Negative experience: Not transparent at all. Got taken bitewings, didn't even show them to me or went through them with me. Also got told I had a small decay on the enamel level, but she still told me to get a filling on it. She put it on super quick and didn't even polish it afterwards. Hmm... I don't know about this whole upselling thing. Great experience of aussie health care!

Having had a number of check ups with Joyce Lin, and then seeing Dr James You to fix my teeth after an accident, Preston Smiles is definitely the best dentist I’ve ever been to. Their reception staff are lovely and informative, whilst both dentists I’ve seen & nurses have been patient, understanding, and easy to discuss any concerns or queries I have. I always leave with a bigger smile ☺️ Can’t recommend them enough! Edit: Dr Lin and Dr You have since left the clinic I believe, but I’ve since seen Dr Frank Zheng who is just as wonderful. Will continue to come to Preston Smiles for my dental needs! Edit 2 Aug '24: I have since been back to visit Dr Olivia Wei Sha who was also wonderfully patient and friendly, as well as giving me great advice on how I can continue to care for my teeth. Fantastic experience: Have been going here for a couple of years now, and am always booked in with Dr Marina Atalla. I can not recommend her to anyone that asks me “where should I go and who should I see” enough. Extremely professional, kind and caring, I have not had any work done that is out of the ordinary, mainly check ups and cleans, with the occasional filling, but for someone who is anxious to go to the dentist, I always feel comfortable with Dr Marina, plus I get to walk out with a smile every time, and not only cause I’ve just had my teeth cleaned, I’ve had them cleaned by a fantastic dentist. Can not recommend her highly enough! 10/10 dentist at a really great and friendly clinic

Fantastic experience: Preston Smiles is amazing! Definitely put all my nerves at ease. I suffer with horrible anxiety and the team made me feel so comfortable and relaxed whilst also showing they care about my teeth AND my comfortability. My first ever appointment was with Dr Timothy Van and I can’t recommend him enough based on his kind and caring personality, I felt like I was just chatting along with a good friend. A huge thank you to the dental assistant/nurse for comforting me through my whole appointment, she made sure I felt right at home and kept a lovely, kind flowing conversation with me to take my mind off being at the dentist. She was extremely wholesome. Never have I ever met a kinder person than her and I want to thank all these beautiful people for being in the dental industry for the RIGHT reason. Anyone would be lucky to see these dentists but you’d be extra lucky to have Tim as your dentist.

Fantastic experience: Tim and his team have been looking after our family for over 10 years now, great with kids and comforting to have him look after us.

Negative experience: Just went here to get a tooth fixed. Saw Dr Vincent Hou. He says he is a doctor but I am not so sure. He took an x-ray of a tooth that I said was painful, but I old him where the actual cause of the issue was. He refused to listen, jumps to his own conclusions that are incorrect given that I needed the root cause fixed, not the symptoms. Another tooth, which was the second one that I needed to get repaired was meant to be the one he fixed, because it is cracked and needed to repairs to then stop the increase of infections... But no, he said he need to do a root canal or remove the tooth...but that would not fix the root cause. I would advise anyone that visits this dentist to steer clear of Vincent Hou as he does not know what he is doing. In that clinic he does not even ha e a certificate for saying he is a doctor or dentist... Makes me think he is not. So now here I am in pain still, even more pin than when I went in there because of his antics and shoving things around. He told me what I told him, that there was an infection... I told him where it came from... He doesn't listen or think... This "Doctor" I will be reporting to the medical board as he is not fit for practicing.

Fantastic experience: I had an appointment with Dr Darren Chen for a deep clean, which was recommended by a different dental clinic. The price at Preston Smiles is about 40% cheaper than several other clinics. After completing the initial periodontal assessment, Dr Chen said I didn't need to have a deep clean. I am really grateful because instead of 'selling' me the treatment, Dr Chen did put my best interests before financial gain. It was a huge relief to me both mentally and financially. I would highly recommend Preston Smiles and Dr Darren Chen for their services and ethics.

Fantastic experience: I hadn't been to the dentist in.....a long time. This was after a bad prior experience. Preston Smiles were amazing. I was booked with Dr Fariha, who explained everything really clearly and made me feel very comfortable. I got in for an appointment quickly because I had pain and needed some things done in a hurry. Their aftercare has been great. They respond to emails after hours and try to help you out. I highly recommend them, especially if you're a little afraid to go.

Positive experience: After all the bad reviews I have read about this place, I found that it was not that bad from all those years ago. The dentist I saw, Dr. Zeng, was brilliant. This dentist actually listened to the issue, and where I told him the issue was. When one X-Ray turned out not so good, he took another to make sure he could see things clearly, that way no mistakes. He took his time and did things patiently. Thankfully I have a very high pain tolerance and control, so the pain I was in did not cause any issues while they drilled and had cold water in my mouth from the suction. This is no fault of theirs, this is just the issue that I was having due to inflammation in the roots due to the one tooth issue that he was fixing. The drilling and filling were great. Done very professionally and at a very great price. I've not had any issue with the problem since. I would highly recommend Dr F. Zeng to anyone. ------------------------------------ Now to the bad side... ------------------------------------ The only down side was the assistant. Not the best. not saying they shouldn't be assisting, they may be in training, but the patient should be made aware if they are in training. She was probably 14 or 16 years old. She needed help with things. She didn't know how to use suction or do things in that way properly. She didn't look and do her job properly. she made too many mistakes. I actually doubt that she has had any medical training.

Negative experience: Beware of Dr Anthony Chui. His behaviour was so bizarre that it still haunts me... He started drilling away without ANY numbing. Eventually I had to stop him, telling him I was in too much pain. They gave me one needle and then immediately started drilling again. When I said I was still in agony, he stopped and actually waited for the anesthesia to numb the area. When he began again, the pain was still excruciating and when I told him this, he would pause to let me recover slightly and then the drilling would resume. But no further anesthesic was administered. After about the fifth time this happened, I burst into tears and told him I wanted to leave. Every other dentist I had seen at Preston Smiles had been lovely and had given me adequate numbing and I was so confused as to why I was being put through this. When I put my hands to my face as I sobbed, he grabbed my arms and pinned them to my chest. When I stopped crying he said I couldn't leave and finally gave me more anesthesic. It was so strange and awful and while I was given a refund and an apology from the clinic, I still don't understand Anthony's actions and I still can't go back to the dentist. Don't put yourself, or your family, in the hands of someone capable of that.

Fantastic experience: Have visited Preston Smiles multiple times and have had the most amazing service. I've had several consultations and felt extremely comfortable with the experience and professionalism and friendliness of all involved. Would highly recommend!!

Negative experience: They cancelled my appointment with Dr Joyce 2 days prior the Sat appointment, which I booked half a year ago (they also called 2 days ago but was busy so didn’t pick up that phone call). Apparently Dr Joyce had left more than 1.5 months, and she was fantastic! They originally said there’s no more appointments available on the same day and asked me to change to next month, which will consequently lose on the second time free check up with private health insurance (as next one will be in Jan 2023) + against dentist’s advice. At the end, all of a sudden they said there’s a last min cancellation with Dr Ben. But I had a very poor experience from him last time so I had to turn down the offer. The receptionist was nice and I understand she’s doing her job. However when I wanted to speak to the manager by getting an email, I was told the manager said theres no need for their practice to notify clients early about cancellation and there’s nothing they can further talk to me about it. I don’t know why it’s acceptable to let clients know 2 days prior the appointment when the dentist had left more than 1.5 months. There’s lack of duty of care and poor management. It’s also hard to book something when you work full time and everywhere else is full now in June with such a short period of notice. After going to this clinic 4 times in 2 years, its sad to see the 2 good dentists who helped me with my surgery in the past were gone and I have to move to another clinic which they care more about their clients. ps: I don’t understand why I’m still receiving sms for booking reminders when I told your clinic I will no longer be a client.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this dental clinic esp Dr Fariha! We were so worried as this was our 2yso and 3.5yso’s first dental visit, but the receptionist was very nice and professional to address our concern. And Yes!!! Dr Fariha was super sweet and kind talking to them, comforting them and what’s more letting them watch peppa pig so they both were super relax to cope with the check up. We were so surprised that their first dental visit went soooo well! But definitely we couldn’t do without our beautiful team here in Preston smiles!

Negative experience: Pathetic customer service ! I was waiting over an hour for my scheduled appointment. I was only told my appointment will be 10 mins late!Clearly overbooking appointments. Would have loved to see if it was the other way round. Ended up walking out and will never be back here.

Fantastic experience: This has been a great experience! Been putting off getting my wisdom teeth for a while and I’m so glad I booked with them. They were straight forward on the phone and told me all the possible price outcomes. When I went in for the xray I was able to get one of them removed then and booked in for the next ones, and was even advised I don’t need them all taking out if I didn’t want. Catherine was really great and explained everything she was doing. The price was very fair and I’ve come home with no issues (other than the usual weird mouth feeling that comes with going to the dentist). The hole feels smooth with no annoying flappy gum bits. I’ve been well informed on how best to take care of my mouth during the healing process. Preston Smiles we’re honest and there were no extra services pushed onto me, I went in and got exactly what I booked for with no hidden costs. Thank you very much Preston Smiles, ill definitely be returning.

Negative experience: I had a dental procedure which unfortunately was not carried out with the required expertise and due diligence of care. During the procedure I was left for extended periods of time while the dental assistant searched for missing tools, the dentist kept coughing, the light above the chair was unserviceable turning on and off, and the dentist technique was brutal and heavy handed. The dentist had no awareness of the living and feeling person in the chair. The only comments possibly meant to reassure, was the dentist constantly repeating ‘that’s a funny little noise!’ each time the electric tool was turned on, while I had blood running down my neck. The procedure resulted in excruciating swelling, bleeding, and jaw pain and I ended up in the Emergency ward at the Austin Hospital. I discovered later (with consultation by another dental specialist) that the procedure was definitely not necessary in my case and could have been avoided. The follow up complications, pain management and costs have resulted in a very negative experience.

Negative experience: I went to this dental clinic for a paid consultation on my tooth implant last week.However, Dr Timothy Van is very arrogant and helpless, who didn't provide me with any suggestion or advice related to tooth implant, instead he was in a rush to check up my teeth and ask me to come back in October.He didn't even give me a quote or a plan on tooth implant. I still have no idea now on how much it is going to cost me and how many stages it is going to take. Other than that, Dr Timothy Van's attitude is not acceptable. He gave me an impression that he does not like to communicate with those whose first language is not English although my spoken English scored 8 in IELTS test 10 years ago. The funny thing is his accent disclosed the fact that English is not his first language either. I am very ashamed of his service and attitude and I will not recommend him to everyone. Purely waste of time and money.

Negative experience: Tim was not in good mood when giving free consultations because i had an unhealthy gum with disease and also dirty teeth. I look decent and no health insurance. No way am going to spent my saving money to this dental place when they are not giving a caring or options to me. I shocked that i was treated like it is my fault that i dont take care of my teeth. The judgement is real. The service is feeling like rushing and you cant afford it. It is a shame for a dental place with great reviews.

I had almost no pain for three of my visits whilst getting a root canal done. Some other dentists I’ve experienced at other places, just don’t have the best techniques. Negative experience: Unprofessional and not delivering good service. Not recommended. I had been seeing a few dentists in the clinic. This time I booked with Tony. He didn't brief what he was going to do at the start and I had to ask him. Neither did he provide any advice at the end. When he walked me out he smiled and commented that I did not speak English well. Thank you Doctor Tony. Many of your customers see you for your bilingual skills. Fillings did not fit well, but he insisted it was fine. I had to book another dentist to fix it. Will not go back, absolutely.

Fantastic experience: Our experience with Dr Tim and his team was absolutely fantastic. Our family had a fair amount of work done and would highly recommend Preston Smiles to people who need a patient and experienced dentist to themselves and children especially. We trust them because they always gave us good advice to fix and protect teeth and the prices are definitely reasonable.

Fantastic experience: Mom had long-standing problems with her teeth which worsened over the past few years. After hearing good things about Dr Chiu at Preston Smiles from friends, I decided to book mom in for a consultation. Dr Chiu was thorough in finding the root cause of mom's discomfort, and was very patient at explaining things to mom in Cantonese. Other than his excellent scientific knowledge, I was also impressed by his effort in providing cost-effective treatment options. It took us two visits to restore mom's teeth, but mom has never complained about her teeth after that.

Fantastic experience: Preston Smiles has been the only dental clinic I have been using since moving to Melbourne 5 years ago. I have not had any negative experiences regarding services delivered by the clinic. Booking is a breeze. I don't recall being place on hold for anything over 5 minutes. Receptionists there speak clearly over the phone and don't muffle as some that I have encountered in the past. The clinic is usually very accommodating in that they have always tried to slot me in any gaps between appointments in the case that I was running late; otherwise they will offer to reschedule my appointment. Dr A. Chiu is a knowledgeable dentist who is able to hold casual conversations during practise to help relax anxious patients, while remaining respectful and professional --- something that one could expect from good community practitioners. He would always let you know what he is about to do beforehand, and thorough with his explanations when discussing any of my concerns about how to manage my teeth and gum. I have seen other Preston Smiles dentists on-site before, but I see no reason to switch when I know I am already in capable hands. I am confident with Dr A.Chiu's practice and will not hesitate to recommend him to any of my friends.

Fantastic experience: Dr Chiu (pronounced 'chew', and who tolerates the inevitable jokes with good humour) is my idea of the perfect dentist. He is extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to explain why I need work done and how to prevent problems in future. That leaves me best able to look after my teeth. In fact, now I think back on it, since my initial treatments to correct some longstanding issues, I've followed his advice and haven't needed anything but a routine scale and clean since. Speaks for itself, really. He is passionate and patient with his work to the point of fussiness, which for someone who pokes around in your mouth with sharp implements, is the right attitude to have. The clinic is well maintained and has a comforting atmosphere, and the reception staff are always friendly and accommodating.

Fantastic experience: Excellent experience. Dr Chiu is one of the most professional dentist I have ever had. He is willing to spend time to discuss my tooth treatment and patiently answer any questions I had with the dental procedures. The information he provided allowed me to make informed decisions unlike other dentists who would just tell me what I need (without telling me the consequences of the procedures). Definitely would recommend Dr Chiu to everyone.

Fantastic experience: Preston Smiles is a wonderful clinic and a breath of fresh air after going through far too many dentists in the area! The Clinic is welcoming to all walks of life, with multilingual staff who are also fluent in English. I have seen both Dr Joyce Lin & Dr Timothy Van and both are caring, comprehensive and talented doctors! In my exprience, they are one of the cheapest in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne, but with the quality and service of the most expensive! Cannot recommend this clinic enough, they've genuinely, literally improved my outlook on life!

Fantastic experience: Their new facilities are very nice the staff are friendly and Tony (Dr) is patient and attentive, he took the time to explain clearly and concisely what was needed and why. Tony gave upfront information so I could make an informed decision for myself instead of telling me what I should be doing.

He is very thorough and gentle and it’s very important to us as we both get a bit anxious about going to the dentist. We have definitely built up the trust with him and the staffs there. Fantastic experience: Took my 4 year old to see Joyce at Preston Smile Dental. After how many clinics we have been to, they could not get him to open his mouth and would quickly rush us out the door. The first appointment with Joyce was amazing. She was very patient him. I am very impressed and pleased of the service that we have received. Would highly recommend Preston Smile especially if you have a very anxious child. Best dentist I've been too.

Negative experience: disgusting if i could 0 rate i would they you off some doctors there not qualified when you go to pay they give you amount then when u tell u medibank they put there prices up they very doddgy watch out

Negative experience: Booked an appointment for the first time but was running 20 minutes late so i had to reschedule my appointment because i was told 20 mins is too late. Fair enough. For second time, waited more than 20 minutes after scheduled appointment time. When checked with receptionist how long do still have to wait? Answer was "not sure". In fact i was offered for rescheduling again!!! Left that place straight away.

Fantastic experience: I saw Anthony Chieu. Very thorough and good at explanations. Trained at UWA. He did all the work - inspection and clean, did not hand off to a technician for the clean. Would go again.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Chiu is a fantastic dentist! he recently helped me out with a crown I needed after a root canal. the process was very quick, relatively painless and very affordable. What I enjoy most about this dentist is the transparency, I feel like I can trust what these dentists are doing and being over serviced. very happy!

Fantastic experience: I have seen Tony Chiu for the past few years. He has been great at working on preventative care for my teeth. He is a very skilled dentist and very thorough with great attention to detail. I have moved area but return to see Tony for the very high standard of care he provides. I highly recommend his service.
