EK Dental Surgery: Dentist in Glen Waverley

Negative experience: This was my first and last experience with EK Dental. Serious concerns regarding both the service and professional conduct. I visited EK Dental on a Friday due to pain from my UPPER wisdom teeth and I saw EK. After taking an X-ray, it was confirmed that two wisdom teeth needed removal—though only the right side was causing me discomfort at the time. Despite this being a relatively straightforward issue, I immediately felt uneasy. EK appeared unsure and lacked confidence when reviewing the X-ray, which raised concerns about his competency. I was quoted \$441 *per tooth*, and the receptionist and EK advised that I could remove one now and the other next year to align with my insurance cycle. This felt more like a sales strategy than proper medical advice. Sensing something was off, I began contacting other dental clinics in Glen Waverley the following day (Saturday). I called EK Dental on Saturday to clarify the quote and request a copy of my X-ray. The receptionist said she would confirm the pricing with EK and send the X-ray via email. I received neither a call nor the X-ray by the clinic’s closing time. I followed up again, and was told I’d receive a callback in 20 minutes. Thirty minutes passed and still no call. I had to call yet again, and was then told that EK had deemed the procedure "too complicated" and said to go to another practice for the extraction. Only after yet another follow-up did I finally receive my X-ray. This experience was stressful, frustrating, and frankly concerning that a basic procedure was too complicated. Not only was the communication unprofessional and disorganised, but I felt I was being overcharged and misled. EK himself was also dismissive, rude, and appeared quite elderly, possibly in his 80s, which, combined with his lack of confidence, raised real doubts about his capacity to provide safe and effective treatment. he ended up confirming his inexperience when he said it’s too difficult to do. I am now seriously considering lodging a formal complaint with AHPRA due to concerns about both his competency and ethical conduct. Fortunately, I was able to secure an appointment with a reputable clinic in Glen Waverley. I was charged \$300 for slightly less easier extraction and only \$200 for the second one—which took less than five minutes to take out!! The service was exceptional, and my recovery has been perfect. Based on my experience, EK Dental appears to prioritise profit over patient care. I do not recommend them and urge others to seek treatment elsewhere. The only thing I am so happy about was that EK did not do my procedure. Thank you so much for saying it was too hard cause I just know if he did do it, there would have been so many unnecessary complications.

Fantastic experience: Dr Lee Ek made an anti-snoring treatment device for me. It was amazing; my snoring disappeared on day 1. Goodbye to CPAP which was very inconvenient to travel with and it was too expensive to maintain. I’m absolutely impressed with Dr Ek’s superb skills and expertise. It was all done with great speed & efficiency. Dr Ek is very reassuring and constantly checked to see if his patient is comfortable. His team members are very polite and helpful too. I certainly recommend him strongly. Thank you very much.”

Fantastic experience: I had such an amazing experience!!! I came in for a filling, and Dr. Lydia Tseng and her assistant were absolutely fantastic!! They made the whole process smooth, quick, and super comfortable. Everything was done so efficiently and with such great care. Dr. Tseng explained everything so clearly and thoroughly—I really appreciated that! I couldn’t be happier with how everything went. 10/10 would recommend!!! ✨

Negative experience: Absolutely pathetic. The dentists here have no sense of professionalism or code of conduct, they’re only interested in taking your money. If you have real dental concerns, do yourself a favour and never come here. Extremely disappointed with this clinic.

Negative experience: I left this clinic in pain, angry, and honestly scared to ever go back. This was the worst dental experience I’ve ever had — and it’s the first time I’ve ever felt the need to write a Google review. The dental assistant shoved the suction so far back it felt like they were trying to vacuum my tonsils. Then the dentist scraped off part of my existing filling for no reason. The next day, I had to go back to my usual dentist to undo the damage. I expected professional care and instead walked away hurt, sick, and completely shaken. Big bonus tho! A few days later, I ended up with tonsillitis too. Deeply disappointing and frankly careless. Never again.
