Fantastic experience: I have been a patient at Lifetime Dental for several years. I was travelling twice a year from Geelong as a holistic dentist is important to me. Dr Ben was so caring and supportive during my 4 amalgam extractions and biocompatible fillings. Unfortunately, I can no longer attend the clinic for general dentistry as the price is now out of reach for me. I still travel for my cleans with Kris though and the new technology that is so much less painful and distressing for me (and my very sensitive teeth and gums). Kris has been such a big part of my gum healing. Her care and patience has enabled me to heal gum disease, by doing very deep cleans and being so patient and caring in what I found to be a highly distressing process. Kris really helped me get through these. This care plus my own healing practices has prevented me from having to undergo surgery with a specialist. I have healed my gums fully and can now sit through a teeth clean without my whole mouth being numbed! I'm so happy with my progress and extremely grateful to Kris. She goes over and beyond

They have a very progressive approach and the focus on preventative and holistic dentistry is what drew me to booking with them initially. Fantastic experience: I've been seeing Dr Darby for quite a few years now, and I couldn't recommend him more. He's very precise in his work and always takes the time to explain every step clearly. I really appreciate how honest he is, he always gives realistic advice. The whole experience professional and relaxed, and he genuinely cares about patients.

Negative experience: Damaged my mouth sooo badly! Ben Olstein proceeded to do bridge when I wanted an implant instead. He placed ill fitting bridge and cracked healthy tooth. I kept on going back saying I cannot eat and cannot sleep, that my bite is completely wrong, to which he replied, you’ll get used to it and kept on filing down one of the bridges crowns until it was sharp cutting my cheek and could see the middle part black material. He didn’t want to take any responsibility, although gave me refund saying - it’s out of goodwill and no pre-justice can be taken. I took the money cos I need to extract the tooth and do an implant. I’ll add photos, cos this is not ok!!!! I’ve lost extra tooth due to his mistakes! I wish I never went there And what is the world is that silver material onlay he did on the other tooth while putting the bridge? I thought holistic dentist wouldn’t use mercury products?

Fantastic experience: Charlie is a very attentive, dedicated dentist who has given me the most pain free sleep dental treatment. Teaming up with an amazing anaesthetist, and nursing staff. I have very difficult teeth, and to be able to get most of my teeth attended to at once and pain free is simply magic.

Fantastic experience: 15 years of outstanding care & after care, yes Ive receive a call the following day to check how I am after the previous day’s treatment. Amazing!! On the subject of Holistic dentistry, I went in to see him with a tooth ache & after a few tests, Dr Darby, remembering that I have regular Chiropractic care, asked to speak to my Chiropractor. After consulting with her it was clear to him why I had jaw pain & he said my teeth were not the cause of the pain & suggested I return to see her,. When do you ever go to a dentist with a tooth ache that they don’t automatically start taking X-rays or drilling, and think outside the box to what the bigger picture could be. Dr Darby not only saved me unnecessary costs & procedures that day but insured I received the holistic care I required. So I highly recommend Lifetime Dental & Dr CHRIS Darby for true Holistic Dentistry.

Fantastic experience: Diagnosed as suffering with Osteoradionecrosis after my Radiotherapy and a poorly executed extraction in UK. Lifetime Dental organised surgery within 24 hrs. Can only say excellent service and hopefully all dead bone has now been cut away, and like my Oseophagus cancer it’s all in the past.

Fantastic experience: I had been putting off some major dental work for a few years because of horrible previous experience with another dentist It seems silly now, between Dr Charlie's steady hands and the anaesthesiologist making sure I was asleep throughout - having multiple teeth removed was far less painful than I could have even imagined!

Fantastic experience: Was after a holistic dental practice/ dentist and through my own research came across Lifetime Dental and Chris Darby. Came in for a second opinion/consult with Chris and instead of getting me to sit in the dreaded dental chair first up, we sat at his desk and talked all things life and then dental. He talked me through everything and explained it all so well + answered any questions. I also needed a clean before some treatment and a slot opened up about an hour after my initial appointment so I explained to the girls I’d wait around and go get a coffee. Once I said this, they shouted me my coffee at their local cafe around the corner which I thought was an awesome touch. Have been so happy and impressed with the dental practice as a whole from Chris to all the girls at the front desk, they even rang me the day after some treatment to see how I was feeling. He treats you holistically as he addresses any anxieties you may have with the treatment. Most importantly he doesn’t just do the drill and fill, he gives you the opportunity to heal your teeth naturally if the decay hasn’t gone deep into the dentin. Fantastic experience: Dr. Chris Darby has been pivotal in creating positive relationships with my 2 boys and their dental health. He has created a fun, trusting and safe space, they LOVE going to the dentist. Dr. Darby was able to find the least intrusive way to heal my young son's dental problems (another "child specialist clinic" wanted to put him under and quoted thousands...) We now drive almost an hour each way, well and truly worth the drive thank you!

Notably, the clinic promotes natural oral care products, aligning with my needs due to intolerances and reactions to conventional toothpaste and astringent found in stores. Although pricey, I find these natural alternatives effective.

Fantastic experience: I had my teeth cleaned by the hygienist Christine. Christine was her usual happy helpful self & made feel right at ease with the procedure. She offered extra advice & clearly explained some the benefits of using the recommended mouthwash, which I’m happy to say I purchased. It’s pricy but after Christine’s information I’m confident it is worth it.

Fantastic experience: I googled Lifetime dental looking for an holistic dentist, I didn't want any anaesthetic or fluoride, I wanted to take the natural approach. I hit the jackpot. Great staff from the receptionists in Rosie the manager in Steph and of course the dentists. Absolutely loved Julia, she listened and did exactly what I asked for with my teeth. Dr. Darby went out of his way to help when Julia couldn't be there. What a great team. Highly recommend them to anyone.

Fantastic experience: An urgent need to fix an ache that turned out to be a crack under a crown. As usual Ben was straight to the problem with quick X ray analysis. Old crown out , crack also gone and temporary crown in and back soon for a NEW one. No pain. Ben is my tooth protector. Rosie as always is welcoming and so helpful. She also doubles as a fantastic traffic director out in the driveway.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic surgery, would highly recommend. The dentists always prioritise keeping as much of your natural tooth as possible and will not do something that isn't needed. Wonderful with children, my daughter has had a few fillings done here and is in and out within a few minutes and it's been completely pain free. The hygienist is amazing also. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. Doesn't come cheap, but you get what you pay for, it's worth it!

Fantastic experience: I have been to this dentist twice now and am very happy with my experiences. First time was with Dr Chris who was really great and so thorough. He really did look through a holistic lens which I appreciated a lot and he suggested I see a specialist before getting my teeth straightened to deal with a more complex issue. Second time I saw Dr Charlie for a general check up and clean and he was also very friendly and I had a good experience with him.

Negative experience: Dr Chris Darby and Dr Julia Nguyen originally both gave me trust on their professionalism. Was seeking ortho treatment options from Darby and he explained well, while Nguyen did my routine scale and clean. Later found out the tooth was misshaped after a 'simple filling' as per Nguyen. Sent a genuine feedback on this situation and hoped she would consider the patient's condition HOLISTICALLY in the future before shaving off a patient's tooth, but instead, got told to contact ADA. All I wanted was just trying to understand my condition from her POV and even asked if she could draw a diagram to indicate the fillings done on my tooth because it was at the back, nope, refused to explain further. Never mention refund or ask for claims, while she already typed a letter about claims to the ADA. Didn't even have time to mention the tooth is now half smooth half rough, clearly didn't polish after a reckless enameloplasty. Also got picked on the word 'enameloplasty' because it wasn't a real tooth, and asked me if I take pictures of my teeth everyday. The receptionists were all very lovely though...what a shame.

Fantastic experience: Talent, Patience, & Expertise = Dr Darby I had the pleasure of meeting Chris many years ago and to this day there is no one that comes close to matching his authenticity and razor sharp skill set. Wishing Chris and all his team a magic 2021. Regards John

Negative experience: Some years ago I visited Chris Darby's clinic with the hope of improving the aesthetic appearance of my Teeth, which were healthy and they weren’t in a critical situation either. I thought the whole treatment won’t take more than a year, however Doctor Chris sold me another additional treatment that according to him I also need. So I decided to trust him and get all those treatments he mentioned hoping to achieve a good results . But after three months I started to feel a lot of pain. It turns out that one of the procedures he performed on me killed the nerve of one of my front teeth, when I asked him about it his answer was “this is something that could happen “ ok ? So can you fix it ? his answer was : yes but you have to pay for the root canal treatment and I will give you the teeth whitening for free, it didn’t sound fair to me as it was his fault for putting too much pressure on my teeth however I ended up paying for it. I paid all the instalments of my treatment on time despite I was very disappointed with the results. Later on I asked him when my treatment would finish and he told me that before October 2021 so I trusted him one more time. On September 2021 I told him that I wasn’t happy with the results obtained after going through such a traumatic and expensive treatment and his answer was: “ Ana you have to pay for another treatment if you want to get what you wanted “ So I felt so frustrated as The whole treatment didn’t make a single difference on my mouth, I wasted my time and part of my health by trusting him. So I decided not to go to the last appointment to get my braces removed and I decided to seek help elsewhere to get a second opinion. Indeed, in other places they confirmed that I needed orthodontics again, that my bite and aesthetically had not turned out well after having undergone treatment. Please Avoid this clinic and specially doctor Chris he was very unprofessional and they only want to make money. I am Very disappointed with his service . I have pictures of my mouth before and after and you can clearly see the treatment didn’t work plus I ended up having a dead tooth .

Negative experience: Receptionist were very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, that was not the case with Chris Darby. A dentist can give advice, but should never force someone to take their advice. I decided to get a second opinion, at another dental practice... And what a huge difference. The girls who assisted me were very professional The service was also much cheaper, and I wasn't forced. Reading the other negative reviews, confirms what I have experienced unprofessionalism.

Negative experience: That one star ( wish I could give less) is for Chris Darby ; not the most professional dentist I have ever seen, overpriced , promises you the starts and delivers dust . Save your Money and time and frustration because life is too short .

Fantastic experience: I booked in with Dr Chris Darby after being recommended by family - and it was the best decision I have made for my health. In my first appointment, he spent an hour discussing my general health and concerns, and educating me in the connection they may have to my mouth/jaw/teeth - he listened more than any doctor ever has. For the first time, a dentist was able to explain to me why I have an open bite, get me into a sleep study to explore my chronic sleep issues, and pointed me in the direction of specialised practitioners to help with my other health concerns. The follow-up appointment connected me with a speech pathologist to support my road to better health - and Sarah Wilmot is amazing - helped me to correct my tongue thrust, better my posture and my balance (as well as gave me some tips to help me in my teaching!). He explains the connections between things, and explores different methods to achieve results, and is overall interested in supporting me to achieve better health - not just for my teeth, but in any way possible. I wish I had found him years ago!

Thank you all for seeing me on such short notice and fixing me up! Edited to add: I’ve just read previous reviews and wow, I’ve always had the opposite experience to the negative ones left. I had pain in a filling I had previously had done with Chris and the clinic got me in the very next day for an emergency app, on the way there (as I come from 1.5 hours away just to see Chris) there was an accident on the Westgate and it looked like I was going to be late. I called to let the clinic know if they wanted me to reschedule but they were lovely about it! Told me to take my time and they’d fit me in when I got there. I was nearly half an hour late and Chris fit me in and didn’t rush me out either. Definitely not about the money at this clinic, I always get an honest and reasonable opinion from Chris & let’s face it, if you want a holistic dentist that cares about your overall health; you should be willing to pay for the extra attention. Will never go anywhere else!

Fantastic experience: My wife had a phobia about going to the dentist and had stopped going for 10 years. Friends suggested Dr Chris Darby extremely highly and so we both made an appointment. He asked us if we had any concerns and we told him our situation and he customized our care accordingly. My wife needed a filling but really was uncomfortable with needles etc. Dr Chris was great and gave us options, a small application of numbing gel and shortly after she couldn't feel the injection at all. I'd never even heard of such a thing but when it came to my turn it was great that he did not assume I had the same concern so when offered I simply declined the gel. I also love that he tells you your full dental needs and then you discuss the priorities of most urgent, more cosmetic and also balancing our budget. We will be coming back again.

Negative experience: We are new to this clinic and decided to try it after trying to replace it with a holistic dentist. First visit went well, Dr Chris seemed very thorough. However after treatment my husband Daniel Duna had pain and cannot chew where Dr Chris carried out treatment. The last straw for me was the clinic called to move his appointment forward and my husband accepted to come a few weeks early. However my husband was running a little late due to a crash on the freeway. After calling the clinic to let them know, they cancelled his appointment and didn't accept his offer that he would wait until he could be seen, seeing as they close at 8pm on a Tuesday. He also mentioned that he couldn't chew on the side where work was carried out at the previous visit however the receptionist didn't seem to care about that or the fact that we have to travel nearly 2 hours to get to their clinic. In other words tough luck. I'm hoping Dr Chris reads this review and will endeavour to treat patients with a little more sympathy. I understand he is running a busy practice however there are things beyond human control on the roads and all in all not very happy with this clinic. As some previous reviews mention it seems to be all about the money not the patient.

Fantastic experience: Dr Chris Darby was without doubt the best and most thorough dentist I have ever seen. I feel like, by comparison, no other dentist has ever actually 'cared' before. Dr Darby sat me down for a thorough case history, education and information session before even putting me 'into the chair', discussing the impact of various mouth issues on sleep, breathing, posture, and general health. It was so refreshing to see someone who actually recognises that the mouth is a part of the whole body. He spent 10 minutes teaching me how to brush and floss properly, which no other dentist has ever done, and already within 3 days my gums have stopped bleeding. While on the expensive side of dentists ($203 for an initial ~60min consultation + 2 x-rays), I would call this money very well spent!

Fantastic experience: Dr George is wonderful. I owe Dr George a big thank-you for helping me overcome the stress and anxiety that can be associated with a visit to the dentist. He is patient, caring and highly experienced. I also recommend his sleep dentistry.

Fantastic experience: My little sister suffers from severe anxiety and Dr. George and his staff were so patient and caring and kept her calm enough to get her treatment done. They did an excellent job on her teeth and I would recommend this dentistry to anyone and everyone!

Fantastic experience: I recently attended Lifetime Holistic Dental for a general examination, it had been about 18 months since my last check up due to living overseas. The level of service provided by Dr. Chris Darby during my appointment was unparalleled; he demonstrated great dental care, expertise and addressed all my questions and concerns. I learned more about my teeth than I have in 10 years and was very well looked after. Chris provides exceptional service, I could not recommend another dentist in Melbourne more highly.

Fantastic experience: Great Staff, helpful, professional, nurturing, putting you at ease from the moment you enter their warmly lit rooms. Comfortable environment and personable dentists; a complete and wonderfully surprising, a refreshing change from the modern septic feel of most dentist's offices. If you've ever thought negatively about or more likely feared a dentist, this is the antithesis of any fright or panic you may have ever had. I've travelled around the world and can easily state, they are the best.
