Bupa Dental 538 Collins St (formerly D-Spa - 538 Collins St)

Fantastic experience: (d-spa dental) best dental treatment ever. they are very friendly and being patient with me & my husband throughout the examination & cleaning. thank you! (heard they moved to another location)

Negative experience: - I’ve never had a filling before, but was told that I needed 4 fillings by the dentist on duty at the clinic. When I went to another dentist to get a second opinion, I was told that there was no decay and there was no need for any fillings. Seems like an attempt to prescribe more treatments than necessary and to get more money out of the patient! - The full mouth OPG machine at the clinic was out of service and I was referred to an external radiology provider to do an X-ray. This radiology provider said that the X-ray would be fully out of pocket (ie not covered by Bupa). As a full mouth xray would ordinarily have been covered by Bupa if it were done at Bupa Dental, this was very inconvenient and defeats the purpose of having Bupa dental insurance.

The staff are incredibly professional, attentive, and always make me feel comfortable even during more complex procedures. Positive experience: They are not pushy unlike a lot of other dental clinics . Can probably improve on giving goodies like other clinics. If you’re a bupa member with extras covered you almost don’t have to pay anything !

Fantastic experience: I had an appointment with Elle Theodorakopulos, and she was incredible!! She was so thorough; explaining every process and every step, explaining what she was seeing and ensuring you felt heard and aware of what was coming next! She is personally the best Dentist I have ever been to! She gave no judgement to my honesty about flowing and gave awesome tips and tricks along the way. The clinic itself, is very cute, clean and well organised. They are able to give you a box (image attached to review) to help promote proper hygiene and use the products that were in store. I had a fantastic experience and really looking forward for my next check up!!

Fantastic experience: I didn’t think I’d ever be writing a 5 star review for a dentist appointment - but from the minute I walked in the door I’ve never had my nerves be put more at ease! Romeny & the team were so caring, gentle and patient, always checking I was feeling comfortable,…and to top it all off being a first time patient I received the nicest gift pack chocked full of great dental accessories - honestly I couldn’t have had a better experience. Fantastic experience: I never thought I’d be writing such a positive review about a dentist!! I had a dental issue whilst travelling and popped into D Spa to see if they could help. The service from the reception staff and dental nurse initially were great. Friendly, helpful and detailed. They followed this up with squeezing me in the following day with a 40minute treatment with an excellent dentist. The best dental treatment I’ve received. Explained clearly, treated efficiently and some advice to take home with me. If I lived in Melbourne these guys would be my regular dentist! Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I went there few weeks ago and it was my first visit. I'm always nervous when it comes to dental care but they made me feel relaxed right from the moment I stepped into the clinic. It was so welcoming and I was warmly greeted by their receptionist. She already knew who I was and that it's my first visit. My dentist/ oral care therapist Romy was also very gentle and friendly with me. I was also fascinated at their advanced technology where they showed a pictorial of my teeth/ gums profile. I enjoyed the experience and will definitely go back again.

Fantastic experience: I hadn't been to the dentist in over 10 years. I know, I know not great, I had never been because I couldn't really afford it before now and nothing was hurting so I let sleeping tooths lay, I was young and stupid I didn't wear sunscreen either - anyway. I was really anxious about this appointment. Not that anything was going to be wrong but that the dental team would judge me, or think I am gross or lazy or like make me feel bad. Honestly I don't know why, I don't even care what people think about me normally - I just felt very self conscious about this because I knew I had dropped the ball. Now, I say this with me whole heart. Romeny and her assistant (who's name I can't remember but she just got new table cloths & loves Pepsi MAX, and is a total icon) are two of the kindest most genuine humans I have ever met. I am so grateful for their time and consideration - they explained things too me even though I did not care or understand them. They took the time to make me feel really comfortable and fine and dare I say excited about my future care plan. I was judged, I didn't get in trouble, I was understood and celebrated for getting my adult life together. Also they did a banging job - my teeth are so clean and white, honestly I have a whole new mouth. I am out here French killing myself my teeth feel so good. Thank you - thank you - thank you. You made what was a huge cause of anxiety totally fine. If you are like me and you don't know where to start or how too. These are the 2 people you NEED to see. NEED - GO - MAKE THE APPOINTMENT - THIS IS NOT A DRILL.

Elle was the dentist who took great care of me, she's passionate, tidy, experimented, make her best to get you feel comfortable. She's also very friendly and that makes a big difference. Negative experience: I would have given 0 star to Dspa collins Street, they updated my appointment twice and confirmed it to be today Tuesday the 29th Nov at 10 AM and when I reach there after taking 2 hours off my work(without pay) they say it’s for tomorrow Wednesday. So unprofessional, I have sms proof to show that they updated my appointment. Frustrating

The space is warm and welcoming and Caitlin was so easy to talk to and understanding with me during my first appointment as a new patient. Fantastic experience: I've been a patient at D-Spa for more than a decade now, but last week I had my first dental emergency. Breaking a tooth overnight I was in pain and stressed but as soon as the clinic opened, staff managed to organise an urgent appointment and my tooth was fixed. I'm extremely grateful to the wonderful staff at reception who put me at ease and facilitated the appointment and the medical team who did an exceptional job of assessing, diagnosing and explaining the treatment required. I was bracing myself for an obscene bill and was shocked at how reasonable the cost was. I thoroughly recommend D-Spa for regular hygiene and dental needs, and I can now vouch for their excellent dental emergency treatment. Thank you!

I started going to the one near Parliament but then when my job moved to Docklands I was glad to be able to change to this Dspa at 538 Collins st. Over the years some of the staff have changed but not many times and not that often. Despite this the consistency of service and focus and care to the patient is clearly paramount to everyone that works there. If you want confidence in the advice you’re getting by trained professionals using the latest equipment and techniques then I would be happy to recommend Dspa.

Doug is a masterful dentist with an incredible eye for detail. I’ve had several major dental emergencies over the past six years and my teeth are looking better than ever. Fantastic experience: I had an emergency and mighty ugly (broken up/disintegrated with infection) upper, back molar extraction. It was my first visit, although my partner and daughter have been fans of the establishment for some time. I called and was accommodated within 48 hours. On the day, receptionist on duty, Kelly and Dr. John Nguyen, were both gold standards. Exemplary professionals with the uncommon traits of emotional intelligence. They were authentically engaged, polite and very skilled. It’s five out five stars from me!

Caitlin helped me at reception and very warm and welcoming, Annie and Doug saw me for my check up which was so thorough i didn't realise there were so many assessments that could be done at a dentist. Either way I left feeling empowered to keep my mouth as clean as they left it.

Fantastic experience: I would describe myself as a challenging dental customer. My twice a year visit is so traumatic for me. So I'm lucky that I get to see Gabe who takes the time to warm up the instruments, and apply topical gel so that my very sensitive teeth don't give me too much discomfort. The recent change to the fluoride gel to replace the foam means I don't have to wait an hour before I can eat or drink, great for 8qm appointments. I highly recommend Gabe and D-Spa.

Fantastic experience: Being born in the UK, my fear of dentists is real. My dentist in the UK was worse than the one Steve Martin portrayed in Little Shop Of Horrors. So, when I signed up to visit d-spa it was with fear and trepidation. I was hopeful that this was a new type of dentist. With "SPA" in the title! I was hoping they would have found a way for me to leave all my teeth, the team give them a massage and a clean and I pick them up later! I have NEVER IN MY LIFE experienced anything as amazing as d-spa! It's only been a few hours and I have told everyone I know that they should attend. Even some poor lady in the lift who (I think) was glad to get away from me!!! Everything about the experience said calm, friendly and professional. Caitlin, on arriving, made me feel welcome and important. I was quickly seen (for my 1 hour appointment) by Gabe who was out of this world. One of the nicest Oral Hygienists I have ever met. The fact he found all my humour amusing made it all the better! He took care and attention to ensure that I was comfortable throughout the cleaning and to explain each stage. He was incredibly reassuring. The dentist who then looked after my care plan was extraordinarily thorough. I never want to see the inside of my mouth again!!! But he took time to explain how I could further improve my oral health and did so in a very professional and knowledgeable manner. And none of it sounded at all painful! Even making payment was wonderful. Caitlin sat with me and explained my care plan once again and informed me that, with BUPA, the first consult would have no gap (it did have a gap but d-spa covered it). So, I left smiling in two ways; my pocket was still full, and my mouth was as fresh as a daisy. I heartily recommend this wonderful dentist. Who have taken the time to really think about the whole experience from a customer point of view. I wasn't rushed in and out in 30 minutes. I was there for an hour and 15 minutes. And each of those minutes were wonderful. Congratulations to the d-spa team for turning this dentist hater into one of your best advocates! I might even see if I can somehow rave about you on my Maths Teaching YouTube Channel! Fantastic experience: No one reviews their dentist, do they? BUT I think the world should know that D-Spa is terrific! The reception team are polished and helpful! Kelly is an incredible asset - she's welcoming and seamlessly handles complex requests. My dentist is Doug (assisted by Maddie) and his high-level competence makes fillings bearable. I highly recommend Doug as a safe pair of hands if you normally dread the dentist!! He and Maddie operate as a team, effortlessly in sync, and it's almost a pleasure to be in "the chair"!

Fantastic experience: A client of the practice for 5+ years and initiated by a recommendation from a colleague. From my first visit it was clear that the practice and all staff were passionate and took a holistic approach. From a simple clean to crowns a plan was presented and completed as well as excellent guidance and maintenance. Recently I was attended to by the Dentist (John) who was so careful and had a crown (one of 2) remade at no cost as it was not exactly as he ordered, His professionalism and level of care demonstrates what D-spa stands for and has bought me back for many years. Negative experience: I went there for a free consultation. They told me they would transfer me to a specialist and send me some information through email which they never did. No one actually cared..why do you even offer free consultations? A totally waste of time

He explained to me in full detail ever so patiently and gave me advise in great detail answering all my questions and making me understand the issues and the remedies. The receptionist was ever so friendly and super efficient. I would highly recommend this place.

The dental treatment I have received at this D-Spa clinic is second to none. I had quite a traumatising experience with regards to dental treatment in my childhood and never quite overcame my apprehension towards visiting the dentist until I started receiving treatment from Dr. Kae Bajwa. The dentists are so friendly and caring. The experience is actually pleasent and comforting. The staff are all very professional, welcoming, warm, informed and positive. I can not recommend dental treatment and the experience at D-Spa at 538 Collins Street, highly enough.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to D Spa for a little over a year now and it's hands down the best dentist I've been to. I've been seeing Mayank as my dentist, and he is super knowledgable and just an all round legend. Can't say I've ever wanted to leave a google review for a dentist before, but this place is just SO amazing . Their service is above and beyond. You can book online easily which I love. They even had T2 tea in the reception area for customers to drink before their appointment (pre covid). Honestly can't recommend them enough! Book in an appoinment!!

Fantastic experience: Very good experience at D-spa with Dr Mayank. A few crowns, cleaning and a few fillings so a fair bit of work and it was a good experience and I could go at my own pace without feeling pressured at any time.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic service from Dr. Su who was my regular dentist here over the last four years or so. My care was professional and kind and I was always given lots of detail about my future appointments and what to expect. When I had something go wrong I was seen promptly for an emergency root canal and Dr Su made me feel at ease despite me being very uncomfortable and in pain. My wisdom tooth removal with Dr. McKinlay was a quick procedure and I left with great aftercare and information. I saw the team at South Yarra for a follow up and was happy to note the wonderful service and care there too. The admin team are so lovely, always greeted me by name and gave me plenty of notice about upcoming appointments. Thanks for the fantastic service everyone! I wish you all the best for the future

Fantastic experience: A little over a year ago I saw Doug at D-Spa to enquire about orthodontic options. He explained to me all the different options I could go with and what would work best/last longer. I chose to go with Smilefast Braces and cannot recommend it enough. The whole process was explained very well to me by Doug and was pretty much what I expected. My braces were taken off just a few days ago and I cannot believe how beautiful my teeth look now! Such a quick and smooth process and have had so many compliments. Definitely recommend seeing Doug for orthodontics. The team at D-Spa are all so lovely and accomodating and I look forward to future dental visits there :)

Fantastic experience: Thank you Kelly for a superb job. For someone with bad childhood dentist experiences, the local anaesthetic was great, I barely felt the needle and then the whole filling was done so quickly. I thought I had a difficult and expensive job ahead, but I'm amazed, done so quickly, no fuss and after bupa the cost was only $67. I walk out feeling I've just had a win .
