Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend Dr. Julian Moore. I’ve had both a root canal filling and a crown procedure done by him, and the whole experience was excellent. Dr. Moore explained everything clearly in plain English so I knew exactly what to expect, which made me feel very relaxed.I also have a sensitive tooth, and he went out of his way to get a special dental sealant that has helped me a lot. More than four years later I no longer live in North Melbourne, but still make the trip. Julian is transparent and honest (not to mention lovely.) He talks through what he’s doing and explains what he’s thinking, always putting your needs first. You don’t feel like a mouth in a chair, you feel like his collaborator. The whole practice is so well run. Always on time, always so efficient, always welcoming, and with minimum fuss, just how I like it. They’ve got Where’s Wally in the waiting room too. Fantastic experience: I have been going to Julian for over 11 years. I have found him to be a very thorough dentist who is also prepared to refer me to dental specialists when required. His knowledge and skill are of a very high standard.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend for all dental work. Dr Julian has been my dentist for over 12 years and he has done high quality work for me, some of it complex. The preventative work he did for my three children has held them in good stead over many years, not requiring much more now than a regular clean. My elderly mother is now also attending and we are delighted with the service. Dr Julian is extremly careful and caring and brings a high level of training and experience to the job. He has our trust.

Negative experience: Please take caution when visiting this dental clinic and seeing Julian. It's been years since I've visited this clinic where he completely escalated my two back molars with fillings that to this day, I have had other dentists state that those fillings were no where near necessary (even if they were not aware of the condition). I was in my mid 20s at the time and felt constantly manipulated into believing something was wrong with my teeth that needed serious dental work and of course would cost a fortune. It's because of him I lost a lot of trust in the medical field. Some other scenarios to name were where he would always try and upsell me teeth cleaning products that I kept saying no to, even after the first time. Another was when I went for a consult with a dental surgeon for the removal of wisdom teeth on his recommendation (which I was happy to do because you should trust who they refer you to), but when I asked to seek someone of my choosing for a second opinion, he would always try and persuade me otherwise because he has a good relationship with who he referred me to even though I felt uncomfortable with that dental surgeon who costed MORE than the standard removal of wisdom teeth AND required me to sign a waver for the surgery. Just so many red flags....! I've had so many other more pleasant and reassuring visits with dentists since this place. Please do not go here if you want your teeth to be well looked after. I truly believe his main goal is to get as much money out of you as possible, rather than the care of your teeth.

Fantastic experience: Can't recommend enough - Julian is particularly helpful for anyone who, like me, suffers from pretty extreme dentophobia. He is reassuring and gentle but still helps his patients to persevere through their discomfort to make sure the treatment is adequate.

Fantastic experience: I was a regular patient of Julian’s about 10 years ago, when I lived in North Melbourne. I changed dental practices only after I moved further away and had simultaneously changed to a health insurance provider which had its own dental clinics. My new provider only seemed to do the bare minimum (scale and clean) every six months, and I don’t think I had any preventative work done in the entire time I was their patient (probably because of Julian’s excellent preventative care prior!). I have recently returned to become a patient of Julian’s again, as I found he has always provided (and continues to provide) excellent care. Julian is always cheery, it’s always a pleasant experience and I know and trust that he takes my oral health seriously. I’m more confident now that I have returned to Julian’s care that my teeth are being looked after by a highly-trained professional with the ‘big picture’ in mind, rather than a health-fund appointed dentist only interested in churning through as many patients in a day as possible. After moving away from the area I went to a different dentist, however when a more complicated issue came up I decided to travel further to see Julian again because I knew I could trust him to look after my teeth properly.

Negative experience: I made a booking with Dr Julian to get a check up to see what an implant would be and he talked with me for only 10 minutes saying how I cannot do anything and it would better for me to not do implant. I do not understand why I paid $90 for him to talk about me not to do something for only 10 minutes.

Fantastic experience: Looked up google for dental practices around the area and decided to give Julien's a try was the best decision I've made. Having been his patient for a year and having extensive treatement done even though the height of the pandemic in 2020, Julien has proven to be dedicated to ensuring the best outcome for his patiens. Not only does he give sound advice (without beating round the bush) and creates a solid plan of action for each patient's situation, he also has a plan for his patient's long term dental health. Julian's dental work is excellent, be it filling or extraction, Julien and his assistants always ensure patients have to endure the minimal of pain and mess. Add his humor and the overall experience of visiting a dentist becomes a pleasent one instead of the horror stories kids are told. I've recommended him to my partner and we have both agreed that Julien's the go to dental practice should we need anything done regardless where we live. Fantastic experience: I have been going to North Melbourne Dental from last 5 years now. I have had a quite complex work done including large restorations and crowns with Dr Julian Moore. And I am so glad that every thing was taken care of so precisely and with perfection. I since then routinely just go for check ups and cleans every 6 months, and other than that there is no real thing that I do for my teeth. It's peace of mind that my dentist is Dr Julian Moore who thinks prevention and early detection of problems is key to avoid overly complex issues. Money wise, I would say quality always comes with a price anywhere you go. And here quality of work is given the utmost importance. So I would rather spend on something that I know will work and that too for long term than something which for short term will look like cheap and long term cost me even more. So yeah, I will always keep going back to North Melbourne Dental for my teeth.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I were on a search for a trustworthy dentist and we finally settled on Julian Moore as our family dentist. He came with the highest recommendation from a friend. He did some corrective work to fix up other dentists’ mistakes. Julian is a real character and is very knowledgeable. He is flexible and caring! My family and I now travel some distance (over 90 mins) to see him as we live on the other side of town, and committed to travel even with a little one in tow. He certainly does not disappoint. Fantastic experience: I started attending North Melbourne Dental from a recommendation and I have been absolutely pleased with my experience. Julian and staff are attentive to detail, professional and caring about my long term dental health. I had a few fillings that needed to be done and Julian and staff handled them with precision and care, explaining what needed to be done in a way that is easy to understand. I also had an issue with a root canal abnormality which was first spotted by Julian and referred to a specialist immediately. This had not been picked up by previous dentists I had seen and it could have resulted in grave consequences for that tooth if not for him noticing it. His experience speaks for itself and I can happily say I have found my dentist. Thank you Julian and team!

Positive experience: Expensive. The entire time in the chair I felt I was being ripped off as he continually suggested and went forward with things without discussing the costs or whether the things were important or not. In the end it was at least twice the price expected with tacked on extras like multiple xrays at a ridiculous price each (iirc $50-75ea). The clean I booked was not completed in one session. So I had to pay double for another followup clean. In the end he straight up missed spots so now my teeth are very clearly blotchy. Expect to have him negotiate extra work on the day and push for several other cosmetic procedures too. All the while suggesting this work while in your mouth so you can't actually have a discussion to ask whether something was actually important or just to line his pockets. All up I spent roughly $1000+ for a clean and checkup plus all the extras. I'm now booking a clean with a different dentist.

Fantastic experience: Makes going to the dentist a pleasure! I chose North Melbourne after ringing around and finding them to be the most friendly. I went in for a general check up/clean, and had a few more subsequent appointments which was mostly preventative work at the advice of Julian for my best ever dental health moving forward. Fantastic experience: I started seeing Julian as my regular dentist several years ago following a brief hiatus from 6-month check-ups when I had moved overseas from the USA to Australia. During the first few appointments, he filled several new cavities that had appeared and took preventative measures on a couple others, none of which have had any issues since. One old filling I had from childhood required a crown and he did a wonderful job, even sending the first crown back for adjusting (no price change) when he wasn't 100% happy with how it was sitting. I can't tell it apart from my other teeth now. I will also mention then I never experienced any pain during any of the procedures. Julian is terrific, and I couldn't be happier with my experience.

Fantastic experience: I have been seeing Julian for my teeth for about 20 years. Initially there were quite a few fillings, later a bite split (a guard to wear at night) to stop me damaging my teeth by grinding at night. Since then things have settled down really well and and all my teeth are still going strong at 52 years of age. Julian's approach is preventative, treating small problems early so they don't become big problems. My experience shows that it works. I'm happy to recommend him to anyone.

Julian’s work has always been very professional and thorough, whether it be a crown, filling, or a customised splint to prevent grinding. All done with great conversation and a keen sense of humor to make the experience comfortable and easy.

Fantastic experience: I came to Julian in quite a desperate pain situation in December last year. For two years I suffered chronic pain in my jaw and face. This was misdiagnosed as ‘stress’, ‘tension headaches’, then TMJ and even Trigeminal Neuralgia, a serious chronic nerve pain condition, and I was started on Lyrica, a medication with some very serious side effects and risks of addiction. Julian listened to me and appreciated I’d had a difficult time with health professionals. Most importantly he relieved my pain in the first appointment and was able to clearly explain the cause of my pain and the treatment I required. I needed a root canal. Julian and his staff worked through their lunch to start an emergency root canal treatment and I was pain free immediately afterwards. I’ve been having this work completed over the last few months and it’s honestly been a pleasure. Julian is very personable and has a warm attitude to treating patients, and we have a good laugh too - finally a health professional who appreciates my humour! My partner sees Julian as well now and I’ve recommended him to my friends.

Fantastic experience: Long Overdue Review - After being a chef for 20 years, its safe to say i have seen my fair share of dental practices over the years. In 2012 i came across NM Dental practice after moving into the neighborhood and randomly popped in one day after a few too many years of avoiding regular check ups. Dr Julian's friendly personality, pride and care for his profession really made visiting the dentist an experience I began to look forward to. After the immediate attention repair work was complete, i had Julian rebuild and crown 5 of my back teeth, opting to save them rather than just pull and lose forever, a decision i am now very thankful we made. Just OK was not enough for Julian and if something didn't go exactly to plan, such as the crown not sitting perfectly, it was redone at no extra cost to me at all. Every dentist I've seen since then has commended the work i had done on those teeth at North Melbourne dental which as prompted me to finally write this review. Cheers Jake

Fantastic experience: I have been seeing Julian since moving to the neighbourhood a couple of years ago and can't recommend his services strongly enough. Julian obviously takes his work very seriously, and is also a really lovely guy. On my first visit, he noticed a significant problem with my front tooth requiring surgical intervention. He referred to one of the best oral surgeons in Melbourne and has been incredibly supportive throughout the whole process. I have also personally recommended him to a close friend who also had a very positive experience.

Fantastic experience: Julian and his team are exceptional and have restored my faith in dentistry. After a bad experience having my wisdom teeth removed, I was terrified of the dentist and had not been for over 20 years. The team at NMD were respectful of my fear and made sure my visits were as pleasant as possible. Julian and his team are now ‘officially’ my dentist and I have been seeing them faithfully for 3 years now. I even have family members driving from the other side of the city to come to NMD off my recommendation!

I have been going to him for several years and no matter what the procedure I always feel confident in his work and more than satisfied by my experience. Fantastic experience: There is the occasional negative comment on here that I have good reason to think is totally misleading and unrepresentative of the vast majority of experiences that Julian's and Melissa's clients would have. There's simply no way these guys are out to squeeze pennies out of you. A couple of times, Julian did some work on my teeth for free because we hadn't had the results we'd hoped for after previous sessions. Besides, there's always free coffee and dental-care packs! When I first went to see Julian a couple of years ago, he assessed my teeth and told me there was some work to be done that I didn't fully expect (mostly seals of areas that were dangerously close to turning into cavities and other forms of decay). He told me very directly this was precautionary and, helpfully, asked me to picture how I'd feel ten years from now if I didn't take action and regretted it. My teeth already feel better and I'm glad he strongly suggested I agree to the work. Would recommend to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Dr Julian did so much for me in a year and went above and beyond including late bookings and extra work to help me and my bad teeth. If you have a fear of the dentist like I did then go see him, I have never felt so comfortable and calm at a dentist in my life.

Fantastic experience: I visited Dr Julian because I had some work done overseas and it was causing me problems. I found Dr Julian to be very good and he explained to me in detail what was wrong and what needed to be corrected this provided me with a lot of comfort knowing what needed to be done and why it needed to be done. I have since visited Dr Julian many times and have additional work done including a splint which is used to protect my teeth and have referred my dad and Dr Julian has since become my regular dentist.

Negative experience: It appears that Julian sneakily created a second account -which includes his name- for this clinic, so I'll just post what I wrote on that other business location for google maps. I visited this dental clinic earlier this year to get my teeth checked out. Julian uses deceptive words like "I believe" and "I think" when referring to "suspected" tooth decay. I caught him prying at my old metal fillings too attempting to create a problem when there was none. Aside from financial exploitation, Julian had no excuse pushing for expensive treatments such as a dental crown placement, a trip to the orthodontist and more than six fillings with the OPG scans he was provided. I discovered that none of the expensive treatments were necessary when I visited another dental clinic. Since he successfully drilled two of my healthy teeth, I made a formal complaint to the regulations agency for health practices. Do not go to this dentist. I also caught him being dishonest with me during a phone call where he said "I said I wasn't going to do a crown on that tooth *name*, I merely said that we when we actually did that filling I suspected that there would be decay underneath that filling and we might have to do a filling to hold it together until later on down the track when a crown could be placed over the top of it." Yes. It is legal in Victoria to record phone calls/conversations if you are a participant.

Fantastic experience: Julian has been my dentist for nearly 2 years. He is one of the most meticulous and thorough professionals I have ever met. I recently had a splint made to prevent the damage from teeth grinding. Julian checked the splint numerous times for a perfect fit, without any further costs.

Fantastic experience: When I first went into see Julian, I had probably been to the dentist twice in 6 years. In one year, He has helped transform not only my teeth but my dental habits. Now I no longer fear the dentist, I welcome a chat with Julian and a check up. I have confidence in my teeth again. I would highly recommend anyone seeking quality dentistry to give Julian a try, you won't be disappointed!

Negative experience: I don't trust Julian and will never go back, would never recommend to anyone who actually cares about their teeth. I went to see him about 7 months ago for a clean, have never had any dental problems before ever. He suggested I needed about 8 or so fissure sealants, which he drilled each of my teeth before filling them, the whole point of fissure sealants is so you don't need a filling and it's a preventative. I was seeing another dental specialist at the time who said my teeth were perfect and clearly Julian was trying to fatten up his wallet. I believe my teeth are well and truly damaged from Julian drilling the so called "cavities" that I've never had before, weren't visible on the x-rays but according to Julian "I've got an eye for cavities that most normal dentist don't have". Clearly just looking to make money and not caring about his patients actual health. Wish I found all these negative reviews before I let him ruin my teeth my drilling into majority of them. Btw Julian before you go and write a comment advising that my name isn't on patient records, I don't have my surname on social media, I definitely am an old patient who will NOT be returning.

Fantastic experience: I started coming to North Melbourne Dental a year and a half ago with some serious problems on my front teeth. Julian's expertise and attention to detail helped fix the issue, and I'm extremely happy with the result. Julian has also been integral in improving my overall dental health, and was able to refer me to an excellent surgeon for wisdom teeth removal (no pain after 4 wisdom teeth extractions!). I've now moved 40 minutes away from North Melbourne, but I continue to come to Julian's practice because it's always a welcoming experience, and I know that I can't easily find this quality of service elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Dr Julian and his staff are an extremely professional and friendly team. I had neglected my teeth for over ten years due to a number of things, the main reason being a young and foolish man. I have a terrible dislike for hospitals and dentists so I generally stay away and try to get by with basic dental hygiene and a bit of masculine ignorance. However this eventually caught up with me and I knew I would need extensive work done. I was wary about choosing a dentist and nervous about the procedures, not to mention the cost. I was very lucky that North Melbourne Dental was close to my house. Everything was explained slowly and carefully and all my options were laid out fairly to me without pushing decisions for me. The procedures were as smooth as possible. I have a sensitive gag reflex which means I can't do shots of tequila and I'm a nightmare to operate on. Everything was done quickly and efficiently with a bit of character from Dr Julian and his team which is quite rare these days. I've learned I need to take better care of my dental health. Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of North Melbourne Dental for quite a few years now. The team there have always been so welcoming, always remembering my name and offering me a coffee and a magazine when i walk in the door. Julian always makes time to see me in times of dental crisis, and i have had a few recently! The rest of the team are also fantastic, making time to answers questions over the phone, and are always so friendly when i call for the nintieth time to change my appointment! As someone who has their own new business, i am always a bit strapped financially, and Julian always advises the most economical treatment for me, and explains exactly what he needs to do and how much it will be before he starts. The work he has done on my teeth is flawless, and i always feel as though i am in the best hands. I have recommended him to all my friends and family.

Fantastic experience: I have been a client of Julian at North Melbourne Dental for over 20 years. When I first went to see Julian my mouth was a bit of a mess to say the least. During this journey Julian has always had respect for me, my mouth and we have always progressed a pace that suited me. Julian has always supplied options and pros and cons for each option to allow me to decide. Over this long period Julian has also maintained a very high standard of work, care and never leaves anything that is not perfect or put another way, the quality of work in my mouth would be the same quality he expects for his own. I am so happy with his work my two children also are patients. Work on my mouth has included complex bridge works and crowns. Negative experience: This bloke is a scam artist - read through all the comments, not just the ones written by him on fake accounts. I went to him and he told me i needed 3k worth of work done. I went down the road and was told I didn't need anything done. He was rough and trying to plug various items throughout the process. No good, go elsewhere. Anywhere.

Fantastic experience: Let me start off by saying Julian is beyond amazing. I hadn't been to a dentist in ages, due to the inconsistences I’ve encountered with prior dentist. I went into North Melbourne Dental after looking up reviews online and didn’t really know what to expect. The first thing Julian said to me is, I’m going to tell you what work you need done and suggest how we go about it. It’s up to you to decide if that’s what you want to do or not. Right then and there, I knew that he was going to be an awesome dentist. He didn’t tell me that I needed to do this and that to basically line his pocket, he told me what I needed to ensure I have strong and healthy teeth. He explains each and every procedure he’s going to do or doing and takes you step by step during the process. If you have a puzzled look on your face, he will break it down for you, to ensure that you have a very clear understanding of what’s being done. Julian has great stories and is always engaged whenever you’re telling him a story. Which is very rare to find in dentist and doctors, being they deal with so many patients on a daily basis. He’ll remember your stories and ask how things are going. I was sadden when I left AUS to move back to the US because I knew I was losing a great dentist and someone I could all a friend. Now that I’m back in the US I’m contemplating going back to AUS periodically to have Julian do any major dental work I need done. Fantastic experience: I have been attending North Melbourne Dental for over 17 years now. Like a lot of people I have always hated having to go to the dentist but Julian immediately succeeded in putting me at ease with his friendly & professional attitude. In my early days as a patient I expressed concern about pain during a procedure; Julian put me at ease and assured me straight away that I would not feel a thing - he was right, I did not experience any pain at all! Even though my teeth were in a terrible state when I first started visiting, many years later I still have my smile intact and I'm sure with Julian's help I can keep it that way too.
