Negative experience: I chose this clinic because I was looking for a dental office I could visit regularly, and the reviews online seemed positive. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. The check-up and cleaning were over in about 15 minutes, which felt rushed compared to my previous dentist where the same treatment usually took around 30 minutes and was done carefully. Despite the similar cost, the quality here was noticeably lower. The dentist did not examine each tooth one by one for cavities, even though this was supposed to be a check-up. I had also explained in advance that one tooth was very sensitive, but they still blew cold air directly on it, which was quite painful. On top of that, the suction for saliva was handled roughly and without care. I now realize that reviews written by people with only one or two posts are not very reliable. My experience did not match the “very gentle and thorough” comments I had read before.

Fantastic experience: Having moved from interstate for work, I was looking for a new dentist. Dr Shilpa was recommended to me by a friend and she did not disappoint at all. She has fixed old dental work by others for me and saved my tooth (painlessly) when I was told I had no option but to have an extraction. My comfort is always upper mind, I needed a bit extra to numb, easy fixed. From today, we have plans on how to look after my teeth, reasonable plans. Fantastic experience: I have been attending Northside Family Dental for a number of years. When I first started receiving treatment from Dr Shilpa Kalburgi my gums and teeth needed much attention. With time and maintenance my teeth and gums are going well. Dr Kalburgi is very professional, friendly, warm and caring. With any treatment to my teeth she is gentle and skilful with her dentistry. She has formed a positive and trusting relationship with me which has taken my anxiety away while having my teeth treated. The Office Manager is very organised, welcoming, and he calls me a few days before an appointment is due to confirm if I am attending. The waiting area is clean and tidy and so is the reception area. I fully recommend Dr Kalburgi if you looking for a good, professional and caring dentist.

Negative experience: Stay clear would be a no star if this was a option book a appointment to have a tooth taken out to sit and wait and listen to the arguments in the practice between staff members then be told I’m running to far behind I wouldn’t be able to do it anyway. Joke DR Elsepth Nicholls calling patients idiots with the doors open and people in the waiting room.

Negative experience: Save your money and go to a competent dentist. The dentist took xrays and neglected to inform me of a large cavity. I showed my new dentist the xray who said the cavity was visible and should have been treated months ago. Northside family dental also advised I did not need my wisdom teeth removed which were causing severe pain, which was also not true and was advised by this of my new dentist. I sent an email to flag the issues and received a short response which did not acknowledge the negligence.

Negative experience: 3-4 years ago, my primary school-aged daughter had to get emergency dental with them because of a chipped front tooth from a playground incident. To this day, she's traumatised because they rushed the injections and were so rough with her. She's had other dentists since who have been able to administer painkillers via injection without causing pain and trauma but the damage to my girl has been done because of this one terrible visit. I would never, ever go back to them and would never recommend them to others.

Fantastic experience: My first visit to Dr Shilpa was an emergency whilst on holiday. I’m terrified of dentists, yet she made me feel safe, talked to me and calmed me. Once we moved here permanently there was no question who I picked to be my regular dentist. Dr Shilpa has always respected my fears, been so patient with me through whatever treatment I require. I appreciate that her appointments can run late because she isn’t rushed and takes time with those of us who are nervous. I utilise the on-line booking service and have always been able to book to meet my needs. The follow up reminder texts and phone call from reception are also much appreciated. Fantastic experience: I have really bad teeth from years of medications and surgeries. I recently had an extremely painful dental abscess I needed treatment for and the tooth extracted. I had not been here before, but as I had an emergency voucher from ACT health they were close and able to see me within the hour. Dr Shilpa was so kind (I was in tears from the pain) and knowledgeable. I explained issues I had in the past with extractions and issues with anesthetic and she made sure I felt NOTHING. I have had rough extractions at other surgeries where I felt everything so it’s a bit traumatic for me usually! She was talking me through every step, asking if I was okay, so kind and knowledgeable. Extraction went perfectly and abscess was cleaned out. Unfortunately I ended up with dry socket - nothing that Dr Shilpa did or didn’t do, just a common risk with extractions. Again, she got me in the same morning and treated me after I had been in so much pain for a few days. I am now not in pain! I highly recommend this practice. Whether you are a full paying patient, a private health patient or a ACT health emergency dental voucher patient everyone is treated the same, with the same standard of quality And respect. No one is judged. No one is rushed. A+ team. I will be returning.

There was no sight or mention of needles or medication, it was all very calm and well managed.
