Fantastic experience: Dr Sam is very patient and considerate to my needs as someone who hadn't been going to the dentist regularly, because I was scared of the dentist from previous visits to other dentists. Not any more, I have been a few times now and it's an enjoyable appointment every time, I need to get a new filling and I not worried as I know I am in good hands. I couldn't recommend Dr Sam highly enough.

Fantastic experience: My 2-year-old daughter went for a check-up. Dr. Terry clearly explained the entire process and answered all my questions. Fantastic experience: What an awesome experience I had at this dentist! I was booked in with Sam to get a tooth removed. I felt very relaxed and he was calm, patient and understanding. He didn’t make me feel judged but rather tackled the problem at hand. He talked me through the whole process and it was pain free. Fantastic experience: I can’t recommend the team at Platypus Dental highly enough! Whilst all of the staff are incredibly professional and friendly Dr Terry (Yi Pu) sets the standard in his practice for the team, leading with patience, compassion, and utmost care in the way he deals with his patients and the way he carries out the work. I took my father into Terry as he was highly recommended, and my father’s dental condition required utmost care. Terry did his initial dental check and they established that they would remove all of his teeth and create top and bottom dentures. Terry took his time with us to explain every step of the process before the procedure, during and what was required of the post procedure care, and follow up appointments to ensure everything was healing correctly and if any adjustments were required. The practice manager, Lauren followed up on the recovery process following the procedure and provided alternative options for post surgery and dental care providing flexibility as we live approximately an hour away. Whilst the procedure was daunting on our end, the team created an environment that was calm and the dentures turned out amazing! We were so pleased with the outcome, the teeth weren’t too white that they looked fake, Dr Terry colour matched old photos of my dads teeth with his skin colour that it all looked natural, giving my dad some of his confidence back and I am so appreciative of his care that was taken both in a professional manner and on a personal level.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Dr Terry and the team at Platypus dental, I required a night guard as I grind my teeth whilst sleeping. Prior to attending Platypus Dental I had an unfortunate experience at another clinic where a night guard was made but it didn't sit comfortably within my mouth and after multiple attempts at them fixing it I came across Platypus Dental. The night guard Terry had made for me, fits perfectly like a glove and is comfortable to sleep with, protecting my teeth and preventing any pain caused by grinding and clenching. Terry was thorough and has an attention to detail which we were looking for in a dentist. The service was great and the entire team is also friendly, like Dr Terry

Negative experience: I do not recommend Platypus Dental. We had a disappointing experience with both my child’s and my wife’s treatments. I took my child for a check-up and filling, but the gap made by the dentist was too large. As a result, the filling has fallen out four times in just six months. This has made it difficult to maintain proper oral hygiene and has been extremely frustrating. My wife’s treatment also did not go well. She was supposed to have sufficient time for her appointment, but the clinic suddenly rescheduled her to a different date, which forced her into a rushed session. During the appointment, the staff were rude and unprofessional. Once we had made the payment, it felt like they no longer took responsibility for the outcome. Additionally, their prices are higher than other clinics, yet the quality of service does not match the cost. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Platypus Dental.

Negative experience: My Experience with Dr. Terry’s Dental Implant Treatment I received two dental implants from Dr. Terry. Unfortunately, the experience has been extremely disappointing and painful. After undergoing two bone graft surgeries, Dr. Terry said my gums had healed well and the X-rays looked good—so proceed with the implants. However, during the final stage when the crowns were placed, the surgery became extremely painful. Dr. Terry admitted that one of the cover screws hadn’t been tightened properly, which changed the shape of the gum and made it difficult to fit the crown. That explained why I felt painful and uncomfortable from 7/4 Once the crowns were placed, I immediately felt discomfortable. The crowns are too high, pressing against the gum, causing the pain and sensitivity to hot and cold. On top of that, the design makes it impossible to use an interdental brush, so cleaning is very difficult. I suspected this has led to gum inflammation, which could cause the implants to fail at any time. I paid over $13,600 for the treatment. After the final payment, I noticed a clear change in Dr. Terry’s attitude. It felt like he was more concerned about his own feelings than actually resolving the problems I was experiencing. When I returned for a review appointment to address the pain, I didn’t receive any practical help. Instead, we talked in circles for almost an hour. Dr. Terry repeated—more than six times—that “adjusting the crown could cause new problems.” I spent nearly an hour explaining exactly where the crown needed to be adjusted to reduce the pain and allow for proper cleaning. I was open and willing to try, but he never explained what was actually causing the pain or made any effort to fix it. I felt hopeless, and I broke down in tears during the appointment. Later, I received an email saying Dr. Terry was discussing the issue with his colleagues, it made me feel he doesn’t really know why cause issues hot and cold sensitive. instead of offering a solution or let patient know what caused issue. He referred me to another dentist and did not want to fix it. —claiming that my concerns made him feel “uncomfortable” and that I had questioned his professionalism. Dental Inplant surgery from him, when issues appeared, there is no service and help. This is not how any patient should be treated—especially after making such a large financial and emotional investment. If the implants fail due to crown too high, won’t be able to clean cause gum infection, who will take responsibility? Dr. Terry has already made it clear that he won’t. ⸻ ⚠️ Warning for Other Patients Before committing to a full payment, make sure your treatment is successful. You have the right to pay only after the issue is fully resolved. Could even pay after review appointment. Dr. Terry requires you to sign a form stating that even if your dental treatment fails, he has no responsibility. That means he can make mistakes—and still walk away with your money.

Fantastic experience: I went to see Dr Terry last Saturday. He is a really amazing dentist. He is very professional and I have a wonderful experience. My top right wisdom tooth need to be removed. Due to the size and the angle of the wisdom tooth, it is quite hard to pull. The dentist I normally visited couldn't help and suggested me to do an oral & facial surgery by a dental specialist. I am lucky I made the appointment with Dr Terry. He pulled out my wisdom tooth in 3 minutes without any pain. He is very gentle and I am looking forward for my next appointment with platypus.

Fantastic experience: A modern friendly practice with all the latest equipment. Dr Terry did a checkup, clean and one filling and all is good! It's also dog friendly but the vet does his teeth!

Fantastic experience: After reading so many glowing reviews about Platypus Dental at Strathpine, I decided to give them a try—and now I’m happy to add my own praise to the mix. I was quite apprehensive about needing major dental work (a tooth implant), but Dr. Terry (Yi Pu) immediately put me at ease with his friendly and reassuring demeanour. He took the time to thoroughly explain the entire implant process, using photos, videos, and 3D imaging to ensure I fully understood each step. It was clear that dental implants are one of his areas of expertise, and his confidence and knowledge, delivered in such a personable way, made me feel completely at ease. When I made the decision to proceed with the implant, I felt reassured that I was in highly capable hands. Now, having undergone the first stage of the procedure, I’m pleased to say the experience was almost entirely pain-free! I was kept informed at every stage, and to my surprise, I hardly felt any of my usual anxiety or nerves. If you’re looking for a friendly dentist who truly cares about providing his patients with a professional and expert service, with the highest standards of hygiene, look no further than Dr. Terry and his team at Platypus Dental. Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Platypus dental highly enough. I was referred almost 12 months ago for an implant consult, however I am a rare and complex case, so I am ineligible for implant. What I did receive was thorough, caring, detailed advice and recommendations rather than just a quick fix and a wave off. They take the time to explain every option and question while always leaving the choice to the patient. This has resulted in me transitioning to a full patient to continue ongoing consults and treatments. I live about an hour away, but the commute is absolutely worth it to be treated by the knowledgeable, respectful staff at Platypus dental, who will look after your oral health and wellbeing with the upmost quality. Fantastic experience: Dr Terry, Lauren and the team are highly customer focussed, they are very kind and caring and you will not find a better dentist in the area. Fantastic experience: Never had a better doctor/dentist appointment experience than I've had at Platypus Dental. No feeling of the Dr. trying to rush you out the door for their next appointment, no pushing to get you to book your next appointment 6 months in advance and no pressure for unnecessary dental procedures just to rinse your wallet. Both Dr. Terry and Sam Chan actually listened to my concerns and it genuinely felt like they were there to help me with my dental care and not just take my money. That dreaded feeling of returning to the dentist has all but vanished with my experience with Platypus Dental. This is the only dentist I'd recommend anyone go to.

Fantastic experience: i have previously traumatic experience about dentist but all disappeared after seeing Dr Sam and his crew. Great place and Affordable price for teeth removal. I recommend Sam is great for Kids. i would like to little suggestion about if there playing soft music background will be less anxiety rather than drilling sound.

Fantastic experience: I had Dr Sam this afternoon for an emergency tooth extraction, his assistant was absolutely lovely and I cannot fault Dr Sam at all. Fantastic experience: I had quite extensive work on my teeth and a denture made so there were a lot of visits to Platypus Dental. Terry was very professional yet personable, made me very relaxed, always happy and explained in detail what was involved . His pricing I found to be reasonable. Fantastic experience: Unique,individualised, out of the box, model of care. Staff at this practice go out of their way to assist in decreasing the anxiety, one may feel when attending a dental surgery. Nothing was to much trouble. A very through examination, with a runing explanation of each step of the treatment was given by Dr Terry. The cost was was far less than I was expecting. Lauren (practice manager was pleasant, calm and it was very evident on the onset she was very experienced in this area. Would not hesitate recommending this practice to anyone. Sandra Jones

Fantastic experience: Excellent Dentist. My family and I discovered Dr Pu at another practice. He's gone out on his own and established his own practice. We (our large family) followed him there and are glad we did. He is great to deal with. He has studied hard and can also do implants. He takes the time to explain things. Also, the practice manager (Lauren) is extremely competent and lovely to deal with. She even phoned a couple of days after a procedure to check in. When is the last time you experienced that? Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I have followed Terry from his previous practice and could not be happier with the service he and his team provide. I have been on the long journey of dental implants and have experienced nothing but joy throughout each stage of the process. My pain has been at unexpected minimal bearable levels which is quite amazing considering the work involved in this process. Terry has been awesome, planning and explaining the process in understable language and details. Terry, Lauren and his staff have been very welcoming and friendly on every visit nothing is ever an issue. I can not recommend this team highly enough. I will remain a very satisfied customer for as long as Terry is in practice.

Positive experience: Dr Terry and Lauren were great, funny and nice to talk to. The team is lovely! I found myself swallowing some things I think the assistant could have used suction for, like I have experienced in other practices, but that doesn’t take much away from how wonderful Platypus is. Hope to come here next time:)

Fantastic experience: I went with my 2 more aged parents to Platypus Dental. The receptionist was very friendly and polite. The dentist saw us one by one, he started with an inspection. Then performed a clean, he was gentle and it was relatively comfortable. A bonus was that he was polite to his dental assistant! Then he did a second inspection and raised some issues with practical solutions, not just trying to do as many procedures as possible which I hate! Equal service was given to my parents where an emergency surgery was needed and completed. Mum was especially happy. Overall the dentist was patient, honest and thorough with his work. Thats all I require from this service.

Fantastic experience: I had my first appointment today with Nishi and I must say it was the best experience I have ever had at a dentist. I will be back doing regular check ups. The atmosphere and service was excellent.

Fantastic experience: Booked in with Dr Nishi for my check-up; she was outstanding. A consummate professional who went out of her way to explain what was going on and made the entire dental experience so pleasant. I’ll be sure to come back, and I’d recommend this place in a heart beat. Great staff! Astoundingly designed, comforting and welcoming clinical environment. The atmosphere of this practice would be difficult to best.
