Negative experience: I’ve called at exactly 8am, which is the clinics open time. Yet I had to wait 1 hour for absolutely no one to pick up. What can they be possibly be doing at 8am which is there start time as said on the website. No call back option or anything. Absolutely ridiculous customer service! Now I need to take time off work just to come in and book an appointment for another day which is just a waste of time. Genuinely Westmead has the worst phone services provided. FYI for eveyone it’s best if you just go in and book an appointment/reschedule Genuinely so frustrating!!
Negative experience: My experience with Westmead Centre for Oral Health has been incredibly upsetting and unprofessional. I went in with only 7 teeth left, all of which are completely rotten, broken, and in several cases worn down to the roots and blackened. I am constantly on antibiotics for gum infections and need pain medication frequently due to the condition of my teeth. Despite this, the clinic refused to remove all 7 remaining teeth. They insisted on leaving two teeth behind, even though my X-rays clearly show they are not fixable. The issues are documented in my file, yet I was spoken to as though I was lying about the pain and the severity of my dental condition. I don’t understand the logic of leaving two unusable, decayed teeth in my mouth when I am already on the waiting list for full dentures. It makes no sense to keep teeth that do not line up, cannot be used for eating, and continue to cause infections. Their refusal has left me unable to eat properly and in constant discomfort. The staff were also extremely rude and dismissive. I felt judged, ignored, and belittled whenever I tried to ask questions or advocate for my own health. The wait times are unbelievable, and the overall attitude from many workers is that they don’t want to help and don’t like being asked anything at all. I do not recommend this dental clinic. The lack of compassion, the unprofessional behavior, and the unwillingness to address clear medical issues have caused me unnecessary pain and stress. I left feeling unheard and disrespected, and I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere for proper dental care.
Fantastic experience: All the staff and doctors have been amazing and i want to thank them all. This is a free public service, so we need to appreciate this. I had a tooth extracted amd a trainee jabbed me twice in the facewith the numbing needle prior to trying to extract my tooth without numbing the area required. Thankfully a more skilled doctor stepped in upon hearing me yell in pain. But this can happen anywhere and it would cost hundreds of dollars i just dont have. Thankyou to all the staff and especially the quirky doctor i have been seeing recently. It is also the nicest part of mestmead hospital.... thankyou

If the patient does not know what they are doing, the friendly and efficient staff will assist you in all aspects of what to do. I was very pleased with my last visit to the Dental Hospital. Negative experience: Today I was pick up my voucher. My appointment was at 4 The employee questioned me about why I wanted to receive one and asked me many questions unrelated to dental issues, including telling me my face Very serious she was an extremely rude employee.

Negative experience: Very poor management in appointments , even booked appointment should wait more the two to fours in pain for emergency room and everyone in staff sending patients ask that counter or next counter and there is no one to get responsibility. If u r in pain better to pay a private hospital but please don’t go there cause u will suffer more.

Negative experience: Incredibly unprofessional. I had an appointment with Dr Mark Schifter that had been booked three months in advance. The clinic called at 2:30pm to cancel my 3:00pm appointment and reschedule it three months later. Completely unacceptable treatment of patients and an appalling lack of respect for people’s time.
Negative experience: Call center service is ridiculously poor. Waited for over 30 mins from 9.30am so decided to opt for the call back option instead since it said I won’t lose my spot in the queue. It’s 4.30pm now, still no call back. Does that mean I could have been waiting on the line for over 7 hours?!?! Unacceptable. UPDATE: 5 days later, still no call back.
Negative experience: Why would they tell me to come at 1:30 and now it’s 3 o’clock and still haven’t seen anyone. How does that makes sense

Fantastic experience: Came here about a week ago for an emergency walked in with a swollen jaw didnt wait long at all from the moment I walked in triage staff were amazing xray doctors were so caring and lovely and emergency doctor fatima did her job extremely well I will definitely recommend this dental hospital.... I also took my kids here for a quick check up as well one of my daughters was experiencing high sensitivity automatically found what the issue was and dealt with it right away amazing 10/10 experience I've also been coming here since i was a little girl got my braces done when I was 15 and never had any issues and my kids felt so settled and at ease nurses and all staff are amazing and respected ❤️

Negative experience: I was sent away from mt druitt with a bad wisdom tooth.2 yrs later after alot of pain I went to westmead dental to get the tooth removed, dentist drilled down into my tooth untill they could pull the pieces out then 6 stitches.I went to a real dentist today and I find out all the pain I have been in is because the lazy dentist left a root in there.Its really bad how they treat old people leaving them to suffer after their botched work.
Negative experience: Where do I begin, originally booked in for general check, which was done in a ni.inal.period on waiting list. Then had an issue, called n got in as "emergency", assessed n was told needed to see a specialist n would be put on "emergency wait list" Sept 2024. Got a letter to complete around Nov 3024, completed n returned - same info as previously advised. June 2025 got a call for "general" check up, told them what about the specialist, no just a general, unable to attend n advised can't until a month later, get another call a week later for same! Didn't hear from them until today where I received a message saying I have an appt. Rang them n said I never received a call, advised they make the booking without contact as I was on the "general" waiting list for assessment! Told the girl, did that in Sept 2024 but no, got to do it again, I gather this is the result of the form I completed which I notated "specialist appt already screened". The whole system is "to boot"! Do not rely on this "free" service, just does not work.
Fantastic experience: Saw dentist student Silverster for emergency pain 2 week ago. I needed few teeth taken out and he was very professional and gentle, was very comfortable and not painful. He did very good

Fantastic experience: I wanted to say how grateful I am to phone operator, Stephanie & triage nurse, Saith. They were both so kind, understanding & helpful. I have acute dental anxiety, & have not seen a dentist since 1997. These wonderful ladies helped me so much, and allayed my fears. I think they both deserve a big pay rise! Thanx again. Update 1 week later... Had 2 teeth extracted by wonderful trainee dentist, Nadia, overseen by her supervisor (quality human). It was quite an ordeal for me, but the kindness & understanding I received was above and beyond. Many, many thanks for the positive experience I had today (despite the tears, lol). I had an extraction appointment booked, arrived early and was seen almost immediately. If you follow their basic, simple rules & listen carefully to what they explain to you, the experience will be much less stressful. It's no good trying to make the rules to fit your personal situation. There are a lot of people in western Sydney who need help, one at a time. I've read other people's comments and think that gratitude for receiving something for free should be the foremost in people's minds. Stop feeling so entitled & easily offended, people. Imagine if we did not have the option of going to Westmead for free in Australia. I love Westmead Centre for Oral Health. :) .... from a retired 68yo female, first-time patient.

Negative experience: I’m very disappointed with my recent experience at the Westmead Centre for Oral Health. From the moment we arrived with my family, it felt like we were not treated with the respect or care that every patient deserves. The overall environment was more like a chaotic hospital than a well-managed oral health centre. The reception staff were especially unprofessional. They lacked basic communication skills and didn’t seem trained to handle the public properly. We were left confused and frustrated — no clear information was given to us, and we weren’t told what was happening or what to expect. There was a serious lack of transparency, courtesy, and organization. My family and I felt dismissed, ignored, and not valued at all. It was an upsetting experience, and I truly hope the management takes steps to train their staff properly and improve the quality of service. People come here for help and care — not to be disrespected or made to feel small.

Negative experience: Dear Australian Government, the dental benefits you provide to yours peoples are very good, but when I called to make an appointment for my child's dental visit, the call went through one department at 3pm and was transferred to another, and then to three departments. I ended up waiting for more than two hours, and it was already past 5pm, and everyone had gone off work, but no one answered the phone. The benefits are good, but you are all serving yourselves and not for the peoples. How to do?
Negative experience: I am a dialysis patient and lost all my teeth almost to kidney disease hereditary the hospital promised me implants for seven years I've gone to Auburn dialysis when I should be at Bankstown but they lied to me now the past 7 years I've had dental appointments they do nothing each time I go home crying last week they interrogated me with the bloke from there blonde mle and demanded I sign forms so they can make me go there every week to get dentures i have dentures now and they are partial with rotted teeth and will not stay in as I have no saliva I am currently unable to chew with a broken denture kidneys failure in stage 5 hereditary I have already had dentures and now they are going to torture me again for 10 years with hopes ill die so they won't have to bother again I have 2 rotted teeth 2 teeth holes and that is all they want to rip all out today and make dentures it's soo cruel now ill have no teeth to chew with because the dentures will not stay in my mouth at all but if I don't remove the infected ones I could get sicker I already have no immune system and can't chew my food I gag with dentures and can't believe my own country is making me want to end My life only I agreed to dentures they would have left the infected teeth in my mouth it's today and i don't know what to do as they have no empathy at all I also need dental clearance for transplant list they do give implants to there favourite patients with my sickness I am not included as I am Australian my situation is critical and can result in death sincerely M.Burns no quality of life left Liaison officer does not exist don't bother wasting ur time is not true

Fantastic experience: I had my daughters tongue tie release done The staff at the front gave me directions to get to where I needed to be with a smile. Once I arrived all drs where smiling and reassured me. They also gave me my own room for privacy to feed the baby and then checked on her again to ensure she wasn't bleeding. The appointment wait time wasn't long at at and the whole process took 10 to 15 min. Thank you so much

Fantastic experience: After no dentist in my local area could help my four year old, who had fallen at school and fractured her front teeth. We brought her 3hrs to this clinic. Dr Thomas H. Was an absolute angel. His bedside manner and ability to keep my daughter calm and comfortable through the entire consult and procedure was amazing. Whilst she did have to have one removed. He explained everything clearly to us and ensured she wasn’t scared at all through the ordeal. Thank you so much, from one very worried mum. My little girl is no longer in pain and is almost back to her happy self.

Positive experience: Impressed with the experience at the paediatric tongue tie clinic today. We were able to get an appointment quite quickly after my child was diagnosed, even though we were out of area for the hospital. The wait time was short, the staff were friendly and they were able to diagnose and resolve the problem quickly. The building is quite old but still does the job ok. The only reason why the rating is not 5 stars is the traffic light situation in the precinct which is an absolute farce - if there is no traffic then change the lights more every 5 mins! I would recommend public transport to visit though this may not be possible e.g. with a newborn with no vaccinations.

Positive experience: The dentist that did my root canal on 29th April (I forgot his name), did an amazing job. He took great care and time to fully look after my infected tooth, along with one other who was very considerate and welcoming. Very helpful those two were and I thank them. However the people who come to check on the dentist working on patients to make sure things are good and to provide suggestions on what to do, upset me considerably. The male that checked on me and the dentist kept trying to rush the procedure multiple times making me feel disrespected and nearly believe that care AND TIME is not a factor when caring for a patient. I found it incredibly disrespectful to be doing that, especially in front of the patient.
Negative experience: 17th of April was on hold for 50mins and they hung up on me, so I rang back again and was on hold for 20mins before choosing the option for them to call me back, I waited 2hrs and no call back so I decided to call back, this time I was on hold for an hour n half before it hung up on me,...I woke up this morning and found I had a miss call from them and here I am on hold again, it's going on 40mins even though on Google it says they are not busy....These people need to be held accountable, how can I public service be this bad!!! It's ridiculous

Fantastic experience: The care I received here has been well above expectations, I have nothing bad to say about the Dr and his assistant who were kind, caring, gentle with treating my gum disease, they scheduled followup apointments and everything done in such a timely manner as compared to Nepean Hospital which is a very different story.

Fantastic experience: Sunday night I could not sleep because of excruciating pain from my bottom left wisdom tooth. I walked in Monday morning at the oral centre at 8am and by 8:30am I being seen by two dentists. By 9:30 am my tooth was extracted and all pain was gone. I didn't even have an appointment. Just walked in and informed the staff at reception I was in pain. Thank you so much guys for helping me and I hope that anyone going through tooth pain finds comfort and relief very soon.
Negative experience: Don’t even bother! Book an appointment for wisdom extraction take time off work and it doesn’t even happen!!! You’ll also wait 2 hours after your appointment time !

Fantastic experience: My 19 years old son had his x4 wisdom teeth removal under sedation here with Dr Lee. We are very happy with the service!!All staff were profesional, supportive and knowlegeble. You need your health care concession card and medicare to be eligable to get it done for free. Thank you team!

Fantastic experience: I called this morning they have the call back option you just put your number down and they call you back within an hour or less. Very friendly staff , they booked me appointment in the same day as i called them which is great.
Fantastic experience: I rung on Wednesday & was very distressed, my 87yr old mum whom is in a local nursing home had her dentures accidently thrown out on her dinner tray. Due to ongoing health ailments my mum has swallowing and gagging issues therefore it is essential for her to have dentures. After speaking to a lovely receptionist who had told me she was going to speak to the head of her department I received a call back from a lady called Philippa I explained my mums situation. She was kind caring professional compassionate and what really stood out to me was she understood, I couldn't be any more grateful. Philippa recommended that my mum see "Gary" the following day (Thursday) I took my mum in at 4pm (my mum is wheelchair bound & i have a leg brace on at the moment) Gary came out to reception pushed my mum in for me, he did impressions for her new teeth whilst she remained in her chair, Gary spoke clearly to my mum and explained to her every inch of what he was doing, he was gentle didn't rush her & we were in and out within half an hour. I am so appreciative of the way my mum has been treated. If Gary was in a private clinic i would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a professional & kind dentist. My mum was happy and it was lovely to see a smile on her face. Gary if you get to read this my mums comment of the whole experience was that she loved your shoes! So i do hope you have them on at her next visit! Thank you all so much. i wish there were more health professionals like you guys.
Fantastic experience: I took my 10 yr old daughter here this morning for an appointment organised through the school system. All the staff we spoke to were very kind, helpful, efficient and welcoming. They explained what was happening at each stage of the process to my daughter and to me. They even took us in 20 mins early as we had arrived early. Very appreciative to lovely, hardworking staff. Thank you very much.

Negative experience: Useless call centre. Waited for 45 mins only to be put back in the queue. I hung up, try again tomorrow. Again wait 45 mins to be told oh you need to ring a different number. Why put the wrong number on the website? I'm trying again, currently caller 4, have been waiting 15 mins so far. If this doesn't work I'll have to give up.

Fantastic experience: I have experienced and NEVER received bad or any kind of of inappropriate treatment, slow perhaps, it doesn't cost anything for pensioners! After all, it is a teaching hospital and sure you get students ,supervised by, what I perceived to be the most dedicated teacher I have ever encountered. All students are skilled, just lacking patient contact. To ALL the bad reviewers, It is a FREE service, done by students that are qualified in doing what they do, in the final years of training, just inexperienced, lacking the skill to BS you into spending money you dont need to spend on dental treatments. Lay of the service provided and be HAPPY you can go there and get treatment. IT"S GREAT that we can get treatment when one is on the pension!! LAY OF THE BAD REVIEWS, it is degrading

Negative experience: Need more staff for phone calls. Too many callers and so few staff. You could be waiting for hours
Fantastic experience: I went in with a very bad tooth infection. The infection was so bad, it was affecting my (left) vision. I am so thankful to Dr. Andrew and his team for being so prompt and caring. Both doctors are highly experienced, caring and gentle. I was very nervous at the beginning, But after having a conversation with doctors, I felt safe, reassured, and I felt like I was being looked after. Doctors also made sure I was being looked after at the hospital after my surgery. I am healing very well. I appreciate every bit of help from the dental team.
Positive experience: My dentist was called Rebecca. She was incredible. I felt like I had paid a thousand dollars to see her. Very nice, very informative, very much knowing her stuff. Specialist should get paid by the reviews they get, I hope she gets paid the big bucks. Her assistant was awful, relaxing her head on the wall listening to gossip, more focused on the gossip than her job. I went in on the 24/5/2022, I was seen 30 minutes later than scheduled, but I always expect a wait time at this place. Make sure you have no plans for the day when going here. They really need to do something about the organizing the sections, it is a nightmare. You enter, then get a ticket, go to the booth. Then they send you to a waiting room until the dentist will come out. Then if the dentist sends you for a x-ray, you carry your file back to the ticket room, then get another ticket. You wait, then go to the booth, which they send you to another small waiting room, you have to put your file in the box and wait. After that, they give you your file back, you go back to the dentist waiting room until the dentist will see you again. Then the dentist will give you a slip to make another appointment. So you go back to the ticket room, the triage area where the dentist told you where to go, it says on the wall 'all booths must have a ticket'. So you get a ticket, you wait, then when you get to the booth, the person says "you don't need a ticket for the triage". Why is this so complicated in 2022?

Fantastic experience: Fantastic service. Had my broken jaw fixed wIth titanium plates in 3 hour surgery after falling off my bike. spent 24 hours in hospital then had 4 follow up visits to Westmead dental to see these amazingly cleaver and skilled doctors and nurses. Anesthetists, Surgeons, theatre nurses, ward nurses you are all amazing and caring. our public health system can be amazing and shouldn't be taken for granted. thank you.
