Fantastic experience: As someone who gets very stressed about going to the dentist, I can honestly say Dr George did a phenomenal job from start to finish. He made me feel completely reassured and confident in his skill. I needed major work on tooth 36 after a challenging previous experience, and it was such a blessing to have Dr George take over. He was calm, thorough, and strategic, and you could tell he knew exactly what he was doing. The procedure took about an hour and, despite how complex it was, I felt comfortable the entire time. I’m now healing really well with minimal pain and swelling. I also want to thank Michelle at reception and Clara, his nurse, who were both incredibly kind and caring. They made the whole experience smooth and stress-free. The Sydney Smile Centre team are phenomenal and I couldn’t recommend them more highly.

I was nervous about the work that needed to be done but Dr George and his team walked me through step by step and made me feel very comfortable throughout the whole process. Negative experience: I lost a crown from another dentist, so I came here to have it reattached. Unfortunately, the dentist broke the crown while working on it. To patch it up, he charged me $460, even though he was the one who broke it. Three days later, his work failed. I went back, and although he didn’t charge me this time, all he did was polish the tooth and say he preferred not to touch it. Two days after that, the rest of the tooth broke completely. I won’t be returning. I paid $460 for nothing, plus a $90 consultation fee, and the dentist didn’t even properly communicate with me. It’s disappointing because I used to like this place.

Fantastic experience: Just before midnight on a Saturday night, I rang Dr George Hedges to say I’d lost a front tooth veneer and I was flying out on Monday morning to go on a holiday. Not only did he pick up, he said - “see you tomorrow at 10:30 - I’ll open up my surgery, get the nurse and the receptionist there and we’ll look look after you”. What other dentist would do that - on a Sunday! And dental staff ! If I could give 19 stars I would. I cannot thank Dr Hedges, Nurse Clara, and Michelle enough. He’s the best dentist in the North South East and the West! What other dentist would take a call at midnight on a Saturday, and open the surgery for 1 patient on the Sunday. I am forever grateful. Negative experience: I would not recommend this dental practice to anyone. I had veneers done by Dr. Ana Garcia at a significant cost, but they fell off after just six months. They were redone, only to fall off again after three months. In comparison, veneers I had done on another tooth by a different dentist lasted for over 10 years. This has been the worst dental experience I’ve ever had. When I explained my situation and the financial burden, I was met with a smile and told I would be charged again for repairs. Despite spending a considerable amount, the outcome was highly unsatisfactory. I deeply regret choosing their services and would caution others against doing the same.

Fantastic experience: Dr Garcia is a wonderful dentist and has been looking after my dental issues for some 10 years. Always willing to fit me in when I have an acute issue, and the results are always first class. I now live in Cronulla but no way I’ll change my dentist.

Fantastic experience: I came in as an emergency in a lot of pain on the 23 December 2023 to be seen by Dr George Hedges .After the first consultation I was told I needed root canal to save a my tooth . Dr Hedges and his staff were very upfront but more importantly very comforting as I was a very nervous patient. I cannot speak highly of this practice and would recommend Dr Hedges .

Fantastic experience: Thank you Dr George Hedges and the team for saving my tooth when no-one else would or could, and doing it so kindly and efficiently. I was advised by HCF on 23 Dec 2022 that I needed emergency root canal but unfortunately they could not do anything until end January 2023. I spent two hours calling a list of HCF endodontists, one of whom said it was critical I get care and should not wait till 10 January when he returned - his staff were on leave and he couldn't help today - and suggested I call the dental association who give me Dr George Hedge's number. Dr George answered the phone immediately - and saw me the next day Xmas eve at 2pm. He was in touch on Christmas Day to see how I was and encouraged me to call if I had pain, which I did twice and both times he helped. I have never experienced that level of support before from a health practitioner, let alone during public holidays. I was in pain because, as informed by HCF who explained this to me when they saw the xrays, it was a difficult job to drill into the roots as they had extreme calcification. However, Dr George and his wonderful assistant Dr Carolina (she is yet to requalify here but is a Dr of Dentistry in her home country) literally held my hand through the five sessions it took to get it all done. I have left it longer than normal to write this review as the tooth was so difficult and I had been in pain for some time prior and Dr George wanted to be sure it was all okay. I can happily assure anyone reading this that my tooth is completely pain free for the first time in months. In addition, the surgery practice managers are also fantastic. Everything was explained to me beautifully (much better I have to say than HCF) and I literally did not have to worry about the cost, they did all the worrying for me. It is so refreshing to pay what I was quoted, despite us thinking it would all be over in three visits and it took five. And an additional bonus is that the surgery is clean and fresh and exceptionally well maintained (i was there so much I met the dental equipment service technician) and the surgery has all day free car parking at the back. I was not surprised to hear that the surgery was full of other emergencies and Dr George was making room for all of us and deflecting the pain with his engaging repertoire! I rarely write reviews, let alone a good one. Dr George, you are truly worth the time and effort to do so, thanks again.

Fantastic experience: Dr. George (Jorge) is fantastic! 52 years of being a dentist - I had almost no pain when he extracted my tooth - I rang on Saturday looking for a dentist and he was even happy to come on a Sunday if I was in pain!!’ His assistant Carolina is so kind and nice. He has this new machine that numbs your mouth with a gentle needle, so you almost feel no pain. You cannot find a funnier, gentler and nice dentist. Muchas gracias !

Fantastic experience: Dr Hedges and Carolina assisted me during the busiest time of the year when it is stressful to find a good dentist. Dr Hedges is very attentive and also has great dad jokes and Carolina helped me feel at ease during the process of the root canal. Fantastic experience: My daughter needed urgent attention with an infection on New Year’s Eve. At a time when no dentist picks up the phone, Dr George and his team dropped everything to treat her. Clearly an expert with deep experience in dentistry - in this case root canal - Dr Hedges waved his magic wand and after weeks, she’s pain free. A master of his craft and fantastic at keeping a nervous patient calm, informed and free of pain. A kind and genuine family practice.

Fantastic experience: Came to see Dr Hedges with a very bad toothache and he and his lovely assistant Carolina looked after me and did a wonderful work to get rid of my pain using the magnificent magic wand to do the root canal treatment with no pain at all.

Fantastic experience: This practice was able to fit me in at short notice and even stayed open a little longer to accomodate me. The receptionist Michelle and dental nurse Carolina were both lovely and kind. Dr George made me feel at ease immediately and he was so entertaining, he has a great sense of humour which is a valuable trait as a dentist. He repaired the enamel on one of my teeth and he was so gentle that I didn't feel any pain whatsoever. I highly recommend Dr George and his staff, they were all fantastic.

Fantastic experience: I have had such a great experience with Dr George and his fabulous friendly team. I’d been having constant gum infections and incredible pain with two teeth. My previous dentist would just give me antibiotics and send me on my way and the pain would just come back. I went to Dr George in an emergency and he was incredible. They fit me in immediately and took action. I’ve needed root canal on both teeth and was very scared but Dr George and the lovey Carolina put me at ease … from the incredibly painless wand, the funny jokes and banter and the care to ensure I never feel pain I can’t thank the team more. And kept the situation calm as-well a sense of humour. It was done in a professional manner whilst teaching myself and the client the process at matter. Fantastic experience: This practice was so good at fitting me in on a same day appointment for an emergency appointment when I experienced severe pain in my mouth. A week later I had to come back and get my wisdom tooth out. An uncomfortable experience but Dr. George, Carolina (the nurse) and Michelle the receptionist did their utmost to reassure and keep me laughing. Dr. George even walked with me to the pharmacy to get pain medication and rang me the next morning to see how I was recovering after the extraction. A real personal touch and a good laugh overall. Fantastic experience: What a great experience with Dr George, he was honest from the beginning about what i need to get done right down to the cost. Michelle and the nurse (sorry don’t remember her name) were absolutely amazing with my daughter (10months) while I was busy getting a root canal done. He definitely made the procedure much more delightful by chatting, being extremely gentle and making jokes.

Fantastic experience: I went in and saw the ever jovial Dr Hedges and his lovely assistant Carolina, yesterday for a chipped tooth. I got a nasty shock after taking a few x-rays and being told that there was decay in the tooth and that I'd need a root canal. However after beginning the procedure, Dr Hedges removed all of the decay and decided that I would only need a filling. I was relieved, and very happy that he had over diagnosed, but then corrected himself like a proper dentist ought to. He was also cracking jokes and was very upfront the whole time which made my feelings around the whole situation a lot warmer than they could've been. Their receptionist Michelle was also lovely and accomodating. You can tell this practice is a tight knit little crew.

Fantastic experience: I couldn’t recommend Dr hedges and the comforting friendly team enough, My whole experience was pleasant, pain free and surprisingly full of humour which has really changed my negative perception of dental visits altogether. They offer a very fair price for the quality of care you receive. I presented with server tooth pain and they managed to fit me in and sort it out for me in no time, I will definitely be returning to this clinic for future appointments.

She was very rude and sent me back to my country to do the job that I wanted to get done. She did not explain everything and kept pushing me to do and unnecessary XR. I felt robbed. Please do not go to this place.

Fantastic experience: I had a terrible tooth ache on a Sunday to the point of being close to tears, after roaming the internet Ifor an emergency dentist and speaking to a few places I came across Dr George who was so lovely over the phone and speaking to the actual dentist rather than a call centhad me in the dentist chair by 6:00 pm and contacted me in the morning to check how I was feeling. The personal touch to the clinic is appreciated and I have now found my new dentist.

Negative experience: Dr. Garcia was rude and did not engage with me at all, she turn her back to me while talking. Getting information out of her about root canal treatment was like pulling teeth. She was scattering around trying to get information...not prepared at all, and she has no bedside manner at all, she does not explain anything unless you insist I had an extra unnecessary xray. She did not clean the back inside of my teeth as the tar is still visible, she only cleaned the front teeth. Seems to me the all they want is to make money out people. The rest of the staff were professional and courteous. While i was at reception the rude Dr Hedges came in not wearing a mask, and rudely interrupted my conversation with the receptionist ! Never going there again.

His jovial nature and his can-do attitude made a usually very stressful experience one that I will no longer fear. George is experienced and thorough - My root canal was completely painless, thanks to the trusty Dental Wand.. and his gentle approach. Having been told elsewhere that I needed to see a specialist for treatment, which would've taken 3 months, George's experience and flexibility meant that they were able to schedule regular treatments and get the job done in a few short weeks. I am glad to have found a diligent and humorous dentist that cares - I am a regular from here on in!

Negative experience: Want a professional, empathetic dentist? Go elsewhere! Dr Hedges is a butcher who will drain your wallet dry and mutilate your mouth in the process. I promptly found another dentist after a disastrous extraction left a large gouge in my gums that took a month to heal.

Fantastic experience: I suffered a chipped molar on Saturday morning, during Sydney's second Covid lockdown & my regular dentist wasn't open. I knew if I didn't get repairs done that day I would dealing with major dental pain. Thankfully Maroubra Sydney Smiles Center came to the rescue. Special mention to Dr George Hedges, his calm & professional expertise eased my concerns. He repaired my molar within the hour from my call. Injecting anesthetic into the gum is unpleasant. Dr Hedges uses new technology to make this process pain free & I was able to speak normally, no drooling & numbing for hours after! I couldn't be happier. Service & reception were all professional, procedure costs were clearly explained. I left a very happy & relieved patient.

Fantastic experience: After experiencing a dental emergency before Christmas, I didn’t think I could find a dentist at short notice but Dr Hedges happily came to the rescue on Boxing Day and opened the surgery for me, even as a new patient. Negative experience: Do not go to this dentist I saw George Hedges he insisted I needed root canal I refused and he followed me out of the surgery after I paid $163 for 1 X-ray. I got a second opinion and there was nothing wrong with my tooth I had a bit of gingivitis on the gum. I felt harassed by him.

Negative experience: Do not go to this place! Dr Ana Maria Garcia is a money maker not a dentist. I went there for a cleaning. She did a such poor job that I had to do it again with another dentist Also, she provided a quote with 11 fillings! Insane number considering I need only 4 of them. It's a such dishonest behavior, she shouldn't conduct a business. In response to Dr Ana Maria: I paid your service since I pay a private insurance weekly... In addition to that I had an appointment with a real dental practitioner and she confirmed 4 decay not 11... I understand you would like your clients to help you to pay for your next cruise vacation but I am very concern about your "practice". People with mental impairment or senior can be easily scammed from your dishonest services. Last thing, I only write negative comments to warn people about scammers so I feel it's common sense to report you. Keep those pictures because I have lodged a complain to AHPRA

Fantastic experience: I went to George for an emergency root canal. He is an absolute legend, from an initial phone consultation to the procedure and after care, I could not be happier with his services. I have definitely found a new dentist and highly recommend him.

Negative experience: One of my veneers popped off and I needed to have it cemented back on. My regular dentist is further away, so I looked for a local dentist to save time as i only wanted it glued back on. The procedure lasted maybe 15 minutes. The veneer was cleaned and bonded back to my tooth. The dentist attempted to charge $565 for this. This included: - $175 after-hours fee, even though the appointment was within their opening hours. - $195 consultation fee - $195 cementing fee for the veneer. They charged my health fund first, before showing me the expenses. He wanted to see how much the insurer would pay, before I had the chance to dispute anything. The after- hours fee was immediately removed as soon as I challenged. It is clear that they were hoping my health insurance would throw some extra money their way, but when this didn’t happen, I think he realised I was about to get very heated. He said that, given it was 2 January, what would I expect. I said that 2 January is not a public holiday, and they are open on Saturdays- clearly it was not “after-hours”. After-hours, as the name suggests, would be a visit at a time the dentist would not otherwise be open. He then said “are you happy now?” I then asked what service was provided as part of a $195 consultation fee? I didn’t get x-rays, a checkup or a clean. I didn’t have anything else except re-bonding of a veneer, which was separately charged. He then removed this charge (or course, he kept the part my health insurance paid). I also had to listen to a stream of condescending remarks such as “I’ve been a dentist for 30 years. I can’t be bothered with this”. On the way home, I called my regular dentist to tell her about the charges. She nearly fell off her chair. It’s quite unpleasant being put in a position where I have to pick a fight like this. After much thought, I felt morally compelled to leave this review. A more timid person may have just paid the bill. I feel it is necessary to warn any potential patients of the risk of being ripped-off. I also realised that when the dentist calculated the gap for me to pay, he took the cementing fee, less the amount my health fund paid, and I paid that. The amount the fund gave for the “consultation fee” he kept as a bonus. I suggest looking for a dentist with more integrity.

Fantastic experience: I had to make an emergency visit to Sydney Smile Centre. Dr Garcia stayed back to take care of me. She was professional, caring and informative. I would highly recommend her to my family and friends.

Negative experience: Doctor Garcia was rude, unprofessional and did a poor job with my teeth that has cost me a lot to fix. The rest of the staff were lovely and friendly but I would avoid Doctor Garcia.

Fantastic experience: Ive had both my wisdom teeth taken out here and the all the staff Dr George, Michelle and nurse Jazelle were all very kind and comforting. They were absoulte legends coming in there days off today to help with my dry socket pain. Highly recommend !! Thanks again guys!

Fantastic experience: Not a fan of going to the dentist at all. After a couple of days of severe pain I had to go. Sydney Smile Centre managed to fit me in the same day. I have real anxiety with going to the Dentist and Dr Garcia was amazing. Gentle ans understanding. Thoroughly recommend.

Negative experience: I went here last year and was very upset after the doctor did not listen to my concerns and the follow up call was so rude. I expressed that this was something that happened to me before but she wouldn’t listen, she proceeded to give me the injection to numb the area then said oh it’s fine don’t need to do anything. I then had a numb face for hours and paid for something I knew I didn’t need. The. Received a phone call months later to see if I had completed the treatment and the lady was so rude. Asked me if I had pain why she was calling me and me not calling her. It was an overall very odd, uncomfortable and unpleasant experience.

Negative experience: I rang in an emergency on the weekend because a friend had fallen over and broken her two front teeth. The dentist who replied told me he was playing bridge and could see her 3 hours later. He said he'd call 2.5 hours later. I tried to give him my friend's phone number but he told me he was very busy (playing bridge) and couldn't do two things at once. Then he hung up on me. Really unprofessional. Zero interest in ever seeing him in future.

Fantastic experience: So it was late one night and my wisdom tooth was in so much pain! I was so relieved to call Dr Hedges and have him come in after hours. Everyone was so helpful even when I was in absolute agony. I left the surgery feeling a different woman!!! Will be forever grateful for the team and Dr Hedges for their constant care and professionalism.
