Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Dr Tom highly enough. As someone with an extreme fear of dental procedures due to a horrific experience many years ago, I was incredibly anxious even for a routine scale and clean. Dr Tom was outstanding, he explained every detail clearly, checked in with me throughout, and stopped immediately when he noticed I was becoming anxious. His patience, professionalism, and genuine care made all the difference. For anyone nervous about visiting the dentist, Dr Tom is the one to see.

Fantastic experience: As a general rule I'm a nervous patient when it comes to going to the dentist. I'm not sure why as each and every experience at Smile Place Dental from entry to exit has me feeling the complete opposite. From the reception staff to the dental nurses and the dentists themselves. Each doing their role that is welcoming, calming and informative. I wouldn't go, or take my kids anywhere else. Highly recommended and I have done so with people I know who have thanked me for it.

Negative experience: Extremely Disappointing Experience — Unprofessional Conduct and Aggressive Upselling DO NOT BELIEVE THEIR HIGH REVIEWS I am writing this review to warn prospective patients about my deeply unsatisfactory experience at this clinic. In my view, they operate in an unprofessional manner, with staff who are dismissive of patient autonomy, pressure clients into unnecessary procedures, and deliver substandard care — leading to repeated visits and further expenses. I urge others to look beyond the overly positive reviews, which I suspect may not reflect the true nature of this clinic. My experience began when I visited the practice for a routine check-up due to a toothache. Unfortunately it was urgent, and I could not choose the doctor, and was required to register to see the dentist who was available at the time: Dr Atousa Moradi. Unfortunately, this was where the issues began. Dr Moradi's attitude was, unreasonably dismissive and condescending. Following an X-ray, she informed me — in a manner I found both very rude and patronising — that I needed five procedures. She completely disregarded my own knowledge of my dental history and was extremely insistent on carrying out high-cost interventions that, in my view, were unnecessary and excessive. I wasn't born yesterday, thanks. When I declined, her demeanor became noticeably irritated. But I knew that I had to fight her. For example, she insisted that I undergo a tooth drilling and filling for a sensitivity I’ve lived with comfortably for decades. Her pushiness made me feel coerced rather than consulted. What followed was even more concerning. When I attempted to leave, she insisted on performing a dental cleaning, saying that the time had already been booked and paid for — which led me to believe it was part of the original appointment. I reluctantly agreed. The cleaning was not only extremely painful, but when I asked her to be more gentle, she responded dismissively, saying, “If you came more often, it wouldn’t hurt.” I left the chair genuinely worried about the care I had received. I was afraid she would scratch my teeth on purpose, just to put me back in that chair and grab my money. To make matters worse, when I checked at the reception, I was told the cleaning had not been booked in advance and was not mandatory. I felt misled and manipulated into undergoing an uncomfortable and unnecessary procedure. On a separate occasion, I returned to the clinic to have a tooth repaired — a tooth they had previously treated ny another dentist, but which had since deteriorated, because procedure wasn't done well. I called ahead and confirmed my appointment not once, but twice over the phone. Both times I was assured that I was booked in. However, when I arrived, the staff informed me that no appointment had been scheduled. This lack of coordination cost me significantly — I had taken time off work and paid for transport, only to be turned away with no explanation or apology. This level of disorganisation and disregard for patients' time further solidified my decision never to return. In my experience, this clinic consistently fails to provide reliable or respectful service. In sum, I found the experience distressing, the communication misleading, and the standard of care lacking. I would not recommend this clinic, and I strongly encourage others to seek dental care elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Thank you, to the team at Smile Place Dental again! Today I came in to see Dr Chandra for my 6 month check and clean, I had an issue with one of my teeth and Dr Chandra took the time to help me understand the possible causes and help me with a conservative treatment plan to help alleviate my symptoms. Dr Chandra and nurse Linda then proceeded do give me a thorough clean which was so incredibly pleasant, extremely gentle and I felt comfortable cared for during the whole procedure. Thank you so much ladies, I appreciate all the care I received today.

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Dr Vairavan highly enough. I initially saw her at the Upwey clinic for a difficult extraction. Today (11th Feb 2025), I saw her for tooth pain at the Forest Hill clinic. Her manner is so friendly and reassuring. The staff are phenomenal too, friendly and helpful. The prices are also very affordable. I changed to this clinic only recently as their prices are much better than our previous clinic and they were able to do an extraction that was considered too difficult for my previous dentist. The facilities are spotless and hygiene is clearly something they take seriously. Highly recommend this clinic and particularly Dr Vairavan.

The dental nurse I initially spoke with could not have been more polite and helpful. She has a wonderful manner and accommodated my wishes immediately. When I saw the dentist, this positive experience continued. At all times the dentist and nurse cared for my comfort. The dentist carefully explained the step by step procedure and her suggestions and advice. At all times was I able to understand what she was saying.
