Negative experience: I made an appointment for a night guard as I grind my teeth at night. Over the phone I was told roughly $500 dollars. I chose this dentist as most others quoted me around $800 dollars. At my appointment I was told the mouth guard would be $800. I explained over the phone I was told roughly $500 dollars. I was then told they don’t quote over the phone & the price was incorrect. The way they handed the situation and the way I left the centre feeling was terrible.

I've struggled to find a dentist that is right for me since moving from Sydney to Brisbane (I honestly think I had the best dentist in Australia in Sydney). I had a minor dental emergency and was able to book a Sunday appointment and Damian was really so professional and great. Good at making me feel at ease and easily resolved my issue without any fuss. Also he was nice to chat to, which put me at ease. Definitely will be making this dentist my permanent dentist now!

Positive experience: I had a bad experience in National Dental Care Newstead and never went back. It’s 2 years ago, but I think I should clear this up. My partner and I both booked an appointment to do an oral clean in 2021 March. A female dentist met me for this appointment, and she didn’t clean my teeth but instead decided to do a full X-ray of all my teeth and used a needle to stick in every single part of my gums. It was so painful! During the needle poking gum check, she pushes me to book in deep teeth cleaning procedure which costs over 2k. In this appointment, dentist didn’t do any oral clean because my teeth is so bad that oral clean won’t work. She also told me Asian tends to have bad teeth (Shocking) !!! Plus my teeth will fall out if not do deep cleaning procedure. At this stage, my partner finished his oral cleaning and waited for me in reception over 30mins. This was a painful visit and I didn’t expect to get stereotyped and pushes to do a procedure for a simple oral cleaning appointment! We both didn’t end up going back to National Dental Care clinic. I go back to my old dentist to do dental cares now and my teeth haven’t been fall out yet without the procedure. Thanks god for that lol

Fantastic experience: Recently had some work done by Dr Mayra, and it was the most enjoyable experience I've ever had at a dentist. I was so relaxed I fell asleep (no gas needed), and that's never happened to me when laying in the dentist's chair! A very caring and thoughtful dentist.

Fantastic experience: National Dental Care have been looking after my teeth since they opened shop, Kieran was my dentist up to the time he moved to the coast, Matt is now my dentist, we are about half way through some complicated work and I must say both these guys are super stars.

Negative experience: I was disappointed during my recent routine dental examination, clean and x-rays not once did a qualified dentist come in to give me an examination or view my x-rays. In my past visits to this dental practice a dentist would either perform all this work themselves or at least provide a dental examination before or after the clean with a hygienist making sure they have not missed anything during the examination or x-rays. Overall, decent clean but no polish was provided.. friendly staff, but no dentists to be found in this Dental practice.. Edit - Thanks for your reply, and since you're mentioning Alice, I will now refer as such. I am glad Alice is qualified to do such things, however like all other times I have booked an appointment it’s to see an actual dentist and according to your reply Alice is not a dentist. I have never once booked to see Alice or any other type of health provider than a dentist and in fact I always get told "we have booked you in with Dr..." and every time I have booked recently <1.5 years it’s been to see Dr Matt and I was never made aware of this change to see a Oral Health Therapist named Alice. So, no I have not "seen" Alice she has seen me even though I have and always have booked to see a dentist and the past time I was once again booked in to see Dr Matt but nope Alice it is. When my receipt says services provided by Dr Matt... I expect them to be provided by Dr Matt... not a Oral Health Therapist named Alice! Think about it Moreover, I did explain this last time and made it quite clear that I'm there to see a Dentist not a Hygienist or in Alice's case a Oral Health Therapist, and at the least I want a dentist to check everything at the end, so your staff seem to either not be listening to their customers concerns or don't care at all which is a real concern. Reading through your reply of what Alice is qualified to perform and what I had received as an "examination" you have made it much more clearer and affirmed my suspicions of how subpar of a service I received and how terrible my so called "examination" was. So, I will go ahead and amend my rating to reflect the poor service and examination I have received since you have cleared that up for us both. The lack of care regarding my concerns of what I had written in my original review and this past examination service has now reminded me of the following other issues I have had at National Dental Care, Newstead so its only fair I leave the feedback. Regarding Surgery - An awful experience I had at this dental practice in 2019 when I was booked in for a surgery for several months and the surgeon decided to instead go on a holiday without informing anyone or myself to reschedule and I was left without a surgery and date, and I had already taken time off work with zero accountability and the staff didn’t care at all. Regarding Punctuality - Every time I visit this dental practice, they're running late they even once had an emergency and decided to not call me to say "hi, we have had an emergency walk in would it be possible you can please come a little later". Instead, I arrived and had to wait for over an hour to be seen. The patient was already in the chair before I arrived and they only told me the emergency once the dentist was running so late, so they had plenty of time to make a quick phone call prior. Once again, this just shows a lack of customer service and care.

Negative experience: Terrible service. Received a confirmation email of my appointment, but had it cancelled without notification. Receptionist not helpful and extremely rude. AVOID.

Fantastic experience: My girls and I have been going to national dental care for over 5 years now . The team at national dental have always made us feel so welcome and always go above and beyond . We are so thankful for you all .

Negative experience: 7 texts, 3 phone calls, emails EVERYDAY to try and confirm may appointment in the week leading up to my quick initial consult that would then lead up to at least $10,000 in costs in subsequent appointments. More than 24 hours before my appointment (Thursday 9am for a Friday 1pm slot) it was unceremoniously cancelled by text message. Then an immediate email follow up - "If you do not respond to this email we will cancel your appointment" - an hour later it was cancelled. THEN the staff member asked WHY .... WHY did I not respond to their confirmation requests as the dentist would like to know before deciding whether I deserve to keep the appointment or have it rescheduled. HOW DARE YOU! This is supposed to be a professional healthcare company NOT the principal's office at primary school!!! How dare you expect to drag me into the office for an explanation as to why I didn't promptly cater to your ravenous need for this confirmation and to then to feign to be incredulous when I asked why YOU exactly need to be told why and aggressive manner you responded with resulted in the same returned. One gets what they give. But apparently that can only be one-sided. "WHY did you not take the time to meet our demands that will result in us making lots of money from you, you abhorrent customer!!!" Be ashamed how you treat clients at your company!! $10,000 and THIS is the way you treat your customers??!! Disgusting to say the least! Get out of health CARE because you obviously don't know a thing about the CARE part! Money hungry hacks!

Negative experience: Disaster experience from Dr McNamara the unprofessional dentist I’ve never ever seen in my life. I have had a tiny little decay and I was strongly pushed by him to do filling because he said me infection will starting sooner and makes more tooth decay so I listened everything he said and did filling however he screwed up and destroyed my tooth. After the treatment I felt very painful because of bleeding never stopped so I had to go back to NDC again and really needed to discuss with the Dr McNamara but instead of him Dr Matt showed up and Dr Matt gave me choice of options to what I must to do next therefore he suggested me to do refilling and then the root canal treatment at NDC or go to the different dentist and do it. Meantime when I was in the room with Dr Matt, Dr McNamara was walking around the office and doing nothing because there’s no patients were left so he could make a apologise to me at least not just running away like a snake. When Dr Matt gave me a quote for the root canal treatment, I realised and told them “Why Do I Have To Pay?” Your boss is the one who ruined my tooth. They shouldn’t charge me $10000 I mean I felt they are insane. I need my tooth back.

Fantastic experience: This was hands down the best dental experience I’ve ever had. On my first visit I dealt with Dr Bree and she was so lovely and welcoming. She explained everything perfectly and was upfront with how much the procedure would cost and what was involved. On my second visit I dealt with Dr Nish and he made sure that I was extremely comfortable throughout the whole procedure. It was absolutely painless and was over before I knew it. Both dentists were extremely personable and knowledgeable and at no point did I feel like I was just there to get my teeth drilled, I had a great chat to both of them and I highly recommend them to anyone who wants their next dentist visit to be quick and painless!

I was told that my first visit through medibank will be complementary whereas I got charged $56 as an 'extra'. They should have at least informed me about that. Not going there again as I dont appreciate being raughted!

Negative experience: BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS PRACTICE. I had a wisdom tooth extraction done as my tooth was infected. That day I asked if there was anything else wrong with my teeth and I was told that I needed fillings. The extraction was fast but a bit strange 3 days after my extraction my tooth got infected so I rushed back in and I was finally prescribed antibiotics and my consultation was waved for some reason? (strange) Today 5 weeks later I returned to the practice again as I noticed that area of my tooth wasn't healed properly and I had a lump at the area of the surgery. THIS TIME I was told that I needed a root canal and one of my tooth is infected BUT I SAID I WAS GONNA GET ANOTHER OPINION. When Speaking to the Receptionist/ Manager about my situation she mentioned it is completely normal for Dentists to have different opinions and She made me pay for that appointment. Pros friendly staff and clean facilities- cons they will never tell you how much it will cost you until the very last minute.

Fantastic experience: I attended National Dental Care with wisdom teeth pain and extraction. Easily accessible location and a nice modern clinic with a designated and fun-looking children's space. Upon arrival, staff were welcoming and friendly. I arrived early and the Dentist was able to take me through sooner than my appointment which settled a lot of nerves. I was booked in with Dr Kieran who had a fantastic bedside manner, explained the whole procedure to me in a way I could understand, and completed the extraction quick and pain free. A great experience at National Dental Care - would highly recommend!

Negative experience: Good dentists. But this is a clinic that will cancel your appointment if they do not receive a confirmation from you. There is nothing in any of their communications with you that suggests this is their default practice. Doesn't matter that both parties have already agreed to a set date and time for the appointment well in advance. If you do not confirm on the day, you lose your appointment. Their this practice also contradicts the text of their SMS. Their SMS states that "Missed fees may apply" if you miss an appointment. This clearly suggests that your appointment will be kept even if you don't confirm, but if you do not make your appointment you will be charged a "missed fee", which is fair enough. This clinic needs to change its practice. If I say I'll be there, I'll be there unless I explicitly tell you I can no longer make it.

Negative experience: If i could give this any less than 1 star I would. Let me preface this by saying I had no pain, and was doing a checkup after 1 year, and in that prior checkup I had required 1 filling. Dr Chirali Patel was awful. I was told I needed multiple fillings which were done in two bouts. The first bout was okay... only until the next day where my face was completely swollen, I came back a few days later to be told it was probably infection even though there were no other symptoms and I was prescribed antibiotics. There was a lot of feeling around but nothing was found or seen so it was almost like a "lets just try this solution" in relation to being given antibiotics. The remaining fillings were completed and my other side of my face swelled also. The swelling lasted for over 1 month on both sides. The worst of it was that my mouth was in constant agony following this, for almost 3 months. I found another dentist who performed a replacement filling on one of my brand new fillings and a root canal on one of them. The pain did not end there. I went to a doctor eventually and it turned out there was a blockage in my cheek due to a nick from an injection. I would never wish the discomfort and pain I experienced for 3 months on anyone, even my worst enemy. If you go here, do not see Dr Chirali Patel.

Negative experience: I had no issues with my teeth, just decided to go for a check up. The dentist said that I need to fix the teeth that was giving me no problem. She proceeded to fix them, within a couple of days I was experiencing pain from those teeth and had to go back to the dentist twice and still had problem, I had to go to another dentist, pay again and get them fixed again. Unfortunatly due to my poor experience, I do not recommend this place to anyone.

Lauren at the front of house was able to close the deal and I got a sense the team at National Dental actually cared. Well done, I’ll be sending my kids next time!

Fantastic experience: Just saw Marta today for a check up and clean. It was by far the best experience I have had visiting a dentist. Being 37 weeks pregnant I was a little nervous but the team took me in straight away, no waiting and Marta was so gentle and kind. Also love the little goodie bag and received a little toothbrush for baby.

Fantastic experience: I went in to have an old amalgam filling removed and replaced, so was a little concerned about the process and possibly the pain. Marta has a wonderfully calming and reassuring presence and made me feel very settled and informed about the process. It all went very well and i'm so happy with my new tooth! Thank you to all the staff i interacted with. It was a pleasant experience. PS it didn't hurt!

Negative experience: Unfortunately my second experience at NDC was so traumatic that I will probably never go there again. It took 3 doses of local anaesthetic and 45 minutes to numb the area for a simple lower molar filling. This has never happened to me before. Five hours later, my head is throbbing from the anaesthetic obviously, but some of it is wearing off in some places - all I can feel is the pain of where the needle went into my gum - nowhere near the actual filling itself. To add to the pain, the filling is raised because of the rush to finish the job due to the delay in the local taking effect - so now I need to go back or go elsewhere to get the filling ground down. Not sure whether this was due to a new product used to numb the area - regardless, it was not a pleasant experience.
