Fantastic experience: Can’t praise Ballarat Smile Studio enough, especially Dr.Budhwar. They go above and beyond creating a perfect smile. Greeted by happy smiling staff who offer a beverage on arrival. I absolutely recommend

Negative experience: I paid $56,000 for an All-on-4 procedure at Smile Studio Ballarat under Dr Vadana Budhwar in 2022. Over the next two years the prosthetics repeatedly fractured from acrylic, porcelain, to zirconia, and even the titanium bar itself broke. Each time I had to wait weeks for replacements, leaving me with painful cuts and ulcers. I also missed business meetings and social events because the prosthetics would move or come loose while speaking which I found to embarrassing. only bottom zirconia prosthetics were being fitted but did not match the existing teeth properly, Dr Vandana Budhwar said they will match when they fir the new top ones in a few day, when I got home I realise that they didn't match because there was only 10 teeth on the bottom instead of 12 like the top. Dr Vandana Budhwar lied straight to my face about the fact that she reduced my set to 10 teeth instead of 12.. At one point, the zirconia bridge even fractured while being fitted by Vandana Budhwar. This process caused me ongoing physical pain and emotional distress for 2 years. I eventually went to another All-on-4 clinic for a second opinion. They examined the existing titanium bars and found they were not manufactured with enough accuracy or precision. The bars did not fit the implant posts properly, which created gaps and tension when the screws were tightened. On the lower bridge this tension also caused cracks in the acrylic. The dentist concluded that the bars were “not of the highest quality and not manufactured to high levels of precision” and recommended making new ones. The new clinic manufactured precise titanium bars for both upper and lower bridges and fitted new prosthetics. I have now had these in place for over a year without a single problem. so Clearly Dr Vandana Budhwar from Smile Studio Ballarat is not competent enough to be involved in all on 4 procedures, she even blamed the surgeon that performed the implant operation Dr Hillel New, saying he didn't do the operation properly and that he had made other mistakes with other patients, she even when as far as saying that she could have done a better job. I am sharing this so others considering treatment can make fully informed decisions.

Fantastic experience: I’m so very glad that I did my research before going ahead and having All on 4 done top & bottom 3 months ago, I cannot praise and recommend Dr Vandana Budhwar enough for her expertise in such a complex field of dentistry, she’s a very caring and down to earth Dr, she explains everything so well, that if you feel a bit anxious, she’ll reassure you in a very positive manner. If anyone is considering having the All on 4 procedure done, I can assure you it was the best decision I’ve made, I had a fair bit of pain for maybe 3 days, but the pain meds that were prescribed for me, took the edge off the pain and by day 10 I wasn’t even taking Panadol, I just wish that I’d done it years ago when it was first available, I’d had a partial denture for so many years and to be rid off it is amazing, so I was never considering dentures, I know it’s costly, but to love to smile and show off your amazing teeth is the best feeling ever . Also the staff at SS/B are fantastic

Fantastic experience: I found smile amazing. I got all on 4 for my top teeth. They organised for a 3rd party to get my super released. They took great care of me on the day and after care has been amazing. Highly recommend. I love my new smile and that I can eat food properly again. Love my implants. Not as painful as I thought either.

Negative experience: I will not be going ahead with my future appointments here. I initially sent through to the dentist what my goal was to achieve which was to have a clean and a consult in preparation for a treatment plan for both myself and my son to straighten our teeth. The dentist completed the clean ( half of it ) and said I was to return for a second clean and to take impressions/ photos etc. I asked why I needed to return as I had booked for them to be done at this appointment - in that she stated there wasn’t enough time. This confused me considering I was clear in my booking what I was booking for. So after the charge for this appointment I returned and paid again for the second appointment. (Mind you my sons fee was $250 for the dentist to literally look at his teeth - not take any impressions or photos and literally brush his teeth with a bristled tool) Moving forward at the end of the second appointment the dentist suggested she would consult with her colleague and get back to me regarding the plan moving forward. 4 weeks went by and I hadn’t heard anything, I waited patiently until I decided I’d just touch base to make sure I hadn’t been forgotten. To which the reply suggested that when the dentist returned to work in two days time that I would get some feedback by the end of the week. No worries, I’m good with that. They did not contact me. Based on this I have become concerned in putting my faith in them if they can not communicate with their clients. I emailed advising that I wouldn’t be proceeding with my explanation in the kindest way and thanked them for their work to date. It seems they have read my email, ignored it and have chosen not to follow up. This tells me one thing. They don’t value their clients.

Fantastic experience: First time patient hear, Dr Rowena and her assistant were absolutely brilliant!! Very pleasant to deal with, more importantly very patient with my questions and competent. The clinic and team as the whole were also just as good. Great deal and prices, everyone was great to deal with, everything went smooth as! They did all imaging (X-ray, opg) in house, very convenient! So much better than some of the other clinics in Ballarat with big names, that I've been to. P.s. there is a PlayStation 3 in the wait room you can play, get there early! Or if you got kids, they'd be more than happy to wait there for however long it takes!

Fantastic experience: From walking in the door at SSB I immediately felt welcome. Reception staff are lovely and I was quickly at ease with Dr Adi and the wonderful nurses. They are really amazing at what whey do and I'm really grateful to them for creating such a great environment to come too. Validated explanation with photos, X-ray and gave options for treatment moving forward. Such a relaxed and pain free appointment, both physically and cost-wise. Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic! Since childhood I have had problems with my bite. In recent years it has caused extensive chipping of my front teeth. I went to SMILE in Alfredton thinking the only option would be expensive “All on Four” or troublesome dentures. Michael was brilliant recommending I keep my own teeth and he would fill my remaining teeth to improve my bite and appearance. The procedure was quite long but with minimal discomfort. Surprisingly the cost was very reasonable. The result was unbelievable, my wife is so impressed and the photos are all the proof anyone could need. I cannot wait to get the bottom repaired also I highly recommend Michael at SMILE Alfredton

Negative experience: Do not go to this dentist if you have any kind of anxiety disorder. It is NOT a safe practice for people with anxiety and treated my son with total contempt. After paying them thousands of dollars up front to have him sedated for an operation, the anesthesiologist didn't like that my son (adult) was taking time to compose himself to get in the consulting room and arbitrarily cancelled the procedure. No amount of begging him would change his mind. He was arrogant and had NO interest in the trauma he was inflicting. Didn't give a toss. My son had no other way of having this operation done and had already waited 18 months to find a solution. It is NOT "specially designed" for anxious people at all.

Fantastic experience: I’m always a little nervous seeing a new dentist but Dr Ady was amazing. He listened to my concerns and was so patient with me. He explained each detail carefully and made sure that I understood what and why he was doing certain things. The dentist is not pleasant for a lot of people but Dr Ady made the experience so much better!

Fantastic experience: Cannot recommend the team at Smile studio highly enough. Right from booking with the friendly reception team through to Dr Sawant and Brydie the dental nurse. I have suffered from dental anxiety all my adult life since traumatic childhood experiences, but Dr Sawant was able to make this such a brilliant experience…. I actually can’t wait to go back! Thorough explanation, options given and reassuring all through my double appointnents. Negative experience: If zero stars was an option you would have to make a public apology to get it. You subjected a person with disabilities and their carer to pillory in your waiting room. You patronized and demeaned both a disabled person and their carer. It was made abundantly clear to you well in advance what the situation was and you agreed to it. You were completely unprepared, unprofessional, uncaring, rude and frankly not up to the task of even talking to someone with a disability. The only person who had even the faintest idea was the Dentist. I apologise I didn't catch your name but I would like to thank you for trying to help. As for Lyn, the Anesthesiologist and the other nurse... You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Positive experience: All the staff and my Dr Sawant made me feel like I mattered for the first time. They are kind and caring. I recommend them to anyone looking for a dentist that honestly cares about you as a person and all your dental needs.

The nurses were very understanding of my nerves and always greeted with me with a smile, they made sure the experience was as easy as they could of course and never left me unaware of what was happening. Negative experience: Initial examination by dentist at smiles of my wife Carol's teeth? 6 teeth needed to be extracted and others needed filling. My wife continued with severe pain, reattended Smiles on 21/04/23 and was told to come back in a few days. Consulted another dentist in Gisborne. Their opinion? One extraction and a few fillings. Plus, a huge variation in price quoted for the treatment needed. Not a couple of dollars. A couple of thousand. Sorry Smiles, but the treating dentist and her advice was not what we'd expected from the reviews left by others online.

Fantastic experience: I came here about a year ago to get 2 teeth removed under local and the girls are so sweet and understanding as I have a speech impairment that causes my to uncontrollably clench and my jaw muscles are stupidly huge im always feeling like I've been hit really hard in both sides of jaw. They did a amazing job the needle to nock me out didn't hurt and Always has before and the only think I can I have to say is I thought the 5 tooth fragments would have not been left in as sadly I can't afford alot as had a terrible motorcycle accident leaving me on a pension and cause of my speech impairment it destroys my teeth but I have another booking with them on monday im hoping the botox can fix my insanely huge jaw muscles that play a huge roll in not even wanting to talk due to the pain.. if I had 100k I would them implant ones but only way I could do that is winning tatslotto lol I wish there was a payment plan for people in my situation but they have very good hope thay botox will help and with whay im having done I might not even stutter and no more cutting my tongue every few hours I need to go ask some questions but they are lovely and not judge and that the only dentist that has ever happened so I can't fault the I just wish I could have work done in chairs I have tried at public dental clinic and I can't have ANY adrenaline or I go into fight or flight and I can sometimes tough the pain out on the scendanis l.a but it doesn't last long and sometimes due to me putting up with them in Trying to tough it out even a gum cleaning or filling they can't get a tooth out in chair as I can feel the pain and blood clots in few mins as my adhd I have a very high adrenaline drive so traces make me back into the corner scared im going to hurt people as i feel horrible and i know mauy thia and beg everyone to stay away and i have had to go to counselling to deal as they wont stop causw they dont believe i can still feel it and due to that torture i have had 4 sezuires in the 1 and half hours and im deadly scared of dentists but smiles is the best (i will be trying chair work as i was convinced by one of the kind male dentists but I wish there was a like long term payment plan for people tjay can't work due to speech impairment and the horrible accident on motorcycles but I can understand so I just need to save when I need surgery. I am praying the botox makes me jaw muscles smaller n normal it will help my speech impairment so much might even take it away. I will cry and hug everyone if it does. Best regards to SSB Jb

Negative experience: 1st appointment waited over an hour to be seen with a dental extraction emergency. 2nd appointment walked out after waiting an hour for a check up with no “hey we’re running late” got a call an hour later after I walked out to reschedule. Will not recommend or be back. I can get running late but lack of communication has lost me Look under Sarah Dimond and you will find I have attended your clinic

Fantastic experience: Outstanding dental experience, and that is coming from someone who hears the word dentist- and is getting sweaty palms:-( As a kid I broke the arm rest of the dentist's chair- you know where I am coming from? So let me start.........it will be a long review as there is so so much to cover. Take your time- it's worth it. If you think about it- do it and do it at Smile Studio Ballarat. I drove 200km to this clinic and I will continue to drive 400km's round trip- I don't care. What I have experienced there in passion for dentistry, a hard working team (couldn't do enough for you). And of course a highly trained Doctor. Dr. V is her nickname here. Dr. Vandana Budhwar. My appointment started at Hannah (Reception), a full 360' degree X-ray was taken and then I met Erin and Dr. Vandana for a consult. My issues were ranging from tooth decay and gum recession and a loose tooth. Outcome was, let me say urgent.I received a quote for an All-on-4 upper jaw treatment with 4 implants and 12 teeth on a titanium frame. Bottom jaw, single implant in front with 2 teeth fitted, 1 tooth extraction on 3.7 and 1 crown on tooth 3.6. Clean up of my other bottom teeth and I kept them. Overall quote including the anaesthetist (gas man) fee was $40300 dollars. Very happy with that so I gave the ok to go ahead, now to Felicity (patient coordinatior) she was amazing in coordinating all this and answered all my questions leading up to the surgery. Believe me she is probably sick of reading my name in the email inbox :-) as I mentioned earlier the team could not do enough for you. 1 week before your surgery date roughly you need an ECG and a blood test done and Felicity will send a few scripts to a pharmacy near you for Pre-OP medication and a mouth wash. Be strict with it that is important. Day of surgery: 23/11/2022 9am Wear comfy cloth, bring a blanket don't be anxious, they do that kind of surgery every day. :-) I know easy said. I met the gas man Dr. SHAKTI they call him, he explained complications and a couple of issues before he send me to sleep. Good night. Roughly 5 hours later I woke up- obviously with a sore face :-), top teeth removed and 3 implants put in my top jaw. Pain was not too bad at this stage- wearing like a headband with ice packs in it. You'll get good pain medication to take to the hotel. Whilst in recovery the team prints you some temporary teeth- yes printed :-) you will not leave the clinic without teeth. Unfortunately I had a small set back as my jaw bone in the top left, was too thin or hollow to put the 4th top implant in- Dr.V organised for me the following week to go down to Melbourne All on 4 clinic (Burwood) and meet Dr. Alex Fibishenko who would do a zygoma implant (cheekbone implant). Check YouTube All on 4 Dr. Alex Fibishenko. Great Videos available. I watched all of them and then I was star struck when I met Alex. Super organised, professional, in my eyes he is a genius, had even time after my recovery for a couple of photos. This was all done on the 05/12/2022 in the afternoon. Another surgery- shorter one- 1hr and 45 minutes all up. Just 1 cheekbone implant this time. Again I can not speak highly enough of the Ballarat team, as Erin and Vandana were there with me for my surgery in Melbourne. If you like me, from further away- the clinic recommends to stay a night in a motel/hotel. Just precautionary and you are not allowed to drive- bring a carer or driver for the surgery date. We stayed a night in Ballarat and also a night in Melbourne after the second surgery. As I am writing this review now 16/12/22 (11 days after the second surgery) I am not completely pain free, which is normal after two major surgeries. But it is getting better everyday. I received my final teeth on Wednesday the 7/12/22 back in Ballarat. Soft food diet for up to 3 months- but hey beats dentures any day of the week. Outstanding job, well done to Ballarat and Burwood. Fantastic experience: Outstanding dental practice! I cannot recommend Dr Vandana, Erin, Felicity, Maddie and all the staff at Ballarat Smile Studio, highly enough! (Five stars but I wish I could give them ten) This review is long as I wanted to to highlight all the instances SSB went above and beyond. If you don’t have the time to read, the short version is that this was an incredibly positive experience for me and somewhat of a miracle as I’ve had a history of dental trauma and anxiety I needed quite a bit of work done (5 crowns, 3 fillings and a full mouth debridement). I had an initial assessment from another dental practice who quoted me approximately $14,000. I contacted SSB to ask if they could do the work for less. Dr Vandana looked over my x-rays and did an over the phone consult (free of charge), quoting me less than $10,000 in total! She also explained that she could do the work in one visit (whereas I was told it would be three at the other practice) Felicity (in admin) was amazing in coordinating all this and answered all my questions leading up to the consult. I had the bulk of the work done under general anaesthetic (and again the nurse and anaesthesiologist were wonderful). Unfortunately the machine that was to mill my crowns had some technical issues on the day. Despite the setback, the staff worked tirelessly to get the machine up and running because they knew I was visiting from out of town. Dr Vandana and Erin (the surgical nurse) stayed at the practice until 10pm on a Friday night just so they could finished the job. Dr Vandana also replaced one of the fillings with a crown at no extra charge just because she thought it would be a better course of treatment. As I mentioned I had pronounced dental anxiety, experiencing a lot of pain, as I found it difficult to get numb. As a result, putting the crowns in was quite painful but Erin and Dr Vandana were so patient and kind. Erin even called me the next day to follow up and see how I was doing. As it turned out I had to return to have my bite adjusted (though no fault of the dentist) and it was such a great experience - minimal pain (which I consider to be a small miracle!) Once again Erin and Dr Vandana were patient, kind and fully committed to making this a positive and comfortable experience for me. (And once again they didn’t charge me a cent!) If you experience dental anxiety or you’re just looking for an excellent dentist go see these guys! They are truly the best! (Thank you so much! )

I highly recommended Caleb, is incredible. I had a tooth extraction and was amazed at not feeling a thing. Hands down best place I've been too for a dentist.

For positive feedback my only comment would be that a dedicated go to person be assigned to each patient in order to better manage the patients expectations with the realities of a very busy and thriving dental practice.

Negative experience: Smile Studio provides substandard dental work. I spent over $10,000 for porcelain veneers and other procedures all being unsuccessful (one not necessarily being the dentists fault, a failed crown). My veneers after review from another dentist confirms that they will require replacing as soon as possible, one may fall off within 12 months. Aesthetically they were very unprofessional, too long and not shaped to suit my smile post application. There was cement overflow that was not fixed as well as a gap between the top of one of my veneers and my gum causing pain. My concerns were not listened to after the application- i was told it will just take a while to adjust to my new teeth. After clinical notes and evidence from another dentist, i received reimbursement for my veneers however no apology for the situation or further compensation for the ongoing treatment. The blame was laid on the lab technician, not Dr Vandana Budhwar herself. I would not wish anyone to go through the same circumstance as me. All reception staff, dental nurses and the dentists themselves are friendly and respectful. However the work was not up to standard. The director however i can say has no empathy or concern for my situation. I have not been heard or apologised to i wanted to select zero stars, but it would not allow me to post until i selected at least one star. I will give the one star to reception and dental nurses, they were brilliant.

Negative experience: Called them up to talk about my situation been in pain since 24th December. Was not polite kept advising why I couldn't get something I wanted done and just wanted to get off the phone . Was not very happy

Fantastic experience: After an emergency visit to clean out infection under a tooth I should have had fixed months ago, and a filling a week later, I can say, for someone very anxious about going to dentists, they set my mind at ease. Very nice, kind, dentists, assistants, and reception staff. Facilities are A1! Plenty of easy access parking. Pricing is more than competitive. I was surprised at how little it cost me so far, and the projected quote for future work, compared to other dental providers. Definitely going back. When someone who avoids dentists actually wants to go back, you know it's a good place to go.

Negative experience: I was very happy with this practice until there was no follow up after having extractions and full dentures in place. No options were given as to having a full antiseptic or having the teeth removed in the chair just to name one thing that made my experience at this practice traumatic. I have been back for 2 follow up visits but saw Caleb instead of the previous dentist. Caleb is amazing and if you are looking for a great and caring dentist then this is who you need to make an appointment with. I for one will not be returning to this practice.
