Negative experience: I decided to check out 818 Dental due to the positive reviews on this platform and also the vicinity to my home. My initial experience was positive (nice staff and Dentist). I moved up my consultation as I thought I had cracked one of my teeth after biting down on a hard tortilla chip. After doing a few tests, it was determined I did not have a crack. However, the Dentist (Dr Kumar) suggested that I replace my two amalgam fillings on the right hand side of my mouth (which were deep, large, and in my two back teeth). I have always been trusting of healthcare providers, so truted Dr Kumar with his recommendation. Booked in, went smoothly (the dentist was not too concerned as there were no cracks) and thought I could move on with life after a little bit of sensitivity. Boy I was wrong. After returning a week later to get my bite adjusted as it was too high, I then went on to the US for a month and continued to experience sensitivity the entire time which I just put down to the normal part of the process. I returned to the clinic after my trip about two more times as I was starting to feel distressed about not being able to eat any slightly hard or grainy food for an extended time, to the point where I noticed change in my facial structure. My last two appointments is when I sensed a change in Dr Kumar's attitude towards me. Dismissive, rushy, and I remember the last thing he said to me was "the ball is in your park. You either wait it out, get a crown or two, or root canal." I left that last appointment in tears (which in my entire life has never happened after seeing a Dentist and that should tell you something...). I sent an email saying I was really unhappy and that I would make this public, and that is when the team went in to fix it mode. I got a call from Briony the Practice Manager who was kind and empathetic. She said the clinic wanted a chance to fix it, and that she would be speaking to the Principal Dentist about my case. I ended up going in to speak to Dr. Saville and Briony and they spent 45 minutes with me checking out the teeth and answering all of my questions. The conclusion was also not very concrete (maybe a crown could work), so I decided to pursue a second opinion with a recommended Dentist based in South Melbourne. So much more came out of meeting with the recommended Dentist, who also treated me with so much more care and patience than Dr. Kumar. I also should have never got my amalgams replaced, so please think about this with care if this route is ever recommended to you. Sadly I will never return based on my overall experience, but I will say that Dr. Saville, Briony and most of the staff bumped this review up from 1 star to 2.

Fantastic experience: I used to dread going to the dentist before I found Lloyd. He is the best dentist ever! His sister Alison is my lifetime favourite hygienist (which is saying something at my age), and I actually look forward to seeing her. It must be said that all of the staff are amazing at 818. They have all of the latest high-tech equipment and procedures, so the dental care is A1, but best of all they make it a pleasure to be there. I can't recommend 818 highly enough!

Fantastic experience: Going to the dentist is traditionally nerve wracking but Lloyd and his team really are experts and I trust them implicitly. Our whole family go and we all feel very calm and relaxed because we know we are in great hands. Fantastic experience: I have been a client of 818 Dental for 13 years. In that time I have had various procedures ranging from routine cleans and check ups to complex dental. Dr Lloyd Saville is an outstanding dentist and is highly skilled at complex dental work. He also has a great manner and makes the whole process more pleasant. My teeth have been transformed since seeing him and have referred most of my friends and family to him. His support staff are also excellent, in particular Hung and Kate.

Having a pretty intense fear of the dentist, Dr. Shymal put me at ease, talked through every option available to me in a completely non-judgmental and professional way that didn't increase my fear. Considering I needed a root canal I can confidently say I was at ease and pretty much pain free through the entire process. Negative experience: I originally went to 818 Dental a couple years ago due to my usual dentist being booked and that I required a urgent re-capping of my front tooth that was chipped. The job received was very ordinary, as the bonding of the tooth was sub-par resulting in discolouring around the crack and the shape of the cap looks to be the likely cause of chips on my bottom teeth directly under the new cap. The previous 2 jobs on this same tooth (from other dentists) have had no issues and were far superior in both quality and shape.

Fantastic experience: What an excellent practice. I havent been to the dentist for 5 years, but the team at 818 Dental made me feel totally safe and comfortable. Filling was done quickly and with ease, no pain, no pressure. Almost makes me look forward to my next appointment (almost)! Haha. Highly recommended for anyone who experiences anxiety around going to the dentist. Thankyou!!

Fantastic experience: This is our family dentist! Every experience has been wonderful, and gentle - a big difference from my childhood dentist!!! All the hygienists I've had all have a wonderful manner and our dentist, Shymal, is just the greatest. We've been in the USA before with a dental emergency, and he answered our call to discuss over the phone before visiting a local dentist. Basically, great dentist for all ages!!!

Fantastic experience: Dr Kumar has been assisting me over the past few years with my night time teeth grinding. Unlike other dentists I have been to, he listens carefully to my concerns and what I believe I need in a splint. He works tirelessly with the lab to ensure each splint is a perfect fit and to my personal specifications. I live in the Northern Territory and travel down to Melbourne to see Dr Kumar when I need assistance. It's worth the cost of air fares to ensure I receive the best care. I wouldn't waste my time going to any other dentist.

Fantastic experience: I have been visiting 818 Dental for about 5 years now. I first visited because it was close to my house but have now moved twice and still travel to 818 as it is simply the best! I even converted my boyfriend to 818 and he loves it just as much as me. Who knew you could love a dental clinic? All the staff are extremely welcoming and friendly and make the experience a really personable one. I have always had quite crowded teeth and an overbite and was always told I'd need to have 4 teeth removed. I had always been hesitant to do this but Dr Lloyd assured me he could perfect my smile without any extractions. I ended up with a Style Smiler system with invisible aligners. After wearing them for less than a year I have the result I have always wanted and could not be happier with my smile! My confidence has been boosted and the whole team have done an amazing job. I will never stop coming to 818 Dental for all my dental needs! Thanks team :)
