Fantastic experience: I had the need of a Dentist urgently over the weekend. I broke a tooth on Friday night. Saturday it was fixed. I found the dentist with the help of Google. The service I received was exceptional. Dr Sheikha Singh-Khaira took the time to explain the process. All staff were friendly and professional. Negative experience: Had a filling done here by a female dentist which I think was unnecessary. 2 weeks later the same tooth cracked & resulted in an abscess. The pain was unimaginable, dentist unsympathetic. Charged for a filling, then charged for a tooth extraction all within a 3 week timespan. If I never got the filling this would of NEVER happened. If I never got the filling, the tooth never would have had an abscess. However upon another visit and follow up I saw a male dentist, professional and understanding with no time or money wasting. Never returning.

Unfortunately, cracked teeth tend to unpredictable as to when they eventually break.
Fillings will generally improve the strength of the cracked teeth.

Negative experience: I made an appointment through the website on Sunday and called that morning to confirm everything was set. They offered me an earlier time, 30-45 minutes ahead of my original appointment, which I accepted, and they confirmed it. After waiting two hours for the confirmation, I arrived at the clinic, only to find it CLOSED. The lights were off, and the sign said "closed." I waited outside for 45 minutes and called multiple times, leaving voicemail messages, but received no response. I understand it was Sunday morning and, given it's close to Christmas, the receptionist might not have been around. However, if that was the case, they should have communicated that when I called earlier in the day. They could have simply said, "There’s no receptionist on Sunday, the door may be locked, so please call when you arrive." At the very least, someone should have called me back an hour after my scheduled appointment to explain the situation and apologize. This is incredibly unprofessional and shows a complete lack of respect for patients' time. Very disappointing experience.

Negative experience: Very disappointed on my last visit - had my appointment - when paying - I questioned the services being billed . I totally disagree with what services were provided. For some reason the scale and clean became a cosmetic process unable to claim anything back from my health fund- No discussion regarding this treatment. I had been a client for a number of years - I’d certainly will never use again have no trust in them .

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend Dr. Sheikha Singh. Previously, we went to another general dentist who advised to my son that the cavity filling would not work and he was not able to provide any treatment or better solution rather than taking teeth out. Luckily, we booked with Dr.Sheikha Singh quickly, and she was very helpful and did best effort to fill the cavity out effectively. She seems to have a multi-year experience, cares her patients and thrilled to offer the best solution. Additionally, easy booking without long wait, affordable and most importantly at good hands.

Negative experience: My husband was in a lot of pain on Saturday and we called to make an emergency appointment for the next day (Sunday). We made an appointment for the next morning and just before the appointment we received the message canceling it under the excuse that “they were seeing other patients”. I tried calling to understand better and they didn't even answer me anymore. I thought they didn't consider a patient in a lot of pain. They could have at least called, trying to fit my husband into another schedule.

Negative experience: I loved this dentist, until I made an appointment that was not taken correctly, being a worker and single parent, organising appointments is a juggling act. For a very important procedure , was offered an insincere apology, and absolutely no understanding. I feel like these guys only care about money and not the individual. A shame because I formerly wouldn't go anywhere else. Because of this missed appointment, 2 months later I am still organising a free day to get this procedure done.

Negative experience: I arrived on time for my appointment then ended up waiting for 20min in total silence and decided to leave. For the fees dentists are charging these days I expect at least a receptionist to be present and communicate with the patient if there is a delay in a kind and professional manner. Just leaving your patient to sit in silence with no explanation is simply not good enough I'm afraid. I'll go elsewhere. I can't reply to the comment below so I'll just edit. Yes I arrived early as I correctly predicted that I'll need to fill out a form as a new patient. I respect your time and I appreciate my time being respected as well. I left at 13:15 not 13:10, as I give 15min max especially when I'm left to sit in total silence with no explanation. Of course I wasn't charged as I wasn't seen but as I said, the current dental fees are extremely high and I expect high standard service from the moment I walk in, rightfully so. Thanks.

Unfortunately before Christmas and New Years dentists are quite overbooked and finding appointments to fit emergency patients is very difficult. Our dentist was seeing to another patient in the other surgery room with her assistant and was unable to see you on time, with the other assistant being in her lunch break.
You arrived early for your appointment which we do appreciate and left at 1:10pm after being offered another booking.
No fees were charged for this visit.
We hope you are able to find another emergency appointment.

Fantastic experience: Excellent dentist. Completely painless procedure (I was having a molar extracted), they played music because I was uncomfortable with the noises from the dental tools. The receptionist was lovely, the office is beautiful, it's very comfortable. 100% better than other dentists I've been to in newcastle. Dr. Singh even took my call around 6:40pm to address some post-operative questions I had.

Negative experience: Went to the dentist almost 2 weeks ago. Done everything they told me so I could clear this gum infection up, without antibiotics mind you .... My gums are red, swollen and so so sore they are starting to peel in a way I've never had this happen before. All I had done was a scale and clean, it was the worst pain I've ever felt and there wasn't any sympathy from the dentist herself but her assistant was amazing she really helped me, I didn't enjoy my experience what so ever and my gums are just getting worse , I was told the next day they'll start feeling better well it's now been almost 2 weeks and nothing's changed so (and yes I've done what they asked me to do because I want nothing more than for my gums to be healthy and not sore what so ever) ? . Wouldn't recommend from my experience

Fantastic experience: Been coming here for a few years. Dr singh has a small practice and is always respectful of my financial position and never does any unnecessary tests, excellent work at a reasonable cost, always respectful and great service, patient with my anxiety around dentists. Fantastic experience: I had extremely bad tooth that needed extraction. The lady dentist was able to get me an appointment on the same day and was very delicate at getting out. The dentist, her assistant and receptionist were extremely polite and professional. She talked me through the process and stopped to give me a break. Fantastic experience: Kind and friendly service and could fit me in for an appointment the day after I called. Dr Singh is careful and diligent in her work and this made for an excellent pain-free service. As well as this Dr Singh took extra time to ensure my retaining wire fit comfortably and securely to my teeth and charged only half of what I was quoted for the same service elsewhere. I will be back in future!

Negative experience: The Dentist was friendly and did from what I can tell a good job. Unfortunately I will not be returning as the charges where unaffordable. I have had this same procedure done 10plus times at 5 different dentists across NSW and have always been charged the same standard rate of $120 recementing fee plus an oral examination fee. However on this occasion I was charged $200 recementing fee plus a $57 oral exam fee, more than ever before. I guess its shame on me for not asking for a quote before hand.

Negative experience: One of the worst Dentists I've ever been too. I was quoted $120 for a checkup and scale and clean. There was no full checkup of every tooth what you get from every other dentist and there was no scaling done all she did was a bit of buffing and a terrible job of it. One of my front teeth has been in pain ever since and my teeth have been sensitive. When I went to pay the bill I was charged $186.. thats $66 more than what I was quoted over the the phone and to do less work than what I asked for. When I explained that I was quoted differently over the phone the response I got was "yea sorry to stitch you up" and was still charged $186.

Positive experience: I must admit I was nervous after reading the latest review (from a week ago), it was pretty damning! However, I was in pain and when offered an early appointment on a sunday morning, thought I would see for myself. I am so glad I did. I found Dr Sheika Singh to be caring, thorough and professional. She took the time to answer all of my questions and talk me through my fears. After a consult and x-ray on a sunday, I was also expecting to pay much more and was happily surprised with what I considered to be a very reaonsable fee. THANKYOU!! Kerrie

Negative experience: There was an exposure to my root in tooth number 9 (American number system) while the dentist was working on performing a filling. When I asked about why I was bleeding, Dr. Sheikha did not admit to the root exposure and said that it was just because she was working beneath the gum line, and that the root had not been affected. This root exposure caused me to need a root canal and has given me serious problems (episodes of radiating pain) ever since (which was over one and a half years ago). I had two dentists look at my x-rays from before the filling and both confirmed that the filling would not likely have needed to be so deep, which means that Dr. Sheikha likely drilled too far. Further, when reshaping the tooth, parts of my natural tooth were sanded away where there was absolutely no reason for it, and the tooth was made very thin. The portion of the tooth near the gum line was also shaped improperly, causing my bite to be dramatically thrown off, even after two days of reshaping. I really think that she tried and was well intended, but just didn't have the skill to reshape the tooth properly. Also, at one point, there were blobs of wet composite that were sealing the space between the teeth and also on the other front tooth (number 8). When I pointed this out, she used the drill to quickly flick the composite off of tooth number 8, and it actually chipped a small amount off of the bottom of that tooth. It is a small chip but still bothers me to this day to look at. There were also jagged edges on the side of this tooth created from this tooth filling that interrupted flossing that other dentists had to fix. Dr. Sheikha also did a filling on tooth number 10 at that time, where she totally missed the decay and I had to pay another dentist to redo the same filling shortly after. I sent an email explaining all of this long ago and received no reply. This experience has brought me a huge amount of pain and grief and I am worried that I will lose my tooth as well as any other possible consequence from having a root canal. I do think this dentist would be good with kids to do basic cleanings or non-drill related dental work, but I strongly do not recommend having any work requiring a drill to be performed by Dr Sheikha. I actually liked her personality a lot and did not want to write this review, but I think this experience is important to note, as it has affected my life deeply.
I am so so sorry that you did not have a good experience at King Street Dental over two years ago. We did try our best to help you with the toothache and radiating pain that bought you to the practice.It is terrible if you are still in pain after two years. You were going to Thailand or USA for dental treatment. I would recommend you see Specialist Endodontics in Charlestown if you are still having issues after the treatment provided overseas. She really lives up to her reputation as a phenomenal dentist and her practice was A1. We were straight in, pain relieved, X-rays done, tooth extracted and after care explained clearly and kindly - all within 1hr of arrival.
