Central Brisbane Dental provides all general dental services, coupling a friendly approach with the latest technology. A TV screen is set up so the patient can relax and watch their favourite DVD while treatment is provided. Penthrox gas sedation is available for those who are very nervous. An autoclave is used to sterilise instruments used in all procedures. A digital x-ray system is used to reduce radiation to a minimum. Many procedures can be done using pain-free preventive techniques without the need for an injection. Of course, an injection will be offered where it is required. We believe in continuing education to give our patients the latest information in the dental health field.

Fantastic experience: A massive shout of to my Dentist VINCENT, the dental assistant KAYLA and the lovely, helpful and professional receptionist, ASH. There was space outside for me to park my LARGE mobility scooter, ASH said I could park it where they could keep their eyes on it ~ which I VERY much appreciated. VINCENT is a wonderful combination of professional, thorough and sensitive and if you have any mental, psychical or sensory needs VINCENT will talk you through EVERYTHING that is happening, before it happens, and put you right at the ease. The office is accessible (to the front door) with a small ramp, clean, with adequate seating, quiet and the decor is AWESOME, it is covered in lovely pictures of VINCENT and his family, toys and if you love Star Wars, I highly recommend attending this dentist! Thank-you for ALL your efforts! They is also on GROUPON for an BEYOND excellent price for the services you receive and they continue to offer a substantial discount for returning clients. At the end of the appointment, VINCENT will send you off with a FULL dental goody bag and go through everything he has found and his recommendations, clear and under no pressure to do anything you are not comfortable with. It was the best experience at a dental appointment I have ever had and, I WILL be back! An office full of legends, go and give them a visit! ☺️

Negative experience: This was the worst dental examination that I have experienced so far in my life. From the beginning there was a pattern of incompetence and lack of professionalism. The front desk staff had given the incorrect address which led to me arriving 30 minutes late as I had already arrived at the incorrect address that was provided in the email. Upon arrival I was greeted with subtle insinuations that I was being untruthful until I showed the emails. The dentist herself then mentioned that due to being late I would have to come back another day to complete the other half of the treatment. No apologies were made which speaks to the character of these two staff members. The dentist then proceeded to do a rushed and genuinely subpar cleaning and scaling of my teeth and due to her haphazard approach I was left with severe damage to my gums and tooth enamel which I am still dealing with these effects over a week later. She also did not provide the full treatment that I had already paid for prior to arrival. It was only a clean, scale and polish with fluoride application which is very basic. The dentist even insisted that I had received prior fillings to two of my teeth which I assured her could not be true as I have never had a cavity and have only ever had clean, scale and polish treatments in my life. This behaviour is not normal and I have never been met with such an unprofessional approach from a healthcare provider. The treatment room itself was so disheveled and ill equipped that I genuinely do not believe that they are operating to meet the industry standards. I have never seen such a dilapidated treatment room and I should have trusted my instincts and not continued with the treatment. The overall experience was reminiscent of something that you would expect to occur in a third world country. I must say that I take no pleasure in writing this as it is the only time I have left a review but I strongly feel that the general public should be aware of this experience. Please think twice before making an appointment with these people, it is not worth the risk to your oral health.

Your concerns about the front desk error, the treatment, and the overall care provided are deeply concerning to us, and we take them very seriously so we've taken the time to thoroughly investigate.

We understand the frustration of being misinformed about the address due to a typo in our receptionist's email to you, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience this caused. However, the email was also signed off with the correct address. The Groupon which you used for the appointment also clearly shows the practice address and has a map of our location. 

Upon your arrival, which was 30 minutes late to a 1 hour appointment, we informed you that we may only be able to complete the examination and x-rays, with the rest of the treatment possibly needing to be rescheduled to ensure we could give you the thorough care you deserve without rushing. All new patients are politely reminded to arrive at least 10 minutes before their appointment to fill out a new patient form so we have all the necessary information to treat them comprehensively. Despite these time constraints and your claim otherwise, we still managed to provide every treatment included in the Groupon (a full examination, x-rays, cleaning, prophylaxis, and fluoride treatment) at the same appointment by using up our lunchtime for you.

Regarding your dental history, we attempted to clarify that the areas we discussed were “fissure sealants,” not fillings. We also tried to show these areas to you in the mirror to ensure you understood. We apologise if there was any confusion during this exchange, as we strive to make sure our patients are well-informed about their oral condition.

We also discussed that, due to the poor condition of your oral health, the cleaning might cause some discomfort, which is why we provided post-operative instructions explaining that tenderness and tooth sensitivity could occur. We hope you’ve been following those instructions to minimise any discomfort, and we’re sorry to hear that you’ve experienced ongoing sensitivity.  However, it had only been 4 days after your appointment at the time of your review not more than 1 week as you claim, and teeth and gums need more time to heal, generally 2 weeks.

While we acknowledge your concerns about the appearance of our practice, it is located in an old heritage-listed building with little we can do with the appearance. We want to assure you that we adhere strictly to Australian Dental Association standards. All of our equipment and facilities are regularly checked and maintained to ensure we meet or exceed regulatory guidelines.

We would appreciate the opportunity to address your experience more personally rather than through a review platform. Please feel free to reach out to us to discuss further or to arrange a follow-up appointment.

Negative experience: I just left, and they treated me terribly. I booked through Groupon for a cleaning and a filling three weeks in advance. I spoke to the receptionist three times before the appointment. Today, I arrived, and she told me I couldn’t use Groupon more than once (I used it last year), that I should contact Groupon for a refund, and that if I wanted the appointment, I’d have to pay $99. She was very rude, snatched the form out of my hand, and was sitting on a chair with no willingness to help at all, saying there was nothing she could do. I’ve been told this has happened to many other customers as well. I told them that if it’s not the first time, they should find a solution to avoid wasting people’s time and money. Terrible reception management. ANSWER: If you are insinuating that I provided false information, please withdraw that accusation, as it says a lot about your organization. If you lack the ability to properly take down a phone number—considering I believe I did not invent my name and surname, which should appear in your system—that is not my problem. The receptionist lacks professionalism, and at no point was I offered cleaning, X-rays, and a filling for $99—only cleaning at that price. Another receptionist mentioned that this issue tends to happen often. I encourage you to find a solution and stop wasting people’s time and money. Kind regards.

Hi Sofia, we are sorry you feel this way. However, you were told at your first appointment that you could only use this Groupon once as it is for new patients. We verbally told you the cost of returning for a checkup and teeth cleaning and fillings and provided you with a printed treatment plan with quoted prices. The Groupon terms and conditions also state clearly it is for new patients only. You were obviously happy with us because you wanted to come back. You booked this appointment under different contact details. When you came in and filled out our new patient form, our system detected you had been to see us before. Our receptionist explained again you are not eligible for the Groupon, but offered you the discounted $99 deal instead (normally $234). This does not happen often, but there are always people who try to cheat the system, waste our time and prevent others getting looked after in that appointment time.

Hi Tony, we're sorry you feel this way but it's disappointing you wrote this review after our receptionist explained to you clearly over the phone and in person the terms and conditions of your Groupon. As it states in the Groupon wriiten terms and conditions as well, the Groupon is for new patients only and cannot be used again for the same person. You and your wife had already used a Groupon each so are not eligible for this deal again. You both were obviously happy with us as you came back for another appointment after your first one with us and wanted to come back again this time. We offered you a discounted returning patient offer as good will but you declined.

Fantastic experience: Excellent dentist here on Queen Street. Been here a few times but straight away the standard checks are great (gum checks, x-ray, etc), IDs any issues, and flexible to see me the same day after some minor damage. Fantastic experience: I started going here after many years of not going to a dentist regularly. Not only do I feel at ease, every step of the way is explained and I don't feel like procedures are forced upon you. I had the last dentist tell me I must have my wisdom teeth out cause they were rotting but Vincent assured me there was no reason for removal and that preventive steps and cleaning would suffice. I now go every 6 months without fail

Positive experience: The practice uses Groupon to lure customers in, but then charges far more than what the Groupon value is. Before buying the Groupon voucher, I rang to the practice to enquire about the deal. The receptionist said we can book you for the same price as Groupon so you don't have to buy through Groupon. The filling mentioned in Groupon is for a small filling, expect to pay upto $200 extra depending on the size of your filling. I have reported them to Groupon.

We are sorry for the confusion, but as with all Groupons or any promotions in general there are always specific terms and conditions of the deal. As stated clearly in the Groupon fine print section of the deal, only small 1 surface fillings are included in the deal and if a larger filling is required, there will be a surcharge and this advised and the patient agrees before we proceed. Very large fillings may involve up to 5 surfaces of the tooth and of course will cost proportionately more, but the overall cost is still much less than the usual prices for fillings. When you enquired about the deal over the phone, our receptionist explained this clearly to you. Because you were unsure of which deal to purchase, our receptionist offered to book you in for the most basic deal without any fillings initially. At your appointment after the initial examination you were to be told which Groupon best applies to your case and if any surcharges are required before you purchased the appropriate Groupon or proceeded with the treatment.

Fantastic experience: My first visit to this dental practice since 4 years I lived in the city, It was a best choice I made so far, and kept wondering, how I missed this place before. Positive experience: Overall, happy with the experience and result. However I was under the impression the cleaning would've been $79. Once I handed over my private health insurance the charges increased significantly without prior warning. It was only upon receipt I was able to see the charges and query them. This resulted in drawing down my dental allowance by much more than I anticipated. If I knew the true charges I would've opted out of some of the services.

Hi Stephen, we apologise for the confusion. As explained to you at your appointment, we have several new patient promotions. You initially wanted the $79 Groupon discounted teeth cleaning deal. When you presented with your health fund, we told you we also had another promotion for patients with health funds. You get the dental checkup, x-rays and teeth cleaning for health fund rebate only, no out-of-pocket gap payment. You decided to proceed with the health fund deal instead. They are 2 separate promotions. We cannot control what your health fund rebate is as that is what you agreed with your health fund when you joined them. Most health funds provide cover for 2 dental checkup, x-rays and teeth cleaning appointments each year and have a separate annual limit for other services such as fillings, so you should not need to worry about using too much of your coverage.

Fantastic experience: One of the best dental experiences I have had. I've been to a few, and all i can say is rubbish thru and thru. And then my daughter recommended that i give this one a try. I felt so at home the minute I walked into the clinic. Staff are so friendly. Dr Vincent was exceptionally good with the explanation and the work on my tooth. Most importantly, he was genuinely trying to help and resolve the issue on hand. He even found the screw up from my previous dentist. He offered suggestions and what to do next. He wasn't pushy about it. And i get to decide what i wanna do next. I arrived with excruciating pain, and I walked out a happy girl. Great service and reasonably priced. You need a good dentist, this is where you'll find one.

Fantastic experience: Dr.Allen was very kind and professional. I have had a pain in one of my left teeths and many of Australian dentals recommend me to do root canal treatment, but I still wanted to keep my teeth and they were not allow me to only filling, but Dr. Allen never push me to do extra cares such as root canal treatment or implant. He suggested take the x-rays and explained me everything very kindly, all procedures are very careful and professional. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: The best and honest Dentist I have ever met. His dental team are really lovely as well. I haven't been able to smile in any photos or have always been self-conscious talking to people. Now, after my composit veneers were done today at an amazing price! Fantastic experience: If you haven't been there before and you have no health insurance, grab the Groupon! Best advice and all the staff have a personality and sense of humour. Delightful receptionists/dental assistants Michaela and Natalie. Even Vince and Allan are personable despite the obvious drawback of being dentists! Everyone's as scrupulously honest as the surgery is clean. They'll do their best to make you comfortable. I've been going to the dentist in SE Asia forever but have been converted. If you get a check-up every six months as I heard you should, the Groupon price continues. What more could you ask for in a dentist's? Trust me, I'm a cynic.

Fantastic experience: Super happy with my whole experience! Fantastic experience: I've been seeing Vincent Wan for a number of years for various treatments. I have issues that he deals with cheerfully and without any sign of impatience. The costs for a dentist located in the CBD are more than reasonable and no treatment is ever undertaken without a thorough explanation and costings first. I never feel I'm pressured into anything and always feel I have space to go at my own pace. Over all from entering the door to when I leave its a pleasant, stress free experience. I cannot recommend the team highly enough.

Negative experience: If you want to get a teeth cleaning with Groupon, don't choose this dentist. Reception and customer service was awful, dentist was okay. After only 2 weeks I've got my teeth cleaning, my teeth were stained, like black stained. Something I've never had before. I call them back to get a check up and I've got nothing but blame on my self. The dentist blamed it on the diet, toothpaste, teeth brushing and not even acknowledged the problem Ive get after he cleaned my teeth. I said how we could fix it and he said that I had to do an other teeth cleaning at the full price. That's ridiculous

Hi Chiara, we are sorry you feel this way but we have tried our best to help you. You were happy with everything including your teeth cleaning result at your initial appointment. When you called about your staining coming back, we organised a review appointment quickly for you at no charge even though your problem did not appear directly related to our treatment given the time since your treatment. The dentist was just trying to explain to you the reasons for teeth staining and how the staining could be prevented and removed. As the staining was caused by yourself after the initial treatment and not left behind by us, it is only fair that you pay for its removal yourself.

Fantastic experience: Great value for money. The cleaning was thorough but not painful (some dentists have a heavy hand, not Dr Alan) and also got a quick X-ray check, polishing, fluoride and small basic freebies are always a nice touch. Will be back in 6 months definitely!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Alan was a good dentist, very happy with the work he did and he applied Groupon discounts for the additional fillings required. I did not get a good experience with his brother Dr.Vincent after few months. he was busy upselling and quoted much higher price for the same job for my family member. I would recommend anyone to see Alan if you are going there.

Positive experience: I got a Groupon voucher to get a dental exam and cleaning. After a very thorough clean they advised me to get one little filling, that I decided to proceed. The procedure was painless and quick. The doctor was quite professional and even after finishing he realised that there was an area that could be improved and redid it. I am very satisfied with the results. The rest of the staff, however, was careless to the point of being almost rude, not welcoming at all, and have zero idea of customer service. Just a quick advice. Dentists can be a very scary and traumatic place for some. Seeing a happy and welcoming face when you get into the place, specially for your first appointment, can change your perception and overall experience. (Visited 6/01/21)

Fantastic experience: The Groupon rate voucher is so reasonable for the professional service I received. Dr Allen was excellent, thorough and provided great advices for dental care. He also let me just pay the additional cost for the 2fillings as if I had bought it at Groupon. And an extra discount for returning client for my next dental cleaning!!! Winning. Negative experience: Worst experience at a dental clinic ever. Honestly, I'm very surprised at the reviews of this place--either I was super unlucky or they're fake. The clinic smells like old, left-over, greasy and over-buttered popcorn. Kinda like an uncleaned movie theater at the end of the day of a new blockbuster movie. The staff and dentist were inattentive/uncaring, and the dentist was clumsy and seemed super stressed out. As an example, at the end of the consultation, the dentist told me to wait in the waiting room but his tool tray was still over me, preventing me from going anywhere. Just one of many examples. The dentist did not even bother to discuss any of the issues / answers I wrote on the new patient questionnaire. The worst was that the staff made me hang my bag on this old rusty clothe hanger which the dentist proceeded to knock off and shattered the screen of my phone. Only good thing I can say is that the dentist seemed like a friendly dude. Edit: so the owner replied to my review and it's very sad that he felt the need to lie and blame me instead of taking responsibility: - I did contact them - this review was posted 2 days after my appointment - I did talk to their dentist but as he called me in the middle of me eating lunch I told him to call back - I never had a problem with my previous dentist or any medical professional before (this is the first time...) - I did not go to them for a second opinion - list goes on. Also, after talking on the phone they offered to refund me the visit fee in exchange for removing my review...

We are sorry that we have made you feel this way, Rafael. When you complained through Facebook, the owner and practice manager tried to help you, but you did not respond. The dentist that saw you even personally called you to discuss your issues, but you did not want to talk to him. You decided to write this review instead. We have no control over what people write about us here - everything is real and unfiltered. In response to your comments, our practice may be old as it is located in a heritage building, but it certainly is not unclean. We follow strict infection control guidelines from the Australian Dental Association and have added extra measures due to COVID-19. We apologise if you do not appreciate the smell of the hand sanitiser and cleaning agents. For hygiene reasons, we cannot allow you to place your belongings anywhere and contaminate clean areas in the surgery. We apologise for being clumsy and bumping your bag, but this is the first time we have heard from you about your phone's screen. We apologise for being slow to move the tool tray away to allow you to exit and not being attentive in this regard, but we are definitely not uncaring. It is not surprising that you feel that we did not address all your issues including those asked of you on our new patient form. You came to us for a second opinion because you also had issues with your previous dentist, but would not let us do the proper investigations such as x-rays to give you a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. It was explained to you that there are limitations on what we can help you with without these investigations.
In response to your edit of this review: When you finally let us discuss your complaint, we offered to refund you the appointment fee as goodwill as you were unhappy with your experience. You demanded that we pay you the appointment fee + $300 in exchange for removing this review and not complaining to a higher authority. We obviously did not do so.

Negative experience: I used the groupon service and was more than disappointed with the outcome. My consult price was way over what it should have been with a story of how they are not 'basic fillings'. Then after the anesthetic wore off I could feel the roughness of the work done. I returned to the clinic only to be looked at by the original dentists brother who had nothing to do with the work done to me. He gave me the run around and offered me nothing in return. I have since seen a FAR more professional dental clinic who assure me that the work done was sub standard. This has cost me quite a bit of money to rectify which I obviously had to save and I am considering legal action to recoup my money spent at Brisbane Central Dental. VERY VERY unsatisfied. Only giving one star because I have to in order to write a review.

We are sorry that you were disappointed with your experience at our dental practice. However, the terms and conditions of the Groupon deal you used are stated clearly on their website and these were discussed with you again at your initial appointment. Only small fillings covering one surface of the tooth were included in the Groupon deal you used, with a surcharge required for anything else which was discussed with you and you accepted before proceeding. When you called to say you had a problem after the treatment, the dentist you saw was away, but we offered to get you in with another dentist for a no-charge review appointment so you would be seen quickly. You came 30 minutes late to the appointment, but we still saw you to help with your problem. When you complained you didn't get to see the dentist who you first saw, that dentist called you to discuss your problem straight away after he was back at the practice and you were booked in for another no-charge review appointment with him. You rescheduled this appointment once and did not show up the second time.

Fantastic experience: Went in for a groupon deal and I must say they were professional, gentle and good in customer service. It has been forever since I had a check up because my last few dentist visits at a different clinic was quite expensive, painful and overall not good but here was very nice and I will come back for sure for my next check up. They were timely, respectful and overall excellent experience. I got a good deal for a filling that I needed too. Also my gums didnt bleed which was a blessing haha

Fantastic experience: Really great service. I have been coming here the last few years and find their prices really good and their service. I find the dentists really nice, non judgemental and make you feel comfortable and at ease. I love the decor of the dentist as it is a bit of fun and doesnt feel like a stuffy old dentist office. Negative experience: Upon first visit, spent over $500 then told I needed 10 more fillings. I could not believe the expense and did not want to fill so many teeth as to preserve my natural teeth as much as possible, so I got a second opinion. The second dentist advised I needed to watch some areas and that one more filling only would be required. 2 years later and I still have not had to have further treatment. Thank goodness for that second opinion!

We can't seem to find you in our system, Shelly. You must have the wrong dental practice. You did say it's been 2 years since your visit. We only recommend dental treatment that is necessary, with treatment plans supported by clinical and radiographic evidence. It is uncommon for someone to need so many fillings so we went back into our database to try and find a patient that fits your description but couldn't find a match.

Fantastic experience: Vincent is a wonderful and honest dentist. He is all about the patient and made me feel at ease the entire time. He explained the state of my teeth and gums through the X-rays, how what I have/have not done is why my teeth are in this state, he explained options and preventative steps to be taken. Negative experience: Explained I only had my hour lunch break to go left me sitting there for the whole hour kept telling me 5 mins and I ended up having to go back to work after wasting my whole hour lunch break without being seen, dirty looking waiting room, rude receptionist.

As we did already in person and via email, we sincerely apologise again for running behind schedule. We usually run on time. However, as we tried to explain, we were running behind time as a patient before you had a serious dental emergency and needed immediate treatment. It is unfortunate that you decided not to wait as your appointment was for 45 minutes and even though the dentist was behind by 15 minutes, there was still 30 minutes remaining before you said you had to return to work. We understand that you may have been anxious of being late back to work and been frustrated at our receptionist who was trying to explain the situation.
As for our waiting room, our dental practice may seem old as it has been established a long time and is situated in a heritage-listed building, but we can assure you that it is certainly not dirty. We take cleanliness and infection control in healthcare very seriously and abide by the Australian Dental Association guidelines on infection control.

Positive experience: I bought a package deal from Groupon and Dr Vincent was patient in explaining the procedures that will be done and separately, what I needed. He was also kind to compare the Groupon rates against my private insurance deal to ensure that I have the best deal. He then gave me a discount for what I had to pay out of pocket. A generous man and an equally thorough and efficient dentist. Recommended :)

Fantastic experience: The best dentist I've been to hands down. From the moment I walked in and met him, he was so thorough, detailed and kind with his explaining of the dental issues I was having and what I was doing right. Fantastic experience: I went to see Dr Vincent Wan for the first time today. He was so kind and professional and balanced that with care and complete honesty. I have never been to a dentist before where I can honestly say Dr Wan will be the only one to touch my teeth! He patiently answered all my questions regarding cosmetic dentistry and gave me clear and honest answers. He even gave me an option I never knew existed. I never at all felt he was trying to do more than was necessary. When it came time to clean my teeth, he didn't go "guns blazing" he was so gentle, considering I have a very very sensitive tooth, I never felt any pain! Fantastic experience: Dr Vincent Wan has been my dentist for the past 8 years. I find him to be a very competent dentist with a focus on quality. He is always thorough in his examination and is very capable of explaining oral health in layman terms. His clinic is clean and he uses great dental technology to facilitate with his dental treatments. He is also great with my two young children. I highly recommend him. I don't dread going to the dentist when I know I'm heading to Central Brisbane Dental because I am confident they are going to take great care of me and my teeth.

Negative experience: This comment is about the customer service, rather than the actual dental treatment itself (which I can't testify to because we didn't get that far). My wife had an appointment this morning at 8:30am. My wife rang at 8:25am as a courtesy to advise that she was running 5 minutes late due to underestimating the journey time (she broke her foot last week and is still coming to terms with the timeframes for travelling on crutches from Central train station to her place of work and other local services). She included this information in her courtesy call, and was advised in an infriendly tone that due to her being late, her session would need to be rescheduled. The dental clinic was quite quick to point out that they are very, very busy, and are unable to facilitate little hiccups in their timeframes. We appreciate that prompt arrivals are preferred (being business owners ourselves), but surely exceptions can be made in these sorts of circumstances, particularly given the effort and time it took my wife to get close by in the first place? Indeed, my wife did the right thing in ringing ahead. Anyway, just thought this information deserved to be published in case anybody else was considering using a CBD dental clinic with some customer service and compassion.

We are sorry to hear you feel that way about your experience with us. Understanding that sometimes things happen that we have no control over such as traffic jams and public transport delays, we give a leniency when it comes to being exactly on time. Our policy is that we call patients if they are more than 5 minutes late to an appointment, simply to see if they are on their way and still attending their appointment. If the patient is nearly at the practice we are more than happy to facilitate the little hiccup in time, but if a patient is running very late (will arrive 15 minutes late or more for a 30 minute appointment) it is best to reschedule the appointment so we have enough time to give the proper care and attention that patient needs. We appreciate patients calling us themselves to tell us that they will be late to their appointment but it is also very unfair to all the patients with appointments booked in after a patient who is running late. All new patients are politely reminded to come at least 10 minutes before their appointment to fill out a medical history form so we have all the information to comprehensively treat the patient and we endeavour to ring patients if for some unforeseen reason we are running over time ourselves. As can be understood, there are some exceptional circumstances such as a patient with a dental emergency like a severe toothache that needs immediate treatment that may cause small disruptions in appointment times.
