrived, they said they are busy and cannot do extraction today. Only 5 minutes telling me about the operation and giving me the quotation form, but received me 130 aud consultation fee.

Fantastic experience: I really like and trust this clinic, the best part is that you get a highly qualified dentist for the price of a student. The work is always reviewed by teachers. They are very careful and diligent.

Negative experience: I recently had a broken tooth repaired at this clinic. The dentist did not take care when injecting the anaesthetic and I could feel the liquid at back of my throat, numbing that area, which I did not like. She also pushed the needle too hard into my gum which really hurt. During the treatment, she pinched my lip and inside cheek with equipment. When putting filling material into the tooth, she pushed down very hard. I did not feel pain due to the anaesthetic, however, I sure felt it later. When the anaesthetic wore off, my entire lower gum and jaw hurt for several days. My face was tender and swollen around my lower jaw. Now, 7 days later, my lower gum and my face near the jawline is still a bit swollen, though the pain has thankfully gone. I am not impressed - it cost more than $350 too - and I have decided that I will not return to this dental clinic.

Negative experience: The attendance to appointments is extremely poor. Student dentists and their supervisors need to monitor cancellations, 3 seperate cancellations is bad enough when one drives for nearly 80 minutes and then pays for parking, only to be told its been cancelled yet again. Not happy. Some of us have children to pick up at schools and base the time around that. A complete fail.

Fantastic experience: I have never had such a good dental nurse as Rosie - she was unbelievably terrific! I didn't even know water was being sprayed into my mouth, let alone bits of filling were being ground off. Normally these have washed down my throat or been spat out. None of that! I have been to many dentists, but Rosie and Dr Alanna were truly a dream team.

Negative experience: I wouldn’t recommend this dental clinic. Worst cleaning I’ve had. So messy and careless, not thorough and it was so painful for 48 hours after the cleaning. The trainee had one of my fillings destroyed and come off. I could tell his supervisor not happy with his performance. No apologies offered. I may be an unlucky one, done by a not so good trainee, but I would not go back there again. I won’t trust this clinic, I’m afraid.

Fantastic experience: Had a routine check up with the whole family. We were first checked by students and then again by their supervisors. Everything was friendly, fast and very thorough. They explained all the details and recommendations to us and worked super well with the children. Student forgot once to tell what they would charge for a specific procedure (but replied prompedly when I asked); very transparent otherwise. Will be back!

Negative experience: Booked a routine check up over the phone got quoted around 60 dollar when I went for the check up the person gave me a overpriced clean without telling me which cost 100 dollars and X-rays, got the X-rays refunded but not the clean. You are better off going to a normal dentist, don't know why I ever thought that was a good idea, very painfull compared to a normal clinic(which is somewhat understandable as they are students, but with the price not worth it).

Fantastic experience: Dr Alanna Tanner and her team provided exceptional care for me on Friday. I’ve been afraid to get this tooth extracted, but she explained the process to me and made me feel at ease. The staff was even kind enough to take my crying baby for a walk in the pram while I received the procedure. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: My dentists were very kind, friendly and efficient. They worked well. I highly recommend this dental clinic.

Negative experience: Would rate zero star if I can. The price is very high for the quality of the service and my teeth health condition went worse after the treatment. Whenever those students done wrong they called their supervisors to do the rest part. One normal scaling took 4 appointments to get done. Quality and time all wasted. I then went to another clinic and get everything done in 45 min. Paying a fortune for charity? Then here is the place to go.

Overall awkward and will never come back In addition- student staff put gloved hands on the door handle then put the gloved hands in my mouth. Student staff continued to gossip about their course whilst blood and spit was dripping all down my neck.

Negative experience: My experience having a filling was terrible. The filling took 4 hours with the student yanking on the tooth and jamming his hand in my mouth. About 3 hours in the anaesthetic had worn off. The filling fell out a few months later. The price was only slightly cheaper.

The student I had talked everything through with their supervisor and me. I learnt a lot and it was very interesting. I initially was dubious about going after reading reviews (Dental Hospital put me on to them), however I thought I'd give a student some experience (having been a law school student) knowing how hard this can be to get. I'm going back for more treatment. As for price, I was not expecting a 'cheap service' and not sure how close to market prices I paid. Negative experience: Extremely bad experience with one of the postgraduate dentist in the Endodontic department. Rude and arrogant with no patience to elaborate on their explanation. WILL NOT RERURN FOR TREATMENT NO MATTER HOW GREAT OF A SKILL THE DENTIST HAS.

Positive experience: I had gone in for a root canal treatment with Dr Jack Wang. Right through consultation and the first treatment, he was super friendly, mad eme comfortable, gave me lots of information. I had literally no to little pain post treatment. I am not sure about the quality of treatment since this was the first stage but I was really happy with the way the procedure was done at half the price of a normal dentist.Good work Dr Jack !

Fantastic experience: The dental student I had was very kind, friendly, and made me feel at ease. I had been avoiding the dentist for 6 years and needed 8 fillings in four installments and was comfortable going back each time. Prices are lower since it's a teaching clinic but it may take longer as a supervisor might need to check their work, but I always felt like I was in good hands.

Fantastic experience: This place is well worth your time even tho the wait can be harsh but the quality and price is definitely worth it. I have been there multiple times and it has never let me down except the waiting mainly because there were a lot of people in the clinic. You can sometimes get a student but not all of them can be ignorant or do as they are told but you go there if you want to be more carefully of who you get, if you ring them when you make an appointment ask them to try to get you a proper dentist.

Negative experience: Bad experience! I believe there is a problem with the dentist’s working attitude. My 4 years old boy needed filling, but the dentist, actually a student, refused to give treatment and emphasised that she can’t do it at that time if my boy was not happy with and didn’t enjoy the procedure though my boy didn’t cry and just showed being unhappy and relectant, even if at last I have already persuaded my boy to be cooperative with her. If this is a excuse, I am wondering there is any child in this age group always being happy with or enjoying the dental procedure. I have never known someone who will enjoy dental procedures even an adult. I really can’t accept the excuse from the dentist. Maybe the dentist is not confident to handle a child. You should give me a more reasonable excuse.

Positive experience: My daughter has been coming here for the past 4 years and the service is excellent of course the doctors are superb and very professional. One star less due to administration.

Positive experience: Today I went for a scale and clean and check up. I was seen by a final year student (Sikai) and what a brilliant job she did. Excellent manner, very friendly and thorough job. I felt very well looked after. My appointment lasted for approximately 1.5hrs. If parking at meters, put in min 2hrs. In regards to booking, that was very quick and efficient with waiting times less than 1 week. My total cost was $213 which also included 2 xrays. For a teaching facility I thought the pricing would have been a little less. Would recommend.

Negative experience: I am in the waiting room. I have been here for more than one hour. They knew that doctor would be not available at scheduled time but the did not care to call me and inform me. Doctor is good but reception does not work.

Negative experience: Worst service, you will be waiting atleast half hour before reaching the reception come half hour before appointment

Fantastic experience: I have been going here for 3 years and have had fillings, tooth restoration, X-rays, cleaning and all have been done exceptionally well. The students all have been lovely and courteous. They check you first the call the supervisor and report their diagnosis and treatment plan. The supervisor checks you as well to see if the student is correct or missed anything. Student does work. Supervisor then checks and at times will do some of the work to show the student. I’ve never had to wait more than 5 minutes in the waiting room and costs are very reasonable. Would highly recommend.

Positive experience: Students but well trained and there is a specialist supervising.

Negative experience: The most painful and expensive dental cleaning in my life. After that, I was bleeding for a couple of days. Please double check your receipt, they overcharged me by 140 dollars (for a treatment that I didn't need/get), and after nearly a month fighting to get my money back, I finally got it.

Negative experience: Would you be happy to pay 80 percent more this year for students to stick needles in your gums? Are you willing to SUFFER an unfriendly Supervisor? With thanks for the excellent work done last year.
