Fantastic experience: I’m so grateful to Dr McEldowney for recommending Dr Hasan at Primary Dental in Phillip for my tooth extraction. Dr Hasan and his dental assistant were incredibly knowledgeable and made me feel at ease from the moment I arrived. The procedure itself was quick, smooth, and relatively painless — a true testament to Dr Hasan’s expertise and experience. Even though he only visits Canberra once a month, the level of care I received was exceptional. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: There are better and cheaper dentists... I visited this dentist for a check up and then wisdom teeth extraction. Originally I saw Helen and was told to book in with Dr Tong for the teeth removal. When I arrived to have my wisdom teeth removed it seemed Dr Tong had not reviewed my case (I had originally asked for my x ray to be reviewed to determine if my other two wisdom teeth needed removing too) and it was going to cost $300 more than I'd been quoted. Not his fault, apparently I'd been misquoted, but they could not offer any resolution and I would have gone elsewhere had I known the price! Additionally, I hadn't received any instructions or advice prior to the day. Upon arriving I was told it would have been good for me to take a medicine an hour before I came, but no one had advised me so. As for the removal, I have heavy bruising and cuts on my lips. It seems to be healing quickly, but it was a horrible experience. I was given aftercare medicine without discussing the side effects, which included nausea and vomiting. A nurse did call me the next day, but by this point I had lost all trust. There was just so many things that were wrong. I'd read so many great reviews so I was really surprised to have such a terrible experience. Maybe I was just unlucky, but I think it's worth sharing so people know if something goes wrong they seem to lack the organisational and people skills to find you a solution.

Fantastic experience: It was my first visit, Dr. Tong did a thorough and careful job with the teeth cleaning. He is very attentive to his work.

Negative experience: I have had a terrible time using this dentist. The dentist was late or cancelled 2 thirds of the time. She continually over changed at each visit often changing for things she said she would do next time and then change for it again the next time I went. She said I needed a crown for 2 teeth when no other dentist said then she changed me to clean both teeth and and exta visit and the crown on the same day even though we agreed to do 1 this yeas and the other next year. Then she cancelled my next appointment twice then she no longer worked there and I was given a new dentist who said the tooth was not suitable for a crown and my tooth had been ground back to much and there was nothing that could be done with the remaining tooth and there was so little left I would need a Specialist to remove my tooth. I spent years keeping this tooth and $20,000 in root canel and specialist to fix it when it was done wrong to now find out this dentist has destroyed with beyond repair. I was told I would get a refund but they only wanted to refund part of the cost and changed me for the visit where they told me the work that was done was wrong. I was told the manager would call me but just the receptionist call who said there was nothing she could do about and was not interested i helping. Still no manager call back or no refund. I don't believe the dentist was qualified she talked about being a dental assistant! I asked for proff of her qualifications and have not got this. Avoid this dentist at all cost.

Fantastic experience: Dr Helen McEldowney is the first dentist for me in 30 years in Australia, Canada and Bulgaria that I've learnt from that teeth have ligaments, and has made going to the dentist a pleasant experince. Primary Dental Woden also work with the program of ACT Health for dental services for single parents. It's a little gem. Great with kids, my 9-year-old loves having his teeth cleaned by Dr Helen.

Negative experience: WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. On my first visit, Dr Mamta Arya was 40 minutes late. I then spent 2 hours in the chair while she prepared my tooth for a crown. At the end of the visit, she put on a temporary crown until the actual crown was made - but it came off the next day. I returned expecting it to be re-glued on, but no, Dr Arya rebuilt my tooth instead - subjecting me to another (unnecessary) painful hour in the chair. When I returned for the crown fitting, Dr Arya spent another 2 hours chipping and grinding down the rebuilt tooth – subjecting me to more pain and time than the first (useless) visit. She then made at least 3 attempts to force the new crown on to my tooth, but it didn’t fit. Each time grinding and filing my tooth down more and more each time. Finally she gave up and said she’d have to order another crown (because the manufacturer made a mistake). How could she expect it to possibly fit after the crown was made from the scans from my first visit? Dr Arya then made another temporary crown for me. I asked her if this one will stay on? She said ‘Of course, I only allowed the glue to dry for 30 seconds the first time, instead of the full 4 recommended minutes’ (Really! Are you serious?). I expressed my concern and disappointment at the time, but she just dismissed me. Two days later, the third temporary crown came off. When the surgery called me to come in again, I told them that I had lost confidence in Dr Arya and didn’t want to return. I then received a call from her, expecting an apology, but instead she told me that she had her procedure reviewed by another dentist, and he agreed that she had done everything right. So, if I have this right, two failed temporary crowns that didn’t stay on, a tooth rebuilt unnecessarily and the start of the whole crown preparation process a second time is ‘everything right’? I asked Dr Arya to have the dentist that reviewed her procedure to call me. Guess what? He never called. I suspect there was no review. Now I am left with an exposed partial tooth that is in danger of decay. I am reporting her to both AHPRA and the HRC.

Negative experience: The one star is in reference to the administration team, not the dentists. The service (when rendered) is good, particularly referring to the dentists. However, there seems to be an issue with the administration team. A common occurrence of bookings not being made properly. Examples: 1. I was booked to see Dr. Tong on a particular day in Phillip. Only to learn on arrival that Dr.Tong actually didn't work in Phillip on that day but rather worked in Belconnen. My booking was confirmed for Phillip. Belco had to squeeze me in last minute (as I was due to travel), but the inconvenience of rearranging my workday (considering belco isn't close to my home or work) was completely unacceptable. 2. Today, a similar issue occurred. Booked months in advance to see Dr. Helen. Only to learn on arrival that the dentist doesn't work on Saturdays for the month of September. No prior communication efforts made to me. Only 'sorrys' on arrival, which make no difference to my situation. Frustrating and I certainly will not be coming here again.

Fantastic experience: Hands down best dentist I've ever gone to. Dr Arya is so knowledgeable and explains everything clearly to you. I've never had a dentist go into so much detail and spend so much time making sure I understand what's going on with my teeth, even with just a general clean and check up. The technology in the clinic is also impressive and allows for you to see first hand what's going on. I'm not a huge fan of the dentist but Dr Arya made me feel so comfortable. She is kind and patient, which I feel are such important qualities to look for in a dentist. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending her to anyone and am genuinely so glad I've found her.

She is an outstandingly skillful dentist, she explains everything she is doing, she manages a great team and she has a lovely warm personality. I have disabilities and Dr Liam Fingleton is warm, kind and understanding towards my challenges. He also has put me at ease and explained my next dental procedure. He had a plan drawn up for my next procedure and had item numbers for claiming. The front staff print out your dental plan and item numbers with prices. So you can see exactly what you will pay out of pocket. I haven't had much experience with Canberra dentist since I moved to Canberra 2 years ago. I definitely recommend Dr Liam. He gets a Hi 5.

I spent a lot of time with Dr Arya doing the check-up, xrays etc and was thoroughly explained the process of our next steps and provided the most amazing care. I cant comment on the pricing, as I obviously havent had dental work in a very long time, but I am confident it will be well worth the money with just the level of service provided.
