Negative experience: Horrible experience! Broke a tooth in half on Wed night. Went to the dentist I have extreme diagnosed PTSD and seeing a dentist is hard for me and explained triggers. The tooth was removed and was told a small piece of bone was left behind to which I said I’d had that previously and understood. I asked for antibiotics as I know my body and explained my immune system was low at the moment. This was refused. I was in pain on Saturday and felt this may have been from grinding my teeth and called and was booked in for Monday. On Monday I was informed that surprise surprise I had an infection and open sockets. I asked for them to be stitched shut and to remove the bone that was sticking out so far it was cutting my tongue to which was refused and packed and given strong pain meds. The packing lasted at most an hour and I followed the instructions not to eat and how to clean. By Wednesday I was back in the dentist in much pain again. I once again asked for the bone to be removed and the now really inflamed dry sockets where causing a lot of pain a week after initial tooth removal. She refused to respect my wishes and sanded down the bone a little (is still cutting my tongue) and packed it with the stuff that lasted a hour last time. I explained I have major exams coming up and have been unable to study due to the pain and cannot defer my exams any further. She once again gave me only a small amount of strong pain meds and sent me off. I am now a week and a half since the tooth removal and in constant pain from the dry socket and the piece of bone sticking out. I absolutely refuse to go back and be gaslit into thinking the treatment is satisfactory and my treatment is ok. I ended up going to my GP to deal with the intense pain from the dry socket and have had to be put back on anxiety meds due to the triggers in PTSD this has caused. I clearly explained the events that caused my PTSD (I’m not one of these people who think a stubbed toe causes PTSD) If you want to be treated like someone who doesn’t know your own body and doesn’t understand the ramifications of treatment, then go ahead. I explained I understood what I was to expect if I went with the treatment option I wanted but was not allowed to make a decision about my own body. I’d rather have a one off major event which resulting in swelling and pain than ongoing constant pain for now over a week and a half. I refuse to go back for treatment at any dentist now as the consequences on my mental health now are far more severe if the dentist had actually listened to someone who knows their body. Just seems they wanted to drag out treatment and claim extra money from my health fund. It’s disgusting to minimally treat someone leaving them in pain for over a week and a half

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming to Secret Harbour Dental for several years and have never had a negative experience. Had a root canal procedure today, my first. Not the most comfortable experience I’ve ever had, but Dr Zita explained every step before she commenced which made things much easier knowing what to expect. Caroline at reception was friendly and cheerful and is a great asset to the practice. I would highly recommend Secret Harbour Dental to anyone looking for a new dentist.

Negative experience: This morning, I tried to attend my initial appointment to only leave without being seen to. After all the booking processes, the phone call to send through new client forms to fill, the confirmation of appointment after the form submission and then the text confirmation of my appointment time sent ahead of my appointment - I would arrive to my early on this day to an empty reception and 1 person waiting at the couch. I waited a moment before ringing the bell to be attended to at the reception by a staff member who would comment “that’s odd” when she said I have here 8.50am in answer to my 8.40am mention at the desk. I confirmed I have the text giving me 8.40am and she left me with that to happily wait. 8.50am would come and go, and then another client came through for her 9am appointment, would sit for a moment before walking on through to be seen. I had an offer of music around 9.10am for the reception area and me to liven things up a bit, then a double checking of my appointment to then tell me 40 mins later that my dentist wasn’t going to be in until after 11. I was offered other dentists to possibly see me, to apologies that they were full up too and then offers of other times through the day or the next but as I am FIFO and have many other commitments on, as do we all in the end I had to organise another appointment for another week. And though Carol at the front desk was the loveliest thing about SHD for me this morning, it does leave a bad taste in the mouth with the above as my first experience.

I was very nervous about visiting a dentist since it had been a while, but just the waiting room itself calmed my nerves. The staff are a such heart-warming individuals too from the receptionists to the dental assistant and the dentist themselves. Don’t waste your time with all these gimmicky teeth whitening companies advertised on social media and get it done properly and professionally by a dentist - very natural and long lasting results! Also best Botox results I’ve ever had!!!

Negative experience: Highly not recommended. Unprofessional staff and the prices are exaggerated. Fyi.. $180 for just taking a photo and showing you whats hurting, which i could have done with my smartphone. My booking was for a wisdom tooth removal, after paying the consultation fees, thats when they tell you that they cannot book you untip a week's time. Total rubbish.

From the front counter service to the dentists explanation and fix, problem is now solved with no daily pain I was experiencing prior. All staff I encountered very friendly and helpful.
