Fantastic experience: I can't believe the negative reviews that have been posted about Dr Newstadt. I have always been very stressed about going to the dentist. Gary and the staff have always been amazing. I have been a patient there for well over 20 years.

Negative experience: Experience with Dr Newstadt was horrible. Antiquated technically, didn't listen when I voiced concerns and my teeth are left worse than when I went. All I needed was a night guard.

I came in with a lot of pain, stress, and anxiety about my gums, but I left feeling so much better — both physically and mentally. Everyone was really kind, understanding, and clearly knew what they were doing. Honestly couldn’t have asked for a better first appointment!

My dentist is Dr. Milton Herson and I find him to be very reassuring when ever I have any dental work done, he actually makes me seem not so anxious! The team at Bay Street are all lovely, Abbie is nearly always the dental nurse whenever I go, she also makes you feel very comfortable! All the girls there are extremely friendly.Sofie, Maxine and another couple of young ladies that I don’t know their names!

Negative experience: My experience here was upsetting and disappointing. Dr Newstadt didn't listen to me, cutting me off from explaining what my complaint with my tooth was multiple times saying "that [my explanation] won't be helpful", and that where I "perceive" the pain to be doesn't match where it looks like he thinks it should be. Also the only dentist to manage to cause me pain taking an x-ray (repeatedly stabbing me in the gum with the plate), and also the only dentist to then blame me for it, saying it's my fault for the way I am holding my tongue. Consequently didn't understand or address my concern, and it went unaddressed until the dental assistant asked me what it was that I had been trying to say. One option was offered, which is fair enough if that is what makes sense, but when I said it probably wouldn't be feasible for me at this time due to cost I got a surly "well sorry". I left in tears. The staff at reception were nice, polite and helpful, but I wouldn't recommend the surgery's services on account of my experience.

Fantastic experience: My family have been with Bay Street Dental Group for many years now and often visit Dr. Herson and Dr. Aruliah. They have always been very professional and their service is superb. We have always been satisfied throughout the years. We highly recommend Bay Street Dental Group to anyone who needs their teeth checked.

Negative experience: Antiquated methods of dentistry. Modern north american dentists scan your mouth to help make a mouth guard versus the dentists here use the antiquated method of just taking a mould; then when there is TMJ/teeth shifting so that your jaw doesn't shut properly in order to eat they ask you " would you rather have TMJ or have your teeth shut" and to "think positively"

Fantastic experience: Bay Street Dental group is the Best dentist in all of Melbourne! The expertise and friendly service is fantastic and highly recommend. Any work big or small is executed seamlessly with no discomfort with the patients needs fully met and everything explained simply. With Abi manging the office and Dr Lauren an expert and superstar both looked after me and I trust them for all my dentistry needs.

Fantastic experience: I rang from Sydney to try and book an emergency appt as my Sydney dentist said I needed to see someone asap! There were no vacancies but the delightful Maxine found a time for me and put me in! I was in considerable pain and Dr Newstadt explained all the options to me! I chose to have the tooth removed! I am a highly anxious dentist visitor and this was not an easy extraction but I truly felt no anxiety whatsoever!! The aftercare was very detailed and the follow up very caring!! All in all the service was awesome and I am tempted to fly down every 6 months for my check up lol I would recommend to anyone!! Jen

Fantastic experience: I saw Dr Newstadt and was very pleased with the service. Honestly I was apprehensive seeing him because of negative reviews about him below. I am shocked because now I have seen him, he was great! He is to the point but never rude or uncaring. My children have also seen Dr Milton several times and he was excellent also. I highly recommend both Dr Newstadt and Dr Milton. The reception team are exceptional also, and really good with active children.

Negative experience: A word of caution.. I was suffering terrible toothache for a few days when I called these guys. Fair play to them they saw me within three hours. The dentist said the tooth had to be removed. It took about 45 minutes to pull and cut out the tooth. It was a terrible experience, but I can't blame the dentist, he said it would be difficult and it sure was..What was even worse than the extraction was the $500 bill I received at the end of the treatment.. Surely $500 is over the top for an extraction. ??

Fantastic experience: Oh my..one word PHENOMENAL! I’d had several bad experiences with dentists and recently knew and old tooth would need extracting. My first examination visit to the Bay Street clinic- the nurses were amazing at calming me and Gary was ever so reassuring about my extraction appointment. I’m highly sensitive, so got incredibly stressed prior, but on the day yet again all staff were so attentive & reassuring. Making me feel genuinely cared for and not silly for being so anxious. I’d seriously give 6 stars if I could. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I never feel that I am being upsold in any way and I always feel assured that I am in experienced hands which takes away the anxiety. The dental assistants & support team are just wonderful. Fantastic experience: Dr Nish is the best dentist I have been to. I have been to her several times now for both routine cleans and emergency broken tooth . Each time Dr Nish was extremely competent but also very kind to me . I would recommend this practice - and particularly Dr Nish to anyone. Exceptional!

Fantastic experience: As someone that has suffered pretty severe anxiety around the dentist and usually needing gas to get through, I would highly recommend Bay St Dental Group. Incredibly patient, welcoming, caring and everything was clearly explained to me through the whole visit and I didn’t resort to gas. Glad they’re my new local dentist.

Negative experience: I have been living in port Melbourne since 1992 and been here a few time. I am a pensioner and told the staff that i am....I went to see dentist newstadt or whatever his name is...$50 X-ray...says tooth needs work. $160 I think, too take it out or about $600 to fill up decay...so being a pensioner, take it out =$160..after, I ask to see the tooth...no it's bio hazard material, I demand give me a look..and it had only a little bit of decay near the gum line...I didn't know that..I thought it was shot...so he pulled out a good tooth because I couldn't afford the extra $440...so much for caring for your community, or caring about pensioner's...you don't have enough money...good teeth will be ripped out...and still wouldn't let me take my tooth to show my wife...'' BIO HAZARD''..or didn't want anyone to see my.. Good tooth.. .

Negative experience: Extremely disappointed with my consultation with Dr Newstadt, he was rushed, rude, dismissive and arrogant. The consultation fee was misleading and I was charged $160 for five minutes of his rudeness. Do not book an appointment with Dr nNewstadt.

Fantastic experience: All I can say is, they rescued and saved my teeth!!! I had a really unusual experience from two other dentists. Misdiagnosed issues and ended up with severe tooth pain and lost sleep. I had pustules in my mouth also. They fit me in asap (I was a new patient/client) told me the issue, and put a plan in place. Within a week my teeth were perfect and I’m not even anxious about the dentists anymore. Lovely, amazing place. The best people. My son believes they are real living tooth fairies. I agree.

Negative experience: Very disappointed with the wisdom teeth consultation from Dr. Newstadt. He was very abrupt, and rushed the consultation. He did not fully hear out my concerns. Instead of addressing any queries that I had, he cut off a lot of discussion and didn’t provide the patient care that was expected. When I directly enquired about wisdom teeth surgery, he dismissed many of my concerns and instead only focused on the two teeth he could see, completely omitting the rest of the erupting teeth that have caused great pain and inconvenience. There was a lack of patient consent when he administered the X-Ray and was not transparent of the pricing, leading to further out-of-pocket expenses. Overall, a very negative and costly experience, would unfortunately not recommend for both patient care or pricing.

Fantastic experience: Dr Gary Newstadt and the team are exceptional! I woke with excruciating tooth pain which made my head feel like it was exploding. I chose Bay St Dental because the reviews looked legitimate on here and they were willing to fit me in because I was incapacitated by the paid. Within hours of calling I was setup with an emergency appointment to see Gary who then performed the first stage of a root canal which I've been avoiding for a year out of fear of how bit the procedure would be. The whole thing took 45 minutes and the procedure was remarkably painless and stress free. From the second he got started it was clear that Gary is a master of his craft. 12 hours after the procedure and the pain had already dissipated by 90%. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Few weeks ago , while in lockdown, I broke one of my front crown! I went to see Dr Gary , and not that he fixed my crown, he created a whole new post and a new crown that matches absolutely perfect with the rest of the teeth !
