Fantastic experience: I first saw Dr Shah at the TMJ Centre Melbourne in June 2021 after years of chronic jaw pain, frequent migraines, and consistently waking up feeling foggy. I’ve had TMD symptoms for over 20 years — jaw clicking, tightness, and discomfort that I managed over the years with regular chiropractic and osteopathic treatment. In 2020, I tried Botox for TMD (not at the TMJ Centre) — my first treatment in June brought great results, but a follow-up in December left me feeling worse, with increased tightness in my jaw and head. That’s when I sought more comprehensive care and reached out to the TMJ Centre. Over a 6-month period with the TMJ Centre, I underwent tailored chiropractic treatment and was fitted with an occlusal splint. Since then, I’ve worn the splint daily for nearly four years, and it has truly been life-changing. Negative experience: Unfortunately, the treatments did not work for me and the cost was more than $7000. In one session with Dr Lubetzky I was told once my “pathways” had been reset they would stay that way. In following sessions, due to the lack of improvement, I feel I was given conflicting information from him. I never had any interactions with Dr Shah, however, I had several with Dr Gosrani and Dr Lubetzky. I am writing this because I waited years to attend the TMJ centre due to the high cost and even though I felt it wasn’t working I really wanted to make it work. I know people with TMJ pain are often desperate for relief and solutions. I found out later that a colleague of mine had a similar experience to mine at the TMJ centre. When my colleague and I spoke about our experiences we agreed that although they may have helped some people we both left feeling broke, disillusioned and in pain. So really just to say, if you feel it isn’t working or if you don’t have the money to spare or potentially waste then don’t go! However, Wendy the old receptionist was brilliant.

Fantastic experience: My 16 year old daughter had been suffering intense pain in her jaw due to teeth grinding in her sleep and was unable to even open her mouth properly to even be able to eat an apple. I was at a loss to know what action to take after numerous dental consultations which resulted in no help whatsoever. I found TMJ Centre on a google search. After the first consultation, Dr Meetal Shah was quickly able to determine the exact problem, offer a resolution and within a month the pain went from intense to none whatsoever and her mouth was able to open properly again. Fantastic experience: Since I was young I've been suffering with headaches and migraines. I never knew it was related to my jaw. I tried many things like medication but nothing seemed to help. I went to my dentist because I wanted something to help me stop grinding my teeth down. I've been grinding my teeth since I was young, I think that may have been the cause for my TMJ. My dentist actually recommended to see Dr. Meetal Shah at TMJ Center Melbourne. I'm glad I did. I saw Dr. Meetal in February. We did a program where I saw him every 2 weeks for 2 months. Each week we would see big changes and lots of progress. He gave me a splint to wear that would sit on the bottom of the teeth. In the start I had to wear it during the day and night. I only took it out when I ate and needed to brush my teeth. Now I only wear it at night when I sleep. Some symptoms I had that are now gone were, clicking of the jaw, jaw locking (unable to close my mouth), headaches every morning that would last throughout the day, pain when chewing, popping sounds when opening my mouth, pain at the jaw. I'm still grinding my teeth as that has to do with my stress but the splint stops me from grinding my teeth down. Dr. Meetal also recommended that I do red light therapy on my jaw to help with my pain. After it was done it was like there was no pain at all. It all depends on your situation on what you need. You may not need the same thing as me but Dr. Meetal will go through with you and come up with what's best for you. It is expensive but there are payment plans available if needed. I've been slowly paying it off and have had no issues! If you are suffering with a similar issue and have tried multiple things I do recommend TMJ Center Melbourne and Dr. Meetal. It's made a massive difference to my life. The big thing is I have no more pain and headaches!

Fantastic experience: After many years of spending the money on Botox for temporary pain relief which didn’t address the clenching or clicking, a hit to the jaw playing footy pushed me to do something about the issues I was facing, I was hesitant but the reviews convinced me I had nothing to loose at this point. I was hesitant on spending on the mouthguard because I am not good at actually following instruction and feared it wouldn’t work but again the previous reviews comforted me and Dr. Shah’s explanation! Since using the splint my pain has almost disappeared and clicking has reduced, I wake up not in pain and if I have a stressful day, and begin to clench again the splint provides a relief at night. Fantastic experience: I was suffering daily headaches and serious jaw pain. After trying some other options including botox in the jaw and physio I decided to give the retainer a go as a last resort. Its not cheap so I had to really decide if it was for me. Honestly the best decision I ever made. Headaches and jaw pain stopped almost immediately after wearing the retainer overnight. Its changed my life and I highly recommend this for anyone suffering like I was.

I’ve been dealing with severe jaw muscle pain, neck pain, headaches, migraines, and difficulty chewing ever since sustaining a heavy concussion and jaw/neck trauma playing football. Over the years, I tried various TMJ physios and different dental splints, but nothing fully resolved my symptoms. I was starting to lose hope that I would ever get relief from the constant pain. That all changed when I went to TMJ Centre Melbourne. They custom made a day and night splint for me, and within 8 weeks, my jaw pain and issues were completely gone. The treatment also significantly reduced my neck pain. Yes, it is one of the more expensive treatments out there, but I can confidently say it’s worth the money. Negative experience: I didn’t enjoy my experience at the TMJ centre. The consultation was $300 which seems expensive. I went in for a clicking jaw but was told nothing could be done. I was asked leading questions about my headaches and then he tried to sell me a mouth guard for $900 or $1600 because I clinch my teeth. Never has a dentist mentioned this to me and it all felt like a sales pitch for them to sell overpriced mouth guards. I only went in because my dentist referred me for the clicking jaw and if i knew it couldn’t be fixed I wouldn’t have worried as I told my dentist I didn’t get any pain from it.

Fantastic experience: I recently completed a treatment program at TMJ Centre Melbourne and am extremely grateful to Dr. Meetal Shah and his team. Before treatment, I had annoying symptoms like clicking and popping in my left jaw joint, pain when chewing, and a risk of my jaw locking. I previously tried to get help from a chiropractor, but it was painful and didn't help much. Dr. Shah provided a much better solution with an occlusal splint, expertly designed based on a scan and mould of my teeth and bite. For about a month, I wore the splint all day, every day (except when eating and brushing/flossing my teeth. After this period, Dr. Shah assessed my condition. Seeing significant improvements (no more clicking, popping, or pain), he instructed me to gradually wean off the splint over five weeks. Now, my symptoms have completely resolved. Negative experience: I am incredibly wary of this clinic. I had my appointment here a year or so ago and after what seemed like an incredibly dodgy test I was given a care plan to consider that cost upwards of $10,000. I left in tears thinking this must be my only option. I have since seen numerous specialists who have all advised me that even if I was to go ahead with the treatments suggested by the care plan, it should never cost as much as I was quoted. The appointment itself was insanely expensive and after consulting with other specialists I have come to believe that their whole process may be a scam. I'm just glad I didn't give in to the pressure to pay upfront for this care plan.

Fantastic experience: Having researched online & in desperate need of finding help after finding no solutions in Far North Queensland, I travelled to Melbourne to visit the TMJ Centre. Wow, problems solved! After an initial consultation with both Dr Jonathon Lubetzky and Dr Shah, they immediately identified my problems and worked quickly to resolve same. Dr Shah ordered specific orthotics and expedited the delivery of same in time for my departure home. The orthotics have worked from the minute they were fitted and I could not be happier, especially versus the single splint provided at great cost in FNQ! I cannot recommend their service highly enough and Wendy was also fantastic in sorting appointments to suit as well. On the next visit to Melbourne, I had two appointments with Dr Lubetzky to handle the nerve, muscular and joint problems caused by both the TMJ issue and associated nerve problems. Fantastic experience: When I first came in, I was facing the prospect of needing jaw surgery in the future due to the severity of my TMJ issues. My jaw could barely open and I was having pain during the day and worse at night when trying to sleep. By the time I left, the use of the splint helped reduce my pain to the point where I now have no pain during the day, barely at night and can open my jaw to an almost normal range (which for me is life changing). When I first saw them, I could not even open my mouth, and I was always in pain along with terrible head and neck pain; Still, now I can easily open my mouth and usually chew, My headache, and neck pain has gone, and the usage of the appliance (splint) helps me a lot in managing the pain and making my daily life back to normal. Being treated by a certified TMJ dentist Dr Shah and Chiropractor Dr Jonathan, go hand in hand. I strongly recommend the two of them if you wish to receive an excellent result. Negative experience: Update: Oct 2022 -- It is totally different from someone who get paid to write 5 star review. No one wants to spend his / her precious time to write a one star review. Unless it is really deeply dispointed him / her and also charged a lot of money. Dr Jonathan Lubetzky gave me his business card and told me to go to his clinic. He said he could use some natural method to cure me. I attended to your clinic. I really did not know why you clinic had to send both a dentist and a phsio together and actually the phsio did nothing to me. But I had to pay for him. Old: Do not go to this clinic. They bill you for a chiropractor. I was persuaded by this guy and attended to his clinic. He is a liar and used some weird way to diagnose me and tried his best to sell some suppliments to me. Those suppliments are low quality and cannot found online. He put some bottle on my head and moved my hand and told me whether allegic to something in this way. Then he charged me $285 for less than 1 hour.

Fantastic experience: Dr Meethal Shah has been absolutely wonderful in my journey trying to heal a TMJ issue. Before seeing Meethal I had countless trips and expense at the dentist who was unable to fully assist. Dr. Shah diagnosed the issue immediately and helped me work out a suitable treatment plan. He has explained everything so patiently professionally and empathetically. Fantastic experience: Since I was 13 I've been struggling with jaw pain, all the doctors I went to dismissed the pain or suggested neurofen to reduce inflammation. Dr Shah and Jonathan on the other hand were so attentive. They listened to all my concerns about pain and facial asymmetry (which others dismissed) and 2 months later I have no pain in my jaw. The process was clearly set out and the dentistry along with the chiropractic adjustment has given me a new lease on life. Negative experience: I would not recomment TMJ centre melbourne to anyone. Avoid at all cost and do your own research before visiting. Don't be blinded by their current 5 stars review (which I did and regretted). Months later, nothing has changed despite wearing the splint every single night. The jaw pain still comes back few hours after removing the splint. Don’t waste your money here, look for other true professionals who can truly solve your problem and not Dr Shah. Dr Shah not only pretend to be attentive and professional during the first visit. Impatient, rude and patronising during the subsequent visit. Made a comment on not seeing any difference after wearing it for a few weeks and this trigger him. He became hostile, irritated and even rolled his eyes and asked what kind of result was I hoping for before I visited them. It seems like he don’t even care where the problem lies and totally no patience. Zero effort consultation. Asked plenty of questions during the consultation which didn’t even assist in diagnosing the cause of it. Obviously his end result is simple - spend few thousand on their splint and off you go. You won’t even know if a split is required as a treatment for your pain but Dr shah does have his way to push you to get it. After getting it he will try his utmost best to get rid of you as soon as possible. After earning my money, Dr Shah attitude completely changed. Irksome is the only word i can think of to describe him. Minimal effort in trying to solve my tmj issue.

Now I feel pain free 99% of the time and it's only been a few months. Fantastic experience: My name is Hasini, i first came to see Dr Shah early last year. I was miserable, in constant pain and could barely open my mouth to eat and even talking hurt. I had gone to my GP who diagnosed me with TMJ dysfunction and said i probably needed a splint and to go to denist and get fitted. When i called the dentist they simply wanted to book me in, they did not ask me about my symtoms or what i was experiencing. Fantastic experience: For months, I was having headaches, eye pain, and jaw pain after eating. My GP couldn't help, my dentist gave me a night guard which didn't help, so I decided to try this clinic after seeing other positive reviews. In the first consultation Dr. Shah went through my symptom history with me to establish a timeline, and he was quickly able to identify a trigger point in one of my cheek muscles which was the source of my symptoms. By following Dr Shah's self-treatment instructions to heal the muscle I've experienced a significant reduction in the severity and duration of my pain in the approximately five weeks since my first visit.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to the TMJ centre over the last six months now and the improvement in my issues with my TMJ are out of this world. I’ve been to GP’s, physiotherapists, other dentists and none have been able to target my problems the way they do here. Fantastic experience: i went to the TMJ centre back in December with issues i have been dealing with for over 9 years. constant dislocation where my jaw would completely pop out and i would have to pop it back in myself, my jaw would also lock either open or at times closed. the constant clicking and popping when i would eat. i could not even eat a burger without being in pain the pain i would experience was beyond horrible and at times bring me to tears. after 3 months of treatment maybe just under i am finally pain free! i have not had a dislocation or lock in over 6 months. i can now eat food with no pain and no clicking at all. no more popping of my jaw nothing! i still wear my bottom guard just to bed to help with me clenching but no more during the day which is amazing and finally feels good that all that hard work has paid off. thank you dr shah for all your help and also to wendy for being so lovely when i would come in

Fantastic experience: Being a sufferer of TMJ issues for the better part of 8 years, the wonderful folk here at TMJ Centre were the only thing, after countless dentists, physiotherapists and chiropractors that actually helped decrease the pain and discomfort I was living with on a daily basis. I saw them about 3 years ago, and since then, my jaw, neck and shoulder pain have significantly diminished. Fantastic experience: I was fitted with a mouthguard/splint to help stabilise my jaw which was causing my TMJ jaw pain and migraines. It was definately an investment but it has been one of the best things I've done! I have a rare chronic condition and Dr. Shah knew what it was straight away (lots of other doctors have very little knowledge on it or never even heard of it) so I knew right away I was in good hands. Fantastic experience: When I first went to TMJ Centre Melbourne I could barely open my mouth. It was very restricted and my jaw would click. I was also having regular botox in my jaw to relieve the pain. After seeing Dr Meetal Shah and having my jaw assessed, I had my teeth reconstructed. I was also seeing Eric for my neck pain and then Jonathan Lubetsky in conjuction with my dental treatment. Fantastic experience: They were super helpful and incredibly nice and made me feel at ease. I have been grinding/clenching in my sleep for years unknowingly. This caused me to pop a disk out of place in my jaw. It was incredibly painful and I had no idea how it happened. After it popped out of place my jaw would lock up and I would experience pain often in the morning and when chewing, singing and yawning. I had this pain for about 6 months before seeing them. After they worked out my issue I was given a denture to wear at night to reduce grinding and clenching. It was miraculous how well and quickly it worked for me. They said I was a bad case and might have to live with the pain forever but the denture helped heaps. My disk may have even popped back into place they believe. It has now been about a year since I got the denture and because I wear it every night I haven't had ANY pain since. Like not at all. It was a complete turn around and I am so grateful for them helping me get rid of what could have been a lifelong struggle.

Fantastic experience: I was suffering from chronic migraines and headaches, jaw pain and muscle jaw tension before I went to see The TMJ centre. Fortunately Meetal, Eric and Jonathon were able to educate me and show me why I was in the pain I was in and provide me with various treatment options. The treatment can come across as very holistic and different and even though I was a skeptic at the start, I could not be happier with the results I now have. The treatment was very expensive but the payoff was priceless. And Wendy was able to help me with a payment plan which was super helpful!! I found everyone super flexible and agile. The frequent checkups during the 4 months meant that as my progress was changing, my treatment was still heading in the right direction. Meetal also went out of his way to make sure that my night guard was suitable for me which was very appreciated and included extra emergency appointments (at no extra cost). It was clear to me that although it was expensive, the TMJ centre do not want to rip me off and had my best interests at heart throughout my treatment. Even though from time to time now I do feel my jaw start to clench up due to stress going forward after my treatment, I now have the tools to be able to stop this in its tracks of becoming TMJ again and stop the chances of having chronic pain. Which I would not have been able to do without them. I hope you find this review extremely helpful on your own journey and research. I know that when I was considering the treatment, I found confidence in all the positive google reviews I read. I also looked into physios, Osteos, other chiros, and other dentists but I was not able to find another place which could offer a 24/7 (provide me with a day guard and night guard) 4 month treatment that meant that while treating the TMJ I was pain free (yep no TMJ headaches or pain!! And then once I weened off the day mouth guard my TMJ headaches did not return). It’s safe to say that the treatment was extremely successful.

Fantastic experience: After 3 years of TMJ symptoms, I managed to fully resolve my issues at this clinic. Prior to learning about TMJ Centre Melbourne, I had my case reviewed by an ENT, chiro, osteo and 2 dentists. 3 years later with time and money spent including on 2 custom mouthguards, my symptoms of ear fullness, jaw tightness and heaviness in the head improved only marginally. Only by a chance travel into Melbourne as an overseas visitor I learned about this practice. Given I only had limited time in Melbourne, the team were kind to slot in as many appointments as practically possible to help resolve my symptoms. Now 7 months after, the symptoms are gone and I have more energy and stamina to pursue all my interests. The symptoms did not disappear immediately for me, but over time the benefits were fully realised. I can't thank the whole team, Meetal, Eric and Wendy enough for looking after me. They are indeed very passionate and experienced in dealing with TMJ given their strong interest in this area. Relative to all the other options I have tried, I would rate this as truly value for money. I don't know of any other practice where the dentist and the chiro work hand in hand to resolve the TMJ issue and I believe that is what led to my improvement.

Fantastic experience: After dealing with horrible jaw pain for five years and developing (a rather embarrassing) habit of clicking my jaw in and out every 10 minutes to provide temporary relief, I started seeing Meetal and Johnathon. Both Meetal and Johnathon have been absolutely amazing throughout my treatment, validating the pain my TMJ was causing (which not many other medical professionals had done) and being determined to find a solution to the pain even when at the start progress was slow. After seeing a physio for years with no lasting impact, within a few months of treatment with Meetal and Johnathon practically all my symptoms have subsided, I'm no longer constantly clicking habit or in daily pain. And a big thanks for Wendy for always being so friendly and checking in with me and my progress when I came into the centre and being so flexible around my inconsistent work and uni schedule! Fantastic experience: Before I came here, I could barely open my mouth - things like chewing and yawning were painful and near impossible. I visited several GPs, who told me there wasn't anything that could be done. Fantastic experience: It is going to be hard to write a better review than some of these!! I am determined to however, having had a very long association with Meetal, Eric and Wendy of nearly 4 years. I basically could barely open my mouth, my jaw was lopsided and receding, I had problems eating and sleeping and all sorts of unspecified pain. The medical profession had taken me down many dead ends but when I went to the TMJ centre it all became so obvious! It was all down to poor orthodontic work and the removal of far too many teeth when I was a teenager. So we headed down the long road of fixing the problem. There is no doubt it is a difficult process at the age of 58 but I felt supported all the way. My concerns were always met with the perfect balance of empathy and practicality.
